On baby duty today. The kids have friends up from California, so they went to a local mall. My DIL was feeling so guilty, I said just go have fun, I need to get as much Athena time as I can.👍

Kate - that photo of you and your husband is just adorable! Two cuties. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of you with such a big smile like that.
Pip - Wishing a Happy Anniversary to you and Kirby and many, many more. Learning about your strength and resilience with all you've been through in your life has been such an inspiration. Some guardian angel had been looking out for you and I think he materialized as Kirby, don't you think? You two remind me of newlyweds, lol. Maybe you two are the reason "get a room" was coined, lol.
Michele - here's the "Hamstring Rehabilitation" from that website. Some of these are what I'm using: https://www.thephysicaltherapyadvisor.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Hamstring-Rehabilitation-Exercises.pdf So nice to do squats again without getting a big old pain searing through my.... sit bones, lol. That piriformis stretch helps a lot... who would have thought? I need to put some air in my exercise ball and work it in as well.
You'll find these on the "Resource Guide" page about halfway down. They have some for Morton's neuroma too... I don't have that but the podiatrist said my foot is close to it, so why not try to head any more damage off at the pass?

Oh that’s sweet of you to say that thank you, that means a lot. This is true, after all that I’ve been through in my life KIRBY is truly an angel that came for me.4 -

Michele, contact your doctor and tell him/her what happened and ask for assistance getting a replacement pill to last until your prescription is renewed. It's an important medication and if it costs you money to replace the pill you lost, then spend the money. No matter what, you'll need your doctor's help.1

Update on Bullwinkle: she’s been having blood in her stool. Told her that and he said that’s probably a side effect of the Baroid pills. He gave me a prescription to help with that because it might be ulcers. I am still sleeping downstairs with her and her appetite is still good. We’ll see what shakes.8

Ended up not having Trentin today; his mom's work shift (client) cancelled. I will still get paid plus I got a day off. Woo hoo! I got my yogurt and food prep for the week going, then my DYS, Colin, asked me to help him get the hard top and doors off his jeep. (Yes, summer has finally come to Grand Haven) We got that done and he asked if I wanted to go for a ride with him! Yahoo! Off we went, took our road straight into town and did the beach circuit, then crossed over the highway and into the "old town" east end area. A new local ice cream place opened last week, so he pulled in and bought me an ice cream. Wonderful! But at the same time BIG MISTAKE! Their portions are HUMONGOUS!! I asked for a small and got about two cups of ice cream. I ate down to the cone (threw the cone and remaining ice cream away). I logged it all. We walked for about an hour down town so that will help with the calorie overload. We are having a vegetarian meal of stuffed mushrooms and stuffed peppers. I am only having the mushrooms, as the I can't have all of the rice that is in the peppers after all of that ice cream. Fair trade, I say. I got a full 1 1/2 with my son, and a windy ride in a jeep! I feel young!
Pip- Happy Anniversary! OF course I love all pics of you and Sir Kirby! But I love the pic of Bullwinkle and baby Floyd, as well!
Karen VA OMG! Lump in my throat!
Trentin tomorrow at 3pm, which means I will be doing some yard work before he gets here. Yard work = big calorie burn!

I think age is relative. As a rule, I don't feel old at all, quite the reverse. Like Heather I also had an assessment done and my metabolic age was 11 years less than my actual age of 73, so all the exercise and activity is doing its work.
I also do lots of activities to keep my mind active. Use it or lose it! Lol!
Since I joined MFP in Jan 2015, I have lost 72 lbs, had hip replacement surgery, then gradually regained 10 lbs. Since this Easter, I have been steadily trending down. I have a goal of reaching 155 this year, and then going on maintenance. 7 lbs to go!

