Kim - Well done! I hope you get at least some of what you want, but you should be proud of yourself. :flowerforyou:
Tracey - CONGRATULATIONS,! :drinker: You must be so relieved!
My news is that I HAVE LOST 2 lbs !!!!! In one week! !!
I know a pound of it is water, but I am still delighted. My middle is definitely feeling a bit less pudgy. Now to get off the other 2 lbs. I'm aiming at a pound a week.
Going to make tandoori chicken for dinner. Not too fattening.
Hope to run after lunch, but the sun has come out at last and the forecast is for it to heat up this weekend. I'm not good in the heat, but a sea breeze should help. Plus plenty of suncream.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -
7 years ago my husband and I started an 8 month Round the World trip in Hong Kong. I'm so glad we did this!!

Congratulations, Tracey! I know it's been a long and exhausting search.
Congratulations, Kim! Best wishes that it works out as you were hoping. The best part is, you went in composed, ready to advocate for yourself, and ready with a solution, and I know that was much more satisfying than losing your cool. For me, 24 hours can make a huge difference in my reactions to those perceived injustices that trigger my anger/tears combo... my husband's one of the few who can talk me out of that loop. Glad we were able to assist. Proud of you!
Rori, Machka - I hope you can both feel the support that's extended from this group to you and everyone who's caretaking someone they love. You are such strong women, and so glad you're here!
Barbara AHMOD - Still thinking about you and your Joe. Hope it's simple and easily fixed.
ORJulie, Readlaugheatpie, and everyone who's new, welcome. We're glad you're here!
Walked my mile yesterday morning for the first time in five days, and slept for more than five hours last night for the first time in... five days. Basic equation. Need to stop letting life get in the way.
House Internet is down, working off my phone as a wifi hotspot. My husband, who's on his way to work, just called from about five miles down the road and said the cable/internet provider is working on a pole there... which tells me something's busted, because it's not even 5:30 a.m. Thank goodness Verizon wireless had the unlimited data plan for 55 and over - I moved to it quite some time ago, and it was actually cheaper than the limited data plan I had before. It's slow... but at least it works, and I won't get extra charges leveled for using it as a hotspot.
Love y'all,

Tracey ~ Congrats on getting the job! I know you will be an asset to them.
Rebecca ~ So glad you are enjoying Grandma time!
Kim ~ Fingers crossed that your boss is able to accommodate you.

Good morning all! Happy Friday!
Tracey- Eeeeeek! I am so happy and excited for you! It is great that they are willing to work with your wedding schedule for a couple of weeks! lol crazy time for you...wedding and a new job...but how exciting!
BArbara- Sorry to hear about Joe! Sending hugs, strength and peace for you both!
New girls- Don't despair of knowing/not knowing everyone on here. Most of us know each other only through our posts and like others have said, lives and circumstances change. Some of us have been able to meet up IRL! That makes a stronger connection and is always fun. As far as keeping up with the posts; most of us do a fair amount of skimming. Some of us take notes. At 52, I try to rely on my memory (and am finding my memory fails me quite often). lol But please, hang out. Comment where you feel moved to do so. Commenting and posting is not even a requirement to be a part of the group. Just read, soak in info, use it to help you...(((hugs)))
Kim- Well, I think that meeting with your bosses boss went really well! I hope that they can come back with the $1/hour more!
Rebecca - keep those Athena pics coming!
Pip- I love the picture a day of Bullwinkle! Such a sweet face!
Oh! I forgot to tell you ladies, my youngest son is, once again, gainfully employed! Yea! He got a job at a company here in Grand Haven. He is making $1/hour more than he was at his last job. He will be driving fork lifts and other heavy machinery. Full time. *sigh of relief*
I have been eating a bit better this week and getting some "intentional" exercising in and this morning I finally feel like I woke up less stiff. I will do a weigh and measure on Monday to see where I am sitting. Kids arriving. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

I float between maintenance and weightloss. But then IMO, that's what maintenance is ... gain a little bit of weight. Oops! Lose a little bit of weight. Good. Gain a little bit of weight. Oh dear! Lose a little bit of weight.
Right now I'm gradually going down again.

