i actually have two that i run, on my stats you'll see the apple watch, that's on my wrist. I have a chest strap that is a wahoo fitness tracker. if one fails, i go by the other one.

I also have two different wahoo fitness tracker HRMs one is a plain one and the other is has some extra connectivity that tracks me on the treadmill.
Plus my treadmill came with an HRM if I want to use it.
Plus I have a Polar one which I used on the bicycle outside. I'm not sure if I'll continue using that one outside or if I'll go with one of the wahoo's.
We just end up collecting these things!

i've worn out polar watches a few times. the treadmill hrm you have to hold on to, so i don't use them.
My treadmill came with a chest strap too. But it doesn't count cadence or connect to Strava so I've only tried it once.

Today is Video Games Day!
"Scientists in the 1950s and '60s experimented with the creation of games that were the forerunners of video games. The first commercial arcade game, Computer Space, was released in 1971 by Nutting Associates. Its two creators, Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, went on to create Atari. They released the arcade game Pong in 1972. Also in 1972, Magnavox released the first video game system for home use. Designed in 1967 by Ralph Baer, who became known as 'the father of home video games,' the multiplayer and multi-program prototype console was known as the Brown Box. It became known as the Odyssey after Baer licensed it to Magnavox. It was priced at $100, and after the first year, 100,000 units had been sold."
Michele - The only IP cookbook I have is the one that came with the pot, but a lot of the recipes I've found online have nutritional info.
Sharon - Oooh, that shrimp cocktail looks amazing! I've taken several trips to Mexico and always ate whatever I wanted. Only got sick once, and I was sick enough I didn't want to do it again but all in all it worked out OK.
Machka - Yay, RUOK! I almost made that today's commemoration, but yesterday I promised silly. Although given the size of the video gaming industry and the number of people who depend on it for their livelihood I don't guess video games really count as "silly."
Rebecca - Thank you for the tip about the loaf pans!
Allie - I sympathize. My newest bra is a 38I and there is no getting that anywhere but a specialty store. However, once I had a brand and size I liked from the lovely bra store, I discovered that I could order the same brand and size online and save myself a trip to Austin every time I need a new bra. Any time I want to try something different I have to go in for a fitting, though. I do not feel that freakishly large, but I wouldn't mind having a little less boobage. The girls are heavy and require some serious engineering to keep things in place.
Beth - Maybe when things at the job get really bad, your husband could take a 30-second mental break to mentally list things he'd like to do once he retires!
Lanette - Glad you enjoy the special days!
dandl1986 - Welcome to Onederland! You're right, it is a huge milestone.
I am not a video gamer but I am married to one. Most of my forays these days are limited to match-three games on the phone while I'm waiting in line somewhere, but as a college student I did spend many pleasant hours in the computer lab at Wharton County Junior College playing the text-only game "Adventure."
I've been so pleased to see my cats enjoying their new catio! I guess the lure of the outdoors over-rides the feline need for studious indifference to anything their person goes to a lot of trouble to do for them. At any rate, I've seen both boys going out of their own accord to take the air. Expect there'll be a lot more of that once the temperatures get more moderate. Luna is still not sure they should be going out there, though.
OK, I was procrastinating on the Nordic Track because I realized I needed to eat something first but I've finished my smoothie now. Time to go skiing!

Barbie: I got the two-shot shingles vaccinations a year or so ago. The shots weren’t comfortable, but they weren’t awful, either. Now DH’s MS doctor wants him to get them and DH is dragging his feet. I think DH is very foolish. I know a couple of people who’ve had shingles and it is horrible. My elderly auntie was miserable until she finally died. A sailing acquaintance eventually recovered but was sick for a long time. Shingles is not fun at all and very painful from what I’ve heard. The pain of a shot is short and its benefits can be huge.
Rebecca: I love your humorous posts. Keep ‘em coming! I also like the baby Athena photos.
I had meetings yesterday evening and the evening before & I am still exhausted. I’m ready for rest!!

