Hi all,
Back from our visit to DH's daughters. It went well and I drank a whole bottle of AF red wine. DH was very good, but everyone else drank LOADS. We left fairly early and got back in good time.
DH 's elder daughter with Aspergers is very unhappy at work and finds the commute to London very difficult. She has put on a huge amount of weight. She used to be very slim. Our emotional state is so important. Her ex husband and still her friend was also at the lunch and said it was great to see me looking so healthy! "Quite a transformation " he said.
He probably remembers me bald and fat after chemo!
Very tired now. Love Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Thanks for telling about the star at the top of the page! I couldn’t find this group again! I have been under my calorie allotment for 18 days but have not weighed yet. Started out at 180 from docs scale. Just can’t give up my 2 wines even tho I count them. I don’t think I have lost very much but look better! What is BBC code?2

After my first 'fast-food' hamburger; that I cut up in small bite-size pieces; did not eat but 1/2 of the bun, about 3 onion rings, 1/4th of a small French fries, and a small Dr. Pepper - I Am MISERABLE! Won't do that again. No matter what Louis says; I will just drink another one of my shakes and let him eat the junk food. UGH!
My Mother was 'allergic' to the sun; if she got out in it for any length of time, she'd break out in hives. We discovered this when we were on vacation when I was little, got deathly ill and all she had done was get sunburned although she was sitting under a shelter (the owners of the place had built it especially for Mother; they were good friends of my parents). That helped; but, she still wore a LOT of sunscreen and did not sit out there from 10:00am to 2:00pm. I'm not sure I understand the concept of a mask. Mask of thick sunscreen or clear mask like sometimes you see an athlete wearing during a game (basketball) as protection from getting someone's finger jabbed in their eyes..

Mask ... like what Asian women or doctors wear.
Or pollution masks ... like what cyclists in cities where smog is a problem wear.
To filter out the thick smoke all over BC and Alberta.
These are the pollution masks MEC sells:

Did Debbie Sieber’s Keep it Up DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 10 Minute Solution pilates DVD.
katie – looks like you’re well on your way
I find these before and after pictures so interesting. Wish I had some of me. I seem to be at the same weight (give or take a few pounds) since I started on here.
Vince applied for medicare. He’s really not looking forward to it. I apply next year. At least he’s going thru it first
Kim – I bet with all that digging, I’m sure you get thirsty so the amount of water you drink (especially in the summer hot weather) is probably a lot.
Kathleen from Cantonment – welcome! I’ve never heard of Cantonment. Where is it in FL? On the West coast (I’m not as familiar with that part of FL)
Katla – WLS = Weight Loss Surgery. Have fun with your company!
Rye – loved the raft and your other pictures
Have a question for those people who do landscaping. How do you get rid of tree stumps short of digging around them and sawing them down below ground level? Is there some way that they will dissolve?
NYKaren – happy birthday to your daughter. That’s so neat about the elephants
I just got an email from the president of Newcomers. Boy, I can’t help but wonder if she’s drunk. Basically, she’s suggesting that the webmaster enters new members into the website, then he tells me that he has done it so that I can send them the new member information. Previously, I did everything and the webmaster really didn’t get involved unless there was a problem with my privileges. I am suggesting that he reinstate my privileges so that I can do everything. My fear is that my privileges were custom code which he can’t fix. Now she wants to give him another job? I tell you, he’s getting frustrated, and I can completely understand where he's coming from. He’s really not going to like it when I resign from membership. Wouldn’t surprise me if come the new fiscal year we are looking for a new webmaster.
Lenora – I’m the same way when it comes to fast food. I quite literally get a sick stomach. It’s what you get used to over time. I’m just so used to not having fast food that even the smell of it turns me off.

