Run at least 4 5k races.
Get under 30:00 and a PR for 5k.
Average at least 135k per month, which would put me over 1,000 miles for the year.

Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen

A nice day to run: temperature in the high 20s F, light breeze, and plenty of sunshine.

    2019 Races:

    4-13 Shine the Light 5K
    6-1 Freedom 5K
    6-30 Strides for Starfish 5K

    SOCKS!

I know this is a fairly personal recommendation thing but... for the winter I like Darn Tough socks but I need new non-winter socks. Was tempted to just grab another bag of "Nike Unisex Dri-Fit Crew" but with the price going up to $30 for 6 I thought I would ask around... any other suggestions? :) I do not like no show, or whatever. I like to have some sock above the shoe to prevent rubbing and what not.

The first running socks I bought a couple of years ago were WrightSocks I found on sale at REI, and after trying a bunch of different brands (including some recommended by you I think) they are still my go-tos, especially if I might be getting my feet wet. I sunk my foot ankle-deep in ice melt at the beginning of my run yesterday and completely forgot about it until getting home. And they do have crew and quarter options. ETA: I have several different styles of the wrightsocks and like them all, but the best are the double-layer ones.

When I got shoes on Friday, we also stopped at the Hanes Outlet store. They had Hanes crew-length socks, 13 pair per bag, for less than $20.00 a bag. They're 85 percent polyester, 14 percent cotton, and 1 percent rubber. I ran in them yesterday and today, and had no issues whatsoever.
I know you put in a lot more miles than I do, so they might not suit you as well as they suit me.

    Such a beautiful country!

I went trail running when I visited my sister in Oamaru a few years back, it's A memory that will stay with me forever.

Rubber? Add a little bounce to your step? I like the Hanes products. I have some men’s shirts that work as well as any tech shirt. The natural rubber would be a cautious choice for one like me who’s allergic to it. Great score on those socks!

Restarted c210k today cuz I’ve been sucking at running lately so I figured some intervals would help. They did! Still getting some niggles in my knee though

    March 16 - 3.1 miles

    47.07 + 3.1 = 50.17 miles for the month
Goal for the month = 80 miles
Miles left until goal = 29.83 miles

    March 17 - 11 miles

    50.17 + 11 = 61.17 miles for the month
Goal #1 for the month = 80 miles
Miles left until goal = 18.83 miles

Oops....I may have to up that goal a bit.

@ContraryMaryMary That looks like an amazing place to run walk. If I did it, there wouldn't be a whole lot of running going on. It's beautiful though. Wish you had been able to take in the view at the top.

Ditto. It looks amazing @ContraryMaryMary ! If only I were not terrified of heights....

Today is a bust for me running wise and maybe tomorrow too, breaking my streak. Not without good reason.

    Spoiler

Which is what happens when full size black cattle x 4 stand in the middle of the road in a light well at 0540 and you intercept the doing about 64mph.

I am fine, some bumps and bruises. The vehicle as you can see is not. The worst part of this is not the accident itself, but the fact that I only had 4 more months to go to pay it off.😖

Awwwww!! Glad you're not more hurt, but that's some crummy timing there.

Oh no, @workaholic_nurse! Thank god you are ok, that looks terrible. I'm assuming the cattle were probably not ok. That must have been terrifying.

@workaholic_nurse! Oh my! Based on the car pics, you are EXTREMELY lucky to have walked away with those minor injuries! So sorry for your almost paid off car too! Just try to take it easy and heal. Hopefully insurance will be of some help (for you and your car). Guessing the cattle didn't fair too well either :'(

When I was maybe 8-10 years old my dad came home with the front of the car all smushed (though still drivable) and told us he'd hit a deer. My sister and I were very worried about "Bambi" but dad assured us that the deer shook it off and ran away. It wasn't until many, many years later that I remembered the story and in a flash realized that my dad had lied to us. That said, black cattle are pretty tough...
