I stress-ate a donut and I'm full of regrets.
My weight just keeps going up. It's not fair. I tried so hard and lost so much weight and I've never been in worse health.9 -
@GroverBlue78 & @bdbjswbrb Way to go! You passed your weight goal, now just gotta make sure to maintain, if not lose more.
@amlundie Eating low carb on Thanksgiving is definitely not impossible. You seem locked in with your diet, keep it up
@bluffgirl67 ahhh you are almost to your November goal! I think I am going to steal your plank challenge for the next month. Its something that requires no special equipment and works your core. Keep it up and meet your goal!
@torihudson6 ugh I have been the same way with exercise. Been hard to get motivated. I am also a grazer AND I cook many of the Thanksgiving dishes for the fam so I am constantly tasting the food. We need to come up with a plan so that we don't feel so overwhelmed next Thursday
@stefsc1 100lbs lost, how amazing! As someone who is trying to lose 100 pounds this was very inspiring. I see it states you started your journey in April so you did that in 9 months too! I hope to have a similar post this time next year
@amkita fabulous! Losing 50lbs is such an achievement, you more than doubled your initial 20 lb goal!
We have potluck today at work, I am going to eat and log everything I eat. I won't go crazy though, I came mentally prepared. I have Friendsgiving tomorrow with friends, so another day of eating/drinking. Again, logging my stuff to not go overboard. I have been real good about not eating outside my calories. Yesterday I got pollo loco for lunch and saved leftovers for dinner. My BF called me to see if I wanted some McDonalds before he came over and I declined because I already had my food. My BF is very supportive but he also likes to treat me, which I love, but I do find myself saying no more. Just because food is offered doesn't mean I need to eat it.
When are people doing their last weigh-in? Wondering if there is something set like that last day of the month or the first day of the next month?2 -
Hi everyone! Great posts today! Everyone is doing so well!
@sharpdust We had our work pot luck yesterday. I did ok. It's amazing how many calories everything is...and other people just pile on the food...I was like oh my god! I think I went a little over what I planned and prepared to eat, but I am still ok with how I did! I brought a vegan carrot cake and I made mashed potatoes my way. But even with picking and choosing very small portions of everything else...my calories added up to about 1500! But I ate a light breakfast and small snack and drank bunches of water and walked after the meal outside my work. So overall a good day and still under with my calories (I ate my exercise calories)
@Terytha girl, it's ok...get back on track...you are doing good...peaks and valleys...drink some water and maybe take a walk and that donut will be gone before you know it. We all have times of not making good choices believe me! Make sure you are taking care of yourself too...are you on any specific plan of eating to make sure you are staying healthy? Hang in there!
@bluffgirl67 great job on your progress! I envy you and your commitment to exercise
@stefsc1 look at you…what an awesome accomplishment. Very inspirational!
@torihudson6 Get right back on that wagon…we all fall off the wagon sometimes! The key is to get back on!
@bdbjswbrb Awesome week…great losses this month!
@amlundie Great mindset for Thanksgiving! I had a pot luck at my work yesterday and there was not a single vegetable! Well, green bean casserole…but we all know what’s in that! Luckily I had some salad fixins there already. I did eat my own mashed potatoes…but I am not doing the low carb thing.
Welcome to all the new people, this is an awesome thread to be a part of and keep accountability!
Speaking of, I am having a rough time of it this month! Too many events and gatherings! I am proud of myself for not gaining weight, but not much lost either. So just doing the limbo instead of the two step! Probably not going to make my November goal especially with a 10 day trip ahead of me but the plan is to eat maintenance level and bump up activity and exercise.
My goals for November were as follows:
1. Make time to exercise – I did one workout this week…better than nothing!
2. Resist my triggers - had a little slip yesterday but still stayed under calories with eating my exercise calories…so that is big for me
3. Water consumption – drank at least 64 oz. every day! (Sometimes more )

