Happy Saturday! The toilet woke me up this morning! lol Some one had used it and the water was still running. (not sure how long it had been running) So I got up and took the tank lid off and jiggled the chain that had gotten caught under the drain cap. 5:00am. I had my alarms set for 6:30 (FINALLY, I get to sleep in!) Not going to be able to get to sleep now. But it is okay. I opened the windows in the kitchen as I made my coffee and could hear the birds beginning to sing. Still dark, but just a hint of light peeking in the east. I took my coffee out and sat on the bumper of our car, in the dark and just listened to the wild and nonstop conversation of birds. Bliss. Now, an hour later, the sun is up, the birds have quieted to few chitters and chatters here and there, and I have moved back into the kitchen for cup number 2 and to chat with you lovely ladies!
Machka, Connie, Allie, Rori and all the other caregivers- My hat is off to you women! Full time caregiving is so hard! The stress, frustration, isolation, etc that goes with it (on both the patient and the caregiver's part). It was hard watching my MIL decline. For me, as a part time caregiver to my MIL, it felt a bit more like "it's the least I can do" because I couldn't be there every day, and I couldn't (didn't) do it for my own parents. SEnding big hugs to all of you ((( )))
Pip Bullwinkle mothering Yogi! She was like the "mama" for young Floyd and Yogi and I love the pics of her doing her duty for them.
Allie- I missed something. What might you be getting written up for? Feeding the birds?
Heather- LOL I am like you with sporting events. Colin and Tim both watch and follow a few different sports/teams. I used to follow Notre Dame University sports, but after one game where I found myself shrieking at the tv and (within the course of two minutes) went from jumping up and down to lying in a heap on the floor with tears running down my face. I decided I would never get that involved again. lol Like you, though, I do love to watch athlete's bodies and hear their stories. Especially the runners. I absolutely love to watch marathons (especially ultramarathons). AND for me the most inspiring stories are the women who are out there. It is usually the women who have found the time to do this endurance running even though they work, have kids, usually are overcoming some sort of stressful situation like injury, caregiving, loss, etc. It is just phenomenal to see and hear about that kind of drive and effort. So inspirational. And their bodies are like machines. Amazing.
Debbie- Sorry to hear about Radar! Hope he is on the mend. What kind of dog is he?
Terri- That is a lovely piece of artwork! At first I thought I was looking at flowers painted into her hair, but they are bodies! I wonder what the artist was feeling when he/she painted that? Overwhelmed? Stressed? or nurturing? hmmm...
To all:- I was going through one of my daughter's tubs of things she might want to take back to Texas with her; and I found a calendar that I made for her for the year that she spent studying in France. Each day had a quote on it or inspirational words from me or other loved ones. One of the first ones for September (She was there Sept-May 2009) was this: "Staying positive does not mean that things will turn out okay. Rather it is knowing that you will be okay no matter how things turn out." - Unknown author
Well, I have Trentin for just three hours this morning then the day is mine. Time for me to get my exercises in, as I chose to hang out with the birds first thing this morning! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)8 -

I used to be a 'cup half full' person, always happy and laughing, especially as a child, but "life" happened and knocked me back a bit. I sometimes see flashes of the person I used to be, and would like her back! I tell myself that there are people out there worse off than me, (I'm a work in progress )

KJ and everyone-Radar is a sweet beagle.I was up with him for the night and he Seems to have calmed a bit ,but I know he’s not out of the woods yet.Hubby is upset/angry because we don’t have the money to take him to the vet.Hopefully since he (hubby)has off today,he can keep up with keeping Radar cooled down as the temperature is going to be in the upper 90s heat index over 💯.Hes in the house,so ...I hate not being home with him 😔5

This weekend so far ...
-- Hair cut and dyed. It's up to waist-length now and I just freshened up a similar dye technique I did last time.
Not the greatest shot of me, scrunching my face up into the sun ... but you can see what I did to my hair just before Christmas. That's pretty much what I've done to my hair now, although the lighter colour on top might be somewhat more copper now.
-- Cleaned and organised my night table. That might not seem like much but my night table ends up being the "junk drawer" of the back of the house. I needed to organise it so I had a place for all my eye masks, ear covers and ear plugs ... the elements that make up my night time cocoon of silence!
-- Shopping with my husband to get several things for my husband and me. For our fitness setup and for his projects.
-- Laundry!

