Sharon near Seattle your cat.
Barbie "because none of you tells me..." Amen sister, AMEN! Jealous of your handyman.
Janet How can you resist pinching Matthew Grayson's cheeks or noogying his tiny tum?
Kathy in KY that medical coding degree sounds like just the ticket! On line classes? expensive?
Katla your wods about Barbie's leadership are so very very true!
Kylia (((hugs))) and prayers continue for you and yours.
Michele My rainproof pants are Boys XXL, I've had them for 20 years and they worked just as well yesterday as when I bought them. Of course, there wasn't much rain in Boise...
Viv we had to wait from February to May for our first roof replacement estimate. We won't be using them.
Karen in VA (((hugs))) held extra long. :brokenheart:
Cheryl in N. IL great plan for your horses and for you!
Lisa electric shock pain all evening sure doesn't sound right..., could you call the PT and ask?

Katla hope working with Arrow brought you some joy and returned energy.
NYKaren thanks for letting me see Florence through your eyes. Wandering about a new place sounds just right!
Machka aka Queen Of the Mountain - had to google it, and somehow knew you weren't talking about a mideastern city... are you sure you're only gently cycling?
Welcome Mary from ? and posbey. Please let us know what you'd like us to call you and your general location to help us keep you straight.
Channeled Barbie as I layered up yesterday to take Tumble to dog group. Driving through hail, I thought "This is ridiculous! Who's going to be there?" Turned out there were 9 of us hanging out in our cars waiting for the hail to pass. We got out in the rain and did what we came to do. My LL Bean rain jacket seemed to absorb the rain but kept it from penetrating my fleece tunic. Eventually the wind died down, rain stopped, sun shone and we were all happy to have persevered.
Got a reasonable bid to remove 5 tan oaks. eMailed asking him to confirm he carries workman's comp and liability insurance in case a tree falls on the house. Haven't heard back yet...
As for the roof, banker showed us how better to "smart refinance" than take out a home equity line of credit. On the downside it does stretch payments out for 20 years (and reaps them that much more interest), on the good side, we don't have to pay $800 for an appraisal, $XXXXs for closing costs and keep monthly payments nearly the same. Takes out more than enough for the roof, maybe a little left over for paying off the car or painting the house or or or...
Lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.

Hi all! I am new here but have used myfitnesspal in the past to lose weight and get control of my sugars. I am not sure what my sugars are right now as we were without health insurance for over a year and I did not check them. I had gest diabetes with my pregnancies and have been borderline type 1 for a while. Instead of going on meds I watched my carbs and exercised and brought them down.. but that was a couple of years ago. I am 51. Been married almost 32 yrs. I have 4kids.. one married almost a year (son) Another son who is 17 this Tues and two girls 13 and 9 1/2. We have always homeschooled and I work part time 20 hrs a week for WIC as a CLC (breastfeeding support). I am super busy and have to make exercise a priority. Wintertime here in Maine is hard though. Anyway I just wanted to say hi. Maybe checking in here will help me with motivation to keep going. The food thing is hard.. we eat lots of fruits and veggies but I have been lazy about meal planning lately. My son is a pescatarian too. My goal is to lose 25 lbs by July 1.. very doable and healthy but it's the motivation thing I'm struggling with. Looking forward to getting to know you all7

