Rochelle, welcome. Most of us use the free version of MFP and love this thread as much as the food and exercise features. You will find a lot in common with others here. I hope you keep coming back.

Hello everyone! I can't believe we are starting Feb.. where did Jan. go? Well, I am sitting here scrolling thru FB and reading MFP as I didn't sleep well last night. For some reason I went over my past relationships and saw only bad choices my entire life. I have 3 WONDERFUL sons to show 19 yrs. of marriage but that didn't last. I have had breakfast and going to head over to the gym for my weigh-in and some exercising. It's a new month with a new attitude!!!I even signed up for doing a 5k/1k in March so I better get moving.
Have a great day and sorry about venting but I had to let it out somewhere.

Hi Ladies, back again...
Sue - Happy Belated Birthday! Are you getting washed away up there? Just got back from my walk, it's really coming down. We received another inch since yesterday evening. Old Farmer's Almanac said Pacific NW weather would be "wet or worse" this winter. Yikes!
Rebecca - I forgot to mention, your salad looks great!!! You rock! Are you doing your IF 2 meals? I'm generally 2 meals plus snack, tho I'm still trying to figure out when to have my snack so it doesn't interfere with my supper. Seems like rolling it into my breakfast/lunch combo works best. I guess it can take a few months to develop a good routine.
Amber, thank you for all of your posts regarding the Coronavirus. Someone online suggested it's time to reread "The Stand" by Stephen King. Think I will. Spoiler: Rori - the survivors will meet in Boulder for a final show-down between good and evil. Be on the lookout for creepy people, lol.
Cheri - no kidding, lol. No fair that guys can just stop eating and don't seem to get "hangry".
Kim - I finally made it out to do some pruning, got a good start on 2 little apple trees this past week. Discovered those 2 (Hudson's Golden Gem and Chehalis) are pretty diseased, likely anthracnose or virus from trunk wounds - mowing, rabbits. And the Pacific NorthWET conditions. Hopefully removing some of the larger diseased branches will give us another year or two of apples-those trees are only 10 years old at the max. The Gravenstein seems to be OK, it's on higher ground that drains better.
Not ready to do any seed starting yet, the greenhouse has become firewood storage for now anyhow. What a relief to have withdrawn from the Master Gardener Demo Garden "Manager" position. When I took it I thought another gal was going to share the job, she backed out after I accepted. I'm sure they'll find someone else who can give 100% to it. Maybe I'm really done with MG's - I'm the last one left from my 2010 training class. The thrill is going, lol.
Tomorrow is Superbowl Sunday for the US football fans. Guess I'm rooting for Kansas City since I like their cute Quarterback Pat Mahomes, lol, and he kind of reminds me of the Seattle Seahawk's Russell Wilson. We might tune in at least for the last quarter of the game. I want to see the "Puppy Bowl".
Time to haul in some firewood, looks like a break in the monsoon right now.

Heather: My BFF from school days and I went our separate ways in college. She was the maid of honor at my wedding, and I didn’t see her after that for many years. When our high school 50th reunion came along I tracked her down. She didn’t go to the reunion, but we met at a restaurant for lunch. It was great seeing her. I was surprised at how heavy she was. She used a mobility device, as does my husband. Her need was because of her weight. DH”s is caused by MS. After that meeting and meal she had some very bad things happen in her life. He daughter was killed in a car accident, and she fell into a deep depression. She moved into a nursing home. I haven’t heard anything in a long time. She doesn’t communicate with me.
Viv: It is good to see your post.
Heather: I like your quotation, ”I’m going to make the rest of my life the best of my life.” :flowerforyou:
(((Karen in VA))) I’ve found that, in life, we are who we are and we’re stuck with it. We don’t have the option to be someone else. We have to woman up and do the best we can. I think you’re doing a fine job of that.
Barbara in S Oregon: Sorry you had a dreadful nightmare. I hope you sleep better tonight.
Rochelle from Portland, OR: I haven’t paid the fees here and everything still works for me, so far. I live just down the river from Portland in Columbia County. :flowerforyou:
RVRita: WOW! You have achieved so many goals. Congratulations!
We’re on a quest to replace our kitchen faucet and hot tap. So far we’ve been to three “homeowner hell” stores without finding what we want. DH is now looking online.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE!!!! :drinker:
Went for my bonus 5k run. It was blowing a gale on the way home and the storm clouds were gathering behind us. Sun over the brown, crashing sea and acrobatic wind surfers keeping us entertained. Fabulous.
We unexpectedly met DDIL with Max and friends on the prom. They went off to buy Marrocco ice creams while we dutifully continued our run. Passed them on the way back guzzling them inside the café window. It didn't rain after all.
It was hard work after a sleepless night, but I've had a recovery nap.
Made a chicken, lentil, potato and spinach curry, which is currently cooking in the IP. Should be enough for two days.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Terri Oh that burns me that your sister-in-law effectively cut you off from your brother. My mom's sister-in-law did that to my mom & her only brother (Uncle Wes) years ago, and my lovely but spineless uncle kowtowed to Aunt Meg. So silly, because the only means of communication were mail & long distance phone calls & they lived in Idaho while my family lived in Nebraska, so there was no threat that we'd intrude in their lives. We did see them, but the visits were carefully dictated & overseen by my controlling aunt.
Beth Tragic about what has happened to your hearing. Do you have any options that seem hopeful? I have minor high frequency hearing loss that drives me crazy, so I can't imagine what you experience. My partner has very acute hearing - an ENT that she saw for some balance issues told me never to mutter under my breath because she would hear what I said.
Barbara AHMOD So terribly sad about your BFF dying. I sometimes feel as if mine did, too. I will certainly think about what everyone is saying about TeleConnie (her nickname). Maybe everyone has made excuses for her for too long. She was able stop spreading her husband's family's business after he confronted her a few times about it. I suppose people put up with it because she & her husband are a friendly, dynamic, civic-minded, locally philanthropic couple who generously open their home for all sorts of parties & meetings & visitors. Concerning the cauld grue left from your dreadful nightmare, I do hope it has completely dissipated in the light & warmth by now.
>>>
Because of several of you, this morning I have a lot more insight into my BFFs reaction & behavior, & at least for the moment, that panicky feeling is gone. It's making more sense. I think I've been a bit dense. I'm musing about what to do with my dawning clarity. It's been so many years…more than 15. I feel as if I have been to a really wise, insightful therapist who has finally helped me gain clarity. I feel less vulnerable. Maybe I will send her a note and see what happens.
I feel as if my mother is smiling.
I'll give it a few days.
Thank you.