Kim I don’t know if this is too late but I had a job paid by the month, but later the employer found out they were breaking state or federal law. Can’t remember which. So they changed me to hourly wages. But then they found out how much time I was working! So then they reduced my hours. Well I talked to them about it. They agreed to pay me a stipend for my insurance to make up for the difference. I had insurance thru my husband’s job.
Anyway, that’s an option?3 -
It was hot today!! 103f heat index. I stayed in and did nothing, just about nothing that is.
Did I mention I went down a whole size? I got out my old jeans and I can fit into them! Yeah. The other larger jeans were baggy and falling off without a belt! Yeah me!
Have a great Sunday!

Kelly I know, right? Sweetest Father's Day story.
Dana I second that "Yeah, you!" Way to go!2 -
Allie, you’ve got some great skills dealing with your SIL! I get the feeling that she’s a person who likes to stir the pot!
Lisa in AR, I’m pretty much with you on the label thing. I love the idea of becoming an elder, however, as opposed to the traditional idea of being “old”. The elders in my life performed vital missions as sage listeners and advisors and people who offered traditional comfort of hugs, kind words and levelheaded advice.
Karen in VA, that story is a real heartwarmer. The world is full of good, decent people of all nations, but we hear about the other ones, because that’s “news”.
Pip, [/b{Happy Anniversary to the two of you! Your pictorial posts of Winkle are darling. I loved the one of her several days ago with a pillow. The one where she’s sitting (in the kitchen, I think!) just looking up lovingly (or hungrily. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference, lol!) was especially endearing.
My whole inner left hand, wrist and forearm to the elbow hurts. Even with the brace on it’s constant low to mid-level pain. I’ll be glad to see the doctor on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, I DID go on the tricycle ride with my daughter. We had a blast! The trike is a two-seater side by side model. I was able to help pedal most of the hour, plus take a short spin afterward on a solo trike that I believe I’d do fine in. It was so exciting to be out of doors and exercising!

I'm struggling with sweets and carb cravings. Any ideas?2

JR – I just got Chilly Cow ice pops for 110 calories each. I know that WalMart carries Chilly Cow in cups, don’t remember the calorie count on them, as I recall it wasn’t real bad. I very seldom get food from Sams only because you have to get such a large quantity and I know that we’d never use it before it went bad. Plus, I don’t have anywhere to store that much. I don’t like keeping things in the freezer for months on end.
Katla – I did read in the paperwork that there is a once monthly version of aldronate available. Don’t know how effective that is. I think I’d go crazy with the once/day one. Once/week is a pain for me. I really wish insurance would pay for the Prolia again, that was so much more convenient. Once every 6 months, and you can just forget it until 6 months later. Only now they won’t cover it for me. I usually take the once/week one on Sundays and then exercise for an hour. I just do exercises where I’m only sitting or standing, like walking DVD’s or riding the recumbent bike.
Lanette – the only hamstring exercise I don’t do is the one on the foam roller. Wish I could think of a way to do it while I’m watching TV or doing some sort of other activity.
Rebecca – I was very surprised at how good the yogurt came out in the IP. To me, the only downside was that it took 8 hours to make. I just didn’t realize that it took that long. But once you know, you can allot for the time. Rice came out wonderful. The only thing was that I needed to make a decent size batch. But then again, I can always freeze it in individual servings, so that’s not going to be a problem
Barbie – that’s what I’m going to do at my annual visit. Until then, I’ll use the prescription that Aetna sends me. I can make do until I go to see him, but I’m planning to talk to him and see if he wouldn’t even make a prescription for 2 pills. We shall see. If it means I pay for 4, that’s only $10 so I don’t think we’ll die. Fortunately, this isn’t life threatening medication.
Sharon – (((HUGS))) How wonderful that you got that bike ride in!
Ask – when I got the sugar cravings a while ago, what I would do is take a sip of vinegar. That squelched them.
Went out by the pool and read. Been doing that a lot lately.
Dana – big congrats. Doesn’t a size smaller feel so so good?

