My cold has spread to my DH. And dogs have stomach issues today too! Think it turned to a sinus infection for me. Gah! I hate cold season!

My ex SIL's memorial service was packed, people standing in the back, there were around 250 people there. He was a great guy when sober but a mean abusive alcoholic and the alcohol killed him, he was only 49. I ended up with eight overnight guests, two more than expected, so one couple slept on an air mattress on the floor. I welcome my peace and quiet routine back this morning. Glad to get back to laundry and workout today.
My cold is finally on the way out, now just a nuisance but at least I'm not down and out.
Love you my friends,

I listen to "Savor" (about food and its history), "Happier" (Gretchen Rubin), "10% Happier" (Dan Harris), "Spilled Milk" (sort of about food, but mostly comedy). I check out audio books from the library and am currently listening to the most recent book by J.A. Jance,
Barbie from NW WA
Thank you for the other podcast suggestions! Yes I love my library! Audio books are easy and free to download. Also just walked the dog 2 miles to and from library to drop off a physical book while listening to the audio book.3 -
Welcome to the new ladies!
Cold kept me home from work today. Just lying low and drinking lots of fluids so it doesn't get worse.

Yes I fainted last Sunday a week ago and felt woozy last night and this morning. I had plenty of food and water, and my heart checked out fine. I have a little sniffle cold. My workouts are not new. And I am sure I am not pregnant lol! I don't know what it could be, but if it doesn't pass, I will see a doctor.8

Annie-Sorry you fainted and hope it does pass. But I agree with you,if it doesn’t,go to your doctor.Im not a fan of the medical profession but there are times when you must see someone.
Michele-when we have fresh apples in the fall,I love making pies.I half peel and pare cook my apples on the stove before putting them in the crust.Years ago I made my very first one.Came out beautiful, cut into it and the apples had cooked down leaving a pocket of space between them and the crust.Tasted great, but the look I was going for.
Took down Christmas trees and decorations today.Left me feeling kinda empty and very sad.I always get a Little down, but this time just feels So 😩.I don’t know why...My first day Alone since Christmas Eve and 3 months away from the farm.Im sure I’ll go with my guys to work a few days,as I am the owner’of our little contracting company.Prayers, hugs, much love ❤️,and gratitude for y’all.

Were you standing in one place or for a long period (blood pooling in feet), dehydrated, stressed? All of these lead me to have issues. Testing showed that my heart was fine. Cardiologist did a "tilt test" and it turned out I have vasovagal syncope ... any one of these three triggers causes my heart rate and blood pressure to drop suddenly.
I'm not on any meds but the recommendations from the doctor were to ensure I drink plenty of water 64-80oz per day and walk at least 30 min per day. Of course reducing stress and standing when I have to are hard to tackle ... that takes a little more focus! I do have to be careful with decongestants ... they cause dizziness or racing heart.
Good luck!4 -

Is there somewhere you can get blood pressured checked. Low blood pressure can make you feel faint too.4 -
Phew, I am DONE! A good day, but I am knackered.
We took them home on the bus, buying fabulous snacks on the way from my very favourite bread shop. After a short while the au pair arrived back from Spain. She was soaked through from a sudden shower, but gamely dumped her suitcase and set about playing with the kids. What a trooper! We left soon afterwards.
I'm sure they had a wonderful time. The paper plane making was a huge success.
Now I'm relaxing with a good evening's tv ahead. Midsomer Murders etc.
Welcome Lily and others. Balancing a social life and keeping weight down is a challenge for sure, I choose exercise as the way to do it, but today was impossible. A bit of walking but nothing near the necessary. Still, we did a good job.

Barbara: Thank you for the sympathy for my knee situation. It won’t ever be the same as before I injured it, but most of the time it doesn’t worry me or cause pain. Once in a while it gets grumpy. Climbing stairs in my home is not worrisome, nor is walking in my neighborhood. Yoga has been wonderful at helping me become flexible and strong. When I ride a horse I sit the trot and do not post. My backside can take a bit of pounding without causing any damage. I have no plans or desire to climb mountains. :noway:
Kylia: Great job with your youngest and the trip to Detroit. I’ll bet she feels great knowing that you trusted her to drive to Detroit, and that you are proud of the woman she has become. :flowerforyou:
Heather: You are a wonderful grandmother. I envy your close proximity to your grandchildren. Mine are far away. Luckily we can use facetime on the phone to see one another and stay in touch.
Machka: Your photos of Tasmania are glorious. I always admire the beauty that I see in them.
Lanette: It is raining here, too, but we don’t currently have flood warnings. So far, so good. :flowerforyou:
Rita: I hope you, your DH & the dogs all feel better soon.
Janetr: I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better.
(((Annie))): I hope you’re feeling better.
I just got home from a an exceptionally good yoga class. There were a few friends who were there that I hadn’t seen in a very long while. The class was great and catching up with old friends afterward afterwards was really the icing on the cake.