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! I had Jonah until 11:30 last night and won't have him again until Friday of this upcoming week! Both he and I are happy about that. This past week, his mom worked nearly every night due to it being Valentine week and many coworkers out with the flu (she is a server in a local restaurant). It was hard on him, her (and me). Oh, and Friday (after my confrontation with her over payment) she brought the state paperwork for me to fill out and will submit it on Tuesday (offices closed Monday for President's Day) AND she paid $100 towards her portion of what is owed to me! I also heard zero complaining yesterday from Tim. In fact, there wasn't a whole lot of dialog between us, so he could have just been sulking; but whatever works. lol My brain and mental sanity thank him for not speaking.
I made chicken soup yesterday (no noodles or rice) for my sickie DH. A double batch because I will eat it as well in order to ward off the sickness. I got my yogurt going and I also made a double batch of "healthier" banana muffins. Only 73 calories per muffin. Made with banana, applesauce, whey, and ground flaxmeal (among other basic ingredients). They turned out really yummy and even Jonah (Mr. Picky/I only eat four foods/isn't chocolate a food group?) ate two!
Allie- The BM Palladian Blue is what I have been thinking about for one of my bathrooms! It is a gorgeous color! I will probably get the paint swatch and take it to Home Depot and have them color match it with a less expensive paint, though. Right now, I can't afford Benjamin Moore.
Heather- Pulled out of the jaws of death by your own superhero husband! So glad it was just a close call. I bet he is as well; his heart must have been in his throat! I have been doing some simple stretches/simple yoga poses for 15 minutes each day the past two days and my ankles and lower back are feeling relief already. Interesting, but I think the yoga makes me think a bit more about my posture and holding myself a little more upright/centered. (Good posture used to be an automatic for me, not sure when I lost that!)
Karen with the twins- Adorable babies! BOGO! Lucky you! We have two or three other Karen's who post regularly on this site; do you have a last initial or perhaps location you want to add to your name to help identify you? (example: we have Karen in VA and NY Karen)
NYKaren- Florence! Buongiorno! How wonderful! Take pictures and breath in some of that italian air for me!
Kim- Love the coffee piece! Made me stop and evaluate what is spilling out of my cup! Thank you for sharing!
Barbie- I have had the same pair of YakTraxx for eight years. That is eight winters of wearing them on icy/patchy pavement. Four years ago, that was a run every day in them. They are made to handle pavement as well as ice. Don't worry about ruining them on pavement!
Mary- Welcome! Is it you who is doing the swimming?! 12 laps consecutively is nothing to sneer at; that is a great accomplishment. Swimming is so helpful to building up your muscle and heart strength! Keep it up, sister!
Lisa- I would think keeping you from over doing things post surgery is a concern for Corey. lol You are like a little energizer bunny.
Well, time for me to fly. I need to clean my house and do some paperwork before I can relax. I was supposed to have Trentin today, but he spent the night at his cousin's house on the east side of the state, so I unexpectedly have the day off! Sending love to all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
Good afternoon here in sunny Suffolk UK. I am 71 yrs of age and actually been a member here since 2014. Due to family circumstances I have been absent here for some time. Amazingly I am still down on my joining weight but that isn't enough. I reckon I want to aim for a 40lb loss. Size is equally as important and I don't want to end up looking like a shrivelled prune. So if 40lb is too much then I'll stop when I am happy with my size. Last year I embarked on a sugar free diet and not worrying too much about calories although I was on about 1200 at the time. I did lose weight and was shrinking at a rate of knots. I had a bereavement in the family and it knocked me for six. I am back now and taken it one step further I am doing "The Fast 800 Plan" by Dr Michael Mosley. If this goes well I will then do his 5:2 plan. Still doing my best to remain sugar free where I can. So far this has been really successful. If anyone is trying the same and wants support please feel free to add me as your friend.5

In person this is very breathtaking and weirdly profound.10 -
My research says there is a glitch in the software regarding the form you have to fill out if you owe more than $1000. I may end up having to print out the forms and mail them in. I am not happy with H&R Block right now (sorry, Trucker). I will call the help line one day next week. I read that there’s another update planned for Feb 22 that might fix it.
Our taxes are not hard. We should not be having an issue. We always have to pay federal but get more than enough refund from the state to cover it. Unfortunately, the IRS doesn’t like it if you underpay them. I’ve fixed it for next year. It’s not worth the hassle. I’ll just let them use my money for free all year. Sigh!3 -
Happy Sunday Ladies!
Our snow is nearly all gone... Barbi, Betsy, Sharon, Sue - hope yours disappears very soon. All roads and sidewalks here were bare and wet yesterday. We are due for a couple days of sunshine and I can't wait. I keep a pair of Yaktrax in my car - has saved my hiney more than once when navigating slippery black ice in parking lots.
Viv- loved hearing about your trip to London!
Heather - whew, so glad DH grabbed you back. Gave me the shivers reading about it.
I've been kind of "missing in action here" - staying away from the computer and back to re-reading my collection of Hamish Macbeth cozies by M.C. Beaton. Death of a..... Bore, Dentist, Dreamer, Maid, etc. I have a big list of more I need to add to my collection and will hit the gigantic used book store when I go into town tomorrow.
Once I'm through the Hamish books will start on the Agatha Raisins. Keeping my brain happy!
Barbara AHMOD - sounds like a great deal on the roof financing. Are you looking at a metal roof this go around? The old farmhouse that came with the farm where we last lived had an ancient shake roof. You could see daylight through it if you peeped your head into the attic. And it didn't leak. But we got a metal roof put on the baby as soon as we could afford it. Metal roofs were actually still inexpensive back then, it was the mid-90's.
Kelly - your interaction with Tim ref his complaining, job prospects really hit home with me. When my DH was diagnosed with RA, he was actually fired from his job. Depression was immense. He was in his mid 40's. I had just quit my job and was working part-time for my girlfriend who was an accountant and I needed to concentrate on doing sheep stuff. So the pressure was on for steady income. I think that spurred him on to get out and find something, he actually went into loss control for Safeway. I don't know how he did it since it was so painful for him to walk, and walking was that job.
But I do know it took his mind off the pain and forced him interact with people and use some strategy in apprehending shoplifters.
So I think you did the right thing in letting him know there's a time limit on how much time you're willing to spend on this daycare job that eats into your evenings and weekends.
I think often of the comment Rebecca made a few weeks ago, how she went from wife to caretaker and had to learn to go back to the wife role. I know with my DH, at our age (I am 67, he's 73) and the declining state of his health, I'm in caretaker mode and I'm OK with that. But I do know I started switching to that mode many years ago. For what its worth.
Kim - that cup post was just what I needed to hear!
Karen in VA - gosh, sorry to hear Bailey is going downhill.
I did a 21 hour fast yesterday and may do a repeat today.... have to sever my sugar binging somehow. Snow and icy slush are a huge trigger for me. Rain and gray skies - my idea of great weather!
Better post this before I lose it.

