Hi everyone- thank you re:photos.
Chin is getting better.
Had bloods taken this morning- hoping there's a reason for feeling tired- I strongly suspect low iron.
Busy day ended with our Youth Group at church- did some Hallow'en type games & bible focus on light- lots of dancing in dark with glow sticks & light up balloons.
@trooworld -interesting article.
@renaergy quesadillas sound good.
@cbabie re: wrist- keep going0 -
@its_cleo Yes just move your body. Enjoy those challenges. So go write down your feelings in a journal somewhere versus eating them. Stress eating only gives you another problem to deal with. Which causes more stress. Sometimes our imagination is worse than reality. I once had a friend who was in an accident and got her leg cut off and her foot on the other leg. I remember feeling anxious about seeing her the first time afterwards and was worried about it. She came to the door opened it and walked back into the house like nothing. She had a couple of prosthetics and was good to go. I hope your visit went well.
@retiredandlovingit Sorry about your bil. Thoughts and prayers for the family. You did well on the road trip snacks. My son sent me pics of the snow. I said it's not even Halloween yet.
@cbabie So what kind of exercises did they give you to strengthen your grip? It's not that cold where you live. I think you'll be okay without the ski mask. lol Middle of the day and layers. That's all you need. The exercise itself will warm you right up. Plus have a hot drink next to you. Everyone needs hydration no matter the form.
@trooworld re:going out to eat, it's really just about staying within my boundaries. Telling myself it's not okay to go over. Planning ahead is probably the most important thing. Deciding what I can eat and how much. I can't be loose with my food and lose weight. It doesn't work that way, I can't have both. But I can have the things I really like to eat in smaller portions, preplanned. Well today wasn't exactly smaller portions. lol I had a bag of kettlecorn. I like to eat popcorn once a week. My friend agrees with that article.
@renaegry Happy Bday to your son. I'm more of a salt girl too. I'm much better than before though. I used to go through 3 bags of week of popcorn but now just 1. So could you make your own personal cheese ball next time, smaller and preportioned so you can plan exactly how much you are going to eat. Then you can plan other foods around it and still stay within your boundaries.
@joannadavison Great way to burn some calories. Dancing in the dark with glow sticks. When do you get your results about the blood tests. Maybe cause you are always so busy all the time. I occasionally have to supplement with iron tabs too.
Ok, enough of that. Another day of staying in boundaries. Exercise was 30 min walk with hubby at the mall.

@trooworld congrats for getting on the bike! Every little bit helps. As for the night out- it's a new day. Your recipes look great. I'm afraid to read that article lol. I like my sugar

@theslightedgeforever yeah my uncle sounds like your friend lol. I think they caught the cancer fairly early. He's in pretty good spirits. My uncle is a rought and tumble guy a lot of fun. He's like 71 but he says he's starting a cancer gang. He actually got t shirts made, about 30 that say Chemo Warriers. He also wears a biker bandanna over his head (he lost his hair from the chemo). He bought some new gold chains- he used to be a jeweller and still has connections with other jewellers. So I guess he was like if I'm going to fight cancer I need some bling.
He and my aunt like cruises and they booked a first class cruise in MArch and he told the doctor 'hey doc, you gotta keep me alive until then'. So he is facing it with a lot of bluster lol. I also think he is enjoying his money and life right now.
I feel better now that I saw him.
@joannadavison low iron can definitely cause energy issues. It's a problem for me as well. Reason #8045 why I could never be a vegetarian.
@cbabie thank you for the prayers
Anyway, I saw my uncle yesterday it went well, as noted above. I feel better about it. I gained a pound this week, which was disappointing, but I was on track for calories so I feel good about that anyway. My 30 day gym challenge is going ok so far. Another busy week coming up.
Take care all1 -
@ all!!! Bloods back mid-week. I love the gym/fitness challenges.
I need to work out how to put mine on a signature!
Had good laugh this morning the young people met at our Minister's house & we (his wife not him, another 2 parents & the 10-15s) planned an escape room for the 'Nativity' service at church. They feel too old to be dressing up as Mary & Joseph now but want to do something fun rather than traditional- so we are setting it up '"Cafe Church" style! My youngest played The Star as a Celebrity Star 2 years ago- so funny she's reprised the character every year since.0 -
@trooworld Woohoo on the bike. That's great. Yes, back on track at your next meal. Thanks for sharing your menus.
@its_cleo Yes but does sugar like you? I'm learning to have sugar in controlled portions and I enjoy every bite. I like that Chemo Warriors. I love his attitude. I'm glad you feel better. They first gave my mom 6 months. She lived 8 more years. Drs just don't know. Problem was for 8 years I thought of my mother as dying. Then one day my friend said you've been saying that years now. So it's good to live each day as we never really know how much time we have.
0 -
@joannadavison I was trying to figure out the signature thing the other day. Then got sidetracked. What a neat idea for Nativity. I hope you get good results.
I stayed OP today with my food and did 59 min of walking.0 -
Ugh. Between the water bloat from drinking and eating this weekend. And the bloat from pms weight is aweful this morning. 17 days to trip. Must get serious.0
-
Morning all, I did get on the treadmill on Saturday, but Sunday was a bust. However, I still hit my 10K steps. My weight is inching up again, so like @reneagry, I need to get serious...LOL With the holidays coming, I need to have a plan in place.
@theslightedgeforever I still remember being called into my bosses office, so that I could be told about moms cancer. I never thought of us seeing mom as dying..I do look back and wish I had spent more of my time with her.
I think my treadmill should go in my garage, but no room right now. I think that is where I will start decluttering.
@joannadavison So glad your chin is healing. Glad you got you blood work done, my mom always said forewarned is forearmed. She was a fighter...LOL
@its_cleo I had to laugh hearing you talk about your Uncle...I think he and my mom would have been great a cancer gang together..she loved bling and motorcycles..I am happy your uncle has a great outlook on this. It really helps with the healing.
@trooworld I love your enthusiasm for living each day. Great job on the bike!! Your recipes sound good, I am still looking at the air fryers.

