JRsLateInLifeMom Thank you for your post and your insight. Yes, he did all of that, and more. I expected him to so I wasn't surprised when some of the so-called "reasons why she left" that he gave to others made their way back to me. They were hilarious! It's ok. I'm ok. It took me 3 years and a lot of internet research on malignant narcissism, but I have healed mentally, moved on and am now ready to heal physically. I'm doing this for me, my kids and my super cute 10-month-old grandson. Mostly for ME though. Not even worried about finding "Mr. Right." There are worse things in life than being alone. Trust me, I know.
Moving forward, I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it was a good one. For every 10 pounds I lose, I'm going to give myself a little reward. As I progress, the rewards will (hopefully) get bigger and better. So, here goes:
10 pounds = Pedicure (not the quick and cheap one that I usually get, but the NICE one that costs $20 more and you get the VIP treatment plus an extra 10-minute foot massage).
20 pounds = New jeans (Nice ones. We have jeans day every Friday at work. I work with a lot of millennials and GenY people. Not that I'm trying to "look" just like them, but I think I deserve to have a pair of jeans that are a bit more trendy than what I've got).
30 pounds = New sheets / comforter I've been eyeing for a while. (It's gorgeous!)
40 pounds = Horseback riding lessons. ( I think I should be able to haul myself up into a saddle by that time without 1) passing gas and 2) killing the horse).
50 pounds = New kayak. (My old one was a birthday gift from the Malignant Narcissist "MN", which he took back when I left).
60 pounds = New dining set that's been sitting in my Wayfair cart for ages. (Gonna have to wait a little longer).
70 pounds = New living room furniture. (Not sure what I want yet, but I'm getting SOMETHING!)
80 pounds = Start planning that trip to Scotland! (Even if I have to go alone, I'm going).
Daily goals:
1. Stay within daily calorie range.
2. Log, log, log, log, log.
3. H20 x8.
4. Read, journal, and check-in on loved ones.
5. Start s-l-o-w-l-y exercising. (I am SERIOUSLY out of shape. The walking in Chicago did me in for days).
6. Cut way back on the alcohol. (I thought I would be sad about this, but strangely, I'm not. Funny how when you REALLY set your mind to something, you can actually achieve it. Hmmmm).
Thanking you all for your kindness and support. Have a wonderful day!
Nancy from Michigan
P.S. Still working on that photo.

Thank you! Ireland is also on my list of places to see. I hope you enjoyed your me day and chicken salad.
Michele: Ditto on the pool! Lovely. Don't know if I'll make it to a pool this summer since summer is no where to be found here in chilly Michigan. 65 for a high today and cloudy. Our state color is dull gray.

Heather - It sounds like it was a marvelous tribute to your friend. "Tart myself around on social media", I agree that seems to be how people get noticed more and more now. You should get at your writing so you aren't feeling even a tad bit jealous.
Rebecca - It sounds like those bottles sure have a hold on your sister. Hopefully you can look past them and remember fondly the woman she was before they got hold. How long do you stay there before going to your son's again?
Barbara - I hope you find out what is going on with your legs soon, that sounds very worrisome.
Allie - I have been in your shoes before and it's not a good place to be. One thing I learned though is that you have to prove to them what isn't working. Although your morals tell you not to leave when a job is unfinished or people need you still, the only way they will see a change is needed is if you actually do leave at your 39 hours. I would say to Dr. Pandey, "per your wife's instructions I am to leave when I reach 39 hours, that time is up and there are still patients in the waiting room... (whatever the case may be), I am no longer willing to work without proper compensation (which I assume overtime is a legal requirement), how would you like me to proceed"? Your giving him the heads up that you are overworked at the same time you are standing up for yourself. He will either pay you or tell you to leave, either way you know where you stand. I hope you find a perfect job soon.
Machka - Congrats on getting the exam done, that must be a relief. Do you get a break now for a bit, or are you starting another course right away?
Nancy - Maybe you need to start a jar of money, put so much aside for every pound lost. It will help you afford all of those rewards
I am using my Cricut to print cookie bags for the wedding, I started around 2 hours ago and have numbers 37 and 38 in the machine. I have 200 to do in total.
I think I'll take a break from this at number 40 and go mow the lawn, it needs it and Rodger has been working hard all week. I'll surprise him and call it an Anniversary present. We have been married 32 years today, I'm not sure where that time has gone!

