@teresaw1020 80 Day Obsession- Your sabotaging thought I'm still not sure if I'll be able to do it. Response: I'm going to give the 80 Day Obsession my best shot and I'll be doing it much better at the end than when I first started it. Even if you have to modify some moves it still counts as doing it.
@joannadavison I've never seen an episode but I know who Wallace and Gromit are. Keep working on your food and exercise goals and you'll be able to drop a kilo this month.
@trooworld Hooray on your exercise. So what thoughts crossed your mind when dh was plating up the mac and cheese? "A little won't hurt" "I'll do some extra exercise tomorrow" "That looks so good" Is there anyway to add to your plan "planned indulgences" so you could have mac and cheese and not feel any guilt or whatever? Kind of like WW weekly points. Instead you get X number of carbs. So you would say to yourself I'm not going to eat any today but I'll plan a small portion for tomorrow. It's the impulse eating that we are trying to control.
@its_cleo Moving on is a good attitude. I've had the same thing. I'm up a lb since last week and I have been following my plan and exercising. No reason for it other than maybe sodium in the restaurant food or Granny Flo preparing to make a visit. It's happened before but still a bit discouraging. So I'm glad I'm taking the long view and I will be losing this weight. The oatmeal sounds good. I'll try it. I was going to change my Thursday Green Day breakfast to oatmeal so I'll try this. What is the significance of Thanksgiving Day for Canadians? I always wondered that. And I just might have already asked you this question. lol
Red day- Stayed OP. Just barely. Got 99. I exercised for 16 min today. I planned more but was hormonal, got into a tiff with the family, so went to my room and watched TV. lol So a definite response card needs to be worked out for that situation for the future. That didn't help me get to my goal.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.0 -
I am sure I have asked before. But does anyone have the premium?. Is is worth the money? I see they have some pretty cool programs you can do with premier.0
-
@trooworld, Yeah I think my spare room is starting to become a hazard zone too.
I’ve had all my Christmas stuff in cardboard boxes and I’m going to switch them to plastic tubs this year, so I just kind of need to wait until January and then I can organize it all. Good looking menu you planned! I need to do mine today too. Yayyyy to you not having any trigger foods. I failed last week but this week I am NOT failing.
@its_cleo, sorry about the weight gain.
It’s the most frustrating when we are doing things right and the scale still betrays us. Yes, I need to see pics of snow. The chances that we will get snow that actually sticks for more than a minute is rare. I mostly just want it so I can video my little dog in her backyard.
@theslightedgeforever, once again you are right and your wisdom rings true! Yes, I’m going to give it my all and know that each day will make fitter and stronger. Plus, I really want that feeling of accomplishment that I stuck to it for the entire program. I’m always a great starter and a terrible finisher. That needs to stop!!
@renaegry, I don’t know anything about the premium and if it’s worth it. I thought someone here had it but I can’t remember who.
I miss Trisha!!
Good morning! This week will actually be a normal week and I’m happy to have it! Today, I think I will make a grocery list and hit the store after work. Tomorrow is supposed to be low 30’s and raining. I don’t want to go out in that nonsense! Have a good day!

@trooworld I see by the bell they have a clip board now with available plans regarding eating and steps. Weekly and monthly. Looks like something I would like for the motivation.0
-
@renaegry There is a step challenge thread that I have gotten on again for the last few months. Look for Monthly Step Challenge-November 2019. I think it helps me (usually, but not the last few days, lol.) I keep track of daily, monthly total, & then average daily steps. The eating I am still working on, lol.
@its_cleo My birthday is Dec 22, and my "little" sister is Dec 5(she's 4 yrs younger) Far enough apart that we always had separate birthdays & my parents made sure my birthday was separate from Christmas, too. Although I usually had a Santa on my cake, lol. Always wonder about the overnight oats..so do you eat it cold?
Talking about store rooms, I have 2 huge closets in the bedrooms downstairs that have not been organized since we moved in 2 years ago. One is my craft closet, need to get rid of stuff I don't do any more. & the other is full of extra old bedding & smaller clothes from way back (that I might someday get into, lol). Really need to purge a lot from both. Keep saying it is my winter project, so hopefully this year.
Well, gotta go. Its Veterans Day, so dh is filling up on free food & I tag along. Trying hard not to fill up as much as I have been. Going to see dd always gets me started & it takes a little while to rein it in again. Hope everyone has a great day.
Oh yeah, 3" of snow last night. Yuck, it could have waited awhile for me!!0 -
Morning all, Sorry I have been MIA. I have no excuse except Friday was a very emotional day and I am just getting back to not being depressed.

