I slept well and am up ,showered and dressed and having my tea.. looks like I will have to go get my small suitcase out as an overnight bag will not do..
I did speak with the nurse at nursing home last night.. I like her alot..she said the Dr was in and really saw how much DFIL has deteriorated...she did tell him about the eating excitement and he said its the calm before the storm..
he doesn't go and examine patients much, he listens to what the family and nurses say and check out the patient charts and thats about it... but he must have seen him while he was there yesterday
i was speaking with Kelly (the nurse) and I told her I wouldn't put it past him if he went while I was away.. and she looked me in the eye and said DONT you feel guilty.. not one bit. you have been there through it all..
I know I have but he has been such a big part of my life there will be a huge void.....
I have been hemming and hawing about my job and expenses... Connecticut is going to kill me ,it is sooooo expensive to live here. and working part time and alimony are going to get eaten up if I dont do something..
will speak with a financial advisor and see what my options are..2 -

Machka, just reading about everything that you do, seemingly at once, exhausts me! Don't quite know how you manage to get it all done!
Lists!
And my calendar.
Essentially, I just do what's next on the list.
Congrats to Michele, Rebecca, Lisa, Evelyn and their families.

Good morning all! Happy Monday! I want to start off by sending love to all of the grandma's of the new babies! Rebecca, Michelle, and Evelyn and anyone I have missed- Athena Rose, Peter Joseph, and Rosie! New babies are so exciting! Both of the girls are beautiful. Can't wait for a pic of PJ.
My Saturday with Trentin went well. A late start on the shopping (he slept from 6am-10:30). Along with the shopping, I had a couple of errands to run. One was to Staples for copies and the other was to Home Depot. Trentin thought he had died and gone to heaven. He is a gadget kid. Not just electronic gadgets, but little things to fiddle with. So both stores with their aisles of office supplies and hardware were entrancing to Trentin. lol He announced that those two stores are his two new favorite stores and "can we go there again next week?". While we were at Aldi he pulled a stick out of his coat pocket and proceeded to make "music" on the shopping cart the entire time we were there. (to get a sense of what it sounded like; imagine a child running a stick along a metal fence- a metallic drumroll). I was a little worried he was annoying the other shoppers, but then he found a metal lid to a jar in his pocket (the kid carries around unusual things) and used that to make "music". That was loud. So I told him to stick with the stick. Anyway, the day went well. We were able to do everything. Even spent about 20 minutes watching the chocolatier work his magic. Trentin picked out two pieces of chocolate and the owner gave him two pieces for free as it was his birthday! So he had a nice little box of four chocolates. Trentin was so pleased and happy with that box of chocolate. Once the bow was on it he never opened it up. He gave me a hug when he left.
Yesterday was quiet. I slept in until 6:00, then stayed in my pj's until noon, doing paperwork and food prep and drinking coffee. Colin, my youngest son, was at his girlfriends for the weekend and he came home about 3:30. He asked if I wanted to go out to dinner for mother's day, but I already had planned to make Mongolian Chicken for dinner (so that I could have the leftovers for lunch for the kiddos today). SO...he actually stayed in the kitchen and HELPED! He learned how to make the sauce which involves mincing garlic cloves and grating fresh ginger. I was so proud of him! lol His girlfriend is not an adventurous eater nor does she cook (she is one of those chicken strip kids; that is pretty much all she eats when she goes out); so Colin has decided that he needs to learn to cook so he doesn't have to eat what she eats.
I had two open day shift spots in my childcare, that will begin in June. One spot is filled. Great new family with a 10 month old boy. The other spot will be filled by the end of the week. Either by a family with a two year old girl or by a family with a 2 1/2 year old boy. That is a load off my mind.
Tim and I are both fighting colds. Mine is not bad and seems to have just taken the form of loss of voice. Tim, with his poor immune system, feels like he has been hit by a truck. Sinus and chest congestion, cough, sore throat, body aches (but I think that has more to do with his RA and the effects of the coughing). *sigh* It just needs to warm up. It has been a cold and rainy spring.
Well, here come the other kids. I better sign off. Love to all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Good Monday Morning! I didn't sleep well last night...feet were burning and I kept getting muscle spasms in the leg with the new knee. After 2 PM before I finally drifted off and then the burglar alarm went off. Ugh! Probably a spider in the basement set it off. Hoping today will be better.
Love all the baby pics and can't wait til Michele shows her new little one.
Allie ~ Try to enjoy you trip to listen to Joyce and try not to worry about the expense and FnL.
Good wishes for anyone needing them and hugs all around!

