I'm so glad they made the "cover!" I didn't organize a S.P.A.M. run this year....I'm in that ostrich stage of grief.....
@Elise4270 and @HonuNui - I didn't see it the first time I went to the link. I got as far down as the state listing and got sidetracked looking at what run options were in CA. LOL - completely missed the picture of @skippygirlsmom and the Skippygirll! I couldn't figure out what you were talking about! It is pretty cool!
@HonuNui - I don't know if it ever gets any easier but I hope over time you find some peace. I think of you and Steve pretty much every time I put on my sunscreen!

Intervals after a week of no running. Went too fast on the first three and the last two nearly killed me (but slowed down and survived).
Never thought I would say this, but I went out just after noon and it was cold and windy. Last week, it'd felt like autumn would never come.

@zdyb23456 @MobyCarp I bow down to your dreadmill and indoor track wonders. On a similar note, a friend ran a half marathon in his living room during Chinese New Year a couple years back, 2100 back and forths of his 10 meter long apartment. His dog thought he'd gone stark mad.7 -
@PastorVincent I live along the trail in MD and run there several times a week. I have run on it in PA too (around Connellsville, my Mom was from Uniontown).
I've got the same issue with my phone and sweating.
Sounds like you had an adventure that ended in ice cream with your wife. How can that not be a win?3 -

My running has been a bust so far this week. I have let too many things get in the way. But it is now the weekend, and I WILL run both days!!!3 -

Ducked into a food store and bought some real chocolate milk, then texted my wife and met her at an ice cream shop. So that is a win.
I will have to find a trail map and see if I can guess where I went wrong...
I got a tip here awhile ago to put my phone in a plastic ziploc baggie. I don't zip it all the way closed because of my headphones, but it definitely works to keep it dry. I drench my clothes too. I'm sure I look ridiculous because I use a RooSport pouch in the front and my phone is so big I have to keep it half sticking out, then it's in a plastic baggie hanging out the front of my shorts - lol Thankfully, I'm too old to care what people think of me especially when I'm out running.

What I consider to be my prime events are all Bushwhackers.
Evergreen Trail Tech (Pine Tree Sand Dunes), Mountain Madness , Emperor's Challenge (20km over a Mountain)
Don't Get Lost in the Woods ( X-Country Ski club trails ), Roots and Ruts ( Pine Tree Bog-Forest ), Reverse the Curse ( Ski Hill Trails ) .
Miserable Miles Local Event this weekend = me as volunteer course setup/tear-down. An obstacle Course Race up and down our local ski-hill. No water slide this year as it is -2C, but lots of fun obstacles.
Anyone who is a Runner and taken a tumble will appreciate the humor built into the Finishers Medal for the Roots and Ruts event.1 -
@PastorVincent I can't ever see myself getting so lost in a run that I didn't even realize where I was going. But, then again, I don't use headsets. I prefer listening to nature when I run outdoor, or watching TV if I'm on the treadmill. Glad it ended well.0

I have to. If I actually realize I am running and think about it, I would not make it 1/2 a mile. I do not mention it often, and perhaps that is a disservice to others, but every step I take is a struggle. I have to take my mind out of the activity to a place where there is no pain in order to keep going. I can run without headphones, I do it for most races, but my head is still not in my body for most of it.
We all face our own set of challenges, this is just how I defeat mine. It is not perfect, but it is me.9 -

But I have to listen to a podcast or music because I can't stand listening to my breathing. It puts me back into the present and I don't get the brain shut off.
And my daily "nature" is cars. Not exactly what I want to listen to.8 -

Alex is lost to alcohol and mental illness (bipolar diagnosis), no idea if he'll ever come out of it. I know its not the same thing, but I've lost him. Ive lost count of how many times hes tired to kill himself, 5 maybe 6. Hes not who he once was in my life. I'm not good at relationships anyway, so the whole thing just pushes me further in to antisocial behavior/attachment disorder type crap. Further away from people i can get the better. I get cynical. (Sure doesnt help ive been running with his old mp3 player. When days of innocence prevailed). Ugh enough about my woes. ((Hugs))
We're doing the Virtual 26.2 hour relay for Dennis and i noticed it fell on the same day i did the spam for Steve. So I'll definitely have him and you in my thoughts too.
We could continue it and make October 14th or second weekend in October, our fallen runners/lost love ones rememberance runs days. A "Run Your Heart Out" run. What troubles your heart, let your legs take far away.

I've kinda gone from the first situation to the second now. I started used the zombies run app because that took my mind off what I was doing for long enough to actually start running for more than a few minutes at a time, but over the last few weeks I've realised after finishing a run that I have no recollection at all of the zombie mission storyline and usually can't even remember what songs from my playlist it has played to me (it's set to random). It all just seems to be white noise in the background. However I do know when I start to tire I rely on my music to match my footsteps to the beat and keep me going so it isn't completely redundant, even if I can't for the life of me remember what I listened to afterwards.3 -

That was a tough one this morning. It was about 98-100% humidity and 66 degrees when we started at 6 am in the dark. Finished up at almost 80 degrees. Last weekend's race in cool weather felt so good and this by contrast was a real slog-fest. I felt every step and my shoulders were aching. But thanks to some good company, I got it done - another distance PR set. Waiting to have some pizza and then I'm taking a nap for as long as the dog will allow.

OK, I just had to add this in - I was checking Strava and our group on there and this is quite a banner moment for me as I'm ranked SECOND, right behind @garygse!!
I feel like a rockstar! Now nobody look at the difference in total miles or pace, and nobody else should run anymore this week. 😂😜

Second Saturday in a row being grounded from running. Did my physio exercises last night and now I have more pain than yesterday! I am going to assume that means it's working.
Although given the weather I kind of don't want to run right now anyway. I don't mind warm rain. I don't mind snow and super cold. It's the in between sleet that I'm not a fan of!

@MNLittleFinn envy... I think I prefer trails to road by a huge margin myself (even though I'm always fighting against cutoffs on trails).
@PastorVincent I used to run with music for a similar reason. The only reason I really stopped is because my phone started literally freezing last winter and I got out of the habit.0 -

By the lake this weekend, so got in a hilly run this morning. The typical route that I usually do is 4 miles, but I wanted to do 6 so ran past the two mile turnaround mark. It’s pure incline on this old stone bridge followed by a pretty good descent, so knew I was pretty much getting that beast on the way back. Made it through and had some really slow paces on the uphills, but was happy with the run. It’s so pretty that I wish I took some pictures to share, but I knew if I stopped I would have trouble starting again.

Today was the day for pacing my friend at the Tour Des Fleurs half marathon, and it was a humid one. Temp was 73F with a dew point of 72F, so yeah, humid. She'd wanted me to keep her in check at a 10:00 min/mi pace and prevent her from galloping off, which she tried to do several times, but after just four miles, the heat and humidity got the better of her and her pace was dropping off dramatically. At that point, she told me to go on ahead while she took walking breaks, so I decided to treat the remaining nine miles as a tempo run. The average pace for the first four miles was 10:18, while the average over the next nine was 7:13. Official result: 1:47:24.
