Cheri and others who might know. I have an old quilt that needs some repair. We want to give the quilt to Lilliana when she is a little older. There is no local group or business that we know of that does that sort of thing. Any advice?

Beyond April: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
Amber: You can eat healthy food you enjoy and exercise. It doesn’t need to be one or the other. The trick is staying in control of your portions. Good luck to you.
(((Lisa))) You are one of the smartest women I’ve encountered. You have a bit of juggling to do with meds, food and exercise. You’ll figure things out so that things stay in the balance you need to be healthy.
Barbie: I love the quotation from Mikhail Baryshnikov. I’m glad you shared it.
Allie: :flowerforyou:
Evelyn Vancouver ISL: DH is having health issues that make travel stressful. He’s going into the hospital for testing this afternoon and we hope we get some answers that will help him do more things and have more fun.
I’m no where near the end of posts, but I’ve run out of time. We’re getting ready to go into town.

Connie--Sending hugs and prayers. Never ready to lose our mom.
Karen--Yes there was a big storm and lots of trees and power lines down. I made it to work and we have been busy. They lost power at the hospital during the night and went on genertor power. Which messed up the computer and printers.Took acouple hours to get everything up and running. Water leaks all over big time.
I had an appointment with the partner of my chirocpractor this morning. Mine was hurt in an ATV accident acouple months ago so is off until sometime in Sept. Anyway I called this morning to make sure they were open and running on time, since I have to leave work. They said they were. Get there and 45 mintues later he is still not ready for me, so I told them I have to leave and let them know I was pissed. So just before I get back to work they call me and say how sorry they are and that the person a head of me took so much longer then they expected. So we rescheduled for next Wednesday morning. I just hope it works better. I usually go once a month and my back does well. I haven't gone since my doctor was hurt so going on 3 months and can tell. I was not happy.
Karen--I have a quilt my grandma made me over 50 years ago and she would always say I want you to use these not put in a box to rot. So I use it and it was getting really worn around the edges. I took it to our local senior center and some ladies there put new border around it and it's in use again. So maybe there is a senior center close to you that would have someone that could help you.
Katla--I hope the tests today help you and DH find the answers you need and you can plan that long awaited trip.
Well ladies out of news.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE4 -
Vicki GI Glad you checked in! Thanks for the idea about the senior center, that may be a good resource for quilters.

Katla - what a lovely compliment, thank you. Hope you and your DH find the answers you're seeking, and they are all positive ones.
Karen - The quilt on our bed is badly in need of repair (I didn't make it, it was bought when we first got married). I keep promising my husband I will fix it, but never do. Maybe I'll tackle it this winter, when a quilt on my lap for hours while I do some hand-stitching actually sounds like a good idea! All that said, I think Vicki's suggestion was a good one. There may also be an area quilting club; there are a lot of them out there. There's even one in this little town of just over a thousand people where I live now. While they might not want to deal with the repair as a group, one of their number may be willing to do repairs, or know someone who does. They're often advertised in the local paper's community calendar.
One of my coworkers is coming over this afternoon to drop off stuff to me, as I volunteered to man a recruiting booth at a school open house tomorrow. Made me realize how little we actually have people over. We haven't gotten to know anyone here at all yet. We kind of like it like that, as we love quiet evenings together. Soooo... probably not going to happen that often.
Made me get the house all nicely picked up, though.
Love y'all,

Happy National Sea Serpent Day!
"Sea serpents, also often known as sea dragons, were common in ancient mythologies and are celebrated on Sea Serpent Day. They may have been partially inspired by the giant oarfish, which can grow up to fifty feet in length, and is rarely sighted because it lives thousands of feet below the ocean's surface. ... [T]wo of the most legendary sea serpent sightings took place in the month of August - Daedalus on August 6, and Gloucester later in the month. Daedalus was spotted in 1848, while Gloucester was spotted in 1817."
Machka - Despite being experts on our own bodies, we women really have to fight to get medical professionals to hear us. It's infuriating!
Connie - You and your mom are in your thoughts. As they say, this aging thing isn't for sissies.
Debby - I have a Maine Coon and he's an amazing boy. He's nineteen years old now but still going strong (knock on wood!). It never gets any easier to lose them, does it?
Karen - You might see if any local senior center has a quilting group. When I inherited a quilt top pieced by my great-grandmother, the ladies at the senior center added a backing and quilted it for me.
In honor of Sea Serpent Day, I'm singing the theme song from a silly old cartoon, "Cecil the Seasick Serpent." (A BOB CLAM-PETT CAR-TOOOOOOON.)
Now back to work...

Dinner went well. It was more work than I anticipated, but I think it was enjoyed by all. My son said it was great because it was things he doesn't cook at home. DH even tried a tiny bit of the very runny Camembert and said it was OK. That is a landmark victory! I gave the left over cheese to my son as I can't trust myself with it.
Of course far too much garlic butter from the snails and ciabatta to mop it up was eaten, but it was nice to produce a real dinner, no holds barred. I do enjoy it. Also nice not to be drinking. We had AF rosé and kombucha.
Weather going to get windy and rainy soon. Friday does not look good.
Now to look forward to the grandchildren coming for a sleepover on Saturday. I've got Swedish meatballs for them.

Yvonne- my boy loved the whole family, but was a mamas boy to his last breath (he died in my lap).I was blessed to be with him from birth til death and every wonderful day between. I had sinus surgery years ago,was out of it for a couple days.I vaguely remember waking for seconds to see him watching me as he was perched on my chest.I was told he never left me.

My goals for August are:
1. To log my food
2. Exercise 3 times a week
3. Meditate everyday for 10 minutes
So glad to find this group. I am 54 years old. Talking Bio-identical hormones. Very hard to lose weight.
My fiance is very supportive, and I am very grateful for him. Changing my thoughts to positive has helped me very much and writing a gratitude list. Big stuff coming up for me. Foot surgery (Bunions) and my fiance's contract is up at his job. So most likely in October, we will be both unemployed. We have money saved, but at our ages we are a little stressed at finding a new job. I am not even worried about the pain with the surgery. Security is so much more important to me.