Good morning!
I just wanted to pop in and say hi. Hubby and I had a wonderful weekend getaway. The concert was amazing and our two days of shopping gave me lots of new clothes for the next few months of fall and winter. Everything I bought just barely fits me which means I need to get back on my plan and continue to lose weight. Today, I need to go to the grocery store and hopefully pick up my work computer, that is in the shop. Plus, I have to figure out what is wrong with my Office suite on my home computer. Yes, @theslightedgeforever, computer glitches are the worse!!

@trooworld good question. Will start with eating less. Been doing the understanding your calories on Fitbit. And was looking thru it and I not reaching my goal. Goal is to be within 50 cals of 1500 and burning 2276 cals. So definitely need to start eating better. Will start with more veggies. Lots of chicken.
Heading to Yorkton today for acupuncture. Going to check out Quesada for lunch. Will have a burrito bowl with chicken and lots of veggies.0 -
@renaegry What goes up must come down. You can do it! So now you have a plan. Preplan your meals and snacks each day to within 50 cals of 1500. I just plug in what I want to eat and if I'm over my calorie limit, then I start working with portion sizes. For instance, I'll have 1 c of spaghetti and not 1.5 c. When I get my numbers like I want them, that's what I eat for the day. I just measure my food and go. I do plan in things like popcorn and chocolate occasionally. All of my treats. Burrito bowl sounds good.
@trooworld Yes, the habit of getting on the bike is the most important thing. I once followed a blogger who started with one minute of exercise and then gradually increased. My thinking would be, I'm not getting on my shoes for a minute of exercise. lol But she did and she succeeded. I've lost her name. I wonder if she is consistent still now. Oh, I thought we could add our goals into our signature. Well, I can copy and paste too. The problem is remembering to do it.
@cbabie So Sunday wasn't a bust. You hit 10000. Start thinking of some little things you do each day to give yourself credit for regarding your food. Like stopped at 3 T of PB instead of 4 or whatever. Write those down each day and read them to yourself. Funny how we saw the same situation differently. (mom) I wonder if they were telling us different things. Although now I'm reading Mom liked motorcycles. Maybe we had different moms. I'm the one who likes motorcycles. Less and less on the bling now though.
@teresaw1020 Sounds like you had a refreshing and fun weekend. Best part was all those clothes. lol
I stayed OP with my food. Exercise was a rest day. Interesting thing I noticed....my bp is up again and I'm due for my period. Last time my bp was up like this was at the beginning of my period. I never knew the two could be related. Maybe it's not related and just a coincidence. I'll keep tracking and see.