Kim love it. I copied your message.
Fortunately most of the time DH and I are on the same page. Financial difficulties between spouses can be heartbreaking. This is part of what happened to my sister in her second marriage. It was the financial mess of her second husband that created too much stress for her. They got into a situation that in hind site they should have walked away. Her father in law set up a financial situation that took them years to dig themselves out of at the cost of her health.

NYKaren - Thank you for that! Being able to see the details is breathtaking...
Lisa in AR2 -
I went exploring on my run today. On my way round I listened to Vaughan Williams Tallis Fantasia and 4 Last Songs by Richard Strauss. Both on Soul Music BBC 4. I also began the Allegri's Miserere again as it is the most amazing podcast ever.
Because I knew it would be very crowded on the front I took myself a slightly different way. I ran around the Lagoon (where I hope to learn paddle boarding in the summer) and inspected the large children's playground and paddling pool. Then I went to look in the café to see what they had . The Beach Café had been going out of business some years ago and it was bought, to save it, by a local celebrity, Fatboy Slim. There is a photo of him in the café in the local team's football strip. He is very famous in Britain as a DJ. Once he gave a free concert on the beach and caused total chaos and panic because 250,000 people turned up! :noway:
Then I ran around to where he lives in a strip of houses with their own private beach. I ran behind them and then down to where I could see through the beach fence. Nice balconies looking over the sea. Of course, they cost millions.
Then I carried on slowly shuffling until I had completed my 5k.
DH returned before me and said there were about 50 people queuing at our favourite ice cream shop. Amazing how a bit of sunshine brings people out, even in February!
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -

CockneyLady2014 - I am a big fan of Mosley's 5:2 and Fast 800. Pop in here often and let us know how you are doing - also, do you have a name you wish to go by?
By the way, I have gotten several friend requests that I haven't responded to - I am sorry but I don't use the "friend" feature here to casually interact with folks, just no time. So please don't feel offended.

