Went to the water class today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Nina Lessig DVD.

Thank you, everyone for your liking the turtle. I guess I just like things with more color. I do hope he likes it.

Barbie – I would love to see a pic of the dwarfs and Snow White. Working on sleepy right now. Started Bashful tonight

RJ – that bread that’s sugar free – does it have artificial sweetener in it. What is the sweetener?

Karen – our local Y has a quilting group. Senior citizens might very well be able to help you, even if it’s just to point you in the right direction.

Lately I’ve gotten into reading. I got so absorbed last night that I almost didn’t realize the time since I had to take a shower

Allie – I’m crying for your boss. Maybe he shouldn’t have paid that contractor so much..ya think?

    Welcome everyone new

It's been a very hot and humid day. Our hottest day so far this year. It's 9:00 PM here and its still 90 degrees outside. Ugh.

Cheri and others who might know. I have an old quilt that needs some repair. We want to give the quilt to Lilliana when she is a little older. There is no local group or business that we know of that does that sort of thing. Any advice?

    Karen in Virginia

A local sewing store or quilting guild may provide some answers. Good luck! Love the idea!!

A senior center or possibly a hospital volunteer group. One of the hospitals here makes keepsake quilts for their hospice patients. If there is a sewing or craft store in your neighborhood, they may be able to help. When I lived in Ohio I took some things that were beyond my capabilities to a lady in one of the Amish communities.

Machka - we have a flu outbreak at my work and we had a meeting yesterday discussing it. It’s early for the flu season to hit here as you well know. During the meeting the Administrator was telling us it looks like it’s going to be a bad year based on Australia. I hope you feel better soon.

Tired tonight so I’m heading to bed now.
    Tracey In Edmonton

It hit Australia early too. I was holding out till mid-May for my flu shot, which is reasonable ... a lot of the flu shots weren't available till the beginning of May anyway. And then I got the flu at Easter ... last week of April ... during our last little holiday as we travelled around northern Tasmania. All our plans went out the window and I ended up sleeping whenever I could actually breathe. The rest of the time I was just trying to sit up (dizzy) and breathe.

I did get the flu shot mid-May, but they say it wears off after about 3 months and the flu is still going here. So I do wonder if I'm fighting it.

    18. pay 1 bill per week

remaining from may see dentist 2

    Grateful:
    weather is nice
reasonable gym walking distance open at 7
    nice people at café

Challenges: weight, low carbs, calories, work, decision-making, socialising, filing, taxes, paperwork

Accomplishments or successes: at least minimal exercise, possible renegotiating loan (1% interest rate here)

Feeling: slightly up feeling in morning after 10 min round trip walk to gym, 15 min at elliptical and espresso standing at bar at café.

I have no classes nor meetings in August. I'm lazing a lot. On one hand I feel like I push myself a lot during year and deserve rest. On the other hand lazing about and surfing online or Netflix throughout vacation is not uplifting. I'm okay for a bit (why not, and there's some good stuff culturally and in terms of information). I have some appointment and so on, but I laze a lot. It's an effort to even clean the house. I have not done paperwork (filing, taxes) well at all. Or maybe I have too much of it. I did spend an hour on sending info to 2 -3 banks to renegotiate or repurchase my loan. At one bank I have 3.88 interest on 2013 which was already high then. The manager refuses to make an offer of renegotiating. So I have to go to another bank. This particular bank is not French origin (nor American) but a big bank from another European country. most of the clients are from that country (I know because they are always speaking that language when I go there). And they definitely seem to favour people from that country (at least they are more friendly and take more time with them). I don't know if I've ever seen another client in there who was not from that country. I did choose to get my loan from them, so it's my own choice, but it makes me mad.

I read that many banks refuse to renegotiate unless one has a rather high salary.

My salary has been very modest these past years and for most of my life, but due partly to union type negotiations and partly to taking on a couple more classes next fall, I'll have an increase in salary, making my salary more average for my field, age, etc.

I have an appointment w work doctor this morning due to issues at work. it's kind of a protective thing. I had one 10 days ago and it was useful. The doctor said he was going to speak to the school about making our contracts more legal. (strangely, despite the fact that they are a public higher ed school they have many many illegal contracts.)

    Tension, and- feeling overwhelmed.

Doing minimal housework is already a major effort which I succeed more or less at.

I eat reasonably healthily, not cooking, but eating organic veggies and fruits and soy stuff and hummus and beans, etc.

Too many calories still. I've the upper limit of ok BMI for about 2 years. Before that I was middle or low healthy BMI for decades.

I have a hard time giving regular attention to limiting food intake.

Doing ok getting minimal exercise at least almost every day. That helps moral for a few hours after.

    Winge Winge.

would you say this thread is click-y ?

Given that this thread has been going on for a decade, there are a number of ladies here who know each other quite well and have even met in person.

    Is that what you mean?

Or are you referring to clicking the spoilers to find out the rest of the story? :)

Tracy in Cali - Welcome! We've had more than one person dealing with searching for gainful employment, best of luck to you and to your fiance... and much luck, as well, on the bunion surgery. I'm with you on security being top of the list. It matters at any age, but at our age, even more so.

Tracey in Edmonton - Computers are definitely high on my list of "mixed blessings."

Sue in WA - Well done you for the two-pound loss just by not eating between meals! Sounds like a nice visit with your sons.

Vicki in NE - Glad you were safe from the storms, but it sure doesn't sound like the aftermath has been much fun.

Meg in Omaha - Traveling grace, dear heart.

Happy Thursday to all, hugs to those that need them.

    Love,
    Lisa in AR
