HeatherUK- our home is also mainly wood. Any changes are difficult for us to make together. I want a new couch for living room. We can't agree on anything! The funny thing is, he rarely sits in there-grumble. We have oak cabinets in kitchen that I want changed. I think the change may just be hardware added. I will try to find just a couple of options then present them to my husband. I will say that after Sara passes (my senior dog), we ARE getting new carpet throughout. Most of the carpets are from 1990s. They are past due! That will be a fun decision. I know not too light and not too dark. I probably ought to start looking now
Ginny-you aren't kidding about the expense of insurance! It is really bad as a really small business. We looked at HSA plans as money saving for company, but it didn't save much for us. We are traditional too. Your comment about age difference made sense to me.

Will take the Power Hour class today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a downloadable spinning workout.
M – please take care of yourself. Get better fast
I portioned out my Cheerios last night but found out that I really shouldn’t do that down here. Even one day and they are a bit soggy. Not so bad that I can’t eat them.
Tracey – after Rodger acknowledges that you were right, does he at least try to change his diet? Vince doesn’t. He keeps eating the same old thing only it has to be from a different batch, etc. He doesn’t know that many times it isn’t, I just tell him it is.
Kylia – in some ways it seems when I’m down here I’m almost constantly busy. Vince likes to stay home and relax. To him, that’s a good vacation. I like to experience new things
Viv – do you know that we have a small piece of baseboard that came off in the kitchen quite a few years ago and it’s STILL not put back. You have no idea how many times I’ve mentioned it to Vince. It probably would only take 5 minutes to glue it back, but it STILL isn’t done. Most of the flooring in our house is light wood. I wish I could find a cleaner that would repel water marks for a long time. Lovely flooring
Allie – I repeat…doesn’t Dan have two feet????? If you keep dropping him off/picking him up, where is the incentive to get a new car?
Sue – this is the first time in a long, long, long time that we’ve been on city water. For over 30 years we’ve had a well. It’s such a good feeling to take a shower and the water pressure doesn’t change if you have the washer/dishwasher going at the same time.
I forgot how much I sweat down here. I know it’s because of the humidity. So I’m going to take two water bottles with me to exercise today
Oh, Vince is going to see if they need a sub for the bowling here. I hope they do, it'll make him feel good. While he's bowling, I'll probably bowl a few games myself.
Later ladies.
Michele in FL who will lay I the sun later. I REFUSE to go home white

Oh, I was right. A rocket did go up the other night. There was a headline in the paper yesterday "did it go up". It was scheduled to go up around 11, which is around the time I heard it. It went up too late to make the deadline.

Try putting your portioned Cheerios in the fridge. It should keep them from getting stale. Either that or toss all the portioned bags into a Tupperware bowl.
On showers with a well, We don't have that problem because we have a large holding tank. We can shower while doing laundry and running the dishwasher with no problems. We added the holding tank after we bought the house. Best money we ever spent!

Allie- I agree with Michele. Dan is an adult. He makes his life's choices. It seems to me that if you keep making the consequences easier, he isn't going to change. Maybe there are more circumstances that we are unaware of, but enabling bad choices doesn't seem to be ideal for you or him. Our granddaughter (16) missed the bus twice coming home (too busy with boyfriend to pay attention I am sure) The second time, daddy told her she walks if there is a next time. She is a little over a mile from home so not really an issue, but boundary set. Hugs as you deal with son and work.

Well he will be out of luck next week when I go on vacation.unless he has something worked out.. he is not using my car..and I have a feeling he thinks he will stay at my place e while I'm gone as it's right across the road from work...nope not going to let him do that either.5

Kylia I hope you're not coming down with something! I was thinking about Sue's hot water heater situation and your comment on recovery time. We really like our tankless hot water heater. The initial outlay for Sue would be considerably more, but in the long run, it's hard to beat a propane tankless hot water heater, especially if combined with a recirculating pump. The hot water is always hot, instant, & endless, and there is no recovery time. Ours has paid for itself via energy efficiency and water saved.
VivUK VERY pretty flooring! It looks perfect! What is installed in the toe kicks? It's intriguing.
Heather I'm envious of people that can DYI-decorate-on-a-dime. I know a woman in Charlottesville, a ceramics/pottery artist, whose house is whimsical & charming due to her creative talent. (Big sigh.)
NYKAREN Your prepared dinners & Star Trek plans with your husband will chase those wet grey days away! We have wet grayness here to, which we are planning to dispel with our sunny Lilliana!
Irish Terri Duvet Day! Sounds lovely. Would love to see some of your old skating photos.

