Wife went to bed early, guess she forgot I was going to dreadmill. Well, no way I am waking her up for that. Ah well, tomorrow maybe!9

@eleanorhawkins Glad you are feeling better. My husband worries I am going to die running too anytime he hears about something happening to someone in the act of exercising.
I got in 4.5 today. I never know with being on call how much I will be able to do. I plan to try to get in 6 tomorrow, even if I have to break it up to fit around everything else.
@marisap2010 thank you!
And thank you to everyone else who has been so kind to me directly. I’ve had a hard time keeping
up.
Anybody have any ideas about the legs burning while running?
I thought I needed new shoes so i replaces them but alas .... ☹️
When i got home I felt bad for Buzz so I took him out. We went for a little while and he eventually started to get into rhythm with me. I think I should get him a harness - I don’t like the leash pulling his collar against his throat. He did pretty well, marked his spot a bunch, and I ended the day with about ten miles. Still not sixteen, but I have less to do next Saturday so here’s to the 16 miles at that point!5 -
Haven't been participating (tho I lurk a lot), but I wanted to drop in and give a plug to the Revel Kulia 1/2 marathon race. This starts at 1700 foot elevation above Waikoloa Village on Big Island, and ends at sea level at Waikoloa Resorts. The marathon starts another 13 miles up the mountain (Mauna Kea)....for a total (FAST) downhill course. It is a Boston Qualifying course.
This was really well organized: busses took us from the finish area (with free parking) up to the start. There were aid stations every 2 miles with water/gatorade/gels and portajohns. Everything was marked well and monitors were on the course to guide the way.
At the finish line there was the usual iced water, chocolate milk, fruit, pizza....and ice COLD FACE CLOTHS! (Never seen such a thing, but since this run ended in a lava desert....it was a fabulous idea.
In short, if you're looking for a destination run, and hoping to BQ, this may be it.
I went. I moved. I finished.

It's been a week since my last run. This morning I told myself I was going to do a run no matter what, so despite being short on time I went out and ran a 5km build-up - 2km MP, 1km HMP, and then speeding up to around 5km pace before cooldown.
Well it went great. The Nikes are catching me in the front of my ankles, but besides that they are awesome. I still don't know if my newfound speed is me or the shoes, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.I went. I moved. I finished.
@Avidkeo That sounds like a difficult situation. Good luck.6 -
@ContraryMaryMary and @Avidkeo I think they should have both options available. I personally like the high waisted clothing better. I have wide hips, so the hip huggers just make me feel huge. But, then again, if they fit in the waist, they are too tight in the hips. The fashion police should understand that people like different things and have options rather than forcing a fashion trend.6

January Total: 98k
January Goal: 135k
Cloudy, 20 degrees F, with a little light snow and a northwest wind. Wind was not nearly as bad as I feared it would be. Most of yesterday's slush had frozen, so the footing was pretty good. Thought about an ice beard picture, but my beard is now long enough and white enough that it's hard to tell where the beard stops and the ice starts.
@HonuNui Good to see you back. If...
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles

Sounds like a trying time for many and great one for others. Let's hope we can spread the joy a little. Back home, tired, ready to start again tomorrow and a friend needs help with his car first thing. I am getting sorely tempted to cut off all ties in RL until these people can actually get through a day without needing something from me.

Hi there, sickos! I see I’m not the only one who’s been hit by the plague/gunk/crud the last couple of weeks. I hope everyone is recovering, or is able to take the time they need to rest so they recover more quickly. I’ve been off the running train for two weeks and am trying not to let that get me too down in the dumps. I’m planning on a short run to the gym tomorrow and hoping to rebuild over the rest of the month. Losing a week of work and two weeks of workouts wasn’t exactly how I’d hoped to start the decade, but so it goes.
@eleanorhawkins and @katharmonic: I’m so sorry to hear about your losses. I’m 5-6 pages of posts behind right now, so as usual, hugs, congratulations, and condolences as appropriate.7 -
Hey y'all! I did something new today! I went for a run! 7 miles in 9 degrees!16
-
@MegaMooseEsq Glad you are feeling some better. Hope your run tomorrow goes well.
@PastorVincent Yeah!!!! And in that weather, too. Those of you who run in the really, really cold temperatures amaze me.
I did my planned 4 miles on the treadmill today because the wind chills were in the teens. I try to do my "long" runs for the week at an easy pace. Today, that wound up being 11:11/mile. I'm very happy with that. With the warm up and cool down walks, I traversed 5.0 miles.

Easy treadmill running today. No better, no worse on the SI joint issue. I'm going to see if I can get a referral to go back to my PT this week.9 -

Today's run was not the best. It started out ok, but I just got slower as I went. I usually run 10 miles on Sundays but today I took the short loop at the park and cut the run to 9.3. The weather was really nice and I feel like I am finally over my cold so I don't know why this run was such a struggle. I guess they can't all be awesome runs. I do need new shoes and I think that may be part of the problem. I ordered new shoes today so they should be here on Wednesday.

Hey all.
No run as yet. Had a late night, followed by an early morning (all working) then a long drive to visit my mum for a week.
Was unable to get a run in this morning, but I will go out very very soon.
I really need the run after sitting in the car for 6 hrs7 -
Ran. Kept my streak alive. Now just want to sleep.

@LoveyChar you’re perfect! Good job! So so so proud of you!
@PastorVincent you never cease to amaze! So glad you’re feeling better!
@TheMrWobbly - totally know how that feels.
Fiancé’s birthday was a success! Just one more birthday in January then I’m off the hook til Valentine’s Day! I know, that sounds terrible, but I’ve got Christmas, birthday, birthday - and i can’t keep up! My son’s birthday is Wednesday and of course, for that I am pretty excited. He’s getting older so the things he wants are getting more expensive, so I explained today the concept of quality vs quantity. It won’t be a big spread like in years past because he didn’t ask for a bunch of cheap toys.
He actually asked for a really nice pair of Nike Jordan’s and I actually wanted to bring him over to the Salomon way of life, lol. Get that boy running! Hahaha Nike is really upping their game and I may want to check them out for road runners in the future.
Anyway. Plan is to run again Tuesday evening with my daughter and dog (we’ll see how that goes). I’m hoping the legs and feet don’t hurt again. It really really probably is the shoes. Maybe some Hokas. Or Asics. I don’t know - just something so my legs and feet aren’t burning 😩7