Sharon Seattle- Don’t worry about the dark print we know your in a cast the button are hard enough for all of us without a brace on let alone with one immobiling your main typing ones. Just worry about healing up. Did they give an estimated healing time?
Askrukowski- I went through my pantry were slowly replacing our cravings with better versions of them y keeping more healthy options in the fridge too like corn on the cob to zucchini.
Michele NC- We use a certain Walmart we go out of our way to get there because less trashy people walking around to crime...problem is there bad at keeping the shelves stocked since their popular. We looked at all the ones they had in stock now wasn’t any 110 at the moment but they’ll have it in on one of our trips sooner or later we can grab a few boxes or more if it to hold us off.Hoping they get their popchips in been trying to get a bag to try for a few
months now.
Amber Tx1 -
You’d think if it’s a popular item they’d get their rear in gear order larger quantities!
They get me riled up. Sams Club hitting it hard Daughter coming home from the Navy she loves to snack.Plus family near by has up pick stuff up for them too especially my Mother-in-law so hubby can get large bags y take them to her to cook for the older grandkids.
Went way over my calories Hubby cane hone with McDonald’s for him y me after a rough time putting JR to sleep. I do not regret eating it either.Been good well sometimes you need a meal together as a couple full of junk food once a month.

Sunday again already! Up and busy, this morning. Physio done. Did 25 mins of TaiChi/Yoga, and Oh boy! am I rusty. Food logged for the day. All I have to do now is stick to the plan. 😂 😂 😂 (I had a bit of a splurge yesterday. Under goal, but poor choices.)
Waiting for DYD to bring her dog round. They are going to Germany for a week to visit DDiL's 95 year old grandma, who is very ill. (Stomach cancer). We are looking after their dog.
Off to visit DED and family after lunch.
Have a Blessed Sunday. 🕊 May your God go with you. 💖

I am up having my tea and have 2 loads of laundry in...get it done early.. then go feed my DFIL and clean out my car and probably go out with my dear friend Doris.. for lunch...3

Sunday -- First ride on a relatively flat southern route since April 2017. It was challenging because it is one of the longer rides we've done since my husband's accident and also one of the hillier ones ... despite the relative flatness of the route. However, it was a nice ride in some different scenery.
Chilly day with high of 10C and cooling down to 8C with a "Feels Like" temp of 6C the whole time. A bit overcast and light winds.

