I'm awed at your shoe sale finds. Awesome deals! I'm a US 6 or 6.5, Euro 37. The good news is, there are usually plenty of shoes in our size! When I was a 7 or 7.5 they were always gone (popular size, I guess).
Welp, shoe twins, especially once I lose enough to fit into normal width again.
My best sale find was a $300 Calvin Klein peacoat for $35...that no longer fits at all. Lol. Well, I got to wear it for one season at least.
No surprise we're shoe twins
I had a few things I was sad to shrink out of (mostly shoes) but overall I was so unhappy with my shape when I gained that I didn't enjoy shopping at all. So my 'wardrobe' was really just to cover my nakedness and hopefully hide the rolls. Now, on the other hand.... Well, let's just say I've probably spent more on clothes this month than my husband did on the used bass boat he just bought
Oh snap, dats some money. I have a shopping spree planned for goal weight. One of my regrets the last time I lost was procrastinating on shopping when I hit goal. I never got to enjoy new clothes, I had one dress for work and the rest were thrifted, which was fine but not the same. I have definitely developed a "style" this time around so thrifting hasn't been as fun because I'm so picky, lol.3 -

I figure I'm catching up on 5 years of not shopping. Almost done, though! I'm fairly set for work clothes and just need to pick up a few more casual items.2 -
1) Not really my NSV but I'm claiming a partial credit on this one!
My dear little six year old was asking me yesterday about my bike ride leader qualification (I think that this was because I went to a meeting to discuss plans for rides last night) anyway, I told her that once she had learned to ride a bike properly then she could go out with me when I lead a ride.
What I wasn't expecting was for her to go to our regular, weekly cycling session today (it's at an athletics track, so a safe environment to learn how to ride a bike in) and for her to absolutely nail it! Last week she couldn't cycle on a two wheeler and resorted to using on a three-wheeler, today she was cycling round the track on a two wheeler AND getting herself started off. A bit wobbly but that just needs a bit of practice.
And I also wasn't expecting her to remember what I'd said about going out together on a ride but after lunch she was asking when we were going out for our bike ride!
I am so thrilled about this, especially as she's also been out running with me three times this week (plus a parkrun on Saturday and a junior parkrun on Sunday).
Planning to take her out on Sunday afternoon, unless something crops up. Otherwise it will be on Monday, as I want her excitement and delight at being able to cycle to carry on and help her progress.
As for MY NSV, yesterday I decided to tackle a hill that had defeated me the last time I attempted it (about three years ago). It was one hell of a slog but I did it (only to find that the road at the top of the hill was closed, causing me a major detour but that's another story entirely). Then, at the meeting about planning a ride schedule, they decided to go an a bike ride beforehand - up the same hills! Twice in one day - the other cyclists were quite impressed but not half as impressed as I was.
I also signed up to assist on four rides as well, and once I've done my first aid course on Monday, I'll be able to plan my own rides!

You get so so so much better at running and it becomes waaaaay easier. I wish I had known that hanging in there is so worth it!12

I feel compelled to add now, it's not a really NICE boat or anything Just something to float around on. The local fish are still quite safe, and my closet isn't that big.10 -

The important thing is to go back and keep pushing ahead the way you’re doing it. We all experience what you are going through even the best of us believe me ! Press on. That’s what matters.

Probably because it takes about a year for your face to tighten back up and not have the slight sag that does look like you may just been sick.
It is the common look after the flu or chemo skin sag.
Also, it happens to be that some people are sick and are offended when they are congratulated on looking better when they are actually dying. A coworker lost a ton Of weight, we all hoorayed for her and with her, and turns out she had major liver disease and was dead in a few months.lleeann2001 wrote: »Umm how.come when you lose weight and you look good some people come to you and the FIRST thing they say is "Are you sick?"

I don’t understand why a couple of people thought this comment is ‘woo’?
A lot of people think 'woo' is for woohoo! It's a stupid button.

It is a funny how your brain can trick your eyes into seeing how your body looks when looking into the mirror and you think nothings changed but when I look at before pics next to now pics I can see a diffrence or just simply how much better you feel and how your clothes fit better, you cant trust the mirror everything else is what you need to trust!!8

It's worth EVERY ounce of pain, struggle, sacrifice, woe, falling down and getting back on track, and UGH...getting down to size is, and forever ridding your mind, body and soul of the excess weight, unwanted and unheathly excess pounds, ounces AND inches from offa/outta your mind, body and soul is nothing less than fabulous AND powerful.
Everyone is different and many people will say nothing much changed in their lives once they got rid of the weight, they were/are basically the same person, just smaller. The GOOD NEWS is that although that is very true for many people...it's not everyone's truth. For many people (including little (literally) old me), y/our lives and way of thinking/living/being will forever and even drastically change for the BETTER, for sure! YES, it's true you will still have daily battles and struggles, but your way of dealing with them will change. Why? Because of the valuable life lessons you learned/are learning in/from the battle of the bulge you've fought/fighting and won/winning. You will be able to do things and see things in ways that you've never been able to before your weight blastification success. It's utterly amazing and wonderful!!!!!16 -

I enjoy every nanosecond of this journey because I know the end result - a healthier, fitter, more knowledgeable me. This time around, I'm working really hard to be so much more compassionate to myself. Self-love, mindfulness and self-compassion is vital for this journey.
I've realised that very few will be on this journey with you. And even less will celebrate your success. No one, but yourself, can rid of the excess weight. No one, but yourself, will change your mindset. And mostly, no one, but yourself, should congratulate your weight loss. Because at the end of the day, this journey is all about you and you need to be the centre of your own universe.14 -