Sharon--Thanks for the advice of asking Siri. I have not used that before so will give it a try.
Heather--Glad the service was nice, sounds like she was a very speical lady. Love the outfit and the shoes look great!
Kim--I could not deal without AC. Be sure and drink lots of water and take care of yourself.
Beth--Sending hugs and prayers for all that you are going on with hearing and lupus.
Michele--WOW!! can I just come stay in your pool yard for a couple weeks. Beautiful.
Rebecca--So sorry about your sister.
Nancy--Your goal idea is great. I will have to do something like that.
Tracey--Happy Anniversary. I know the years fly by. We will be 35 years in Nov.
Well one more day and we start vacation. I will be off until the 17th. So looking forward to it. Not sure what the plans are, but DH and I will take off and end up who knows where. I just want to do as much walking as possible and relax.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE4 -
Tracey- I hope you have a fantastic day together with Roger!

Did Prevention’s Belly Butt and Thigh DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD for the bosu
Last night at ceramics I got these cukes for free and a box of Thin Mint girl scout cookies which I’m giving to Jess.
Beth – for whatever reason, I never thought of bringing in dirt and putting it over the stumps. What a great idea. I did put some of that stump remover stuff in the stump but someone on here told me it can take anywhere up to 10 years for it to fully disintegrate and I don’t want to wait THAT long before I can plant grass. Why I never thought to put dirt on top and let it take the years to disintegrate, I don’t know. But thanks for giving me the idea. Good luck with the implant. I certainly hope it isn’t Lupus!
Tracey – you’re welcome any time at all. Really, everyone is
Rebecca and bananas – (((HUG)))
Put down weed killer then took more up-to-date pics of the pool. I know people have asked to see all the ceramics, but as you can see, the pool area is quite large and it would take me MULTIPLE pics to get them all in. Looks like you all will just have to come see them….:) Now to go start washing the windows since it’s pretty cool today (the sun isn’t beating down)
Pip – yes, that is our house and pool. Do you think Yogi would like to go down the slide??????
Washing the windows right now. I keep telling Vince that the
bushes in front of our house are way way too big. He doesn’t think so. I couldn’t squeegee some of the windows because the pole kept getting caught up in the bush. Vince came out some and squeeged those windows. To me, the bushes are way too large, but he won’t budge. I finished the windows (at least the ones that are going to get done). They were really filthy. Well, they haven’t been washed in 12 years. It really would have gone a lot faster had I had help. I guess I just don’t have a lot of patience for someone being in pain all the time.
Terri – we have a heat pump for the spa, but it would take too much for us to heat the entire pool, and we’re in NC where the water gets to in the 90’s in August

I’m bummed! Had a big ok’ post written and in the middle of it MFP app just restarts!
My hip is bursitis and chiropractor won’t help but acupuncture does. I need to find a combination acupuncture/chiropractor near me like I had in CT who would treat it for me. Meanwhile, I do Yoga stretches and specific stretches to target it that I learned the last time. Seems to be healing faster this time.
Bursitis is very common for people who have a tendency to get tendinitis (me) or have legs that are different lengths (me). It is fluid filled sac at your joints called a bursa that gets inflamed for various reasons. A more common place to get it is in your shoulders, but can occur in hips, knees, and elbows too. Many times as a result of injuries or repetitive actions. I aggravated mine by standing in one place working in the rental office and making quick movements to hand ou equipment as if I was younger! Got to slow down when working there (tomorrow!).
Forgot what else I had on my post, so laters ladies!

🥂 Happy Anniversary 🍾
Time flies when you’re having fun!
We were married 53 years ago on 25 July. People said we would never last! Proved them all wrong!