Morning all, Just a quick note. I am on my way out the door for a job interview. I was told I had it, not really sure I want it, but I need to work for a bit. I have to take a typing test today. LOL . Thankfully my wrist is healed enough I can type again. Just NOT ALL DAY..
. I was good eating yesterday until drama hit our house about 9:30 last night and ate more in one sitting than I did all day. I see how that wasn't necessary and will do better next time. (there seems to always be a next time) . LOL
@trooworld Congrats on eating only the cheese. See your mind is working FOR you and not against you now. Our minds our powerful things. You can do the bike thing...you got it.
@theslightedgeforever No we had the same mom, I am pretty sure. She always told me she wanted a bike and her and dad travel the countryside...and no we were told the same thing...I just looked at it differently.
@TeresaW1020 I am so glad you had a great time. We all need a break in our normal routine!!!
Cbabie0 -
@trooworld You are on a roll. Keep it up! I just need to remember to add in my November goals everytime.
@cbabie So you get credit for doing well most of the day. Then you hit a drama speed bump. So what can you do next time instead of eat to escape your feelings and comfort yourself. Maybe describe in detail in your journal what you are trying to accomplish when you sit down and eat X. So it would start like, Day was going well until about 9:30 pm. Drama hit our house so I sat down and ate X. I was trying to........... I didn't want to............ Go back later and see what comes out of that. It would be good to make up some response/reminder cards for you to read when drama comes your way. Here's some.... #1 I want to feel better.…...I can continue to overeat and feel better temporarily OR I can comfort myself in non-food ways, lose weight, and start reaping the benefits I want. #2 When I want to eat fast food or some other unhealthy food after an upsetting moment, remember: I’m entitled to take care of myself and I’m entitled to feel better, but I’m also entitled to get everything on my advantages list, so I have to find other ways to comfort myself. (Advantages list are all the things that you gain by following your food plan consistently. I have things on mine like reduce my risk for cancer to get into the red dress with flowers on it.) #3 If I eat when I’m upset, I’ll only feel momentary comfort. Then I’ll have 3 problems: the original problem, then feeling bad and out of control, and then weight gain. Do I want 3 problems or just one. #4 When I was the most upset I ever remember feeling, I still survived. Negative emotions aren’t bad. They are part of being human. I don’t need to make them go away. Negative emotions always crest, like a wave, and then start to come down. I don’t have to be afraid of my feelings. These were some from the book Diet Traps by Judith Beck. She encourages you to also make up your own and read them several times until the feelings pass. It's a very interesting book. Remember you said the mind is a powerful thing? Put it to work for you.
Food was OP today even though I had to change my plans all of a sudden. Dh calls and says I'm headed home lets go to lunch. This is a red day. How will I fit a restaurant into a red day? But I did. I had a mixed grill plate with chicken/beef skewers. Ignored my rice completely. ate 1/4 c hummus with a bit of bread. Actually, I ran out of bread so I started dipping my meat chunks into the hummus and ate it that way. plus 3 stuffed dolmas (grape leaves) That was most of my carbs for the day. I had chicken breast and salad for dinner. Ended up with 97/100 for my carbs. Another successful day. Exercise was 18 min walk.

Sorry just a flying visit.
I'm at Starbucks near where youngest does Police Cadets. Got my laptop & planner and about to start next weeks's lesson plans. My aim to finish before I have to collect her & go home.
Eldest off school tomorrow until Monday- off to London with Sea Cadets- she & 1 other selected to represent their District at Remembrance Events in London. So mad packing when I get home!!0 -
Afternoon all. Same story as the night before...only I was up til midnight and MADE myself lay in bed until 7...however, my fitbit says I got almost 6 hours of sleep and it's poor sleep..awake all night...LOL. The good news is I am tracking!!!! baby steps gals baby steps...
@joannadavison Wow you have a busy schedule with your kids...and yet I "hear" a proud mama..LOL . Glad you stopped by for a quick visit
@theslightedgeforever Yea not so sure I am good at the responses, but I am learning/hearing my DH not to let this person be in control of the conversation...take control and own it. I am so proud that you stuck to your plan.
@trooworld Yea great on the win at lunch...see we can live life and still be in control of our food choices!!!! Thank you I hopefully will really just like this job...I really want a routine in my life. LOL
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Woohoo on the cashew chicken. I have bookclub tomorrow and I'll be basically doing the same thing. Just ordering some kind of "meat" dish. Thanks for sharing about the water. One of my nemesis too. Oh that's not positive. Must change my thinking on that. One of my struggles. Goals: See already forgot by the time I got down to the end of the personals. lol I'm impressing myself on the red days. I guess because they are the bulk of my days each week towards the end of my cycle that I'm learning how to navigate them. Look at you too. Old Troo wouldn't be skipping the treats in the break room in favor of cheese. Go You!
@joannadavison London, how exciting. Well, do you have a plan for the week for food and exercise? It all starts with the plan.
@cbabie Baby steps are the way to go. Give yourself credit. no one is good at responses at the beginning I don't think. It's a skill to be practiced and repeated. That's why the idea of reading them everyday is important because they go into your brain and then the brain starts remembering them for you and recalls them. Yes take control and own it. In every situation in our lives. We are the one who suffers the consequences, why let someone else drive the car?
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.
Last red day for the week. "claps hands screaming Yaaaay" I ate leftovers from the day before and got to eat 3/4 c of the rice I ignored. So another day is done. I like something I read in my 100 day book. Don't think about the future. Following your meal plan "forever" sounds hard. Following your meal plan "just for today" is doable. Exercise was 10 min walk in morning, then went to my walking club. I was the only one there and really thought about skipping it because I had so many errands to run. Then thought I'm supposed to be making my meal plans and exercise #1 priority and fitting everything else around those. So I said I would just do one loop. Got close to the end of the loop and told myself that had others been here, I would have done two loops and still would have had to finish up the errands. So two loops done. Go Me!1 -
@theslightedgeforever, I like that advice your book gave you. It can be really overwhelming to think that I need to focus on my diet forever because I will always fail myself with that kind of thinking. But focusing on just today is much more doable. Today, there is NO reason NOT to stay on plan. Tomorrow will have to take care of tomorrow.