@fanncy0626 How can I go through them and contest? I did buy it through a Visa card? I think the laws may be different from country to country on that. That would be great if it worked.
@SuziQ113 fun for the flash of red
@FunUsername Welcome!
@trucker743 I didn't know there were some guys here. Welcome to them too. Nice picture !!
@Machka Thank goodness there are many comfy work options these days (flats, etc), but it sounds like sweats etc, are better for you. In the usa many people don't dress for work. I was stunned to see my niece wore pyjamas to a telemarketing job. but apparently that is/was done. LOL.
@exermom, Vince is right. Lesson learned. I don't usually toss right out but I wasn't thinking. It sounds like no planning is ideal if people are not dependable. If they show up you could always find a quick take away or bite out or solutions like that.
more skimming today after a few days of reading all and writing lots of "personal" messages.
Back to work day. lots of unexpected mails etc to deal with.
about 3h correcting papers (expected). 20 min on stationary bike About 30 min weight training. I hadn't done weight training in a while and I like it. I put very light weights, especially for arms. legs and abs are more medium light. It was nice to go to the gym after 3h of correcting papers. I couldn't bring myself to correct papers at home so I went to the café again and again got a "thé gourmand" : tea, plus 3 tiny desserts (about 1/4 cup each: fruit salad, creme caramel and chocolate mousse. It really hits the spot with the small quantities.
I didn't track all well yesterday at the end of the day and had to go back and do from memory. Went over by about 400 or so.
Lots of complicated work stuff to deal with. the strikes have made it more complicated. About 1200 net since Jan 1.
Very slight deficit average it looks like.

Levi Matthew was born at 9:59 a.m., weighed 8 lbs 13 oz., and is 19.5 inches long. 4th grandbaby, second grandson and (per my daughter), the last one she plans to supply. He's her 3rd, and she's done...

Congrats Lisa! I've lost a grandchild somewhere.....I knew this was your daughters 3rd, where does the 4th come in? How have I forgotten a little one? Shame on me!

Okie - my other granddaughter is the one I've never met and probably never will - a little girl, nearly 6 years old now, born of a one-night stand on my son's part (paternity tests and DNA-confirmed). She lives somewhere in Wisconsin, and the mother is pathologically angry with my son and will have nothing to do with him, while taking him for every dollar she can get.
Freely admitted, I'm biased... but he sent me the screenshot of the text where she told him that she would keep working as a waitress until Ellie turns 18, just so he has to pay as much money (from his military disability) as she can possibly get from him. The woman has a master's degree... Gah. Not useful to ponder on it...
My son won't fight it, for his own reasons, and I stay away from it as it's anger without any possibility of resolution, so don't discuss it much. And I don't ache after Ellie - I can't ache for something I've never had, and I learned long ago, you do not have to love someone simply because they share your DNA. Someday, if she shows up on her own, she'll be welcome.

Sweats are too scratchy for me ... for my skin, material needs to be very smooth and relatively cool.
And by comfy work options, I mean ... for example, today I'm wearing a white cotton T-shirt, Target shorts (as in the photo below) and a loose, knee-length, sleeveless dress over top. When I get home, I'll stay in the shorts, but replace everything else with a tank top.

Lisa Levi Matthew is adorable! A grand entrance into the world. - I love your word for 2020. It seems like a good word for every year! It was exciting to read about what it means. I found myself nodding my head and saying yes! yes! as I was reading.
(((Kylia)))
NYKAREN Your last couple of posts are so inspiring. You have decided on small mindful changes that will significantly change the end of your day. Excellent.
Heather I love hearing your adventures involving the grandchildren. Starting tomorrow Grandpa is going to take over my Tuesday/Thursday activities with my oldest grandson, and my partner & I are going to start taking care of baby Lilliana those days. So I will be learning coach MWF and care for baby Lilly TTh. Work on Sundays. Chores & swim meets (granddaughter) Saturdays. Busy busy busy.

