Sherry ~ So good to hear from you. The afghans are lovely. Happy to hear that your daughter secured what sounds like an excellent job and wishing her luck on finding living accommodations.
Ginny ~ Your children’s community service day sounds like you all did an excellent job. I know in Atlanta they have a stuff the bus event every year when school starts to furnish school supplies to needy children. I remember when I took my granddaughter to meet her teacher in 2nd grade there was a huge amount of supplies each child was expected to bring.
Pat ~ Great that your sis was able to fix your hair. I seem to stick to the bob and not try new things.
Michele ~ I’m sorry that your neighbors did not show up for your party but glad that y’all still had a good time. What will you do with all the leftover food? My DnL’s brother is the executive chef at a country club and ordered 2000 turkeys his first Thanksgiving there. Very few came for the celebration and I guess he had to send some back.
Heather ~ So glad you and your hubby are having such much fun with the grands. Our 9 yr old grandson spent the night with us last night (first time in years) and we enjoyed visiting with him (he’s very talkative). He spent a lot of his time on his tablet and on my computer playing games and talking to his friend. I know he spends too much time on his electronics, but, mom keeps him in sports every season of the year so I hope it will all even out.
Allie ~ So glad you have had a wonderful weekend away!
Kate ~ Thanks for sharing your photos. Such lovely scenery and the last photo of you was a great one.
Sitting: A saying I well remember from my teaching days is, “A teacher on her feet if worth two in a seat.”
Brother in Law is not doing well after his heart bypass. They had to restrain him because he was trying to pull all the IV’s and breathing tube out. They are sedating him today to keep him still.
The other brother in law who I talked about being so ill in March and April is doing a lot better since he has been in the memory care facility. I think this is due to him getting fed regularly and getting the meds he needs. When he went into the hospital, there was no food in the house and we figured out that he had not been taking his medication. Now, he is back to using his computer and trying to get his 2018 taxes figured out. We are hoping to get him moved out of memory care to another part of the facility where he will have more freedom.
Wishing a great day to everyone and prayers for those who need them.

Woof I'm home but it was a very tiring ride .. of I left a little after 9:30 ..but got homenaboit 20 min ago.. had to stop Alfie pukes in the car next time no breakfast for him... and silly me it's a little cooler up there so I had a heavy sweatshirt on which made me sleepy. So took a 10 min rest at a rest area and got home..
It was just what I needed and will download the pictures this afternoon..4 -
Barbara: Thanks for your kind words. Monday we’ll be in touch with our primary doctor and see what comes next for DH.
Pip: We’ve often said that we would like to be up there and cheer on you and everyone else who rides for the MS ride, but DH simply hasn’t been feeling good enough for us to follow through. I have hopes that this planned surgery actually resolves his backpain issues. The backpain is not caused by MS. It is caused by arthritis, which is also an autoimmune disease. His MS is under excellent control thanks to a great doctor and good medicine. You and others who ride have helped bring MS into the spotlight and support development of good medicines that help sufferers feel better. THANK YOU!!!!!

Youth group swim party was a success!! The kids had a blast, and our host/hostess had a great time with the kids-all 6th through 11th graders this school year. This evening will be dinner, games for the kids and planning meeting for the parents.
Let the new school year craziness begin!!! Now, can I avoid stress eating remains to be seen!

Carol - Max is an electronics geek too, but his mum rations him really closely. Here we try to focus on interaction, but we did watch some kids programmes on Utube. He 'helped' me with Duolingo Spanish this morning. (He was excellent as you would expect as he goes to a bilingual school) His computer time is the first thing to be confiscated if he is naughty. I'm sure he will end up doing something in that area as a job. He goes to coding classes on Saturdays.
His favourite thing with DH is inventing board games. Today they made one called 'The Not Happy Holiday'. It had forfeits like, delayed flight, getting your wallet stolen, losing the keys to your villa.
I did manage to do 400 calories of exercise this pm. Rowing and biking. Phew! Luckily I enjoyed the streamed tv programme I watched, so the time passed easily.
The dinner I cooked tonight was gorgeous. A zucchini and tomato mix with a garlic prawn topping. I will do that again. Very garlicky and a bit of fresh chilli.
Just squeaked under calories today.

Cooling down from the yardwork. Went to the gym and did 33 minutes on the elliptical, 2 miles. Came home and mowed half the yard while Corey trimmed the edges, then he mowed the other half (it's about 2 acres right around the house) while I pruned more of the trees, to get them up high enough to mow under. Turns out if you trim all the lower branches high enough so I don't bump my head them when I walk, then you can run the riding mower right up to the tree trunks.
So far, we've identified lots of crape myrtles, wild plums, maples, some of which are silver maples, lots of boxwood, mimosa, catalpa trees, persimmons, sycamore, loblolly and short leaf pine, and that's just the ones we've identified. We've got honeysuckle growing wild, blackberries, which we're trying to get tamed back into a limited space, and resurrection lilies by the wellhouse.
Love this place. We did the right thing, moving here. Time to shower.
Thinking of you all,

This.......my exact feeling & DH loves home made bread! He’s one of those long tall guys who never gains weight.I am sooo jealous!
“Barbie I am so with you about bread, eating the whole thing with butter, it surely is one of my triggers. Also understand about not wanting to sour the joy your DH gets from his new hobby. Is there a nearby soup kitchen that would welcome his output? Is there room in their (or your) freezer to accumulate loaves 'til there are enough to share?”Barbara in Oregon

Hubs grilled again for lunch today! I'm falling into a rut of having charcoaled tuna, broccolini and zucchini on Sundays. It's a good rut, so I'm OK with it. I have 1/2 left for dinner this evening. Yum!

Okie - Your bbq tuna lunch sounds fantastic! I love fresh tuna and I love anything charcoal grilled.

Missed my calories by 28. I need a category for almost! I can't really complain because my scale knows the difference between almost vs blowout.
I went to a music festival yesterday. Heard excellent tribute bands play Steely Dan and southern rock. Some very impressive guitar work.5 -

Hello! When I read your post I had to add, "we are all success stories even before we lose the weight". Its giving yourself permission to put yourself first.💖👍4 -
Michele, the coconut milk is to add creaminess. The original recipe said you could leave it out. I’m sur a little almond milk would also be ok. I used food grade peppermint essential oil, but I would use mint extract if I didn’t have that. I rarely have the leaves. The recipe also said you could add a little vodka to keep it from icing up in the freezer. I only make enough for the one serving and eat it immediately, so I see no need for vodka. Barbara, I pour the leftover coconut milk in a mason jar with a lid and store it in the fridge. I use mine in other things like smoothies and more ice cream. It keeps for a while. I’m not sure how long. I use mine up pretty quick. For some reason, I think the canned coconut milk is creamier than the carton. Cacao nibs are 45 calories per tablespoon.
You can also experiment with other flavors. I just think it has to have the frozen banana for a base. I’ve done a frozen banana, 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries and a little coconut milk, too. It is extremely yummy.3 -
