Why did someone “disagree” with my post? Seems rude.2

@Shortgirlrunning, I have gotten a couple of disagrees myself on these challenge forums. I just laugh at it. It is either a very opinionated person or a scrolling mistake. I REALLY would like to believe it's a scrolling mistake.3

Congratulations to everyone who has made it past the halfway mark of this challenge.
19 people have weighed in for the Nov 4 date. I was wondering what percentage of users are still around after 7 weeks of logging, so I put a quick web scraper together and here is what I've found about this group.
There have been 390 posts. Of those posts, there have been 104 unique users. This means that of those people who have visited the challenge and made a post at some point, only 18.3% of those users made a weigh-in post Nov 4th.
Anyway, I thought this was interesting, so I wanted to pass this along.

@mthwbrwn
interesting stats. It's so easy to get off track or have a "party" weekend or a bad day, then just throw in the towel. Let's keep supporting each other and finish the challenge, whether were up or down a notch in our proverbial belts! If we can log one meal, one snack, one 4 oz glass of Malbec, if we think about something before we eat it, if we park further from the store, then we are winning. We all got this 18.3 percenters! Happy Friyay!2 -

@mthwbrwn, Interesting data, but not surprising to me. IMO, everyone that joins a challenge wants to participate 100%. Some challenges I've been a part of, have been started by someone that never shows up again. I know for a fact that many people that fall off, for whatever reason, come back and read our posts, then rejoin the challenge at another time. So, we 18.3 percenters are encouragement to them.4

@mthwbrwn Some people have changed the dates of their weigh-ins for various reasons and do not weigh in on the 4th but are still here weighing. I'm not sure how that fits into your web scraper. It would be interesting to know actual people who persist regarless of exact date. I agree with @tiabirdie56, we are still an inspiration to those who remain. Thanks for sharing the data.1 -

Well I'm no longer over weight and hit my original 12 week goal so I am updating it to try and reach my ultimate goal for before Christmas!! It will be hard and I may not get there but it's comforting to know how quickly I reached my original goal when I put my mind too it.5 -
I don't post everyday, but I'm still in. I check the new posts and weigh in on Mondays. I like these challenges. I check my weight daily and it keeps me honest.3

I took the changed dates into account. (I've had quite a few weeks myself where I didn't get back to the scale until Tues or Wed)
As far as the people who persist, all I did was count back to November 4th and then scroll through the weight postings up until the 7th.
The only thing I used the scraper for was to get a length of the list of posts (total posts) and then a length of the set of that list (unique users) because I wasn't about to manually go through 20 pages and count on all my fingers and toes!
At any rate, I hope that the data comes across as either useful or trivial in the eye of the beholder, but not as an indictment for anyone who needed to take a breather and wants to come back.

@mthwbrwn Thanks again for the info & data. Your explanation makes it even more interesting. I must admit, I love hearing both data & research. Does that make me a bit of a geek? LOL Anyhow, I am proud to stay as committed as I possibly can. It can only help, right?1 -