Lovely day ahead, the usual work week prep and time spent in the garden on another glorious day.
For me the best 2 strategies for avoiding trigger foods like sugar treats or salty crunch snacks that sabotage my plan:
1. Keep it out of the house
2. Stay well fed on filling, healthy foods, like fiber rich foods and proteins.
An occasional treat like a wonderful ice cream shared with someone you love is an occasional and well enjoyed experience, and it’s special cause it’s not every day.
Speaking of which DH and I stopped at a new Mediterranean restaurant very spontaneously after visiting with MIL. It had outdoor seating which led to lots of people watching. I ordered beet salad, which was just beets with herbs and lemon juice yummy, even DH ate it-woah!
NYKAREN7 -
Max coming over soon. DH has activities planned. He is intending to invent a new board game with him. I expect there will be something outdoors as well, but this morning the grandkids were running the Junior Parkrun, so he deserves a sit down!
I've put my face on for the first time in a few days. I always feel better with it on.
Kate UK - That's a lovely photo of you both. Love the hair colour.
DH ordered a fedora on the day he bought the pork pie and the panama. It has now come in, so he will pick it up next week. We are going to have to get some designated hat hooks for all these hats! I think Brighton has gone to his head, he would never have worn these in Hampshire!
I had to laugh yesterday. He ordered a new big umbrella from Amazon because the old one he had ( for free) was getting tatty and wasn't strong enough to resist the wind along the seafront. He ordered an extra strong one. I asked what colour it was. He said 'rainbow'. !!!!!!!!!!!!! I made a joke about having to watch who he got into conversation with as they might get the wrong idea. He obviously hadn't thought of that. ( Believe me I am far from homophobic, I just am very familiar with the gay pride symbol) Anyway it arrived today and it is beautiful rainbow colours. He really is entering into the Brighton spirit! The hat, the umbrella!
I've had emails from both my old friends from my old house. Both hope to visit in the summer. I miss them. Some of you may remember my very active friend who dropped the knife on her foot and severed a tendon. It was getting better, and she was walking normally, but has now developed an abscess. She is very worried as she has lots of trips abroad booked for the summer. Plus a cruise in November with her 92 year old father. Waiting to see an orthopaedic foot surgeon. A rare bird indeed.
My other friend may visit in her RV with her husband who is 81. They've been travelling all over the south.
My Portsmouth friend is coming over probably on the 1st. Looking forward to seeing her very much.
I'm missing having regular friends to visit. Nothing I like more than an intimate chat with a BFF.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
morning again ladies~
Heather sounds like you guys will have a fun afternoon, and its so wonderful to hear your DH is getting into all the festivities that a shore town has to offer..
I plan on going up to the cottage on July 3rd ,but if my SIL is there I don;t want to have to deal with her bombastic remarks so we shall see..
my friend Jay well thats another story.. heard from my dear friend(his wife)that they took the tube out and breathing on his own , he awake but still very confused from all the meds, which is expected..his heart is better ,but they found spots on his spleen and they dont know what they are and he is still in renal failure .. so we shall see what happens..it's not a good situation either way as he has multiple myeloma.. 42 yrs old with 2 boys 17 and 15.. please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers
I was supposed to go out with my friend Doris today but found out that DFIL family coming to see him so , sorta have to be there.. so I will call and we will go out weds afternoon..5 -
Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Allie, thinking about you and your friends. I'm sorry the news is not good so far.
Thank you all for your comments on getting old, or not, as the case may be. Proved a point I've tried to make to others on other subjects before. Perception IS reality, in the personal sense of the word. Also proves out the old maxim, "You're only as old as you feel."
Rain has stopped, but will start again about 10 a.m. and keep raining until tomorrow. Which is unfortunate, as we didn't get the lawn mowed yesterday. We ended up going into town to have Corey's birthday brunch and, in the end, didn't get to eat until nearly 3 p.m... we went to a car dealership and traded in my 2013 SUV for a 2014 VW Passat with a turbo diesel and two years' warranty. The SUV was starting to have mechanical issues. No matter what your perception is, vehicles have their own aging issues, I'm afraid.
I'd told Corey the brakes were soft, particularly at stop lights, and he said it was just normal aging for a vehicle. So I had him drive it into town, and once he did, he said he was pretty sure the brake booster would need to be replaced. Even when you're married to the mechanic, they always assume you don't know what you're talking about! That said, I wouldn't know a brake booster from my left elbow, but it pushed him over the line to "let's look at trading it in." Looked it up this morning, and it would have been about $1,000 to fix, which explained his reaction. And, in the end, we (OK, I) talked them into upping the trade-in value to cover the tax/title fees. Corey doesn't ever negotiate... I always figure it's worth asking. Now we've got two vehicles without any worries mechanically for a few years.
And his work gave him a Visa gift card for his birthday, which completely paid for our very late brunch, including the tip, so there's that.
I've got a painting going, finally got the background blocked in this week, and need to start the next layer of paint. Can't get outside, might as well do something creative!
Love y 'all!

