@Machka9 that's great to know about eucalyptus. that is not known in France. I went to an allergy doctor maybe 10 years ago or soand she said my dustmite allergy was very strong, (she tested me 2 days in a row for allergens and the bumps for dust mites were still there the next day when she tested for other stuff. she said that was not common) but didn't recommend eucalyptus and it wasn't on the flyers she gave me. (which included info on bedding, etc.) What is a physio? Physiotherapist? There is a clinic that's top on knees so I'm gonna see what I can find. I don't know that there are physiotherapists specialised in knees here. Maybe. I can ask the clinic w good knee work about it. I will surely never run again. it's often ill-advised for older women fragile bones and risk of osteoporosis-cause breaks.and even for others. I enjoyed it, but I had problems w my right foot last year (maybe Morton's syndrome) and the x ray person said that it was apparent that I used my feet a lot. I believe seeing that in an x-ray for a 55 year old is not necessarily a great thing. Great about your progress on your hip and food progress, though. I ran when I was 16-20 and started having knee or back pain and noticed most runners had some kind of related pain, so stopped till in my late 40s when I was seeing a running guy and finally got into running towards the end of our relationship and kept it up for a few years afterwards, till I had the foot thing last year. it's so easy, quick, economical, great for endorphins, and getting some light and air, but hey, there must be other ways to get all that stuff.

@exermom it used to always take me back to where I last posted but now it always takes me to page one. if I miss a day, I am unable to read all the posts for sure. I definitely get scratchy throat or cough from gluten-stuff and sometimes even non-gluten grains, but that is variable. is it dryer in NC? I found in really northern climates (upstate ny and in England) I get much worse allergies at times, and the antihistamines are just a drop in the bucket. I hypothesised that the growing season is so short that the plants must be more active, but I really don't know. Also those places are not dry at all. I'm pretty ok in Colorado which is relatively dry.

@AZTeri2016 I'm sorry about your very bad year. Congratulations on losing the 18 pounds!

@TerriRichardson112 awesome about all the writing

    @Anniesquats100 congratulations on the SV!

@momhiebert Welcome! you'll find lots of tips here.

@auntiebk I haven't seen a pt yet. I only got the prescription to see one on Thursday. things are slow here in august (need time to get an MRI and go back to doctor) and the two local drs didn't believe I had a meniscus tear until after the MRI. (thank goodness for the dr in the village on vacation who made the right diagnosis which made me insist to the local drs for follow up). my landlady is a dr too and she said I should see a rheumatologist 1st and then go to PT after according to what the rheumatologist says.

@cityjaneLondon enjoy the babysitting tomorrow! I'm pretty sure you can at least copy and paste from memo pad to word even if you can't transfer all files.

@LyndaBSS ha ha ! glutton-free diet sounds good!

@cmsavells good that it's just a migraine. that must be annoying to have spent 7h in ER for that. so sorry about allergy situation. do you take antihistamines or anything? I have allergy more in the spring and avoid dairy and cut back on grains and so-so food (sugar, alcohol, much starches) when I see allergy symptoms and it seems to help. Also eating watery food seems to help : brothy soups, cukes, zucchini, watermelon (in late spring here). Have you tried to see if what you eat or drink has any play on the allergies?

@ginnytez sorry your knee is still bothering you. I feel like I need to not touch it so much at present. yeah curtains can be mid-range color and cut out all seeing in or out I think. I have turquoise curtains in the bedroom and they cut the light out very well. even w not cats I don't get expensive curtains. I find they get worn out after a few short years.

Karen Va ~ Thanks! I had never heard of belly bands and I will investigate. I have used 2 & 3 pads at one time and even tried putting cans around the edge but he still misses.

Julie ~ When that happens to me I found out I needed to sign out and then sign in again. That always happens on my tablet.

I feel sooo tired. I guess it's maybe coming home at 1-ish and having had 2 glasses of wine. Life is late here, so coming home at 1ish here might be like coming home at 11 in Boston. If you go to an evening party and leave at midnight here, you're considered to be leaving on the early side. Sun rises and sets later here though so that is part of it. Sun rising at 7:20 now and setting at 8:20 pm. it's a full hour earlier in Boston for similar length day. (we also have daylight's savings).

I was planing on doing stuff today but feel like crashing.
I only went to café and was planing some stuff and skimmed the paper and sketched very briefly, got some groceries and heated up a frozen dish on double boiler.

Was to meet a friend-classmate at 4 but fortunately got to postpone till 5:30.

The frozen dish I had was bibimbap. I had never heard of that and now I seem to see it relatively often. it's a bit heavy on the rice but not bad. the instructions given only said how to reheat w microwave. am I the only one on earth w out a microwave? I double boiled and that worked fine.

    MFP computer issue
I also have issue with caps coming on suddenly when in MFP.i'm not sure if I have it happen other times.then I have to put the caps on for it to be non-caps and then it goes away. does anyone else have that issue? weird.