Thank my Grandson for trying to ruin my no sugar or sweets...but it is still unopened..
@RetiredAndLovingIt Sounds like you are on the right track...and no thanks on the snow.
@TeresaW1020 I bet your home looks great. Yes you can do this. I just finished going through my clothes closet and I have a huge lawn & garden leaf bag to give away!!!
@trooworld LOL I had to laugh at the PJ workout remark. I am so glad you post your recipes. Helps me get ideas. Congrats on the loss, you are doing great!
@its_cleo It's so good to hear laughter in your post!!!! Yea Dec is a big or was a big month in our family.
@theslightedgeforever I am glad you have found something to know that you know you are getting this down this time. It makes me happy....besides, I can steal your ideas...LOL
Cbabie0 -
@cbabie that does look tempting! Tell yourself it's for the kids. Yeah thank you I am feeling good again.
@RetiredAndLovingIt I eat the oats cold, though you could warm them up if you want.
@theslightedgeforever Thanksgiving- I think it's the same as US- the settlers came from England/Europe. The only difference is here they still wanted to be part of the Commonwealth....thus the Queen is still our head of state, but it's just a formality. She has no power.
We also don't make a big deal about Plymouth rock. Like when I watch TV they show kods doing Thanksgiving plays about the pilgrims? We don't really do that.
@TeresaW1020 yeah dogs love snow. And it's nice for kids. I don't mind it except I can't exercise outside as much. I don't ski or anything.
@trooworld I might watch them over xmas lol. It's the only time I have to watch movies really.0 -
Hi all
Just a quick note tonight.
I'm kind of struggling to get my head in right place to stay focused. I'm tracking but need to be more accurate. I also need less sugar- so I'm trying to plan a little different.
Looks like quite a few on organisation tasks at home. We start next weekend as kitchen prep starts a week today!0 -
@renaegry I have premium and I answered you on the comments where you posted on Home. I mentioned I like it because I have different calorie goals for different days. Higher on Thursdays and Saturdays when I'm more social. Plus I like seeing my carbs listed in order of highest to lowest so I can be aware of what foods I need to be careful with. You can do that for any nutrient or macro. Like if someone had high blood pressure, they could track all the sodium items in one place. It's just a time saver I think. Plus you can change your dashboard to show the things you care about tracking the most. Hmmm. I don't have anything by my bell. Maybe I don't have that turned on in my settings.
@teresaw1020 I too struggle with that start/finish thing. I'm getting better but.....still needs work. I guess cause I'm busy chasing the next shiny object.
@trooworld Even with spur of the moment occurrences you can plan for them. By that I mean think of a situation that might occur. You know what kind of things in your life has thrown you off of your plan. Visits to the family, dh not wanting to help with meal prep, going out with friends. These are just some of the things I know you mentioned. Why not have a contingency plan in place for these situations. The thing is do they happen often enough to hinder your weight loss or are they just a one off. If they hinder you, time to tweak the plan to include them. Set a slightly higher carb goal just for those days/situations.
@retiredandlovingit I have a corner of my office that needs sorting. Been there a LONG time. It's much smaller now. I hope to get it done before I die. I noticed the snow. My son has to drive from Johnston to Grinnell every day. It worries me in the winter.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.

@cbabie turn it upside down as a reminder that you will gain 2 lbs if you eat it. You can't steal what I give away for free. :P Besides February was the best month in our family.
@its_cleo You eat the oats cold? :imagine my face: lol That's interesting. Thanks for the Canadian history lesson. I never thought of the settlers going to Canada. Who were the indigineous people? Indians well Native Americans? (can't keep up with all the word changes)
@joannadavison You know I'm not an all or nothing person. But baby steps. So could you incrementally lower your sugar intake? Of course tracking is the most important part. Otherwise how will you know how much you've eaten? So how about for rest of November track every bite, lick, taste that goes into your mouth. Also just eat half of anything sweet that you were going to. Instant reduction on sugar grams and calories that way. Bonus: You get to enjoy the little part you had. I've learned to take smaller bites on things like that. I enjoyed a couple of Milky Way minis today. In actuality, I can pop the whole thing in my mouth and swallow and not even really taste it, it's so small. But I deliberately have been making each one last about 5-6 tiny bites and enjoying the flavor and texture to make it last longer. Very satisfying. I can't imagine life without chocolate.
@trishastime If you're lurking, we miss you.
Yellow day- Stayed OP. Went to a friend's house for brunch. She's struggling with controlling her diabetes so this was the first time that we got together and didn't have sweets or desserts. I said don't make any on my account. I can get mine at home. I walked 23 min in the morning and then later realized it was my rest day. Oh well. Better for my body.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.0 -