That I could actually wear horizontal stripes. Optical ones, at that. I got dizzy just folding it. Can’t wait to wear it.
That I would wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat that I had mis-logged something, and then heave a sigh of relief the next morning when I realize, “oh, durrrr, I had cottage cheese and fruit, not Grape Nuts and fruit for that meal.”10 -

Wow...just WOW! What you've written is literally priceless and if we would DARE not only "take heed" to what you've written, but think about these real issues and DO these things/live this way daily--what a tremendously powerful and joy/hope inducing results would take hold on us and help us so very much. I love it and thank you ever so much for your reply!
How I WISH I would have learned (come to this REALization) what you've written earlier in my life and especially in/thru out my weight blastification adventure--but BETTER late than NEVER--YAY you and me and everyone that "(finally) gets it" ! You ROCK, period.

I have gone through enough heartbreak/heartache with those around me to know that I am the only person I can rely on. I have been way too hard on myself and put the needs of others ahead of mine. I hate calling it mistakes - but rather life lessons. I knew for this weightloss journey to be successful, I need to exhibit a lot more self-compassion, self-love and selfishness. I need to put me at the forefront, because no-one else will.
I live by this quote "The past has happened; the present is now; your future is yet to be written". I need to be in the now to ensure I can write my future. Most things don't happen by chance.

That you could get so annoyed by family members for not being able to decide what they want for dinner at 7am because you need to log those calories to make the rest of your day’s food work.
And then even more annoyed when they change their minds after you’ve logged the meal.
Also, that it’s ok to up your calories to maintenance every so often without guilt if the calories just won’t work to be less.24 -

Sometimes, if hubby is going to cook, he'll ask what I can fit into my day. I've got him trained well.21 -

That was me last night. Husband wanted to change up tonight's dinner. I said no - I've already allocated those calories and then told him he can make his own dinner. He is still having the Madras Beef I took out of the freezer, as I already planned4 -
That I was in such denial over my weight. When I thought I looked like a normal weight but needed to go up another size (or two, if I'm honest). I told myself I needed to lose 10 pounds. Now I know I was well into the overweight category and it was more like 40 pounds I needed to lose. Heck, I could lose 50+ and still be a healthy weight.
And TMI, but when you get close to goal weight you can literally *see* in your lower abdomen that it's only a matter of time before a poop is coming because it bloats up. No? Just me?11 -
I carry quite a bit of weight in my arms, and when I'm near a whoosh they get pretty squishy. I like to squish my underarm fat, it's like my new compulsive behavior because I'm trying not to pick at my skin and nails anymore. It's very squishy.11

Don't weight yourself too often!
There can be alot of fluctuation based on water weight6 -

This is a personal decision.
I like weighing myself every day and tracking a 10-day trend line. That is much more motivating for me, and keeps me in line better.18 -

When my BMI was 21-23, never personally observed this phenomenon in myself.
I suppose if ingesta is in your transverse colon and the bulk is significant enough, this is possible. But that would be on your abdomen between the end of your sternum and navel, below where your stomach sits in that area. If you are talking below your navel, that's the distal jejunum/ilium of your small intestine (so a while yet before proper poop ready to be evacuated from the rectum), uterus if a woman, and bladder.
But I am sure it may be perfectly normal for someone other than me. Probably also dietary habit dependent and what ones specific intestinal microbiology is/is doing.

One thing I've noticed is that my sports bras don't ride up and slide around like they used to!10
-
I've been reading this whole thread for many months, but never thought I would post. Not because I wouldn't lose the weight (I've lost 30 lbs) but because I was only slightly overweight so I didn't think there would be anything noticeable.
Yet I've noticed my wedding and engagement ring are loose on my ring finger. It's very annoying when I'm typing, which is 40 hours a week, and I get nervous now about wearing them in the shower. Also my shoes are a bit loose, which is mostly only a problem with ballet flats as those can slip off suddenly while walking. And it's much easier to correct my posture by aligning my pelvis properly (I have an anterior pelvis tilt) now that there is less weight on my lower belly.
I had expected to lose more evenly on my body than I did. But I've mostly lost in my hips and lower belly, which I understand is what a lot of other women want, but for me - having narrow hips - I still am nowhere near a flat belly despite being 21.9 BMI. And I've lost very little on my upper arms, chest, and shoulders. I can feel my clavicle now...even see it a tiny bit...but well, I guess I got to keep trucking with the weight loss to get those last unwanted pounds off.
Also, I learned that being in a deficit and lifting heavy weights - FOR ME - was completely not going to work. I never worked out when younger, so I have tons of muscle to build. And when I lift weights, I get so very hungry to the point that I end up sabotaging my calorie deficit. So I'll keep up with cardio and light bodyweight exercises until I get to goal, then increase to maintenance calories and lift.8 -

So funny you posted this today! Just yesterday I noticed how weird and squishy and bumpy my arms are underneath suddenly! Hoping its an approaching whoosh and not permanent!3 -

Me, too! Last time I was fixing to have a woosh my back started sticking to my mat and making farting noises during classes. It’s started doing it again. It’s embarrassing but it makes me randomly giggle. I’m sure they all think I’m nuts because I’m always noticing something new going on with my body and laughing inanely. I noticed my butt suddenly feels like orange peel, too.
My new compulsive behavior is prodding my arm muscles. I have several really wierd hard peanut sized lumps on both arms. They’re fairly symmetrical so I don’t think they’re anything to worry about, but they feel so wierd I’ve started unconciously digging my fingertips into my arms when I talk to people.6