@cbabie, congrats on the new job even though you don’t sound too enthused. 😉 Sorry about the drama and I hope you don’t beat yourself up overeating too much while stressed out. You just have to try to do better next time. The time to worry is when you stop trying to do better.
@trooworld, I agree with that article on drinking water. I know that when I don’t drink enough, I feel and it affects my weight and my skin. I try to drink a gallon a day but some days it can be really hard to get it all in. You are doing great with your food choices!!
So sorry that I haven’t been posting much! This week has been so very busy. The computer at work got its new hard drive so I’m going to work today but hopefully will try to get out early and go to Trader Joes and come back home and work at my house. I decided to put up Christmas and my house is a hot mess of boxes and glitter! And I’m having two of my dearest friends over for dinner tomorrow night and I really want the place to look nice since they haven’t been here yet. I think there might be lots of shoving things in closets and hoping they don’t look too closely!
I’ve been pretty good with my eating since coming back home after my weekend getaway. Weight is still up almost a pound though and I’ve moved my weigh-in day to Fridays so maybe I can get a bit more off today.

Morning all!
I loved going and reading your posts. Do you realize each one of you have moved into another zone in our journey? After I read all the post and heard in my head the Old Troo....well think this. The Old Teresa, the Old slightedge...You have each moved your goals up and achieved new ones...I am so proud and can't wait to see what this month brings. We are going into about 6 weeks of people saying it only comes ones a year....it's okay to eat that fudge, it's okay to have another glass of.....well yes it only comes once a year...but if you are an addict to heroin....you can't say, it only comes once a year. It will send you right back to where you were with that addiction in a matter of minutes. SOOOOOOO..what is the plan this year to keep moving in the right direction? Do you know your triggers, do you know what will send you back to not tracking, not moving...as the slightedge says...it's a matter of reading them everyday to get them in your brain so that when it comes up it's an automatic response, not a hold on, let me look at my cards to see what I should think/say.
@trooworld I am so very proud of you. did you get on your bike yesterday? Yes my sister has a way....LOL
@TeresaW1020 LOL I laughed, I could see you shoving all in your closet and hoping they don't open..I was watching Sesame Street with my GGD a couple of days ago and they had a "door" that when it opened it was filled to the top with shoes...yes they all came out on Elmo...This was my "vision" of your closet. LOL . I hope you enjoy your company and I know you are a great hostess..so they will have fun as well.
@theslightedgeforever You know how I hate others driving...LOL . I am trying to decide if I can get on the treadmill in the afternoon after I get off work..presuming I keep and go..LOL . I have always been a early bird and exercise and bible reading were done before shower...different routine. New cards....HELP!!! LOL