Vicki - I think deep down inside Denise is glad to have me. I don't know about Pete. He's so "macho" that he doesn't like asking for help. I know Denise felt bad the other day, PJ was up a lot of the night so I told her that I'd watch him so she could get some rest. Pete's answer? Take the swing up to the bedroom so when PJ fusses he can put PJ in the swing. Where in the bedroom they have it is beyond me. To say their room is small is putting it mildly. And Pete wanted a king size bed (the room is probably big enough for a queen size), a big dresser with a large TV on top. The guest room I'm in there isn't even room for a bureau. Just a queen size bed (the room is probably only made for a double or single) and a small table with a lamp). There really isn't room for anything else.
Evie - congrats!
Congratulations to Lisa. To be honest, what happened?
Oh, I really do want to leave Sat. This stress eating is killing me. Today I had french toast fried in BUTTER.
As far as yesterday...can we say "uncomfortable"? Get there, his mother has potatoes cut up for mashed potatoes (I had my sweet potato since I can't take that back with me). We won't mention that I brought all the potatoes. I asked her if she had a salad spinner. "Oh, I have the salad already made". The only veggie she had was the california medley (which was really overcooked...so mushy) that I brought and the mashed potatoes. You won't believe what i brought home. Today Pete, Denise and PJ are supposed to go to Philly to see his grandmother and I'm planning to take things back to WalMart. When we got home yesterday Pete says "we can have the dinner you wanted to make. Ah...no. The idea was for one thing that I would be extending an olive branch to his mother and also Denise only has service for 4. Even his mother said that she needs service for at least 8. My thought was she is probably feeling "why do I need it?" Well, with 5 of us, she'll see why she needs it. but we have to have the food Pete wants cooked the way he wants. I brought over one of the packages of chicken (I'll see if I can return the other package and just tell Pete that I had to return it since the soonest I could make it would be Thurs and that'll be beyond the expiration date.) It seems that Pete, his mother and father are totally oblivious of my feelings. I was with his mother all the time she was cooking the chicken on the grill (some of it came out, to me, quite dry). I asked that my piece not have the barbecue sauce on it. So what does she do (I don't know if this was intentional...I doubt it) she put barbecue sauce on the thigh that I asked to have. So I had the legs (that she cooked as long as she cooked the breast which is probably why they were dried out). I helped set the table and clean up (that's just the way I was taught)
After dinner his mother had to wash the stove. I can understand the dishes, you might need the sink for something else. But the stove? Maybe it's just me, but I let something like that go and spend time with my company. To me, they are more important than a stove. But that's just me.
Found out that PJ had to come home from the hospital wearing the outfit that Pete bought him. I asked Denise if he had my MIL's sweater on (she made it when she was pg with Vince, Vince came home from the hosp in it, so did Jess, Bryan and Denise). Nope.....guess Pete didn't want it.
I'm going to tell Denise that I was thinking of leaving Sat. but if she wants me to stay longer, I will. I have enough clothes for another week. But I have a feeling that Pete doesn't want me. The sad thing is that (and i really don't know why) Denise just acquiesces to whatever Pete wants and she won't stand up for me or Jess.

