So much to catch up on here. Reading everything everyone else has going on can tire me out!
Regarding autism, I have one great nephew who has it. While he may never live independently, he has shown much improvement over the years. My niece was very proactive in getting diagnosis and working with him. Thy live in Maryland, which evidently has some great programs for such children. Now in his mid teens, he is able to express emotions and some empathy. He is very bright, he just can't handle a lot of stimulation. His speech has also improved. Two other great nephew have auspergers-they also have learned coping strategies and and are aware of the difficulties they have. Both have graduation high school and work, but are not living on their own yet. There seems to be much more of this than when I was growing up. Makes one wonder.
Pip--so sorry to hear about dog-he is beautiful and I love seeing his pictures. We have had three dogs put down over the years, and I wept like a baby every time-but they each got to the point where quality of life was not there for them.
Made it through our Synod Assembly-interesting process seeing how the larger church works. Finished early today so went out and got a couple of pairs of capris (none of mine fit-too loose). While I was at store I picked up a pair of shorts to look at, and thought "those are way too big." When I looked at the size, I remembered when I was excited that I had gotten down to that. Those reminders of how far we have come are good have.
May not sound like much of a victory, but I actually bought a tank top for the summer. Very cute red, white and blue (set for the 4th of July in Phoenix). Wasn't going to buy it at first because I got super focused on my arms. All I could see at first was loose skin. Fetched myself up and told myself to stop being stupid. My arms are my arms, and they aren't bad for an old lady like me. Plus, I suffer from heat intolerance, so I need some cool clothes.
Hope everyone gets rest and the strength to deal with everything going on in their lives.

Ginny if them 20 yr olds can go swimming all sizes in string Y I mean string bikinis! Looks like buns floss . We can all wear what we want since we’re more conservative than them by far.

I go without a bra just a T-shirt at home too old too many hot flashes to care if a neighbor looks in our window or peers into the backyard that’s their fault if they go blind seeing me.2 -

He walked the hall and sat in a chair for two hours. He is able to tell us now what he wants and doesn't want. Tremendous progress. They will be moving him back to the psych ward. I did ask about genectic testing. Said not covered by insurance. If it will help I will pay for it. I will also come and stay in psch ward with him like I am here in intensive care during visiting hours. I think having me and husband present makes a big difference in the care he is getting. I know it will get him out of here sooner and his prognosis will be better too. Another voice to ask questions and make sure they are giving the best care is important. I also think the staff appreciates it too. Helping son eat makes me think of you Allie and how you help you DFIL.
Thanks again for all your support.
Yes ... I've been the voice in my husband's situation.

I’m not really sure how to determine calorie burn. I have an ebike, peddle assist. I do peddle relatively hard most of the time. I went 32 miles in 3 hours. So I calculated it at 2/3 the time for a leisurely bike ride. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Mary from Minnesota/ Arizona
I go with 100 calories for every 5 km. So you did about 50 km ... I'd go with 1000 calories. If you feel you used pedal assist for 1/3 of it, I might reduce it to 650 cal.
The 100 calories for every 5 km roughly matches Strava ... and also MFP when I choose a "light" option.

Margaret – so glad your fall wasn’t worse. Get better fast
Pip – really the only time I wear a HRM is when I do spinning. Usually I can tell when I’m out of my zone, but I find that it is so very easy for me to go out of my zone when spinning.

My son’s test was covered after a case was made by the doctor that we were getting nowhere with medication by trial and error and son was worsening at the time. It’s not a perfect test by any means, but it did identify some problematic meds and recommended which meds would work with his receptors.

Good for you!
I wear tank tops quite regularly now and have done for the past year or so. My hot flashes started that trend with me and now I find it quite comfortable to wear them as a base layer at least. It is winter now, so I might have a couple more tops over top, but when I warm up, I can peel off the layers.
And yes, arms are arms.
That said, I'm finding the rowing is helping mine develop some definition which is nice.

Checking in!
I had a good day! Drove out to Amity to the trade fair. Beautiful drive; it’s so green and all the wildflowers!
Magnolia trees someone was asking about them - they are messy. I’m blowing off the deck and raking quite a lot and the leaves are rubbery so they don’t break down as quick as others. They fall all the time. Mine just lost a bunch of leaves before it started to bloom. But they are evergreen so it’s nice to see something green in the winter.
Have a great Sunday!

Machka - I just love the story of Yorktown. My daughter that is getting married has travelled back and forth to Branson from here as that where her fiancé’s Mother is locates. She is a professor at the university there. It’s a terrible drive back and forth in Winter especially.
Allie - have you talked to Sarasota at all? Are they offering you a job? It sure sounds like you could use a change.
Karen in NY - I love your cake idea.
Julie - I about once a month quit logging when I’ve gone over, but the rest of the time I log it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. I find that it helps me realize how far over I can do and how easily.
We worked all day on removing the old 70’s trailer paneling on wall in the hallway outside of our bathroom so that we can hang the track style door we bought. Tomorrow I will paint the wall and trim and Monday we’ll hang the door. Just hubby and I here this weekend, we told the Grands they couldn’t come. I’m tired but feeling accomplished.

Karen in VA, that was an amazing swim meet video! She's as regular as a side-wheel paddle boat!
Oh dear, Machka! I laughed and laughed at that cartoon! It reminds me of the good old Far Side cartoons! Just that wry down-to-earth sensibility. Pulling no punches.
Pip, I'm sorry Winkle is having issues. You two have taken excellent care of those dogs, it's plain to see. I hope you get to enjoy his company for a long while yet.
I lost a larger post, but am tired after an evening swim with DD and DGS. I often forget to post casual exercise like that. Glad I remembered tonight.
Sleep well, everyone, and dream only good things.