Hellooooo
@cbabie I'm with you on the sleep not helping. I've always been a bit of night owl but it takes me ages to unwind on a night. 1 night a week I blitz my planning & last night after that I ended up chillin for another hour. I need more sleep- it affects chemicals which make weight loss harder.
Good luck with new job.
My husband took voluntary redundancy from teaching 2 years ago & now works for a UK supermarket on the meat/fish/,food to go counters- he works Tues-Sat from 1pm or 3pm until 8.30pm so I do all the after school running around- hence my busy life - we used to share it before.
@theslightedgeforever sadly my weekend plans arw chauffeuring youngest to opticians then the Remembrance Parade in Durham City with her cadets!! At least both DH & I get to watch her- normally we take turns as to who goes with who!! I will be meal planning as somewhere in the weekend I have to do grocery shopping!
Re:@cbabie's comment on it's only once a year. This year, DH has ordered decadent puddings from work & a veggie option - we'll also get a turkey which my Mum will cook. We have the 4 of us, my Mum, my Aunt & Uncle (Mum's sis), my cousin (moved back to UK after 16 years) & her daughter- may also have her son & possibly estranged hubbie (he kicked her out but now trying hard to sort it out- only he lives in Sweden!- like an episode of Friends!!!) So we will have a lot this year. Lots of healthy veggies & my once a year 'posh cheese' indulgence but it will be tracked & hope to plan in less calories rest of week. I'm hoping to give away any chocolate- our WW group used to collect them: I'm thinking food bank or homeless shelter.
Best I go do the school run. Then I can chill in bubble bath- I'm sitting in gym cafe- post HIIT workout very sweaty! 🤣🤣
1 -
@teresaw1020 Yes, so just concentrate on today. That's all we are guaranteed anyway, if you think about it. I've been known to throw things in grocery bags in closets and then deal with it later. Stash and Dash. What's your plan for the holidays?
@trooworld Glad to impart my wisdom to others. But sometimes it is do as I say not as I do. I'm still a work in progress. Bookclub was good. We read Where the Crawdads Sing. I think the movie will be good.
@cbabie And you know how others feel about your driving too. lol But God blessed me with a daughter just like you. Lucky me. Nice words of wisdom about the holidays. It's so true. The best time to exercise is when you are most likely to do it.
@joannadavison What's your favorite posh cheese? I love cheeses. Good plan for the holiday. Woohoo on getting in a HIIT workout. That's good that you are taking care of yourself in addition to your family.
Waving hi to the rest of you
Today was green and I love my green days. Stayed OP. So I went to bookclub. I ordered marinated chicken breast and a sweet potato. Did an 18 min walk in the morning and then in the afternoon, I did a combination of strength training and aerobics for 45 min. Tomorrow will be a rest day. I lost 0.5 lbs this week.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.

@cbabie, you make me smile!
Wise words about knowing our triggers and having a plan to ward them off. You are also right that we will hear over and over that “it only comes around once a year.” I do that to myself all too often but I don’t want to go back to the old me!! I don’t! I want all those new winter clothes that are in my closet to be wayyyy to big come next winter and hubby will have to take me to buy all new ones again. If I keep choosing “just this once” over and over, then those new clothes aren’t even going to fit me this year because they will be too tight. I’m not going to let that happen! And it’s not just a closet right now. It’s an entire spare room. I told my husband to NOT let them in that room!
@joannadavison, ohhhh my what a family you have! Do you like the estranged husband?
You sound like you have a good plan for eating and I do believe in the “planned indulgences” but they need to be really worth it and yes to track!
Good morning! Well, my house is finally decorated for Christmas and it looks lovely! Last night it did look like a glitter bomb had exploded all over my kitchen but most of it got swept up and hubby has instructions to do a thorough vacuuming today. I’m doing a taco bar for dinner tonight with Spanish rice and Mexican street corn salad. I’m also making fresh guacamole! If I stay out of the chips much of the dinner should be totally doable. There will be dessert but I plan to fast most of the day and hopefully it won’t hurt me too much. I moved my weigh-in day to Friday’s and I’m up a pound for the week.
It might not have been so bad but last night I was so tired and covered in glitter and I just didn’t feel like trying to cook dinner so hubby went and got us Subway sandwiches. Tomorrow, I plan to get back on plan 100% and back to my workouts. I’m going to do this workout out called 80-Day Obsession. It will probably kill me.