@trooworld Looks like just you and I. Maybe you are holding onto a bit of sodium bloat. I've been staying within my guidelines each day and I'm up a lb. I'm say oh well. Moving on and keeping to my habits. I'm also about 6 days late on my period so hopefully it's just that.
So situation is that you don't want to cook:
possible solutions: Keep items in the house that is easy to prepare or grab. yogurt, scramble up some eggs, (I know you said you don't want to cook but really it's 5 min or less) pepperoni slices, almonds, cheese cubes.
Low carb frozen meal in the freezer
Order keto-friendly take-out
Prep all your meals for the week so they are ready to eat
Allow yourself X amount of carbs weekly as a bonus like WW does. On WW, we had our daily smartpoints and then we had weeklies that we could tap into if we needed them. Most of the time we can choose not to need them.
If you lived by yourself this would be an easier choice but you have an accomplice in helping you deviate from the plan. So in your mind you could be practicing your response to his conversation: Honey, I don't feel like cooking tonight. Let's order out tonight. I think X sounds good. What's the proper response to that. It depends on how much you want to lose weight. You could say, yes I'm tired but I really want to stick to my plan so tonight I'm going to go scramble me up a couple of eggs and add a bit on the side. I'll feel better later cause I stayed in control. I'll be so happy when I step on the scale and see it move downward. OR you could say, Yes I'm tired too. Let's order poke bowls. He says oh honey, I don't feel like eating poke bowls today. let's order pizza. You say, but it's not on my program, you know that. He says, just this one time isn't going to hurt and tomorrow you can go back on your plan. Come on. So pizza is ordered and you eat one slice. That was really good so you eat one more. I think it's more important to plan the pizza than giving in. Because then you stay in control. Look how good you are doing at the office now. Eventually it will spill over to your home life.
I stayed OP today. I walked for 58 minutes. It has begun. I got an invitation to a Christmas party. I can see alot of food related events happening in the next 6 weeks.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.0 -
@cbabie, Yikes Candy Corn is like crack for me!! I would have to get rid of that or it would be in my belly!! What are you going to do with it? Want my address? Kidding!!!

@theslightedgeforever, I bet you didn’t even miss the sweets or desserts when you saw your friend. I love brunch!!
Hubby and I did brunch on our weekend trip and I had the chicken and waffles. Big mistake because that was wayyyy more carbs than I could handle. I am still waiting for my mind to catch up to what my body can and cannot handle.
@trooword, great job at staying away from those cupcakes!! I am so proud of you! Theslightedgeforever gave you some great tips! I really like the idea of giving a bonus weekly carbs to use or not use. I just might have to give that a try! She is totally right that it’s better to plan than give in to food. Wayyyy less guilt.
Good grief its 23 degrees and only going up to 45 degrees today!
Hubby wants us to go get our flu shot and I need to return an item to Hobby Lobby but I don’t know if I want to do all that now that the Arctic has come to Georgia! Yesterday, I did my first day of 80 Day Obsession and it went great. I did have to modify some of the exercises to fit into what I’m capable of doing but I did the full hour and this morning my body isn’t screaming in pain. Today, it’s an hour of working out the booty. I might be screaming tomorrow.