If he is out for the count I have no access to his money for specialised care etc. He has a lot of savings accounts and is quite private about them. We do have a list with the wills, but need to update them.
Now I have my new laptop I will print out all the info and forms and hope he agrees. I would ask his younger daughter to be the other signatory. Of course, I will reciprocate. My near miss with the road accident last winter concentrated my mind. I could have ended up in a vegetative state. Ugh.
Aka Machka's husband, you never know when the axe might fall.

It’s very important to have those things in order. I am learning so much about how abusive families can be to their elders, so giving lots of thought to who you trust is very important. I found out a couple of weeks ago that my Aunt who married her second husband in 1995 was the sole beneficiary of everything for him. He fell and became paralyzed and had to go into a nursing home. When she was starting to show sign of Alzheimer’s his daughter offered to take her out for errands. It was found out only after he passed that she had taken my Aunt to sign everything over to the daughter. My Aunt ended up being destitute. It’s sad how greed plays into things.

As most of you know, my husband had a workplace accident in March 2018 and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury ... he has made a 'remarkable' recovery given the severity of the injury, but of course there are lots of ongoing issues.
So I read a lot about brain injury.
This article came up in my newsfeed and I thought it was quite good. The compensatory strategies can be used by all of us as we get older and experience moments of "brain fog", but may also be useful as we deal with partners or parents with stages of age-related memory loss.
https://msktc.org/tbi/factsheets/Memory-And-Traumatic-Brain-Injury
Some people think that these methods weaken memories. But that’s not true. When you write down information or enter it into a phone or computer, you may actually strengthen the memory trace in your brain, and the information will always be available for you if you need it.
Here are some compensatory strategies to help work around memory difficulties:
- Get rid of distractions before starting on something that you want to remember.
- Ask people to talk slower or repeat what they said to make sure you understand it.
- Give yourself extra time to practice, repeat, or rehearse information you need to remember.
- Use organizers, notebooks, or a cell phone calendar or “apps” to keep track of important information, such as appointments, to-do lists, and telephone numbers.
- Keep all items that you need to take with you (e.g., wallet, keys, and phone) in a “memory station” at home—like a table by the door or a special section of the counter.
- Use a pill box to keep track of and take your medicines accurately.
- Use checklists to keep track of what you’ve done or different steps in an activity. For example, make a checklist of bills that you need to pay each month and the dates on which they are due.

I like video games but not until I was in my 30’s.Had an Atari once y old Nintendo y gameboys but barely played. Now I log in everyday to silly games whether it be a card game (solitaire) to The Trail Game (like being on the Oregon Trail. Lol 😂 guess might as well going to have to be techish savy for parenting in JRs generation.

On the topic of bras, if they made training bras big enough to go around me, I'd be just fine.

Have finally used up the last of the produce my farmer friend gave me last Friday. Made Cabbage Roll Soup, Simple Cabbage Soup and Tomato Soup with Fresh Tomatoes. I made enough zucchini bread to choke a horse. Froze all the Swiss chard for use in frittatas later. Saved some of the soup for lunches this week, but froze most. Will be visiting my parents next weekend and like to take a cooler full of things they can use as they will.
NYKaren ... that is not a nice adventure at all! Glad you didn't seriously hurt yourself.

Allie My apologies for the fopaux.
NYKaren Thank goodness you're okay!
dandi1986 Congrats on dropping below 200! Yea!
Barbara Sadly, the nearest animal shelter is an hour's drive one-way
M in Oz Good article on TBI that you posted. I already use some of those compensatory strategies, lol! Have to lest I may have a "senior moment".
I'm familiar with severe TBI due to my mother (auto accident age 38) and #2 son (bicycle accident a few days before turning18). My son also suffered paralysis nipple down. He pretty much had to learn everything all over again. Mom was never the same.
I'm not in the medical profession, but differ about the author's claim, “brain training programs and memory drills don’t really help". I think it's possible that they can, and that recovery has a lot to do one's age, one's will, and the support the suffer receives. Bike riding was one of the things the rehab docs pushed my son to do because it helps neurons connect :-) Brain training was also on the agenda, but not via computer. Only paper and pencil and verbal repetition were used. He'll be 45 next month, very athletic (though sometimes in pain) and the smartest and most successful of my sons. He speaks four languages, but can't write or spell worth sh#t! Some things he chose not to re-learn. He figured learning how to talk to many different people would serve him better than learning how to write well in English or spell. Here's a link you might find interesting: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5415868/ Lots and lots of patience, m'dear
Reinventing Rhonda - Day 12
Got two walks in today and now I'm sore.
Under limits for total calories but over on carbs, sugar and fat. Ugh!
Can't eat an apple, a banana and an orange on the same day and not go over my sugar limit.
Sheesh! Eating to stay under all limits is harder than I thought it would be.