@TeresaW1020 I think the clothes are a great motivator! Because I gained weight in September, all of my pants are too tight. So yep it is a motivator for sure. Yesterday I was in the grocery store and they had some nice coffee chocolate cake, and I was tempted, but then I thought about my pants. Nope! Managed to pass.
Glad you got your house decorated. The dinner sounds lovely. 80 Day obsession! Is that a mobile app you use? Good luck with it. I’m still in my gym’s 30 day challenge, but some of the workouts are lighter than others lol. Sometimes I just take a casual stroll on the treadmill and watch tv.
@trooworld that’s awesome about the bagel. Office food is the worst for temptation.
@theslightedgeforever looks like a great dinner. I love sweet potato. Haven’t been able to buy any here for a while, the crop just doesn’t seem very good or something. I can’t explain it, but the colour is off and they taste bad.
@cbabie what a lovely post…I don’t know if I have moved into another zone but I have tried. You’re right about the holidays. I have a birthday coming up before Christmas. I usually indulge a lot in both. I’ve been thinking a lot about my birthday and what to do. Still not sure. Normally I have Chinese food, and chocolate cake, and a drink. And yep, normally I feel sick after all that lol. I need to pick one. I can’t decide.
I’m okay. Work has been busy, and I’ve been sitting a lot working. This eventually hurts my back, so I’m suffering from it today. I think I mentioned ages ago one of my motivations for exercising is that if I sit too long it really causes me a lot of pain/problems. But when work gets in the way what can you do? So I was only able to have a good workout one day this week, for the rest I tried stretching and mobility. The good thing with my back is I can recover if I do the right things.
I’m on track with calories so I feel good about that.
Going to a museum with a friend this week. They have a special exhibit, something to do with the history of horror movies. I’m not a big horror buff but I’m curious about the display.
Speaking of horror movies, first snowfall yesterday! Fortunately it melted.
Take care all!

@trooworld Woohoo on the salami. You have really taken control of your office situation. Why not ride the bike in your pj's? Nobody says you have to wear exercise clothes when you bike. Right now you are only doing 5 min. Or could you move the bike ride to when you get home. Change out of office wear and into exercise gear. Go destress on the bike 5 min to switch gears. No pun intended. lol Then you could finish out the rest of your night.
@teresaw1020 Have you thought of getting a salad at Subway? They will turn any sandwich into a salad. Taco bar sounds fun.
@its_cleo Way to go on passing up the cake. Those pants will be loose in no time. Stroll/Treadmill/TV: You're describing the majority of my workouts. lol But it's working. The sweet potatoes I buy in the store are lighter and didn't taste this good. Maybe they imported it from somewhere so they could charge me higher prices. lol . I really enjoyed it though. My daughter would love that horror movie exhibit. Yaaay on staying within our calories.
Yellow Day-Stayed OP despite going out. Lots of self talk involved and ended up dipping my chicken in the hummus cause eating the bread would have put me over. Meanwhile my food pusher hubby thought it was a good idea to moan through each bite of bread and say this is really good, are you sure you don't want any? I kept repeating the phrase, No thank you. I'll have some next time. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Luckily I had just done an assignment this week on how to deal with food pushers. It worked. Exercise was a rest day. More water needed.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.

@theslightedgeforever my favourite posh cheese is Wenslydale & Cranberry (it's UK cheese from Wensleydale which is light, creamy & crumbly) I also love French Brie. Looks like you've managed to get a fair bit of exercise in. What exactly are green, red & yellow days?
@TeresaW1020 yes to the family! They make us look positively boring!! Cousin's hubbie is lovely- except how he treated them a few months ago when they separated. He's in UK for work last week & this week & driven 30Omiles to spend weekend with them- I'm hopeful for reconciliation but there's a lot to work out & her decision - I'm there for support not to influence. I have no problems with him coming for Christmas so long as she wants that. Mexican sounds good. I love Tex-Mex. Hoping to visit my sis in San Diego next year- will be eating Tex-Mex there!! We normally put Christmas decorations up 1st Sunday in advent. But I'm looking for some fairy lights now.
I'm taking to heart the comments about- "just this once". I'm currently at a Tea Shop with youngest (hubbie at work & eldest in London) so it's a treat- run by an old school friend who's good pla of my sis- downside: his cakes are gorgeous & we were indulging while I was reading posts. I really need to get my sugarr consumption under control!!
@its_cleo yup to the clothes. I refuse to buy next size up. Most of mine are tight & I need to get back to at least next size down- about 2 stone away! Enjoy museum- sounds interesting.
Hi to everyone I've missed!!!
Today is only just above feeezing. I'm struggling with my mood a little - work good but just so full of busy on a night & with run up to Christmas-I've only got a few presents & no clue about what to get others- want it sorted soon as I can't be doing with last minute. Eldest has mock exams soon & the school have been piling pressure on so she feels stressed & is difficult to deal with- been to school to see Head (new one/Principal) & he is trying to turn around the negative/fear/threat culture. In addition DH is low too- so I worry. I think it's SAD with dark nights & mornings. I'm posting Thankfuls on FB to help duringN November. Found out this morning joiner doing kitchen in 2 weeks time & then plumber ensuite shower room the week after!! I knew about latter but didn't think we'd get kitchen beforw Christmas- pretty much all picked out. Maybe I can eat at my Mums & give her my recipes????? Either that or make up a load of meals for freezer & microwave!!!!!