Morning gals! I am on a spiral downward....hoping to catch myself today. I find I am eating more carbs than I want because I too give in to my family. Like last night, my DH cooked steak on the grill for him and my DGS...then I made baked potatoes and carrots...know what I got to eat? Baked Potato...then I filled up on PB...so I too have to get my house in order...
I have to go get ready for Bible Study group....so no time for personals..just know I am proud of each one of you and your choices and support in this group.
Cbabie0 -
Hi all,
@cbabie Hope you are doing better today. Sometimes it takes awhile. We have been back from dd's for a week & I am just starting to regain control, lol. The steak sounded good, and the baked potato, too, but I don't watch my carbs that much. You can do this!
@theslightedgeforever I love the graphic, now to remember it! You are always so helpful & full of advice. I now we parents worry about our kids, but I am sure your ds takes I-80 to Grinnell & it is usually pretty good in winter.
@TeresaW1020 Our low yesterday was around 0 & high was about 20! So you are having a heat wave! Seriously, our dd has been south for 12 yrs (first Alpharetta & now Tulsa), and she does not appreciate the cold either. I think the worst about both is that you can get so much ice instead of snow. I hate trying to drive on ice..I just can't do it. Not a big fan of snow either, it can wait until Dec 24 & be gone by Valentines, and hopefully I have had a short reprieve somewhere warm in between, lol. Yes, get your flu shot! I have had it some years despite the shot & it is not fun!
@trooworld You are doing so great on the treats at work, soon it will spill over to home, too. I need to be better when Dh suggests something to eat that is more calories than I have left. It can be so hard, because it sounds so good. One thing that maybe helps is if I go ahead & have it, I enjoy it & don't feel guilty, & try to get back to my plan as soon as possible. I don't think feeling guilty helps at all, sometimes it makes me eat more.
Not much planned for today, already did my 30 minutes on the treadmill & may do more later.
Forgot to write down by November goals, but they are walk, drink water.0 -
@teresaw1020 We could split the candy corn so we'd be helping out each other. lol So when you say waiting on the mind to catch up with the body, is that weight gain or carb symptoms or what? Yaaay on completing Day 1 of the Obsession.
@trooworld Yes I decided to go to the party. I go to bookclub every month. I can miss one. Weekly carbs: Just start somewhere and then tweak as necessary. The trick is to be satisfied cause you stayed within your "boundaries" and still lose weight. You know me, I'm still trying to eat as much as I can get away with and still lose weight. My rate of weight loss has slowed so I've been cutting calories by 50 each week on one day a week to see if that gets things moving. One week I tried increasing burned calories by 25. I'll figure it out eventually.
@cbabie You can still lose weight on baked potatoes. I once knew someone who lost weight eating kettle corn and WW fudge bars. Is your carb goal too low? Being successful everyday keeps you motivated to continue each day. We are proud of you for hanging in there when the going gets tough.
@retiredandlovingit Yes he takes the highway. He says I'm fine mom. I keep telling him to move to Grinnell so he doesn't have such a long commute everyday. He says no.
in my Diet Traps book, I've been reading about giving in to family pressure on food. This is the escape plan. Identify a future situation in which a food pusher trap might arise. Record your sabotaging thoughts. Write a compelling response to each sabotaging thought. Develop a list of strategies. Review and revise your escape plan often. There's a part in the book where the author says that we really want the food so we don't fight the food pusher very hard. The most important part is having a response ready. Visualizing how you will answer in that situation. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But keep your goal in mind. Which muscle do you want to make stronger? The giving in muscle or the resistance muscle.I'll be doing a lot of this before and during that party. Yaaay on getting on the treadmill.
I stayed OP today. Green day. Actually I was very low in carbs. Just a bit above a red day. That's how I know I'm changing because I didn't go all out and eat every last carb I could have just because I can. I had a salad tonight while the family had spaghetti. That's a shocker. I've planned the spaghetti for tomorrow lunch. I went to walking club and did 41 minutes and then did 38 min walking earlier.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.

@theslightedgeforever, good idea on saving cbabie from all that candy corn!!
I think it’s both the weight gain and the carb symptoms that I mean when I say that I’m waiting for my mind to catch up to my body. It’s like a switch that I’ll call “I know better” gets turned off and then it gets turned back on and I’m left with the consequences. Icky feelings in my body and usually weight gain. How to keep the switch from getting turned off is the question? Since I know that I’m going to want to indulge, I wonder if I should focus more on Keto indulgences that will keep me from the stuff I shouldn’t be eating. I’ve steered clear of Keto treats but maybe that is the wrong way to think about it and maybe I should use some extra weekly carbs as a reward for sticking to my plan the rest of the time. Sheesh, I’m rambling but you have this way of making me think.
@trooworld, yeah you have had this issue with breakfast, and you don’t want to fast breakfast as I do, right? What about drinking Keto coffee? Do you drink coffee? If so then you could get one of those frothers (I want one bad!) and add in some heavy cream and MCT oil, which is super filling. Also, there NO reason you need breakfast foods for breakfast. Leftover Fathead pizza microwaves beautiful and would make a tasty breakfast!
@RetiredAndLovingIt, yes, I know that the cold doesn’t compare to where you are living. I’ve lived in Indiana and Oklahoma and wouldn’t want to be back there for anything!
@cbabie, girl pull yourself back up!! I believe in you and know that you are stronger than you think.
Good morning! Yesterday, I did day 2 of 80 Day Obsession which focused on the booty and this morning my butt muscles are crying! I will probably take today off because hubby and I are going to get our flu shots after work and then while we're out I want to go to TJ Maxx and look for a charcuterie board for my Christmas party this year. They are all the rage and I can make it super Keto and still satisfy my guest. Then I have to go to Hobby Lobby and return a cookie jar that has a big chip out of it that I didn’t notice when I bought it. Weigh-in is tomorrow so today's plan is to eat Keto and keep it simple!

