@kgirlhart Happy anniversaries! An accidental Double/Double - so go have a coffee to celebrate.
@RunRachelleRun Wishing for a quick recovery!RicciDarlene wrote: »Good job everyone! I only did 204 miles this morning and we have track workout tonight so I am not sure how much distance I will bet but I am closer to my goal today than yesterday!
Bows in awe and then track work. Looks like @AlphaHowls has some competition.
@sarahthes, @RunRachelleRun and @RunsOnEspresso - I have some Black KT Tape - that is reserved for Halloween. Normally I use what ever is On Sale.
Yea @RespectTheKitty Glad to see you are still Lurking, nice link about Ultra's.
@amymoreorless Do you scrunch your toes when you run? I have a friend who does that and she gets blisters On the tips of her toes - sound familiar??
12 km Riverbank-Mann Flatts-Stairs. A bit of a mixed bag - Paved Riverbank trail, Grass fields on Mann Flatts, Wooden Stairs and road. A beautiful evening, one of those struggle to get moving runs. Shoes were to tight, one lace was all twisted up and felt like it was cutting into my ankle. Felt like my back and hips were really tight at the start. Just kept plodding along until it started to feel better.

Hey @shanaber, did you learn any tricks about keeping KT tape on for more than a day?
I havr the KT pro tape that is supposed to last at least 4 days. But after my run it is all falling off. I do:
Wipe area with alcohol.
Spray area with hair spray (saw this in a post and it helped a little better).
Have very little hair in the area.
Never touch the adhesive.
Apply with no stretch on each end about 2".
Rub vigorously for about a minute.
Apply the night before.
I can't believe I sweat THAT much more than the average person.
Help!
@Scott 6255 - I did not but mine lasted for several days and it was just the regular KT Tape. I did however have a sock on over it when I was running and dried it after my shower by blotting with the towel pretty hard. When I had it on my knee I also wore compression running capris so I think that helped too.0 -
@MegaMooseEsq - hope all of the anxiety issues get worked out, They can be so debilitating!
@RunsOnEspresso - I saw that Big Bang the other night too
@amymoreorless - first let me say I can't believe you washed with cold water from your fridge this morning! I hope the plumbing issues are fixed now! Also I think I would have gone over to the neighbors and begged to use their shower. On socks - I don't think you would want cotton socks either because of the rubbing/chaffing factor when cotton gets even damp. Maybe polyester or a blend or bamboo as @rheddmobile suggested. I am also allergic to most surgical and bandage tapes but don't have a problem with KT.
@ContraryMaryMary - I need one of those massages!3 -
Nice gentle 3km this morning to stretch my legs out a bit brought me to my initial goal here for the month, and I still have Friday evening's 5.1k race and a baby long run on Sunday before the month is over :-)
Not exactly an allergy but I live with psoriasis and pretty much EVERYTHING p*sses my skin off, including my own sweat. I pray I never have the need for tape because I reckon that stuff would cause me a flare from hell, band aids are bad enough.

No help on the socks front but today I finally bought a couple of pairs of expensive ish socks to try out, one pair of Balegas and one pair of thorlos.
I ended up buying from the Running Warehouse in Australia and the service has been fantastic. No delivery charge, despite being international - and they have a really good shoe return policy - 30 days no questions asked, even if used. Definitely worth looking at for future shoes now i have a pair I seem to like.8 -
Great, just got a notice from my town that water is under "mandatory conservation" because someone broke a "main pump"
I guess I better call @amymoreorless up for tips on how to take public showers on my deck...9 -
@Scott6255 Well i must be one of the lucky ones where the KT tape stays on for days, even through the shower. I cant remember running causing it to come off easier, but that may be because if i need it, I'm not running. I did reciently use it for my wrist. Stuff is magic.
@sarahthes my tape is blue. I have some of the X shaped tape. Love it for point pain.
I quit looking up videos on how to apply it and just go with how my body feels. Which, i think im on a "2 steps back" cycle. Two miles and my left itb is complaining. Patience.
@rheddmobile @shanaber I'm also allergic to adhesives, (and latex). Kt tape has been fine for me too.
Is it Friday yet?4 -

I would have to drive to another town for any water that is not under the ruling... maybe I will get my son to dig around in the yard. Gotta be water there someplace. Can put in a wishing well!4 -

I haven’t had any issue with KT tape the couple of times I’ve used it. In both cases my chiropractor applied it to my knees and it was still on solid a week later. I didn’t stick with it though - it didn’t bother my skin but didn’t seem to help nearly as much as targeted strength exercises have helped. Different strokes, etc, etc.2 -
@shanaber @Elise4270 @RunsOnEspresso @MegaMooseEsq thanks for the info on KT tape. Guess I am just an outlier. Figures.4

Hey, "normal" is not where you wanna be 😉2 -
Had a PT session this morning, lower body circuit, then went for a quick jog to keep legs from being sore later. 1.36 miles in 17 minutes per endomondo, included cool down walk. Was sprinkling rain when I started but that shut down about 100 yards into the run. Totals for the month so far

Ran 2 miles this morning - possibly the last run before Sunday's half. Unless I do a couple on the treadmill in Friday night's hotel. We'll see. Trying to juggle the "being prepared" with the "don't injure yourself."
June goal - 44/44
July goal - 52/52
August goal - 55/57 miles
Sept goal - 61/60 miles
Sept. 30 - Wineglass Half Marathon; Corning, NY

That's so awesome. Fingers and toes tightly crossed for you!
I spoke too soon. Massage therapist found all sorts of new spots today. And while the men are definitely stronger, the women massage therapists where I'm doing therapy show no mercy. Tomorrow I'm going to try going for a walk and stretching before I go, so everything isn't as tight going in. But I'm feeling good - who knows, maybe the area around my hips is always tight?
My new profile pic was taken on vacation a few weeks ago. I looked through our other pictures, and just like in this one, I wasn't really even STANDING straight at that point. And yet I ran that 10k three days later anyway. Uggggh.5 -

Today's 5.5 mile run puts me over my goal for September. It was a good run. When I went to bed last night the weather said that a cold front would be coming in around midnight and it was supposed to rain almost all day today. I figured I wouldn't get a run in today, but if I had a good window I might try to get one in. When I got up this morning it was not raining and it wasn't very cool either. So off I went. It was nice enough at ~69F. There was a light 6mph north wind and it was mostly clear and the moon was still very pretty this morning and I could see quite a few stars too. About halfway through the run the clouds started moving in and it felt more humid and less pleasant. When I got home I was kind of wondering what happened to the cold front. I went in the front door and grabbed a gatorade and went to the back to let the dogs out. When I opened my door I saw that the cold front had arrived. It was much cooler and the wind was really blowing. I'm so glad I was able to get a nice run in this morning. Sunday when I ran it was cloudy and drizzling and I kind of enjoyed that. But this morning it was raining with 20 mpf north winds. I would find that a lot less pleasant and I am glad I beat it this morning.

Besides the week crawling by, my runs have been good. Last weekend we had a cool front move in that cooled things down into the low 50s F for my morning runs. I continued to just wear shorts and T but realized I needed to locate my cold running gear. I came across my bottoms without a problem but could not remember where I had stored the tops and after 3 days of looking off and on, finally found them in the closet of the spare bedroom... at the time I'm sure I felt like I would remember putting them there... another old-age oxymoron... So, anyway, Monday and Tuesday runs were a little warmer (mid-upper 60s), but another cold front moved through last night and the temp for my run this morning was 48 F, so I decided to run with shorts and a 1/4 zip long sleeve. I probably could have gotten by with just a T, but didn't get too hot, so it worked out.
Have a great day!