Hi all, I am back from OK again, altho might be going back for Thanksgiving. Dh & dd both think we will be. A long time ago when dd was in Alpharetta GA with 2 little ones, we didn't like them driving home in the snow for Christmas, so we started alternating Christmas here with dd, and the next with dd there. (now she is in OK, so closer, but still not close enough, lol) Anyway, I guess a few years back we started alternating Thanksgiving also. No matter where we are, it will just be dd's family & us, so don't need to go overboard, lol.
@TeresaW1020 Your Mexican sounds good. Have fun with your friends & showing off your new house. They don't need to see "everything", lol. Glad your weekend was fun.
@joannadavison Sounds like your kids keep you super busy. Enjoy it, they grow up way too fast!!
@its_cleo Good job on your calories! When is your birthday? Mine is right before Christmas, too. Always tell my brother I was his Christmas present--not sure he agrees, tho, lol. We are supposed to get more snow & frigid temps tomorrow. Highs in the 20's! Yuck, not ready for winter yet!
@theslightedgeforever Wow--you are a determined lady! You need to send some my way. You are doing so well.
@trooworld Great weigh-in! I agree with your dh, no Christmas b4 Thanksgiving. Need to get my Halloween put away & get out Thanksgiving, lol.
@cbabie Yours was such an encouraging post. Not sure I have turned a corner yet, but am still working on it, which is what is important. Never ever give up!! Good luck with your new job, hope it is great! Thinking about the "once a year". Need to think about that & not let it derail us!
Well, gotta go. Going to gson basketball game this afternoon. Fun watching 9-10 year olds play, lol. & I suppose I should get busy & do something around here first.
November goals: average 10,000 steps (some days more, some less, but average is what counts), 64 oz water, stay under maintenance calories!0 -
@joannadavison There's a place that sells imported cheeses. I wonder if they would have your posh cheese. Although I'm thinking posh=expensive so I'll have to see how much it is before I buy. I've tried Brie at my friend's house but don't know if it was French or not. I'm doing a carb cycling program. So the number of carbs I'm allowed varies with the days. Red-100 Yellow-125-150/148-164 Green 199-238
@trooworld Doing the happy dance for you for losing 1.5 lbs. I'm right there with you on slower progress than I would like but I've been consistent since August and this plan works better than anything else I've tried. I'm smiling about your husband helping because around here if it's something he has to do that I can't do he says I'm tired from work can't you wait for the weekend. Weekend comes and I ask him and it's It's the weekend this is my relaxing time.
I totally agree with your dh. Christmas shouldn't be put up til after Thanksgiving. My favorite holiday too.
@renaegry Just enjoy the heck out of your weekend with no plans. That sounds so relaxing. I seem to have been go go go lately. I need a renew and refresh day.
@retiredandlovingit I'm going to lose this weight once and for all. I've been saying that for decades it seems and do lose and do gain it back. I'm tired of that game. Nice November goals.
Green Day-Stayed OP- Enjoyed 1/2 piece of some dessert that I made. It was too sweet though which means my tastes are changing. That's a good thing. Normally I would have had 2 pieces. Exercise was 23 min walk with hubby and then 38 min walk by myself.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.0 -
@its_cleo, good job on passing up cake!!
I bought my first pair of skinny jeans and I think I should just carry them around with me as a reminder not to eat all the things!
80 Day Obsession is a workout program on Beachbody On Demand. I’m doing one called A Little Obsession for the next five days before I jump into 80 Day. I’m still not sure if I will be able to do it. I know you will be getting a lot of snow so seeing it probably isn’t very welcoming. I’m hoping we get to see it at least once this winter.
@theslightedgeforever, I thought about the salad once I was sitting at my table eating the sandwich. Ooops!!
I guess you will have to thank your hubby for how strong he is making you. Mine is the opposite and I’m often having to tell him to stop policing everything I eat. Men!
@joannadavison, I have such a love affair with cheese!
I’m thinking about doing a baked brie with a fresh cranberry chutney for my Christmas party this year. Yes, California has the best Tex-Mex. Make sure that you and hubby are getting enough vitamin D which is supposed to help with SAD. Yayyyy to a new kitchen! You will have to share pics with us.
@trooworld, girl congrats on your weight loss!!! I am so happy for you!
You should see my spare room since I put up all my Christmas decorations. It’s a huge scary mess! My hubby thought I was nuts too for putting up Christmas before Thanksgiving, but he gave in and now really likes seeing all the pretties. Plus, now I won’t be doing it on Thanksgiving Day like I normally do, and we can enjoy the day and do something fun.
@RetiredAndLovingIt, I love 9 to 10 year old’s! That is the age I teach in Sunday School and they can be very entertaining. Good job on getting in your 10,000 steps a day and drinking your water!
Good morning! It’s cold here this morning and I am currently wrapped in a blanket. I know I have a small space heater around here somewhere and need to find it for my office. My taco bar dinner party went great and the time spent with our friends was very special. This was the young couple, I wrote about a few weeks ago who is having a baby that will not survive once born.
They brought their 2-year-old son and he hit it off big time with my little dog and he didn’t touch too many of my Christmas decorations. 😊
Yesterday, I started a new 100-day challenge with my Beachbody coach. I’m committing to the workouts, drinking my water, tracking, and no cheating (although occasional planned indulgences that I track is something I will probably allow). My weight is up from all the overindulging I have been doing so I’m reigning it in. The next event is the church Thanksgiving dinner and I’m already thinking about stuff I can bring that will be on my plan.