Hi all. Terribly sore today. Had a tmj massage then went for chiro. Been doing good. Terribly busy. Can’t wait for next week. Weight jumped up a bit this week. But that’s okay. I feel like I’m eating better. Got my head in the game since WW started new program. Now just have to find the time to workout. Lol0
-
Hi, just got the rest of my steps in for the day & leaving soon for gdaughter’s concert.
@theslightedgeforever Thanks for all the tips. Will try to remember them! I like Grinnell, but from what I’ve seen, not sure there is much “night life” for a young person, lol.
@TeresaW1020 Sorry, didn’t mean to make it a weather competition. Think I am just frustrated that winter is starting so early! But I don’t do well with heat & humidity, either. Sweat too much, lol. I need somewhere that stays about 70 all the time, I think. What is a charcuterie board?
Trying to kinda do IF. Well, eating in approximately 8 hr window by not eating after about 6pm. Think I have acid reflux which flares my asthma, so hoping not eating at night will help.0 -
@trooworld So if you hate eggs, why are you making yourself frittata. I was just curious. I like eggs but it depends on the way they are served. I won't touch a veggie omelette but love a cheese omelette. Who says it has to be breakfast foods? find something you like to eat. How about a cheesy cauliflower bowl. I'm finding that yummy for breakfast and I never could have predicted that. I only resisted the spaghetti because I needed to weigh in the following day. So I ate it for lunch.
@teresaw1020 I know all too well about the infamous switch. I've had one for years. Although I will say that since I started carb cycling it has been in the on position. I've tried visualizing a big lightswitch and manually flipping it on. That didn't work. I think following the Beck program about self-talk has helped me tremendously. It's just a matter of reinforcing and practicing the skills I've learned. Not just learning them and not doing them and later I try something new. I'm famous for chasing the shiny new toy. I'm glad I'm getting you to think. That's how we solve problems. Troubleshooting. What's your motivation for choosing the keto plan? Okay explain charcuterie board.
@renaegry Which WW color did you choose? That's great that you are eating better. That's a good goal for all of us. Enjoy life and eat better.
@retiredandlovingit I tell my son he doesn't need a nightlife as all he does when he comes home is sit and play computer games with his friends from high school. He can do that in Grinnell. lol He's probably worried the internet would be slow there. Yes, 70 degree year round temperature would be the perfect weather. Lots of fluffy clouds in blue skies. How was the concert? Since I have lost some weight, I'm not as bothered by the acid reflux which led to coughing. I don't have asthma but I have reactive airway disease. Two triggers are exercise and cold weather. But it's been alot better the past few years. So I hope the not eating after 6 will help you. I have been doing IF two days a week but this week didn't get it done because of appointments for my mil. So I'll be back at it again next week. Being a bit hungry never killed anyone.
Green day-I stayed OP with my carbs but forgot to track my 2 pieces of toast w/butter. I preplan my meals in the morning and usually don't have to go back in and track anything new because I just follow the plan. But for some reason I decided butter and bread would be a good thing to go with my spaghetti. Even better slightly toasted. When I realized it, I had already eaten dinner. I could have reduced my portions at dinner. But I still stayed within my carbs boundaries which is the most important thing and was over calories about 80 something. Oh well. We'll try again tomorrow. Exercise was rest day. Really need to work on the water. Cool weather does not make me want to drink pure water. I'll get there.
I lost 0.4 lbs this week. Told you it was going slow but the train is still moving. I haven't stopped or went in reverse for a while now. I keep tweaking.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.