I forgot a few...@lindamtuck2018 hope you get to feeling better...still looks like an awesome week!
@amkita 50lbs wow! Great job! I can't wait until I can say that!3 -
Happy Friday everyone! I am here with my weekly weigh in. I lost almost 2 lbs this past week! I am feeling so good about that. I have been working hard at it and making great choices, so I am proud of myself. Provided I don't go nuts on Thanksgiving, I may just be able to meet my November goal (1.6 pounds to go) I'd really love to be below 200 when we ring in the New Year, that goal may help me stay focused on my health over the holidays.
Height 5' 10"
SW: 210 lbs (11.10.19)
CW: 208.5
11/15: 208.5
11/22: 206.6
11/27:
Nov Goal: 205
GW: 165
My final Nov weigh in is going to be Wednesday, I usually do Fridays but decided that was not a great plan the day after Thanksgiving. Also, we'll be traveling and I won't have access to my scale.
It's been a wonderful Friday here, on my lunch break I went to a friend's house to meet some kittens. She is a volunteer for the animal shelter and is fostering them. They will be ready to go to new homes Christmas week and I am going to give my 4 year old daughter a kitten for Christmas! We have been wanting a housecat anyway, and my daughter has been begging me for one for a while. I thought it would be a fun Christmas present. Anyway, I didn't get my workout in because of the kitten mission, but that's okay it was worth it. I plan to try to hop on my treadmill this evening.
Have a great weekend, everyone!4 -
Potluck was great. Tons of food: Carnitas, fried chicken, lumpia, pupusas, tamales, you get the point...
I nibbled on a little of everything, made sure to log my calories. This was my first meal of the day and topped off at about 1100 calories. I try to get below 1900 a day so I still have a few calories if I get hungry later but as of now I am stuffed and don't want to eat again lol Have a great Friday night everyone!4 -
Also had a potluck day today. I feel stuffed, but logged everything eaten - twice my normal lunch calories, but dinner won't be much and I'll stay within my calorie goal for the day. The salt, alone, will likely send me up 10 pounds. I've been drinking tons of water all afternoon. Ah well, hopefully it all evens out in the end.6

SW 310.0 - Nov. 1st
CW 299.8
Week 0 - 11/01/2019 - 310.0 lbs
Week 1 - 11/08/2019 - 306.0 lbs (-4.0)
Week 2 - 11/15/2019 - 301.4 lbs (-8.6)
Week 3 - 11/22/2019 - 299.8 lbs (-10.2)
Week 4 - 11/29/2019 - Happy Thanksgiving and Birthday
Week 5 - 12/06/2019 -
Week 6 - 12/15/2019 -
Week 7 - 12/22/2019 -
Week 8 - 12/29/2019 - Merry Christmas
Week 3: I'm pleased with my stick-to-it-ness this week. I've stayed within my calorie goal range and I made my 3 weekly planned gym visits, 2 with a rip roaring headache, so that was a challenge. This last one, though, I got my HR up into the 160s at times and was red-cheeked and sweating bullets by the end, so "Yay me" I leaked fat's tears. Of course following big workouts I watch my weight jump back up, but those bumps trend down over time. Happy to be into the 200s.
Goal for next week? Log everything, try to plan for the holidays, don't let the week break me. I work Tues/Wed and am on call Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun 24/7, so will likely be living at work, anyway. This would be the perfect time for my evil alter self to play the "f'it" card, but NOT THIS TIME. I'm locked in. So there, stupid alter self.
To keep in line with my personal cheesey motivation banners, I'm sporting my white belt. It makes me look tough.

Congratulations @HurleyHurley for breaking into the 200s! Your determination is something to admire!
To the many others who've posted stories of success and frustration on this thread, I've left my cheers and hugs, but there are more than I can respond to! It's amazing how this thread has exploded this month!6 -
@bdbjswbrb I like the holiDay not holiWeek. We can ask ourselves if that extra helping of dressing, cake, pie, etc is worth backing up progress or prolonging our goals. Whatever the answer is then plan for it and keep going forward. It's just another day along the journey.
@torihudson6 Nice work on hitting the gym. I'm sure once things slow down for you three times a week will happen. Keep focusing on those weekly numbers and they will add up in the long run. It's all about baby steps and patience.
@stefsc1 I can imagine how hard it is working around food all the time. I admire your dedication and all the work you've put in to be at almost 100 pounds loss.
@CLAWSMITH Happy Anniversary!! Looking up possible meals before going out is a great strategy. Enjoy your weekend.
@amkita Congrats on losing 50lbs!! Amazing what a half hearted note became. You are doing great.
@sharpdust I'm tapped out on the challenge at 90sec bc of nerve damage in my left arm from a fall. Any longer and the pain is unbearable but I'm happy with how far I was able to go. Now I'm going to keep doing it on my strength training days. I'm sure you can go even farther. My last weigh in is scheduled for the 30th so I already know it may not be a great one bc of sodium gain and probably maintenance calories but I'm ok with that. Your potluck sounds delicious.
@mmccloy12 Thanks, I enjoy exercise and it helps with my fibromyalgia as long as I get it done early in the day before I fall apart lol. Don't stress about the Nov goal. Your still doing fine and can work on holding rather gaining if need be. It will all work out.
@HurleyHurley Great job! You're gonna karate chop evil alter self to the mat next week.6 -