Hello ladies!
I joined this thread a year ago, but life happened, and I had no time for communication.
I would love to join back in for fellowship and support.
I am 57 years old (shocking), married 26 years and have 3 grown children.
My oldest graduated with her Master's in Applied Behavior Analysis and works as the Director of Behavior for a school for children with autism.
My middle daughter graduated in December with a degree in Health Care coordination. She is working at a pain clinic, but looking for that Coordinator position.
My youngest is in college to become a geologist, at least that is the plan this semester.
I an a high school math teacher, I teach at a Title One school, which can be challenging.
My goal for 2020 is to lose this last 8 pounds then maintain. I have 40 year high school reunion this fall, my daughter will be getting engaged soon and there will summer vacation at the beach, etc. I don't want to panic diet as each of these events approach. I want to be at my goal weight and stay there!
Thank you for including me, and I look forward to supporting and getting to know you all again.11 -
Hallo Lynn! Welcome to the thread! Remember to sign off with your name each time with an approximate location. Sounds like you are pretty much on track. I don't think anyone stays at goal completely. We wander about a bit and then try to stabilise. Your family sounds amazing. Well done your kids!
I am 70, which amazes me. My goal is to stay active, which I am managing at the moment. I love to eat lots of delicious, healthy food, so I burn lots of calories every day to enable that. Everybody has a different system, but the best diet is the one that works for you.
Greetings again, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
Just a meme for Katla's message to Karen, which obviously resonated for me.

Reading this thread has inspired me! I am a couple of pounds less than I was at the start of January. At first I was disappointed and wished for a bigger loss for the effort I put in. At the start of February I am moving forward hoping for another two pound loss. I realize I create goals that are too ambitious and set myself up to fail.8

Just been watching a repeat of Rick Stein's Long Weekend, set in Bordeaux, France.
We have decided to take a trip there for DH's 75th in October. I noted down the restaurants etc. Oh how nostalgic I felt for my old trips to France. We can fly from our nearest airport, Gatwick.
Joy!

People with knee pain and stuff like that, look into kinesiology tape. I can't live without it.5

Marianne WV: Congratulations on raising three fine sons.
Sue: Happy Birthday!!! I’ve missed seeing your posts. I hope you are doing well.
Lanette: Pacific North Wet is aptly named where I live. Thanks for putting a smile on my face. The Clydesdale commercial is my only motivation for watching the Super Bowl. I don’t think Budweiser is planning to show them in a commercial this year. :ohwell:
Rochelle AKA macdonaldpdx: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
Lisa: I love the meme. It is right on target. Thanks for posting.
LynnJ9: Welcome to a great group. Post often.
Today is 2666 for me on MFP. I am so glad I found it, and the wonderful women who participate in Women 50+.

Welcome Newbies!
Sue Happiest of belated Birthdays!! Sorry, I forgot to wish you a happy birthday when I read it the other day...I have been bad about trying to remember things instead of taking notes. I should know better! No memory after brain injury!
Regarding the comments on my rough day:
Margaret I'm pretty sure it's MFP...Heather and I couldn't get messages to each other either.
So impressed with how well people did in January. I am still waiting for the pounds to fall off, but I have heard the last 10 are the toughest. Not ready to cut calories back yet. Still feeling too hungry!