Morning all, I haven't walked, gone to the park...just living live in limbo it seems. I am trying to stay on top of my eating, but I think my emotions have control...so this too soon will pass...
@trooworld veggies don't feel me up, I have to have my protein...maybe protein bars, shakes, something with low carb?
@theslightedgeforever it is what it is...
@TeresaW1020 I just love Hobby Lobby...I used to call it Holly Hobby...always thinking of the doll that was such a hit when my girls were little..LOL . I am trying to find my way...just seen too many depressing things in families this past 2 weeks...I will get there.
@RetiredAndLovingIt I should watch my carbs more than I do....I think I know what is causing my heartburn..carbs..I haven't had it in years...so watching have toooooooo...
Cbabie0 -
@trooworld What if you stepped away from keto for a bit. That happened to me with smoothies when I did the Shred Program. It's hard for me to drink a smoothie. Makes me want to gag. You made me laugh on the yogurt and berries. so I've asked Teresa but what is your motivation to do keto versus all the other plans out there? Here's an idea. How about a new program called TrooKeto. You eat keto for lunch and dinner. Then breakfast is a normal breakfast. What would you eat for breakfast if you were thin and weren't trying to lose weight. Cause your goal is to lose weight not stick to keto 100% of the time.
@cbabie Gray skies are gonna clear up.....put on a happy face.
It will get better. Sometimes we just have to push through and a bit of walking would release some endorphins into your brain that would make you feel a bit better. Hugs.
High Yellow Day- Stayed OP I get 145-164 carbs and I got 164. lol I wanted an extra 1/2 piece of banana bread. I think I need to stop buying so many bananas because they just get turned into bread. I'll only eat them on yellow and green days because of the carbs. I buy a couple of extra because I think dh will eat mine. When I buy just enough for me, he suddenly has cravings for bananas I think.
Almost didn't exercise but I told myself NO CHOICE. I did 57 minutes of walking in two different stints. I walked 30 min then told myself that I was done for the day caused I exercised. Then my brain reminded me that I'm committed to burning 300 calories on exercise days and I still needed 126 more. Sigh So out again I went and finished up my goal. I still need to get moving on that strength training twice a week and the water. 2 weeks left of November to hit these goals.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.0 -
@renaegry, I hope you are feeling better. Do you like the new direction WW has gone to? What color did you decide to go with?

@RetiredAndLovingIt, I’m frustrated too that we had like 3 days of fall before it turned cold. I also don’t like heat and humidity!
If you are not eating for at least 12 hours (6 pm until you eat breakfast) then you are definitely doing IF. I hope it helps you.
@theslightedgeforever, Good going on the weight loss!! Down is always worth a celebration!
I get lazy with my pre-tracking but since starting this new challenge with my Beachbody group, I’m challenging myself to pre-track every morning. It really does help me stick to what I should be eating. See my post below (with pic) for the charcuterie board explanation.
@trooworld, dang girl! You are going to run out of foods to eat if you keep this up.
If you do a Keto coffee then you won’t be fasting. You will have to decide which direction works best for you. Maybe since you want to ease back into IF, you can start with a Keto coffee (MCT oil, cream, or butter) and then slowly ease off the ingredients until you are drinking it black. I can’t do black coffee. I mean I can but I HATE it.
So, I use a ½ TBS of heavy cream per cup and I have two cups which is only 50 calories. It’s not a clean fast but I’m OK with it. As I said, we have to do what works for us.
@cbabie, my sister and I had a Holly Hobby room when we were little.
I went looking on Google not too long ago and found the red and yellow bedspreads that we had and sent the pic to my sister. Major blast from the past! You need to get out and walk or something. Exercise is not just for our physical health. It’s so good for our emotional health as well.
Good morning!
So my weight was up a pound yesterday. I could be really frustrated but I really think it’s this new 80 Day Obsession that I’m doing. That woman is trying to kill me!! But I love the program too and the challenge it gives me to push harder than I ever have before. I am, however, going to seriously watch what I eat and hope that next week will show a good loss.
So, the pic shows my new charcuterie board that I bought the other day at TJ Maxx. They had so many to choose from and at really great prices! This one is 24 x 18 so I can do a lot of things with it. I’m having the staff Christmas party at my house on Dec. 6th and it will be an appetizer party. I didn’t want to completely blow my eating plan, but I still wanted to enjoy lots of tasty food. Charcuterie boards are perfect for Keto! I will fill it with cured meats, cheeses, olives, pickles, nuts and of course some fruit, veggies, crackers, and other foods that all my guests will love. Pinterest has so many ideas that it's a matter of choosing what I want the most and then just going and buying all the yummy stuff. Trader Joes will definitely be at the top of the list. They have such good cheese!!

So there were a lot of questions about Canadian Thanksgiving. So I probably wasn’t clear earlier…it wasn’t that settlers travelled north, it was more the same thing that settlers from England and France came and settled on the east coast of Canada, and started celebrating harvest. So no real connection to Columbus, which is probably why ours is in October. Well that and October is just better

We call it the same- Thanksgiving, and have turkey and all, but I have never even seen a sweet potato pie. It’s not a thing here. It sounds yuck lol.
@cbabie sorry you’re having such a tough time. I remember Holly Hobby from when I was a kid. And Strawberry Shortcake.
@trooworld I get like that with meat sometimes, especially ground meat. It also happens if I’m just eating too much meat. So I try to add in some beans or tofu or something, but not sure those are keto friendly. I had a Holly Hobby garbage can for some reason. Your breakfast struggles sound like a pain. I always have a solid breakfast, but I like eggs, sausage, oatmeal etc. What about avocado is that keto? Like an avocado with cheese or something?
Have fun with your company!
Here is the link to the photos I took of the Hollywood posters. As I said, they are owned by a Metallica band member, it’s a hobby of his. So he has a guitar collection painted like movie monsters too.