Was pleased and surprised Dr. could see Joe at 1pm Friday. At first the Dr. seemed puzzled about the pneumonia diagnosis, no fever, no chills, no coughing, until he listened to Joe's chest and asked him to breathe deeply. That's when a few coughs struggled past Joe's iron firm control. This worries me as it will be hard for the mucus to break up if Joe won't take enough fluids or cough it up. Dr. prescribed two antibiotics, but could only pick one up, the other won't be in until late Monday afternoon. If he's not better when the antibiotics are done, Dr. will order a second CT chest scan.
Okie, Margaret, Rori and all thanks for your concern.
NYKaren DH and food choices, when Dr. was commending Joe for weight loss (and associated BP and A1c reduction) he looked at me and said "Good Work!" "Nope! He does his own cooking, has switched to rice and veggies for breakfast and has quit buying chocolate donuts. He's done this himself." Both Joe and Dr. positively beamed with pride.
Lanette your DH and mine could be brothers from another mother. So when Joe woke me at midnight asking to go to hospital I knew it was serious. "virtual frying pan" Heck I've got a real cast iron skillet you could brandish to get your DH moving toward care.
beadowl agree with the final part of your "rant", except that I somehow doubt the company would even try to back track from an offer made to a guy... just sayin' . :brokenheart: for the theft of your pom, can only hope s/he made a delightful Christmas present for some poor child.
Tracey con VERY gratulations on the swimming accomplishments AND Hooray for the new position within walking distance and flexible about time off needed for the wedding. What will you be doing for them?
KJ Hooray for YS's full time forklift driving job! Benefits? Union? The as for looking old, I was carded at 30 for buying beer, until the cashier looked up and said "Never mind my dear, I didn't see your face."
Machka that purring kitten vid/sound is soooo soothing. Thank you!
Lisa and Carol count me in on the throw up my hands when I fail at one of the too many, do better with fewer, and would like to be 40 pounds lighter." Exactly.
Michele, Colby is right there are not many good job opportunities in Idaho, depending on his skill set. There are some tech jobs, but for regular folks it's pretty grim. Many young people work two or three part time jobs each just to pay for rent (high in the Boise area) and food. Right to work state, few full time jobs with benefits, low minimum wage, it's tough especially on young families. Your Gardening Faith made me snort my water!
allie ((hugs))
Amber thanks for the video. Wish we had a similar vegetarian, Indian, volunteer-run, pay what you can restaurant here. I'd volunteer AND eat there for sure!
Julie in France What a great week. So glad so many helpful thesis directors have appeared to help. Brava for all the other progress you made.
Lisa "speaking longingly of assisted living... in is 40's" not a good fit indeed! "Labels are for pickle jars, not people" True that!
Machka stunning pics of the boats in the water. What a lovely ride that must have been. At 69 I am old enough to be retired, on medicare and social security, but honestly do not "feel old" for the most part. OK yes, my knees sometimes say otherwise, but that was true in my 40s as well By your standards I have 11 years of youth to enjoy. Thanks!
Janet ((hugs)) and prayers for your sister, your friend and for you. Safe travels home before the tornado storms.
Katla offered Joe tea, (including several herbal varieties) reminding him the nurse said "plenty of fluids." Rejected with a resounding "don't want to pee all night." :} "I link 'old' with infirmity, inactivity & lethargy. All of those things are at least partially under our own control. Making healthy choices is important in my opinion, and can lead to being heathier, feeling better and happier. I will turn 70 on my next birthday. I don’t feel old at all" Ditto what you said. Bingo.
Heather two pounds? Brava! Would you share your tandoori chicken kebabs recipe? Pork and cider stew sounds yummy too, but alas no IP here... yet... "When I was 62 I felt 85. Fat. Unfit. Now I am 69 I feel 45. True." Inspiring!
pip Happy 17 years! HOTCHA!
Sharon Thursday he refused offers of tea, broth, soup, anything. Friday he made himself a pot of tea. Yesterday he wolfed down a bowl of raw veggies and dip, then later polished off a bowl of strawberries. That trike ride sounds like fun
Karen in VA, The Father's Day video you shared, made my heart happy.
Kate love your happy smiles, know it's not just 'cuz of the beer.
SueBDew golf ON!
Rebecca Puppy/Baby pic almost as cute as Grandma holding sleeping baby pics.
Terri 11 years younger in body than calendar? Brava!
Dana hooray for baggy jeans falling off!
Belated Welcome @bootcampgirl54 (ORJulie) and @nbbaby (Sharon in MB), @bowmanias (Susan in CO) and @PJFinSJ (Patti in CA). Just jump right in, don't wait til July, NOW is the time
Welcome @askrukowski. I've been eating raw almonds to curb the sweet cravings. 1/2 oz, one at a time
Joe's pain gets a little less as his voice gets a little stronger each day. V. hopeful and grateful to you all.
Lighter, lovelies!