Allie, too bad Dr P doesn't seem to care. I agree with Tracy from Edmonton, when it's time to leave, or just before, let him know that you are on your way out the door in, say 30 min, and "this, this and this are half finished" or whatever and let him make the decision as to what he wants you to do. And why only 39 hours? Is that the limit for your state? We are 40 hours here, I think in all of Canada, before OT kicks in. There is also something about 8 hours and then you are supposed to get OT, it can depend on the job and the total amount of hours worked. For instance, I work an 8.5 hour day, but only work 4 days per week, so I don't get OT. The extra 30 min is in lieu of an unpaid lunch break. This means we get paid for a lunch break, but if it gets busy while we are having lunch, we are expected to get up and help out. I try to pack my lunch accordingly!
Michele, your pool area is lovely! I think I have an extreme case of pool envy, and I'm not all that keen on swimming!
Tracy Happy Anniversary!!
Rebecca, so sorry about your sister and her addiction. Please do be careful in the car with her, maybe suggest that you could be her designated driver? Although that could backfire and she might drink a lot more..... {{{Hugs}}}
Heather, lovely outfit!
Lisa, hope your day goes well and that you're not too pooped out at the end of it. Smart packing the essentials! and I did chuckle about the coffee maker being one of those!
Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!
Stinking hot here yesterday, but it has cooled off considerably here today, not sad about that! The warmth yesterday was nice, but it was too much, I would not do well in a really hot clime!
Evelyn, Vancouver Island1 -
Thank you all for the Anniversary wishes.
Terri People said that to us as well, gave us a year. I also had a friend that refused to stand up with me because she thought I was making a mistake. I would never say those things to anyone.
Tracey2 -
The book launch went well. Jess looked lovely and gave a nice thank you speech. DH spent most of the time keeping Bea amused - the others were ok looking after themselves.
I decided to bite the bullet and mentioned an idea for a book that I have to Jess's publisher and to her agent. It was horribly hard to do, but I made myself do it. Felt an idiot, but pleased I plucked up the courage. They both suggested I start by creating a website and a podcast. My idea is for older women - something to encourage and inspire, while examining the trials of getting older. About stretching to be our best selves and not just giving up.
DH says he will help me, so the next step is to do some research into all this. I don't want it to distract me from finishing my memoir, so will have to allocate a different time of day to it. My sons should be able to help with the technicalities.
A sad thing today is that DS and DDIL had valuable and sentimental jewellery stolen. They only noticed it this morning, along with other small items, though it could have happened at anytime recently. The likelihood is that is was one of the cleaner's helpers, who has a key. Other than that they might have left the door unlatched at some point, or any number of possibilities. Her grandmother’s pieces are gone. And other special pieces.
We share the same cleaners, so I'm in a bit of a quandary as to what to do. I might insist that I only want them when the boss is with them. I have very little valuable jewellery or other items and we are in the house when they are there and they don't have a key, but I have lost my trust. I feel I would have to hide everything!
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Oh Heather, I would feel the same way. I think I would have to let the cleaners go. It would be very easy for them to slip a piece of jewelry in a pocket and you would never know until they were gone.
Happy Anniversary Tracey!
Hugs to all who need them!
Okie in the TX Hill Country2 -
Heather ~ So sorry about the stolen items. When my BnL's house got burglarized last week, they took a hard drive that had all (and I mean all) his information about financials on it. DH had to close the accounts and hopefully no further harm will be done.

Well ugh another lousy day.. he nit picks so much that I cant get my work done everyone left and I was there until 5:45 .. and I have another 8 hr day tomorrow and 5 and a 1/2 on Saterday..by the time I get home I'm mentally exhausted and ready for bed...4
-
Had a bit of heat stroke I think while doing yoga. Need to keep heat in mind next time. Very little humidity so doesn’t feel as hot as it really is until my body tells me!
Ok now. Hip feels better after stretches so have to continue but heat consciously!
Have to work rental office next two day and predictions of 101 degrees. Going to make sure to bing a cooling towel with me for sure! Water is supplied in the fridge. I’ll also need to wear sneakers instead of Sandals to keep my hip happy.
Laters gals!