@TeresaW1020 that board looks nice and I’m jealous I’m not coming to the party! Sorry you’re struggling with weight. I am too. I’m just trying to keep at it.
@theslightedgeforever, I think you’re doing fantastic with the exercises! Bananas are yummy, I buy them sometimes. I miss not having fresh fruit in the winter
In other news, things are good. I bought a carpet steam/wash cleaner thingy and vacuumed and then washed my carpets today. They look good now but I have to tell you the stuff that got pulled up in the steam cleaner was beyond gross. It’s bc of the cats. I would replace the carpets with hardwood floor but I don’t own this place and they won’t let me. So I think I have to wash them every couple of weeks for a while because the dirt has built up. But I feel good about how they came out today.
I’ve had time to exercise a bit more, but I’m back to square one with my cardio, doing less than half of what I was doing in the summer. Like in the summer I could do the stairs 5x, now I’m at 2. It’s just bc I haven’t been consistent.
I have to tell you ladies the holidays are on my mind a lot and I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid I’m just going to overindulge completely for like a solid 10 days. This has happened before lol so it’s a risk. I’m trying to come up with a plan but the biggest issue is me- part of me I just want to let go and be like it’s the one time of year when I can have no restrictions (on food or drink). But when I go down that road, I always regret it. So it’s a real battle. I guess it's good I'm thinking about it in advance.
Hope all is well.

@teresaw1020 My son was just saying the same thing about fall the other day. He said there's no such thing as 4 seasons anymore. It's just two. We had hot then cold with about 2 days of fall inbetween. lol I have to pretrack or otherwise I would just go over everyday because I like to eat. Thanks for the info on the board. I'll check out Pinterest. This would be perfect for my veggie owl. My friend loves owls and in March I was going to throw her an owl bday party. My sister and I had a blue room with walls that slanted. I think blue bedspreads too. Someone liked the color blue. lol She got the joy of me crawling into bed with her each night. Twin beds. lol I was scared. That darn Dark Shadows show.
@trooworld I'm still not convinced that ketosis is the only thing making you lose weight but less calories. I was reading an article about it last night. I've proven now over 3 1/2 months that lowering carbs will not make a person lose more weight. I always had this idea that people who do low carb lose more weight than those that eat higher carbs. Not true for me. In theory, I would expect to lose more weight on the weeks I have 4 red days. Those are just 100. Versus those weeks with only 2 red days or 3. All the other days are the same. The calories are always the same each week. Exercise is basically the same. Just walking. It didn't work the way I expected. I actually lose at higher carb. But the good thing about this program is that it has kept me consistent with eating and staying within my boundaries which I think is the key to my success. Plus it's good for my blood sugar. So if not eating breakfast will make it work for you then try that for a while. As Teresa says, we have to do what works for us.
@its_cleo I'm beginning to think that whole Columbus story we celebrate is not actually as factual as we originally thought. lol I think I've only had sweet potato pie once but Thanksgiving isn't complete without pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. Since I use my pumpkin pie puree on my pancakes right now on Fridays, I have the wonderful taste of it each week. One tablespoon is just 7 calories. It's so yummy. Now when you mentioned avacado I'm gagging. lol We all have our things we don't like. So on holiday thinking, when you just let go and have no restrictions what happens? On the other hand too many restrictions are not fun either. So we have to shoot for somewhere in the middle. I'm going to try to maintain the last two weeks of the year. It's not like you will never get to taste these foods ever again so you must eat them all everyday for 10 days. Pick and choose your favorite things. If you are doing calorie counting, decide on a number and then figure out how many cookies or fudge or drinks or whatever you like to eat during this time. On the other hand, think how good you will feel for not gaining any weight this holiday season. Come Jan 1, you won't be digging yourself out of a hole. I'm beginning to like the way my clothes are being a bit loose. I don't want to lose this over the next 6 weeks. So I'll continue to follow my plan but be adding in a bit more indulgences in that I would have. Since I'm trying to maintain, I'll add in a fourth green day and that will leave me with 2 yellow and 1 red. I have no idea if this will work. We'll see. But it's a good trial run for the day I get to my goal and really have to maintain. Plus vacation next year. I just let myself go and told myself enjoy the time. I came back 10 lbs heavier and I've had to re-lose that weight again. Second time this year. Last December I gained 10 lbs. Then again in June. I'm not doing that this year. I could be 20 lbs lighter right now had I not just let go.
Green day- Stayed in boundaries. Exercise was walking. 18+34+5=57 min.
November goals: continue following carb cycling program each day, strength training 2 times a week. 4.5 glasses of water.