@JRsLateInLifeMom that's horrible about what you had to go through in terms of racism.did the woman with mixed ethnicity grandchild soften up or stop being racist. those bras look good.
@cityjaneLondon I also often wear knit camisole bras a bit like the 2d one amber listed. I agree we have nipples.
@auntiebk I don't know if microfibre is as breathable as cotton. it's supposed to be. I prefer cotton too. the sizes are oddly S M L XL.

Just had trouble logging into mfp from my laptop with Firefox. Kicked me out every time I clicked on Food. Finally it said “page not found” so I logged food from phone. Seems ok now.
Karen in VA, ditto Kim about your twin towers in the sunset pic. and everyone's prayers for ballerina Josephine and her mom.
Lisa so glad you got to exercise your “just say thank you” muscle at that lunch.
Rebecca “KETO not Cheeto” got me choking on my yoghurt.
Dandi con VERY gratulations on arriving in ONEderland
Bras part two, have very narrow shoulders so looking for a soft, wireless racerback bra, supportive of a 38D or DD, any faves?
Morning mist and damp didn't dry off deck til 11. Painted the handrails, gave the uprights and deck a light second coat. Painting the underside of the handrails got me closer to the paint than I'd been before and it made me sick, head swimming, nauseated, funny taste in the back of the throat, yuck. Soldiered on but took frequent breaks. Finally accepted Joe's offer to finish the outside of the handrails and uprights. We are both agreed that we loathe painting. A dime sized pieced of paint peeled off this morning before second coat got on. So disappointed and frustrated. Gonna have to start buying lottery tickets, only way we'll be able to afford new, maintenance-free composite decks. The upside to this entire experience was the cooperation and working-together-ness with Joe. A first, but not last, for us. Now Joe wants to paint the trim. Hope he'll allow me to mask it first
Time for some ginger, an aspirin and bed.

hi I wrote a long detailed post w several personals on various subjects yesterday! but all seems to be not there.
did I not push send? or did the network go down when I did and I didn't check?
sorry !
I did read many posts and all personals and answer but it's too hard in working days to go back again (2 days = about 10 pages!)
onward!2 -
I haven't been tracking and have slipped into more more starches. not big binging, but more whole grain good bread, and so on. sneaks in. weight is slightly up as of this morning. disappointed but not surprised especially w difficulty walking. I didn't do much sport but potter considerably at time and always walked about 30 min at least per day on walk, errands outside. now it's been minimal minimal for past month due to knee.
it has an effect on my mood. I managed to feel great at the beginning of the week but was cranky yesterday and today.
I had to deal w dishonest hr guy at one school. I forgot that if I take one on one appointments he will smile and say yes yes and then do the exact opposite and probably use the time to get info that he can use as he wants. I'm very active in a sort of union like way and they do not like that. HR person is like assistant to director on that level. not there for the employees but for the directors.some union guy said it used to be the opposite somewhat at least.hr was supposed to be there to watch over decent conditions. I don't see that much at all where I am. lots of illegal contracts at this school and they pretend to be in favour of improving that but it's 100% BS.
the hr guy is very young, soft-spoken and friendly but a slippery person and, after a summer of dealing with more straightforward people I hadn't forgotten the trickiness of this type of person.
I feel in a bad mood due to this.
high amount of work at present and over next month and it's super stressing me out.