@trooworld well done on the loss
@renaergy hello!
@RetiredAndLovingIt - I can't believe how quick they do grow. Comparing a picture of my eldest aged 16 in cadet uniform today with one of DH next to Berlin Wall aged 21 some 34/5 years ago & they look about same age!! Feel like only a couple of years ago they were born not 16 & almost 14!
@theslightedgeforever you might get Wensleydale in a British Shop but it will be expensive. It's the same cheese 'Wallace & Gromit ' eat- do you have that cartoon/animation in the USA???
@TeresaW1020 agree with Vit D- I had a superdose last year & that was one of things they're checking in my bloods. Was hoping for results last Thursday but they weren't back. Looking fwd to Tex-Mex in CA
Hello to everyone else. I'm at train station to meet my cousin (weekend away) been at Remembrance Parade in Durham this morning. Train arrived- catch you later0 -
Well I was under calories this week but still somehow gained a pound. Not sure how or why, but I'm just moving on. Got a good core workout at the gym today, but most of the week was pretty sedentary.
I went to the museum- I was interested in a special display of old horror movie posters like from the 20s and 30s and onward. The collection is owned by one of the Metallica guitar players. He actually has a collection of electronic guitars painted like some of the posters- old 20s pictures of Frankenstein, Dracula, the Mummy, etc. It was pretty cool.
All kinds of other culture in the museum but I was only interested in the movie posters lol. I have some pictures, I will upload them this week and give you guys the link.
I wanted to tell you guys about a good breakfast I’ve been having though it does have carbs. I eat eggs a ton for breakfast but I get sick of them. So I have homemade apple cinnamon oatmeal. I get the rolled outs, ½ cup overnight mixed with ½ of milk. Then in the morning ½ tsp of cinnamon and a diced apple. It is delicious. Other times I make it with a tbsp of peanut butter and a sliced banana.
@trooworld sounds like the room is coming along! I still dont know how to organize my place properly. Steaks and mac and cheese- I never thought of such a thing. It sounds like the best thing ever lol!—That’s cool you like horror movies. I never used to and then slowly I got into it. I only watch them when I’m in the mood. One of the things that stops me now was I used to always watch them with nachos and salsa and dip. Because how scary can it be when you’ve got nachos? That was my theory lol. I think the last one I saw was Conjuring 2. I really want to see Get Out and the Quiet something or other from last year. But I dunno if I can do it without nachos
@theslightedgeforever glad you’re making progress. Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday too, but ours is past.
@TeresaW1020 I looked up that program. It looks cool and challenging. I’m glad you had a nice time with your friends- I do remember you mentioning that, I hope they’re doing ok. – You can have our snow! If we get buried I’ll try to take a pic.
@joannadavison enjoy your trip!
@retiredandloving it- ha ha about the birthdays and xmas! Mine is actually not too close to xmas- it’s Dec 3. My brother is Dec 6 – but 2 years later. When I was a kid we always had the same party which I hated. This year it’s a Tuesday. Not sure what to do, I may take it off work. I'm turning the big 43. – weather- I think it might get colder where you are than me.
Take care all!0