@fanncy0626 ill look into it. online I saw that for visa infinite whereas I have gold. but why not try?1

Lisa -congratulations on Levi-he is gorgeous!
Julie -good job fitting exercise in with the work day. Grading can be draining and doing it in too long a stretch used to make me lose my critical eye.
Work went well today. Was able to leave a bit after 4:30 and get a workout in at gym and then go to visitation for staff members mother. Arms a bit sore after weights (shows I've been away from them). Nothing hurts, I can just tell I worked out.
After I got home my face started itching like crazy. No idea why. Had another spell of this a few days ago, but not as severe. Haven't ate anything different. Going to take a benadryl to ease it off. That probably will also help my stuffy nose and ensure a good night's sleep.
Sorry to hear so many have been hit with the cold/flu or whatever it is going around. Saw on the news where there is a new virus hitting China. Staff at work continue to get sick. In addition to the respiratory thing, lots of step throat also. We are telling people with fevers to stay home-I hope they listen.
Off to get some rest.

@ JRsLateinlifemom Amber- Congratulations! You recognize why you feel like munching. Don't do it unless you have the calories left. Think of something else you could do.....dance to a song, do some jumping jacks, drink some water, have some hot tea, or if calories allow pop some popcorn (low calorie and fiber) I too am munchy tonight, but mine is still low on calories but high on sugars. Nothing sounds good....can't decide if it is sweet, salty, crunchy, or chocolate, so choosing nothing.
It sucks when our children leave even as adults. YOU can do this!

My son texted me last night, (noon tomorrow for him).
"I'm so sorry for not keeping in contact with you guys. I don't know how much this will mean but I'm just so sorry. Time just runs on by, days turn to months in a blink, and the next thing I know it's been way too long. Honestly I've been scared of just what to say, what you'd say, and...I don't know. I need to accept though that ignoring people isn't the answer to a problem, especially family. I'm also incredibly sorry because for some reason my phone isn't letting me call. I love you, mom, and I really do hope you haven't thought otherwise."
He's such a sweet, young adult.
This was my response to him:
"Awe son, its never too long. We understand, really, we know life can just happen. We love you. If there is anything that is a 100% guarantee, its that we love you and always will. Sometimes I think its just been a bit of honest growth that needs to happen.. I mean you have always had us, to get and do, for you. So now that you are a man, that you can get and do perfectly fine on your own, that can be a liberating thing. Time needs to happen in order to miss us maybe. But know this son, we shall love you always."
So correspondence has started!💖. Sometimes a kid just waits too long, and doesn't know how to start back up. I compare it to forgetting to send a thank you card. Then pretty soon you avoid the friend you forgot to say thank you to. Poor kid, I don't know if his division Chief made him see the light, or maybe one of my letters got thru. Its not important.💖. He still needs to organize his phone situation. Until then he agreed to a once a month text to us.
We texted his whole lunch hour, it was free and easy conversation. Like we hadn't been gone. I sent him Lego pics from his older brother, and Athena videos. He sounded relieved like I would've gotten mad at the situation! I was too happy to be mad, just relieved it wasn't anything serious. My mind and dreams went to some dark places!
Watched that Mr. Rogers movie with the eldest son yesterday afternoon at the on base theater. $5 tickets. Standing for the National Anthem before the movie. Nice mental reset. A lot of sailors standing ramrod straight. Makes me proud.
Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers was interesting. His moments while he was filming was creepy. There was a certain quietness Mr. Rogers had and Tom Hanks didn't have it! The best part was the real Fred Rogers to sing and talk in the credits. Afterwards we tried a new Mexican Restaurant. YUmm!
Today I received my first Dear John letter. A pen pal wrote me staying because of differences in our political views, she would have to end our correspondence. She stated my political views and hers were polar opposite and since that shaped our values she couldn't be friends. We had never even discussed our political or religious views, ( both subjects I avoid). So because I some times do post very tame political views on my own Facebook page, she has decided it taints my whole view about life. I think friendships are multifaceted. I can respect a person's different views and just agree to disagree. She couldn't I guess. Her loss. We had corresponded since August.