So happy to hear about all the new little ones! Athena, Rosalie, and Peter Joseph pretty much come close to sharing birthdays. We'll be looking forward to their 1 year birthday photos
Carol - your Mother's Day lunch was a great idea. You've made me hungry for egg-salad sandwiches. If I remember right, you mentioned not being able to get up off the floor - are you still going to physical therapy? If so they might be able to help with that. So happy your recovery is going well. Just read about your burglar alarm and burning feet (me too) and muscle spasms. Hope you can get some rest today.
Lisa - what a lovely family photo! Hope your issue can be resolved quickly. Neat photo of your mom! Love the "if it doesn't make you feel fabulous" poster. very true!
Barbie - that's great the internet Tech was able to come out yesterday and get you fixed up. You have a great service provider. Sounds like you had a fabulous day.
Heather - I finished watching Silent Witness last week and was looking for a new series. Happily "The Durrells" is available on Amazon Prime. Glad your lunch went well.
Allie - have a good time seeing Joyce, bet she's even more powerful in person. Your FIL might indeed choose to leave while you are gone. I am amazed that he's still eating as much as he is. You've given him great care and love, that's for sure.
Kelly - I bet Trentin had the best birthday ever. I would imagine him spending the day with you is like being at "Grandma's house" - just from the special care he gets. Glad your open slots have been filled. Lucky kids get to be in your care! Neat that Colin helped you cook Fixing food from scratch is not as easy as it looks.
I spent Mother's Day outside most of the day it seems... after last week's "summer" we are back into spring with weather in the 60's and rainy the next ten days or so. My tomatoes had such a growth spurt I planted my "trees" yesterday.... and that was a work out. But, it's done.
It's about 2 weeks earlier than I normally plant them and I know I'm flirting with frost. Will get the cages around them and remay (row cover) ready in case I need to put blankets around them in the next couple weeks.
Anyhow, my morning stretching and SWSY is paying off - I feel pretty good today despite plenty of shovel work and dragging bags of soil and bending over putting those kids in the ground.
Speaking of stretching, I'd better get to it. Have a wonderful week, ladies!

Sounds like our house!
We've got a decently large, fairly open living area (kitchen, dining and living), and three bedrooms.
One bedroom is our sleeping room with a king-sized bed and night tables.
One bedroom is the dressing room with the dressers and wardrobes.
One bedroom is about half the size of the other two, and it's the office.
Funny thing is, the bathroom is huge, and there's a separate toilet of course, and laundry room. I'm not sure why they didn't put the toilet into the bathroom shift the laundry room over, and make what is our dressing room about 3.5 feet wider, but Australians do like their separate toilets.
It works for the two of us.
About the king-sized bed, we've used a queen sized bed for a bit, and then, after travelling around Europe for a while and sleeping on decent beds, we decided to get one too. Our king-sized bed is two twins which can be joined together to be one bed, or separated into two twins. That's how the beds were in Europe too. That meant that we got matching bases, but different mattresses. I like a firmer mattress and my husband likes a softer mattress. So we got what we wanted.
Since my husband's accident, we've actually separated the bases. The beds are next to each other, but not touching. It's because we're both restless sleepers now and would wake each other up if the beds were one. So that's one benefit of the king-sized bed.
Another benefit is that as two twin beds, they are so easy to move. There's no struggling with a huge mattress etc.
This is a photo of our base and mattresses in a previous house.
Our little house. This photo was taken some time ago. The yard is actually neater than that since my husband has been home from the hospital and doing the gardening.

Monday
7.6 km walking
5 flights of stairs
And we (my husband and I) went to one of our physiotherapists and were assessed for small classes ... so it looks like we'll start going to a modified pilates class tailored to our individual needs starting toward the end of the month.
Part of the reason for all that walking was getting to and from the physiotherapist business, but the bulk of it was walking to uni and between uni and work.
And this evening has been a homework evening.

Evelyn- beautiful new granddaughter. I bet you will find out that you will be needed lots more with two little ones to care for now. Glad you did a good job while you had him.
Lenora- the only time I use essential oils is at yoga. They are passes around. My headaches aren’t mirGrains but a four word description that means really bad headaches that don’t go away. I discovered that I felt much better after yoga so have decided it had a lot to do with muscles. I started doing. AM Yoga with Rodney Ye and it is helping.
Off to balance class, sounds easy but it is so good for me.