Karen NY ... I am enjoying your vacation pics tremendously. I am not likely to ever travel to the places you go ...
Barbara ... I have been meaning to tell you that I appreciate your posts so much ... always thoughtful and encouraging. Thank you!
Allie ... that millstone of a house needs to be sold before November when everyone settles in for the holidays. We ended up paying on my MIL's house into the next year ... very costly ... but then it sold in the spring.
Well it's been an interesting week. While I was to travel with husband when taking our YS back to school ... those plans fell apart. OS's medicinal pump situation had me very concerned and I didn't feel right about leaving him. Good thing I stayed home ... we spent all day yesterday in the ER waiting for surgeons to determine whether he needed immediate surgery or could wait until his scheduled surgery on Tuesday. The pump site had started to bleed and I was concerned about infection. Anyways, we're back home and taking it easy ... waiting on Tuesday! It is very disconcerting to be able to hold an internal medical device in your hand through the skin .... Will be glad when this surgery is over for him.
So my YS and his dad left for Nashville without me and by the looks of his dorm room I was not needed. They did an awesome job putting things together ... even hung up drapes with Tiebacks no less! This is hysterical to me as both of them can't seem to figure out how to do anything of that nature when I'm around. I'm on to them now!!
My weight has been slowly decreasing ... probably from stress, but hopefully due to better eating. I am making a concerted effort to eat less but eat higher quality food. Since I have OS home with me right now, I'm making certain he's eating better too!
Hugs to all of you!

Just a snap from the other day when we were waiting on news about our host’s health.
Mostly been using my good camera which I can’t get photos off until I return home today instead of iPhone - so no new pics today.

Had a nice day yesterday, son came for a meal, his wife was away for the weekend. I did a roast dinner which we both enjoyed. Had a good chat, he lives quite near me but they both work so don't see them as much as I'd like.
Loving all pics
Weight still bobbing up and down, need to buckle down and lose a couple of pounds before my Spanish trip got to allow for paella and beers. Hoping it's not too hot for my long walks along the promenade.

morning ladies~
the heat and humidity has been wicked over here ..last night I was asleep before 7 pm and woke up at 4 am, tried going back to sleep, buy my mind wouldnt let me...
going to feed DFIL , and then either back here to clean or to my dads to start boxing up stuff..
I have to get this show on the road..1 -
Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
First day off today since I left home a week ago - up early. But then, I presented a fund development workshop yesterday to the Board of Directors. to get them thinking about how board members could assist in raising funds for the organization. Walked in the hotel room about 4 p.m., dropped my bags, shed clothes on the way to the bed and slept for three hours. Got up, ate dinner, called the husband, and went back to sleep until 4 a.m. this morning. Needed it!
Successful trip so far, if exhausting. One more week of this marathon trip -- will be home by this time next Sunday, and will have a couple weeks at home before I leave again.
My highest ambition today is take my truck to the car wash. And nap. Back on the road tomorrow. Monday-Tuesday night in Texas, Wednesday-Thursday night in New Mexico. Friday I head home, but because I'll be on the far west side of the council, it will be a two-day drive.
Love y'all!
Lisa in New Mexico for one more night.6 -
My goal for August is to start my nutrition plan, stick with it and be active for at least 30 minutes a day. My step goal is set at 8k right now. I hope to achieve that consistently and then gradually up the goal to 10k again.3

Michele ~ I got a bottle of brush killer at Walmart and noticed that the label said it would kill stumps.
Rye ~ Your photography is great! You must have an awesome camera to be able to take such close ups.
Machka ~ Your array of cards is nice.
Lenora ~ My DnL is working on her specialist degree and found out that she could rent her text books.
Lisa ~ There is no way most of us could keep up with your work traveling and schedule. Kudos to you.
To all who shared before and afters....thanks and so inspiring.
Alison ~ I know what a daunting task you have in trying to empty out your Dad's house. Wishing you the best.
I visited the walk in clinic yesterday because my throat was so sore. Diagnosed with acute pharyngitis and sinusitis. Got antibiotics and steroid. Hoping to feel better soon.
Everyone have a nice day.

So aside from creating my card collage, we went to Big W, where I got the magnetic board for the collage, and I also picked up some more running gear.
I'm not entirely impressed with the tights, but they're the best of a poor selection. It seems like all the running tights now are short ... they come to about 2 inches above my ankle. And it seems like that's the fashion ... even the displays show the tights coming to about 2 inches above the ankle. Weird. I much prefer my tights, pants, etc. to be right down to the ground. But nevertheless, the tights were only $10, and were the longest ones there, so I got them. Prior to today, I only had one pair of long tights, and all the rest of my running tights were just past the knee. Those short ones are just a bit cold, so this second pair of long ones are better than nothing.
I've also been attempting some cleaning and organising this weekend. I got my homework project done early, and had a little bit of time. But it's all back to uni and work tomorrow!
We also got on our trainers (with Zwift) ... my husband did half this amount ...