The first page is Hong Kong.
Pages 2 and half of 3 is Taiwan.
The rest is Japan.
We were in Hong Kong about 3 days, Taiwan about 6 days, and Japan about 10 days.
And then it was off to the UK.
But I'd love to go back to Taiwan and Japan especially.

Renée in the Netherlands - We've got at least a few people all along the scale of weight loss to maintenance. And the weight loss effort varies from around a hundred pounds to two pounds, so there's that, too. At the moment, I'm just trying to leave out wheat because I feel better when I do, and get back to exercising at least five times a week. Do I want/need to lose weight? Yep, but right now, I'm just trying to get one good habit going at a time. When I try to do everything, I end up throwing up my hands when I fail at one. When I'm only trying to succeed at one or two things, I do better. I'm basically staying steady, weight-wise, but would like to be 30 to 40 pounds lighter.
And, for everyone who's new, to back up what Kelly said - I tried to answer everyone in the beginning, and couldn't make it work. Some of us have a wider range of who we respond to... but not one single person here responds to everyone on here. Drop into conversations where you're comfortable, and don't where you're not comfortable. Pretty much a judgment-free zone. Ask for advice, though, and you'll get lots. We're good at that. Glad you're here!
Made it to 1.1 miles this morning. Baby steps.

Good morning. Had a BAD day yesterday. Best friend/neighbor was diagnosed with a malignant tumor on her brain and my 74 year old sister who has been in rehab since breaking her ankle badly has pneumonia, blood clots in both legs and yesterday went into septic shock and put in ICU. I cried a lot, prayed a lot but stayed on track and will continue to take care of myself
Love you my friends,

Going to go to the gym and try to do the elliptical for a few minutes. I have tried twice now and could only do it for a minute before my heart rate got up to 130. Can't understand what I am doing wrong. Have been able to walk on the treadmill and use the stationary bike for 10 minutes each.

Are you medically restricted to stay under 130?

Thank you my friends.
Carol, I don't do the elliptical at all, since having both knees replaced in 2015 it just hurts too badly. I do the treadmill and exercise bike, for 40 minutes no problem. Don't think you have to do a certain machine, as long as you are moving and getting in cardio you're doing great!!!

been on maintenance for years now2 -
Carol - I haven’t been able to do the elliptical due to arms injuries as a child (got beat up for not being fully white - Dad switched schools after I was injured 🤕 multiple times leading to arm slings/casts a lot told my grandpa why Dad said nope 👎 goodbye all white school districts forever ).
I find anything that works my arms hurts so I stick to walking, treadmill,y excersise bikes.
If I do elliptical I don’t do it more than 2minites then I’m out of commission. Walking 1hour in circles in the house at the moment. Even a minute on a machine more than most are doing anymore. Folks even ride in cars to get the mail even tho their 20! It’s Not just the elderly older man down the road anymore.

Janetr - Such a stressful time for you. (((HUGS)))

JanetR - thinking of you, your friends and family. I'm sorry it was a bad news day... proud of you for continuing to take care of you.
Carol - Your hand/arm movements are what drive your heart rate up on the elliptical. If they're like most of these machines, they will also have a stability bar you can hold near the readout so that you can avoid using your hands on the moving bars, and still keep your balance. I love ellipticals, but often have to stop using my hands to keep my heart rate from shooting up above 200. You still can get a great workout, and then just use your hands on the moving bars 10 or 20 seconds out of each minute to keep your heart rate closer to your target heart rate.

do you use a heart rate monitor? if you had one, you would want to find out what your resting heart rate is, then from there you could figure out what your max heart rate is and what your target heart rate is. it's a calculation that is also figuring in your age, unless your doc is telling you that you don't want to go over 130bpm you should do what your doc says.