Michele - Congratulations on the new Grandson. I'm sorry you aren't enjoying your trip, I hope that have some good memories out of it. Can't wait to see pictures of PJ. Hugs to you.
Evelyn - Congratulations on the new Granddaughter. What a pretty name, one I haven't heard in years. We are supposed to get some rain here in Alberta for the next week. It will be miserable but it would be nice if we could avoid all of the fires for a year. There have been too many consecutive summers of them. Rosalie is adorable. I'm so happy that you had your Grandson to yourself for a little bit, hopefully you get many more occasions to do that.
Vicki - It seems like you have been working all the time, it might be nice to only work 40 hours, but I bet that money will be missed. It's always a dilemma isn't it?
Janet - I have been finding it hard to keep up too. I find if I miss a day it takes me forever to catch up.
Kim - My feet suffer terribly in the summer because I like the cute sandals instead of the ones that offer proper support. I was thinking about that this morning as I took my first steps. I truly hate having anything on my feet period, but think I may have to give in soon. I may look for a maxi for the shower I am attending on Saturday for Kaitlyn and Brodey, I am meeting his extended family for the first time so would like to look nice.
Kelly - I bet Trentin had a birthday he won't ever forget. It's not the stuff we remember years later, its the experiences and how they made us feel. I almost teared up about him with his little box of chocolates. The children in your care are truly blessed. I hope you and Tim feel better soon.
Machka - I find a lot of newer homes have funny layouts here in Canada now too. The bedrooms are so tiny you can barely fit anything in them. I think they plan the for children but don't think about spare rooms where you need double beds.
I had a great Mother's Day, Kaitlyn and Brodey came out and cooked supper for me. They arrived with a bouquet of flowers and a nice cards. I didn't see Lauryn and the Grands but spent part of Saturday with them. We called my MIL after Kaitlyn arrived yesterday so she had a chance to talk to her Grandmother. During our conversation she told us that she wouldn't be able to come out for the wedding due to the cost of the flights. After we got off the phone Brodey told us he had been preparing for this and he would be paying for her to come if that was the only thing holding her back. We called her back and asked her if her ticket was bought if she would come, so she is coming. She at first refused to accept his gift, but we managed to convince her. She will be the only Grandparent in attendance. I have to buy another twin sized bed and figure out how to fit it in, but I'll make it work.
I have to admit that that was the best Mother's Day gift I could ask for. I love my MIL and love spending time with her.
Today I am going to take my walk early and try to figure out what I am going to wear to my interview tomorrow. I have had dreams twice this weekend where I was told I didn't get the job. I hope that those dreams don't come true. I really want to get back to work, on the other hand being off for the next 6 weeks leading up to the wedding would be nice too. It will play out the way it's supposed to, worrying about it only makes it worse.
I am off to do some crafting for the wedding.
Have a great day,
Tracey in Edmonton

My son texted me last night to ask us to pick up the kids today. He has an unexpected appointment in London. DDIL works in London on Mondays and gets back late.
So here I am with Bea while DH has gone off to fetch the older ones from Kids Club. I've fed her and we have had a snack to keep us going. We are glad to be of service.
Next door but one has an Open House for Arts for the festival. I popped in and saw a gorgeous bowl. I feel it's a bit expensive though.
We will be doing baths etc. Hope my son isn't too late. I will put Bea to bed.
I could do with a quiet day soon, but tomorrow is very busy too and I'm going to Southampton on Wednesday for my brother 's birthday. Oooofffff!!!
Much love, Heather UK XXXXXX6 -

Went to a work thing and it was fine but I found the dynamic stressful at the end. there was a drink and many use the time to network. Since I'm adjunct status in non-main subject my status is low. on one on one people are friendly but in networking scene people want to speak with people of similar or higher status, and for those of us with lower status it can be uncomfortable. Probably even below us are some of the support staff, and so on. I did work for free for oral entrance exams, basically for the networking opportunity (90 teachers are there), and found it rather so-so whereas it took up most of the day.
My thesis director is not supportive at all. I really had to insist to get an appointment. I've met with her one on one 1x in 4 years. She's pretty negative, well has favorities and there is some corruption. in fact her big favorite who gets all the opportunities, finances, etc, is a beautiful young phd student who's been sleeping with one of the top directors for 4 years. I was just looking up level of corruption per country. I think USA falls in the mid high teens (like 17th least corrupted country in world) and France falls around 23.
I'm finding it's everywhere.
I feel bad about it on a world level and really bad about it when I encounter in professionally which has been happening a huge amount these past years.
Then there's sexism, (most of the teachers in 1 school are men who lunch with men and hire more men) and I feel so discouraged.
Great for SV at least. didn't track at all yesterday as we had work meal and snack after. had a glass of wine alone when I got home rather than at work function.
going to gym and then will work on thesis all day today and tomorrow.
Congratulations on the SV!
On the other part, I wish I could offer some encouragement. I know that getting through academia is stressful and very unfair in so many ways. I was lucky, but I also had moments of humiliation and devaluation. I don't know why it is this way so much -- I wish everything could be on merit, but I am not naive enough to know that happens enough.
Hang in there. Remember other people can't define you, even though they may try.