Good morning to all,
Cockneylady2014 welcome back, so sorry to hear of a family bereavement. I am looking into the Fast 800 Plan, let me know how it works for you. I was thinking about an 800 calorie fast 2 days a week to start and monitor those results. Probably a March goal for me. I’m trying to absorb all the info here and make the best choices for me.
KJLaMore Thanks for the encouragement, I will keep swimming...adding laps weekly and moving. Just finished a 7, seven minute workout. I think I might try this several times a day on non swim days. I would walk, but there is too much snow and ice on the walkways, too much risk of injury. It’s worth a try and I can imagine it would be a detriment since I am moving!
Mary from Wi4 -
Kelly, Thank you for the info about the durability of the Yaktrax. I've been out walking for more than two hours this morning---some in the snow, some on icy surfaces, and a lot on pavement. I'm happy to know that they will be last even with walking on pavement. Tomorrow morning the temps will drop below freezing after rain today and there will be a lot of surprise icy surfaces when we walk before sunrise.
Mary from Wi, swimming sounds like a great choice if you have doubts about walking in the snow and ice. For me, I have been able to get out and walk on days when the snow and ice would have made it impossible to drive to somewhere to swim. The important thing is to figure out what will work for you.
Barbie from still snowy and icy NW WA6 -
Lisa: It sounds like you are doing well and jumping into the deep end of the pool. Be sure to put your physical health needs at the top of the to do list. :flowerforyou:
Karen in VA: I am sending good wishes for Bailey and hoping the vet will be able to help improve his quality of life.
Barbara the Southern Oregon Coastie: I did have a good time at the stable and I feel better today for getting out and visiting Arrow. He was in need of time out of the stall. I’ve been away from the stable for a while and there are big changes going on there. Nearly all of the boarding horses are gone. Two friends who were there are getting ready to move their horses elsewhere. My friend who owns the stable wants to retire and hopes to get someone in to run the stable or possibly sell it altogether. Change seems to be heading my way at a gallop. :ohwell:
Tina: Welcome to a great group! :flowerforyou
Klanders: Beautiful photos of David. WOW! Thanks for sharing.
Lanette: “I think often of the comment Rebecca made a few weeks ago, how she went from wife to caretaker and had to learn to go back to the wife role. For what its worth.” I hear you on the caregiver issue. My husband has several autoimmune diseases including diabetes and MS. He is gradually doing less and less. It worries me and there isn't much I can do to change that situation. We were much luckier in the snow storm than you ladies in Western WA. We had barely any and it is gone.
Barbie: We had Yaktrax in the past, lost them and bought more. Now I can’t find those, either. I am guessing they may be in our winter travel box, and it is in an inconvenient spot. I’ll look when I’m full of energy. :ohwell:
Today is bone density day, and I’ve done my job of taking meds, drinking loads of water and sitting upright. Now I’m having my first cup of coffee, and heading upstairs to sit with DH.

It is definitely on my radar. I don’t know what the implications are if I switch mid-submission and especially since I already paid $19.95 to e-file the state return, which is in limbo until the federal return is accepted. I will try to speak to a human either tomorrow or Tuesday. Depending on my customer service experience, we will see. I may chalk my already spent money up to “stupid tax” just to get it done. I hate having my taxes hanging over my head.
If the tax laws stay as they are this year, with such a high standard deduction, I will definitely move to a cheaper alternative for the future. I have been loyal to H&R, even back when they were TaxCut, so it will be a big change.

Karen with Twins ~ Love the cute suits on those handsome babies.
Heather ~ Thank goodness you husband was there.
Allie ~ Alfie is a doll.

That's all I can remember right now. Supposed to rain all week here.

Love you my friends,

Kylia--Sending hugs and prayers for everyone.
My DSIL was admitted to hospital Wednesday night and transfered to larger hospital Thursday morning. She has ALS and they had to put her on a trach vent. My DB is planning to take her home later this week after some trainning.
Machka--Thanks, I did look those roses up and will check the green house in town. Those are beautiful.
Karen-- Sorry to hearBailey is not doing well. Sending hugs and prayers. They are part of the family.
Michele--How fun, you will be busy painting and so looking forward to seeing when they are done.
Karen--so cute twins.
Heather--So glad you are alive also.
I am up to page 43 and will try and get back tomorrow. Things at picking up and all these meetings and reports.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE Where all it has done is snow and snow and snow.5 -
Hello Lanette and pleased to find another person following the same plans. I weigh in on a Tuesday morning and will post how I am getting on.

No workout, sick, kirby made me breakfast 🍳 in bed 🛌:0)❤️14

Been weighing myself everyday. I know, I know. But, I am almost always .2 less than the day before. Good to see.
Sharon – thanks. I hope to still be riding my horse, bareback, full speed at 75. Many of my friends still do (well not bareback, that’s my thing). If they can do it so can I!!!
Katla – I always look for your comments when I post. You’re one of the people who I always remember. Along with Barbie (she has poodles!!) and Michelle, and a few others.
TinaDuke – OMG, another Mom with what I call mid-life crises children. I’m 59 and have a 17 year old, a 19 year old, a 23 year old (step daughter) and a 40 year old. There’s literally 21 years between my 1st and second child, and 23 between my first and last. I’m told they keep you young. Schools out on that. Never heard the term pescatarian before. I could be one of those. I’m from New Orleans and have always eaten more seafood than other meats. Plus I’m an avid animal lover. Would love to quit eating them.