Lilly won't be here for a couple of hours so I'm off to get all my chores out of the way! xoxo

Heather: My doctor suggested a daily glass of red wine. I had one yesterday. I don’t plan to have one on a daily basis. Too easy to over do it.
Karen in VA: The only postpartum misery I remember was extremely sore breasts from mastitis. I managed that with help from the ob-gyn. My mom knew nothing about breast feeding, but she came and stayed with us and took care of our son when DH & I both came down with a nasty flu. When we were well enough she went home and came down with the same nasty flu. Ah, the good old days. . ..
Pip: We have a wool rug with a similar design as the one your sweet pup is resting on.
A plumber came to install our new faucets in the kitchen. His price quote was exorbitant, so DH sent him away. He plans to do it himself. He has the skill but I worry about his strength and agility. I plan to give him the help I can. If we need to hire someone, we will. Plumbers are more expensive than I ever imagined. :noway: I have a city meeting this evening. I’ve read all the materials and will review them again before I go.

Running behind again. Took a break from the computer over the weekend and haven't had time to catch up - I'll do it later.
I start my new position at work on Monday . It's a little different than we originally talked about but it will still be a good thing, I think. I'm a little nervous as it involves some things I've never done before, so I'm going into it on a trial basis. If I decide I like it and want to do it then we'll make it permanent. If not, I can go back to my current job. But right now, I need to get caught up on my current job. I'll be doing both for a while (or at least parts of my current job along with learning the new one), so it's going to be a busy time.
I'll check back in later.

"Todo"s and "done"Done: BB&B, recycling x 2
Bonus: one load laundry
ToDo: invest 10 mins cleaning Living Room, carry over 10 mins cleaning Master Bth, GuestBth, call Pat, Line Dance, schedule DEXA scan with CHN, Tomorrow: dog group, get M$oft login fixed, install iCloud for Win 10, Shadow to Mini Pet Mart to shop for crate, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, bake bran muffins, call Carolyn D. Next week get Shingrix vaccine. Reward: inventory seeds, plan garden, order replenishments.
“No Service” rantAround 3:45 Sunday noticed “No Service” on cell phone, Powered off, waited, powered back on, nada. Monday morning noticed still “No Service.” Driving in to BB&B, 2 bars at campus. Drove in to Freddie’s 5 bars, 3G. Called Customer Service, auto attendant transferred me to limbo where I waited for 7 minutes before hanging up. Tried again, got call back option, left number, returned deposit bottles while waiting. 15 mins later got call back. When rep heard I wanted to report an outage, she said she’d transfer me to someone who could help. Transfer disconnected. Redialed and left another call back number. Drove to recycling center, recycled, drove to group of cell towers, parked and waited 30 mins total for call back. Begged rep not to transfer me til she’d heard my story. She listened, and texted with her tech expert giving me things to try: power off / on tried that nope. Call your electric company? What/why? Power is not off, just cell phone service. I explained that in our remote rural area, carrier had 3rd party agreements with TMobile and ATT, and that those agreements didn’t offer all services to all customers, for example, my husband has never been able to access his flip phone’s voicemail from our house, but would have to drive up the hill to the main road. Perhaps too much primary traffic was pushing secondary users off? Told her that response was unacceptable and to push back asking for additional options. Finally her “expert” told her to tell me that “There are no outages in your area.” I’m thinking “Really. You think I’m hallucinating? The 60s weren’t THAT good to me.” Frankly expressed my frustration at wasting two hours in town. Cautioned that when I got home, if still “No Service” I was going to go online and be snotty. Consumer Cellular used to be known for its excellent customer service, but really missed the mark this time. Home, still “No Service” double checked Joe’s flip phone same. Logged into Facebook, started a “chat” with Consumer Cellular’s FB page, no response, went to bed. Service restored around 8:45 pm. Meanwhile was trying to install iCloud for Windows 10 on my new laptop and somehow locked my M$oft login. Part of the security verification is to send a code to your phone. code finally showed up last night, well after its 10 mins expiration time. Tried again this morning… “Usage limit exceeded, try again tomorrow.” Yeah right, IF we have cell service.Somewhat ashamed of myself, this rage serves no useful purpose, only makes others feel bad and me sick. Perhaps refraining from anger/turning from wrath should be my Lenten fast.
Ginny “helping with cleanup works very well!” true for potlucks, but I’ve been in homes where the hostess would have a conniption if anyone tried to help with washing up her fine china and crystal. Needless to say I am NOT that woman  Would you remind me what kind of work it is that you do? Exploring buildings you are going to remodel/repurpose sounds so very interesting.
Machka true that about tree nuts, especially walnuts. Something re-giftable=brilliant! “Know your brushfire plan” made me laugh out loud, serious message, hilarious setting. Jammed/bruised arm can be even more debilitating than an easily set break. Hope ice and rest help soon.
Suzi!Q Stay well!
Michele insightful thoughts about Vince’s decorating.
NYKaren many thanks! All things I have on hand, and might even try dividing and using half for red onions and half for Cremini mushrooms. Mouth watering.
Heather “spend all my time giving dinner parties…” of course not. You spend all your time exercising, running, burning those bonus calories! Replacing kitchen laminate, refinishing downstairs floors, is that something that could be done while you and DH cruise? I’d love to remodel our kitchen, bathrooms and replace all the flooring, but alas, not just lack of funds, but the idea of putting Joe through the noise, mess and stress… never going to happen.
Welcome April in Scotland (there’s a song in there somewhere). When motivation fails, try stragey. Find some activity you like doing, identify the healthy foods you like, and remember: baby steps.
Allie whyever can you not help each other learn the new insurance program? Sounds like your DDS wants you all to fail spectacularly. Have you clearly let Dan know that he is neither staying at your place nor using your car while you are in Peru? IMHO it’s only fair to give him advance warning. Then stick to your guns!
Tina in CA Hope you love Viva Las Vegas. I’ve heard there are four days of dancing workshops in Vegas around Thanksgiving, and I’ve always wanted to go…
Sue in WA feel your water heater pain. Ours leaked all over the laundry/kitchen a few months ago. We were lucky enough that our neighbor is a water guy and came right over. He sold us a water heater at his cost, and while I would have preferred a tankless (for space) was so grateful I couldn’t quibble. Now our laundry room floor is bubbled up and I know there is mold growing beneath. No hyacinths here but bunches of purple crocus. Only downside to 3 sunny days in a row is that all the little flying things have hatched and are swarming. Mixed blessings.
Luci playing with your grands will be a great calorie burner
Tracey  Count me in on the Goldfish crackers club.
Kylia hoping your MD and Rheumatologist come up with an effective plan quickly. Yeast bloom is a very hard way to get motivated to change eating habits.
Katla I LOVE that rx!
Karen in VA “And for God's sake don't make them think about it during the Super Bowl.” ROTFLMAO
Viv ooh I have floor envy!
Pip perfect “tired dog is a good dog” pic.
Janet in Mo encouraging pats on the back. YOU can do this!
Went into the kitchen for my third cup of tea and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Joe wiping off the range grates he’d removed to clean beneath them. Somewhat sheepishly he explained he’d made a big mess with his breakfast and “I knew you’d clean it.” Bubbled over with thanks and told him how lucky I am that he’s my husband.
He’s off to Home Depot in Crescent City which will give me time to catch up on my vacuuming, especially since the stove is already spic’n’span.
Lighter, lovelies!