Thought machka and all bikers at would like the pics This sculpture is on Rachel’s campus.
Today we headed to port Alfred where we hung out at a most beautiful beach. It was barely occupied as it is winter here, but was warm enough to hang out. The sun was out and the sky was so blue I could hardly believe it, climbed a very steep sand dune (yes!) and then ate chicken curry pie on the beach. What a day.

Where are you that it is winter?
I ask because it's winter down here in Australia ... and NZ.

I have just thrown away 55 old audio tapes. Go me! :drinker:
I've kept a few that old boyfriends gave me as a compilation and some that I recorded myself. Voices of people I once loved. My radio play. One or two difficult to find anthropological music. But nearly all of it is gone. Including all my old "woo woo" stuff of "mystical" music I used to dance to. Bit of a wrench, but I've done it. Lots of memories, but I haven't played them in over twenty years.
Also a lot of VHS tapes. I've kept a few with me on that I want to get professionally transferred to DVD or memory stick, but all my old teaching stuff has gone. Literary memoir I can find on Utube. Also a few "sexual education" tapes. I might have kept those, but I've nothing to play them on now.
It's all in a bin bag in the garage. Will have to take it to the dump.
I was feeling very, very tired and aimless today as DH is at the cricket, but the decluttering revived me, as it always does.
Best thing ever!

Tracey in Edmonton: We're having another smokey day, too.
Rita: I hope you're feeling better soon. :flowerforyou:
Kathleen in FL: Welcome to a great group of supportive women.
Lanette: Our vet bills have been higher, too. However our dog is a miracle on four feet. Last fall he hurt his back and we nearly lost him. Thanks to our care at home and our vet's medicine and guidance, he is alive and well.
Barbara: Your land is beautiful. I love the secret cistern. :flowerforyou:
Tracey in Edmonton: It seems like the smoke situation changes every day. Yesterday was not too bad, but this morning is much worse. I can tell by the haze and the headache.
Machka: Thanks for the mask photos. I love the view from your window.
Carol in GA: I hope the medicine works and you feel better soon. :flowerforyou:
NYKaren: I love the bike photos and your daughter is gorgeous!
The air quality today is worse than it has been. We're staying indoors for now. I have a riding lesson later this afternoon and plan to go to that. The stable is at a higher elevation and I hope the air is better there. We live next to the river, and the smoke seems to drain into here.

Machka ...the photos of Karen's daughter, Rachel, are taken on the campus of Geneseo ... part of the NY State University System. These must have been taken last Fall or Winter as New York is in the last weeks of summer right now.0

Beth ~ I think the photos were taken in Africa where Rachel is doing a summer internship.1

Thought you ladies might like this. Thanks for the compliments. I do not have a good camera for close-ups, I use my phone for the close-up photography.
We return to Chicago tomorrow, and this has turned out to be a very relaxing weekend vacation. I’ve been secluding myself for a lot of group activities, but there are so many spots to do that. My camera is a great excuse to wander off in my own without offending.

Currently in Grahamstown South Africa. Heading to jo-burg tomorrow then on to capetown end of week. Very special trip for DH and I. The weather has been chilly, then rainy, and even warm and spring like in the afternoon. NYKAREN4

afternoon ladies~
well with Dementia it is like a roller coaster, yesterday he was angry and violent, today he was happy to listen to music and be fed, kept his eyes closed because he wanted too.. I really have to look into a small bluetooth radio or player and wireless headphones,I think that he would really enjoy it, he loves Frank Sinatra and all that kind of music, and I bet if he got out of bounds and they put the music on he would calm down.
came home and went through and hung up my clean clothes and went through papers and threw out a bunch of junk, have more to go , and I havent heard from my brother, maybe he is sleeping in..