After a really good week staying on track and even getting some exercise in. The scale moves in the wrong direction!! Hoping it's fluid as my ring feels tighter today. Logically I know our weight fluctuates day to day.. but cant help feeling a little disappointed. Still hoping to see 223 by the end of the month which will put me at 65 lbs lost. I hope everyone has a good week!

@Candyn617 Water weight fluctuations get me too. I weigh myself every morning, and it's kind of fascinating to see how much I can swing up and down, even when I eat the same things most weekdays. I try to be zen about it, but sometimes it's so frustrating.5
-
I am so impressed and inspired by everyone’s progress! And sending hugs to those who are struggling. I also have those water weight and hormonal fluctuations. All I can suggest is pounding the water - 96 oz- and watching sodium.i also think walking helps my system flush it out faster.
My weigh day is Wednesday morning so I will report that and also plan to do the 30th so I know where I am starting for next month. Our Thanksgiving is intense - 20 people, which is breaking down to 2 appetizers, 2 salads, 2 starchy sides, 3 veggie sides, turkey, cranberry sauce and 4 pies. And I think 2 stuffings although they should be the starchy sides technically. I’m in charge of about 5 of those. I don’t even know how to track since I don’t have all the recipes. But I’m not going to use this as an excuse for a free for all; I will probably just taste everything (including the pies) so very small portions adding up to a big meal and going back to business as usual the next day.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.7 -
My 2 vegan daughters and one vegan boyfriend are coming for Thanksgiving so we will have all vegan sides plus real Turkey and gravy. Here are the vegan sides: Mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, butternut squash au gratin, roasted Brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce, glazed carrots, crescent rolls, pumpkin pie with coconut whip. God help me. My strategy: Eat lots of turkey. The squash, carrots, and Brussels sprouts are pretty healthy. Everything else will be limited to a small taste.
If anyone needs tips on how to "veganize" these dishes, I'll share the recipe.4 -
@Candyn617 & @bdbjswbrb I usually weigh myself the 2 days before my official weekly weigh-in that I log, and sometimes the day after too, if weigh-in day is telling me something that doesn't seem right! Water weight is so pesky. I hate to miss a good low number, so I end up weighing myself 3 days a week to catch the best one! If my body can achieve the lower number I saw the day before log day, I'm going with it.6

I had the most surprising NSV today! I was taking a shower and shaving my legs and I thought I was flexing my calf muscle, but I wasn’t, it just wasn’t flabby anymore! I tested it by actually flexing the muscle and even placing my leg down off the stand to make sure I wasn’t tricking myself
My calves have really tightened up since I started my strength training program. I was so giddy. I’ve been so focused on the number not moving, it’s encouraging to see results like this that aren’t reflected in the scale.12 -
I had a major binge today. It was an all day affair. You think with the cold I would lose my appetite. No, I get hungrier and not for good food.
@torihudson6 congrats on the NVS. Awesome progress!

Been doing pretty well, going over on calories some days but always under my carb goal which is my priority. Weight has been coming down every morning so I must be doing ok :-)
FYI : Went to olive garden last night to celebrate my daughter's bday, had the zoodle primavera with grilled chicken, it was delicious, highly recommend!!!6 -
@amlundie I am jealous. There is no Olive Garden in southwestern Ontario that I know of. Great job on the weight trending down.2
-
Well, I ended up gaining 1.5 pounds this week apparently. I felt like I had lost, so maybe it was water retention, not sure. My new goal for the rest of the year will be to maintain. I feel like that will be challenging enough with all of the potlucks and holiday parties and people bringing goodies into the office every day! If I do lose, I will consider it a bonus!6