I went out to lunch with a friend yesterday and overloaded on iced tea. I was up past midnight from the caffeine and now today is off kilter. Eating right is not easy! Missed my gym day too. Oh well tomorrow is another day.5

Singing was WONDERFUL, as always.
Sang a new classic - Purcell.
On the way home I purchased a corn fed chicken and it's in the oven roasting with parsnips, onions and leeks. Brussel sprouts are prepped.
DH then popped in to the wine merchant and bought 6 more bottles of Italian red wine that we especially liked from his previous order. They delivered it an hour later. I bought a bottle of Breton cider.
When we got home we found some of the songs we had sung on Utube and played them
Amazon delivered his Valentine's Day gifts today before we set off for our class, which was lucky. I hid them in the wardrobe. One is a pillow with speaker inset for his sleepless nights, and the other is Mon Cheri liqueur chocolates. Just got to buy a card. We are going to eat in on Friday. Fish. Yum.

Barbara: I'm going to get your quote tatooed somewhere: "this rage serves no useful purpose, only makes others feel bad and me sick." Wise wise woman!!!

Barbara- Verizon quit supporting 3G service the end of December. My husband not happy! His new flip phone is different. The 4G reception not as good as the 3G was even with a new phone. I have read that several carriers are dropping 3G support. And RANT away! I rant everytime I have to deal with Verizon for husband. I am with att.
You are right, yeast bloom is a hard way to learn to eat better. I am not a happy female today. I just want to cry. No new changes, just tired and weepy.
Lunch over. Time to get back to work.
Thank you for listening to me whine.
