What nobody tells you about losing weight

Constipation is a thing.
You will miss having food as an escape while simultaneously being happy that it’s no longer your crutch.
Counting calories and weighing food can get extremely tedious and just plain annoying sometimes.
Your palate changes.
Your PMS symptoms can get worse.18 -

I'm probably more inclined to think, "I bet I can make a serving of that fit in my day if I wanted to," instead of judging someone else's food like that. ... But that's me.
For me it's not a case of judging what someone else is choosing to eat - just that the stuff that used to sound tasty just doesn't any more. The very thought of a 4 cheese pizza or sauce made with heavy cream just doesn't appeal so I don't need to make room for it in my menu. Now, a piece of a good, cold chocolate bar - will squeeze that in whenever I can
Sure. That doesn't sound judgmental at all. Lol.
I don't know if you're just hyper sensitive or something, but neither of these people's posts was in the least bit judgemental. Both of yours have been very snide and unpleasant. 🤔32 -
Jewellery may become a problem.
All my pendants now hang ridiculously low; I badly need shorter chains. But it seems to be virtually impossible to find a 15” chain these days! Is a 12-12 1/2” throat really that unusual?
Similarly, bracelets - I recently bought one of those cheap elasticated beaded bracelets as a souvenir. In the old days I couldn’t wear them because they cut off the blood supply to my hand; now the dratted thing is far too loose. I can get three fingers under there before it even starts to stretch.
Is it me? Do all the normal weight people out there just go around with everything feeling loose and rattly? Is that how it’s meant to be?
Amazon.
DH ordered me a necklace for Mothers Day. It came in 15" and 18" chains, he bought the 18".... I'm wearing it with a 15" chain from another necklace that I rarely wear.
My kid's got necklaces for Pascha, they came with 13" chains for kids. They really need 10" chains as they are quite low hanging for a child's necklace. I guess because they are younger children and 13" probably fits up to the preteen years. I'm looking to replace the chains.
Anyway, I have found very reasonable chains in whatever length I want on Amazon, but I am looking at "order for child" durability and cost, so you may be looking for something nicer.

In our area there's a mall store which sells chain by the inch - pick it out and they cut it and add fittings of your choice. Gold, silver, plated, whatever. Google and see if you have something similar.1 -

Amazon has been driving me mad; I search for 15” chains, or just chains and then select the filter option for length, and then every chain it shows me is 17”.
What gives, Amazon? Do you just hate me personally?!3 -

The problem is more that anything with a 17” chain hangs right on the neckline of most of my current dresses, which is just annoying.
The large links thing is a good idea. I might have to take my favourite pendants shopping with me, though, because larger links might have trouble fitting through the bails.
Also, my diamond shoes are too tight
Aaaaah, the jewelry maker in me has itchy fingers to fix your necklaces. If only portals from one part of the world to the other existed! I hope you find shorter chains! What I would look for are normal chains but with larger links on one end meant for extending a necklace. But you're right, the links will have to go through the bails, though that shouldn't be too much of an issue unless they are super tiny.
I have similar issues. My neck is 11.5-12" and too long necklaces end up in the grand canyon formed by my cleavage. Have to go spelunking to get it out, lol. So I have to make sure that if they are long, they are LONG. None of this middle length bit.
Good luck to you!
It was helpful to know the jewelry making trade. I fixed a lot of my own bracelets and necklaces. It was handy when I made my own when it was hard to find ones that would fit and even more helpful when I had to make them smaller.1 -
That it could be done:
- without paying for services
- without buying products
- without exercising
- without portion control
- without calorie counting
- and most important, without feeling hungry.

That when you finally have that "Ah-Ha!" moment. You look back at every failed diet (especially the ones you spent way too much money on and were complete woo) you've done for as long as you've been struggling with weight, and feel a combination of silly & stupid.13

I have to apparently try Amazon! I have the opposite problem, since I hate with a passion everything that comes too high on my neck. I literally will not wear anything that covers my collarbones, the only exceptions being the hairdresser's robe and my national folk dress, in which I have zero say in the fit. For me, every necklace is too short if the chain even touches my collarbones. Most necklaces come with a chain that's too short for me. Maybe we should just mail our chains to each other lol...

You might also see if you can either get some jump rings (for cheaper necklaces) or a larger clasp for the pendant (for a nice one). My necklines vary, so I like being able to change where my pendant hits if I can!0 -

I bought s package of necklace extenders off 9f Amazon. It came with 4 different lengths in bith silver and gold color. They have clasps on both ends amd I have even.used 2 at 1 time to het the right length. It was inexpensive too.3 -

It's okay to avoid the scale.
Losing weight might not make you happy like you thought it would.
You could actually really enjoy the gym.
Don't beat yourself up about missing a gym day, breaks are good and needed.
Not having money to buy new clothes might make you wanna gain weight back at times BUT DON'T!
The less you weigh, the harder it is to burn calories, so push yourself! Losing weight at first is easy then it gets hard. So you're gonna miss those heavier days.
It's okay to stop eating when you're full. It'll be so strange when you see how much you used to be able to eat vs now, but it's a great strange.
It's a lifestyle.
Will add to this when i learn more ☻

Still wayyyy too hot, can't wait for Fall and Winter (excluding February).
I only do one long run on sundays, and even 72 is borderline too hot for me. I'd like to be able to push myself but not end up feeling queasy afterwards.3 -

Would love 72 deg here - feeling a bit chilly her in SW of UK Though the sun is still out so not too bad 18.15 and it's 62 deg F

I much prefer the cold! I am always hot! It has been 90 here for the past week with 80% humidity... ugh1 -

That's my inside temp. It's 90+ outside.
I actually went outside to warm up.
My 26 year old step son complains as I have the thermostat set to go to 75F at home. He says it's hot and I caught him setting it below 72. So I put a PIN on it. He doesn't pay the bill, so why should he set the thermostat.
He can get off the couch, stop watching anime and get some exercise and slim down.
Sadly, my fat clothes have been going in his closet. I was hoping my example would motivate him to at least try to get into shape. I think I would have been embarrassed at the age of 26 if a 53 year old man was in better shape than me. But he has to be him and I'll be me.
But since I pay the electric bill, I get to set the thermostat.
Next time he complains about being hot in the house, I'll send him outside to mow the lawn with the push mower.22 -

I was thinking today, that finally after losing a majority of my weight, I feel like this is how I'm "supposed" to look. Like, in a healthy form as to how my features should look, my body shape, etc. Not that I've reached my pinnacle of being or anything... Haha. But, I have always been bigger. I had no idea what I would look like slimmer. So now I just would like my brain to catch up to my current form, as I still kinda feel like an imposter. 😐
Also, everyone always says they are colder after weight loss. IT IS SO TRUE, I CAN NEVER GET WARM. Seriously, I take 2 showers a day so I can feel warm. Now maybe Snuggies aren't so ridiculous. 😂
I wear Old Navy or UnderArmour workout shirts and run tights under everything (not this summer though). They fit snug and keep me warm. Thats what I get for crashing my metabolism. It was worth it. Thank God for 90 degree summer here in NYC... Not looking forward to winter, but Im prepared.1
