Good morning! Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. I am enjoying reading about everyone. Happy Friday! Down 3.8 pounds this week. I understand that it won't always be that way, but it was a great incentive to keep going when I saw that this morning. I'm going to be spending the weekend deciding how I'm going to incorporate exercise into my daily activity. Probably will start out with walking and go from there. I love walking outdoors, but am new to my neighborhood, so this weekend I'll do a little exploring. :)

Have a wonderful day & weekend everyone!

Oh, @KJLaMore: Hello fellow Michigander. I'm in the metro Detroit area.

I'm down with DFIL waiting for them to bring him to dining room.im on 2nd day of antidepressants. Still feeling off. And not at all looking forward to work.. I pray my way through everyday.

I’ve been on them for over 39 years. Took various types and strengths until docs found the right type and strength. Takes up to a month for full effect of one type to affect me. Same as what others here have said. If I miss a dose or try to wean off of them, I get panic attacks and ended up in the ER the last time. The anxiety/depression runs in my family. Mom is on them, so is my youngest sister and one of my brothers.

Takes time to adjust but well worth it. My diagnosis is GAD (generalized anxiety and depression).

I will be careful working in the heat today. Water, Powerade Zero, cooling towel, and I can always stand in the water! No air conditioning but fan.

Still here just spring cleaning 🧹 🧽 while tripping over 2yr old JR. Trying to keep his schedule perfect y fit exercise in daily. Melted my 1 yr old curtain set in the washer (JR changed water temp sigh* )so new set had to be bought so shuffling curtains around to get the right sizes for each y darkness levels. JR turned dryer off so playing laundry catch up.Hubby took him to the park to help but only so long an older person can run after a 2yr old who feels no pain! Brambles thorns out of his knickers y socks grass burrs too. He’s Forrest Gump when he runs lol . Hubby felt uncomfortable trying to hide JRs view of over 50+ women there screaming top of their lungs doing some sort of karate type excersises workshop in skimpy clothes stuff spilling out (modesty was out the window) . A lot of flashing going on guess they were a Flash Mob lol 😆. He brought home a McDonald’s breakfast for brunch went to enter the calories minus what JR ate off mine oh my Lord! That tiny pancake meal is a 1000calories before JR grabbed pancakes off of it! Still I ate 700-800 calories in one meal only a little tiny bit of it left for dinner Going to have to eat a lot of squash for dinner with the left over bits! This is going to be a lot Of finagling to make sure I stay on track calories wise. If I do it right I’ll have something left for my after dinner snack/small meal .

It takes a good week, or more likely two weeks, before antidepressants take effect. And in fact, you may feel worse before you feel better. But even if you have some really low days, stick with them, and one day a week or two from now, you'll feel better. :)

for me when i was on them, i took a month.. if i didn't feel a change, they would try another pill, so another month. until i got the right one that worked for you. it's hard, but let it do it's work. if you don't feel any improvement, talk to your doc about trying another one.

Yes, I've read it can take up to a month.

They put me on one and I went from depressed and struggling with my husband's injury into a really, really dark and horrible place for a couple weeks, and then I came out the other end and felt all right. Two weeks later my gynaecologic-oncologist decided to change what I was on so that it would help reduce my hot flashes better. So I had to go off the original ones for 2 weeks, then onto the new ones and go through those 2 weeks of dark and horrible before I finally settled on these. I'm still not positive they're 100% right, but better than nothing ... and my hot flashes have eased a lot.

Machka - I’m seriously thinking about talking to my doctor about Effexor. I can’t do hormone replacement therapy because my mom had breast cancer 41 years ago and we don’t know the hormone status. Heaven knows I could use some mental assistance because I don’t want to get where I was last fall (a bag of Halloween candy every day is NOT a good thing), and I know Effexor has been used for hot flashes.

Does it help any at all??

Connie has n KY - I had bad hot flashes so bad my eyebrows y front hair fell out my 1st time in Peri (post menopause baby so restart button for me) I used Black Cohosh for the hot flashes it helped me y a customer who was having them bad (she also had to cut out caffeine y beers ...I can have caffeine I’m allergic to beer/wines so who knows) . Regrew the hair back with rosemary oil diluted in water few drops per small tiny spray bottle then apply on sites needing hair also helps with itchy scalp along with iron pill for the itch. Hot flash - Drink Water immediately also helps sometimes I can skip other treatments if it’s my 1st thing I do.

Just experiment 🧪 if one of these doesn’t work but another does add the good one try something else in combination with it.

Katla, awe, how wonderful that your auntie cleaned herself up, and turned back into the woman you knew and loved. ( Not that you didn't ever not love her, but it was just easier sober). That is My hope for my sister.

Heather--So sorry to hear about the stolen items. I pray the items can be found. Lost trust is hard to rebuild. I would check with the cleaning company and see if they are bonded.

Rita--Sounds like they are keeping you busy, do be careful of the heat.

    Allie--Sending prayers and hugs!!

On the subject of antidepression meds. My doctor put me on some when my mom passed. He also did a blood test that tells them what meds will work and ones that won't. Insurance ended up not paying and it was $1800. But at least I know I am on what is best for me and for the most part it works.
Today when I get off work I am on vacaton until Monday June 24th. I am excited to get out and relax and put work out of my mind and worry about me. Not sure how much I will be able to connect.

Connie KY - I don’t have anyone who took Effexor Xr we go natural remedies only let the body adjust itself. Plus we see it as a Godsend I was a very timid easy to push around person. Now I’ll tell you like it is or sit quietly with eyes that tell you lol. I feel freed to be able to say what I think! Plus a purse theif at the HEB learned my new self confidence I’ve never had before is not his cup of tea lol. I got my purse back plus an older lady near me! He walked away backwards hands up apologized a lot. I was bending over to pick up a morning star black bean burger patties plus some vegan bean burritos 🌯 the dumbest criminal ever thought he grabbed another city girls purse. I slammed the freezer door gave a look to kill said I’m gonna %}#+€ you! Grabbed a jug of juice to hit up aside his head. Then said you chose a country gal! He pushed a cart in between us as we marched him backwards me steps away . He abandoned both stolen purses hands up then ran away scurrying into things. I was gonna hit him up aside the head too ! Told him as he was putting the purse 👛 down ...When you leave your able bodied you will be getting a job! Yes Mam’! You will not steal cause I’ll know find ya’! No Mam’ never again man!
Sometimes the Peri anger works in miraculous ways. Also found the courage to tell a boss off change jobs while going through it.Became unable to speak up again but not as bad as before now 2nd time through Peri I’m back baby!
    Amber Tx
The black Cohosh helps my hot flashes not anger lol. I’m liking the power of not being too scared to say hey 👋 yeah no that’s not happening put my life down I’m in charge!
I also use Bigger pads nighttime size 5 + on heavy days y midol the equate off brand it works better than the original.
Tylenol only for body aches .