@trooworld I'm glad you had fun with your friends/family. That's so important for our mental health. I did away with the carpets too because of kids and cat when we moved into this new house but I really think vaccuming is so much easier than mopping. I have a combination of stone/ceramic through most of the house but I splurged on porcelin in our entry and main living room. Mistake! Shiny tiles may be beautiful and reflect light but they are too hard to take care of. So I have decorative rugs here and there. My hubby says if I was going to cover the floor with rugs why did he spend so much on the tiles I requested. Should have just put carpet. lol
@its_cleo In my Diet Trap book lesson today, it was talking about splurging for vacations or holidays. It said to make a list of advantages and disadvantages of staying in control over the holidays. And the same list for just letting go and eating what you want to eat. Thanks for sharing the horror/guitar pics.
Yellow day- Stayed within my boundaries. Walked 67 min. Oh just realized I was supposed to do some strength training today I switched up my days thinking maybe that would be easier. Nope. I even wrote it on my schedule. oh well......I'll try again.

Morning all,
I figured out the heartburn...it was the STAX chips...so they are no more allowed by me. I have tracked 3 days in a row...went way over yesterday....I see what the issue is and trying to correct it today. I laughed..MFP said I earned 22 exercise calories yesterday!!! I guess I didn't move alot even though it felt like it.
@trooworld glad you enjoyed your night with family and friends...sounds like your back on track..Maybe you just needed a night of friends. LOL .
@theslightedgeforever I can hear your DH saying that..I hate the dog hair...of . course I am NOT an animal lover, but since we have not carpet or even throw rugs...we have lots of hair from the dogs...I want one of those shark robots..it would get run every day every hour...
@its_cleo Oh yea we had lots of strawberry shortcake stuff...I think because you are aware of your holiday indulges, you really will be more guarded on what you eat. I say baby steps, I had to HIDE the candy corn my GS brought home...one night I was really stressed and ALMOST opened it...
@TeresaW1020 I love that board...you have a plan and it sounds awesome!!

Hi all, not much time today, but wanted to check in. LOL on all the comments about Strawberry Shortcake & Holly Hobby---my girls had that stuff! (I know, I'm old, lol)
@cbabie--Interesting about STAX chips causing heartburn. Not sure my stopping nighttime eating is helping yet, but plan to keep it up.
@theslightedgeforever I think that is something to think about--letting go vs staying in control. When we were with dd last time, I way exceeded my calories, gained 3# in a week, and its taken me 2 weeks to get rid of it. I'm sure most was because of carbs, but really made me think it was not worth it, so hopefully next time I will rein it in a little.
Well, DH gets his first cataract taken care of tomorrow, so need to go vacuum (I have carpet) so I don't stir up a lot of dust while he is healing, lol.
Hope all have a good day--stay with your plans. Funny how we all have such different plans, but each of us needs to do what works for ourselves.0 -
@trooworld Your meals look good this week. I'll look into them.
@cbabie Yaaay on your tracking. It's good you got the heartburn issue figured out.
@retiredandlovingit Yeah I'm hoping to use that advantages and disadvantages list this year for the next 6 weeks and during vacation time next year. I know it just must be my mindset and "no rules"
Red day-91/100 I'm going to start posting my carbs/carb goal if I can remember. lol Stayed within boundaries. Exercise was a rest day.

Hi all, short update. Remember that picture in the summer I shared of the stairs I do and it was so nice and green and sunny? Not so nice with ice and Sunday I fell down some of them.
I'm ok just a bit sore, and banged up. A little frustrated....funny thing is in the last two weeks I was at 3 shoe stores trying to find good shoes with good grip. Had no luck. Ordered some online after I fell.
Funny thing is I just picked myself up and carried on with my routine didn't really feel it until after. My neck is pretty sore.
So I am feeling sorry for myself lol and want to curl up with a blanket and soup or something.
Thanks for the holiday tips. Right now I'm working on writing down the things I want and doing a calorie check. Knowledge is power and it helps to see the numbers as a first step.