1. going to beach tomorrow1 -
it's 97 today to complete a week-long heat-wave.
I'm not doing much today.
tomorrow I booked a train ticket to the seaside (2h15 min)
and a car-share to come back (about 2h30 min)
both ways are about 3h door to beach.
crazy.it's very last minute. I checked for a hotel to spend 1 night and 2 days, but they are a bit pricey last minute a heat-wave weekend in summer. spending only a whole day is ok. the down side is having to think about how to care for stuff when I am in the sea, swimming.there must be some water tight bags for such an occasion.
I am feeling lazy

I was just reading an article entitled, "Former LinkedIn HR boss shares her job application secrets".
https://www.news.com.au/finance/work/careers/former-linkedin-hr-boss-shares-her-job-application-secrets/news-story/0b55ff340a459da7ef0d5616d5655c98
In the article, she says,
"“Women tend to apply for roles they are 110 per cent ready and qualified for — we make sure all our ducks are lined up and we have the right skills. But men raise their hands and apply for jobs they are 70 per cent skilled for, thinking they’ll learn on the job,” she said.
“Women tend to use ‘we’ and ‘us’ [in their CVs] while men use ‘I’ — and recruiters are interested in what you did — they want to hear ‘I led’, ‘I created’ , ‘I was creative in this way’."
When I was applying for the job I have now, at first, I did apply for things I knew I was qualified for ... but it didn't take long for me to start applying for everything I even remotely qualified for!!
Funnily enough (referring to what we were talking about a few pages back) the article also says,
"Ms Wadors, who is visiting Australia from the US, said another common mistake was not letting your passion and personality shine through"

So my SIL texts me at 5:30 this morning telling me she cant find her glasses. She is basically blind without them so ,I get up and dressed to go look .. she literally cant see anything so we were tearing the bedroom apart..
She did tell me.she threw some of her garbage in the kitchen garbage. So I was garbage picking at 6:30 this morning ..guess who found her glasses..she was thrilled.

Pip: Winkle is so sweet. Old dogs are an absolute treasure.
Debby VA: I hope your dog is okay. Our fur babies are important parts of our lives. :flowerforyou:
Sue: I’m so happy to see you posting. YAY!!!
Allie: Tortilla chips=corn flower, seasonings, fat and salt in a deep fat fryer. Wash it out with water and forgive yourself. Nobody is perfect. :noway: Have a Happy Birthday.
Machka: You look great!
The RV is parked in our parking lot and we will start to load it up today. We need to put on water, food, and our personal stuff. We’ll stop for gas on our way to the park. The next town over has the best gas prices near us and it is on the way. I think we’ll actually go to the park day after tomorrow. I’ll have poor internet service there so I’ll post when I can while we're away. I will log every bite and swallow now and during our trip.

Morning! Happy saturday hot and humid here, my bff begged off an early walk cause her hips are aching from a long drive. Ah well, I did my roots, swept up the sunroom and cleaned out the vacuum. Will garden and mow a hit and then get to the gym. DH and I are thinking about some home projects but need our wonderful handyman to be available—he’s often too busy to help us anymore
One good thing about the humidity, my appetite is lower, just too uncomfortable to eat!

Machka: Your hair looks so lustrous and thick. And the colour suits you so well.
Katla NWO: Hooray! Hope it all goes well for you.
Our spell of fine weather has broken. This morning it’s very humid, and we had heavy showers and a few rumbles of thunder. This afternoon I we are dodging showers to do a little gardening.

Thank you! My mother passed on the hair gene. Hers is curlier and darker than mine, but thick and just a little bit coarse.
In humid weather, mine curls and fluffs up so I go around looking a bit like I've got a lion's mane!

Very hot here - 90° plus. It's due to cool off a bit tomorrow. I hope so because we are set to go dancing under the i360 on the seafront.
I did my morning and afternoon exercise with the fan blowing. Couldn't have managed it otherwise. I'm like the poor beagle, I get easily overheated! DH went out for a walk. He is a lizard, but even he said it was hot, with the beaches chocka block. I stayed indoors. I'm lying on the bed at the moment, the blind down and the fan going.
I managed to total up 1,000 exercise calories today though. My weigh in this morning didn't show any loss, but I know I had a lot of sodium yesterday. I will redouble my efforts.
DH 's fedora arrived today. Looks great. He will send the shop a thank you email and I hope he will write a review. There aren't many hat shops left in the UK.
I'm not looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Wimbledon dominates the tv schedules. Grrrrrrrrrr! Summer is never good for tv anyway.
Salmon tonight with asparagus.
Today in The Guardian (Saturday ) there was an article in the magazine section about Svalbard where Penny, one of our old members, lives for much of the year. She hasn't posted for a while. I went to see her and her husband when I was visiting there on a cruise. It was an article about how it is the place on this earth that is warming the fastest, Her husband was featured with a photo. It mentioned some places we had visited with them and the big avalanche that killed some friends of theirs.
KJ - Endurance athletes - don't you just love them! The number of books I have read about running must now number in the high twenties! But there the battle is with themselves, their bodies, but mainly their minds. I also love dancers. What I don't like is all the competitive supporter ballyhoo, from people who never get off the couch themselves. Don’t understand team rivalry.
Oh well, time for my pm aperitif.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