Hotel for the night - one I really like, Hilton Garden Inn. Back in to corporate office for another meeting in the morning, for which I'll be doing some pre-work at the hotel, and then back home by noon or 1 p.m. Could be worse.
Back to Little Rock on Monday for a corporate training, here both Monday night and Tuesday night.
Such is life.
Oh, and they slated me for scoping my stomach and my colon at the same time in early July. Probably worth doing - 60 is just around the corner... worth having a baseline, but don't honestly expect them to find much, if anything. Unworried. But, since I have to be off work anyway, and grant work is a little slower right this minute, am taking it as an excuse to take the week off from Thursday, July 4, to the following Wednesday. Need to burn some PTO, as I still have 12 days I must use before Sept. 30 and no plans to do so. This will take care of four of them, anyway.
Rita - I don't miss that heat at all. Sounds like you know all the ways to cope, though.
Kim - all my sympathies... I wish I had a solution for your own issues with heat.
Heather - oddly enough, I was thinking about doing a similar something on aging, but the idea of a website and podcast gives me the heebie-jeebies. Done the web thing for the last decade, and just kind of over it. More power to you. Sorry about the theft of your DDiL's jewelry, it's horrible to think of a stranger profiting from things that mean so much to you. Or even touching them, for that matter.
Tucked in my room safe and sound for the night, already in my jammies at 6:30 p.m. Exhausted. So glad I didn't try to drive the three hours back.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
Tracey: Happy anniversary.
Heather: Congrats to your DDIL. I love the book idea you pitched. I think once you start, the wisdom will pour out.
Beth: I hope all goes with with the hearing aids and skin check. Proud of you.
Rebecca: How painful to watch your sister in clutches of the disease of alcoholism. My brother is drinking again, and his live-in GF is six months sober. Last night she asked him to move out. She called me and said she thought he was trying to kill himself, and she didn't want to watch him die in her house. I spoke with him today and got a different version of the story. I believe the truth is somewhere in the middle, so I am hoping he takes me up on invitation to come live here with us if only to give them a breather from each other. He'd be a huge help to me with DH.
Michele: I remember fondly seeing your pool and enjoying salmon patties Vince cooked on the bbq for us. Next time I visit, hope to get in the water
Injury update: Smaller boot is a blessing, but still have issues with sleeping while wearing it. I'm regularly getting in over 6k steps with little to no pain. Also have started the PT exercises they gave me with adjustments for the left ankle. I try to keep that foot as rigid as possible to avoid jostling the fractured little toe. Doing stretches and arm exercises in the pool has been beneficial, and I'm getting my tan back.
Stay well friends. We can do this!

Carol – yes, that is a two car detached garage that we had built. We have a 2 car garage as part of the house, but Vince wanted the detached garage. There IS a vehicle in there. But only one. The other half of it on the bottom is his music studio. The entire upstairs is his train room. Men and their toys….lol
Tracey – happy anniversary. Irish Terry – WOW! 53 years
Heather – so sorry for your DS and DIL. Aren’t most cleaners bonded? A ring my father gave me was stolen and I know by whom. It was at the Y and it was taken by this little girl. I just keep saying to myself “she needed it more than I did”.
Rori – it’s great to hear that you’ll be here again. And you’ll be able to see all the ceramics. By then, I’ll probably have more. Can’t wait. Great news on the smaller boot
Mary – we’re having a pool party for the Newcomers on July 27 and then one for the neighbors on our street on August 10. You’re welcome any time at all.

Just until tomorrow. I will be relieved to arrive at my son's apartment. Its been nice chatting with my sister though. I walked to a neighbor I used to babysit for. I also walked thru my childhood home. The last was nice to let me do that, and I told stories about the house. She has remodeled it, and my Mom would've been to happy to see what she had done.💖

The exam wasn't too bad. We were allowed to take an A4 page of notes (both sides), so that helped in two ways ... preparing the notes was studying and then we had something to refer to in the exam.
One question threw me off in the way it was worded. I looked it up later and I think I answered it reasonably correctly but we didn't really talk about the subject in those words in class. I skipped another question because it was an area I wasn't very familiar with. If I had more time I would have attempted it. As it was, I did run out of time. I almost always do. I get right into answering the questions on these exams, and next thing I know the time is up!
In the exams here we have to stay in the room for the first 30 minutes and last 15 minutes. But you can finish your exam and leave between that time. The interesting thing is that hardly anyone does. There might be one or two out of a class of 400-ish who go, but that's about it.
Meanwhile, in the exams I took in Canada, it wasn't at all unusual for people to start leaving after about 30 minutes and by the time the exam time was up, there was usually just me and maybe one or two others in the room. I actually had examiners hassle me to see how soon I thought I'd be done because they wanted to leave early and I was using the whole exam time and holding them up.
Anyway, I expect I passed this exam but by how much I'm not sure.
I have about a month until I start my next class. Winter break. And I'm taking a long weekend this weekend. Because my exam was a late evening exam yesterday (Thursday), I decided to take today (Friday) off. I slept till nearly noon!!
But I've got a lot to catch up with at work and home. I need to make a list.