I am so lacking exercise this week with my unhappy knee. last week I went to the gym 2x to work shoulders and abs and then I had (and still have a bit) shoulder issues.

we went to this loud jazz concert last night in a small place. I wasn't sure but I thought possibly the vibrations from the music weren't bad for the knee.

I found this :"(...)researchers found that wounds exposed to vibration five times a week for 30 minutes healed more quickly than wounds in mice of a control group." for what it's worth. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/03/140331153647.htm "This technique is already in clinical trials to see if vibration can improve bone health and prevent osteoporosis," Koh said.

they are talking about vibration and not just music.

    I just read that the maximum decibels for 15 minutes is 102 in France and there was a machine listing the decibels and It was around 109. not easy to control with horns (sax and trumpet) and drums in a small space I guess;
I had a musician friend who used to bring earplugs out with him for such occasions.

    gosh, so tired.

Did an hour of balance games on the Wii. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of 10MS Butt Lift DVD then take the extremepump class.

Terri – when our lawn mower finally died, Vince asked me which type I wanted. I told him “I don’t care about the brand, but it MUST have an electric start. If it doesn’t, don’t even bother showing it to me.” Good for you purging your summer clothes before putting them away. You’ll have more room. Congrats on the weight loss and physio. I like hearing about successes…all kinds

Workout – if I worked at a farmers market, the biggest problem I would have is that I’d eat all the profits! Do you sell golden beets? How about purple potatoes? Burpee Hybrid cantaloupes (after having one, I will never go back to an Athena again)? Red okra (haven’t had any this year, couldn’t find it)

Bananas – it definitely is not as humid in our part of NC as when we lived in PA. One day while we were putting things into storage right before we moved it was 102. I thought for sure we were going to die. No problem getting things into storage. That’s because we didn’t have the humidity.

Found yesterday that during the day it’s hot and sunny so I can go in the pool. But later like after dinner the part of the deck where I usually string the popcorn is in the shade so I was working on that yesterday. Didn’t get a whole lot done before it got dark, but something is better than nothing

Do you know that the cut I got from the weedwacker is still occasionally bleeding? That’s not like me at all. I usually have a really good clotting factor. When I went to the dermatologist, he put a band aid on it and that stretchy, stick-to-itself stuff around it so the bandage stays tight. I’m keeping the sticky stuff but I need to change the band aid after I go in the pool

@exermom that's my experience w humidity. in Colorado if it's 90 in the shade with a light breeze, no big deal, and cool nights. in NYC 90s tends to come muggy and last all night.

It's quite possible that the allergy specialists in France wouldn't suggest eucalyptus ... it probably isn't as prevalent there. Over here in Australia, it's all eucalyptus and tea tree.

Yes, a physio is a physiotherapist. There are physiotherapists who specialise in all sorts of different areas.

Here, a GP will send you to a specialist doctor for something (like a sports doctor for knees, hips, etc., or a gynaecological oncologist for cancer of women's areas, etc.), then if possible, between the GP and the specialist, you'll be sent to a physiotherapist.

    I'm seeing three different physiotherapists.
One may also be a podiatrist ... I'm a little bit unclear if she's a podiatrist, a physio or somehow both. She's treating my feet.
One specialises in gynaecological things. After two surgeries for my pre-cancer in my women's areas, things aren't working really well down there anymore. The gynaecological physio is helping me improve matters as much as possible.
And the final one is working with me in pilates classes designed to improve my hip situation. At some point, I really should move over to another one in that office who specialises a bit more in leg things, running and other sports. However, I'm with the current one because she's working with my husband ... so we're both going to the same pilates class and seeing the same physio. She specialises in vestibular disorder and she focuses on balance exercises and similar with my husband. She is getting advice from the leg/running/sport one for me.

The plus side is that you get people who specialise ... the downside is that you can end up going to a lot of appointments.

View from where we were staying this weekend ... like I say, all eucalyptus!! :)

KJ - almost all of my ceramics go outside around out pool. I will eventually have all 7 dwarfs and Snow White. We have all rocks around the pool and I just wanted something with color since the rocks are all brown. So enter ceramics. I do find that doing ceramics is so very relaxing.

M - you look so great with a kitty (hint, hint)

Pip & Kirby: WTG!!! Thank you both for “Livin the Dream” and helping the fight against MS!

Rebecca: The mean neighbor moved away a couple of years ago. YAY!!! The people who live there now are delightful.

Heather: DS and DDIL are looking great in the bike gear. :star:

Carol: I would consider a trip to the vet for a check-up if this is new behavior for your dog. Could he be having eye trouble? Our dog seems to be developing cataracts. His pupils are a bit cloudy but he seems to see well enough so far. :flowerforyou:

Barbie: Our deciduous trees are still green, but this morning we’re having weather that feels a bit like fall is coming in the near future. :star:

Today it feels like the seasons are beginning to change, and this morning's cool, misty weather makes being warm inside the house feel cosy. DH and the dog both seem to be sleeping in.
