Barbara - HUGS,!! My DH went for a health check yesterday. I bet he didn't mention his prostate, Grrrrrr! or confess to the units we drink each week. He is going for a routine blood test on Thursday.
Because Edie is so socially acute she can be utterly charming, or she can decide to wind people up big time. She loves to be contrary. At the school concert she decided she wasn't going to cooperate. She is the ultimate tease. Poor future boyfriends.
Tracey - How wonderful! I hope to be the perfect grandma. I think I am unshockable.

"Todo"s and "done"Done: nothing yesterday, woozy so spent day in bed. So far today, voicemailed surgery nurse and Dr P re: Joe’s procedure, called CHN for DEXA scan, they aren’t scheduling until their machine is fixed. After a digestively explosive night, felt woozy so skipped all activity and slept yesterday away.
Bonus:
ToDo: invest 10 mins cleaning Living Rm, carry over 10 mins cleaning Master Bth, Kitchen/Laundry, Office, Master & Guest Bds, get up off my butt and go outside with the dogs, install iCloud for Win 10, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, bake bran muffins, call Carolyn D. Next week Shadow to Mini Pet Mart to shop for crate, get Shingrix vaccine. next month: follow up for DEXA scan appt. Reward: inventory seeds, plan garden, order replenishments.
Machka Beautiful pics! Do you ride on the sand? “booked a dentist appointment for that tooth” well done!
Heather “The trauma has so much less grip on me now.” Brava! Just read the dragon drawing review. Are you quite sure that socially acute Bea isn’t a pre-reincarnation of the Dalai Lama? Did your DH win the “Burping contest”?
SuziQ so thankful you survived such a horrific year. your perfect day. The p color chart made me giggle.
Kylia you, Machka, Barbie, Katla, Lanette, KJ, (especially) Rori and others who care for loved ones have my deepest admiration and respect. What a cutie you are, and were!
NYKaren “notice the positive” inspiring. Even more so the starting with “things I get a chance to do” and ending with “decisions I made today that were positive.”
Welcome @taylordebraa8007 Debra in CA, Amber’s friend.
Karen in VA since we’re in coastal Oregon, I order seeds from Nichols Garden, Territorial or PeacefulValley/Grow Organic, but they don’t carry Katrina. See Johnny’s has F1 Katrina @ 10 seeds for $8.50, gulp, and not even organic. Our transplanted F1 Mercury Beit Alpha cukes ($2.95/30 seeds) produced all the way thru September in our cool, foggy flower bed.
Pip something is very wrong. How could you possibly suck at riding hills? Bullwinkle and Rocky (or Floyd?)
Sue in WA Hooray for the roofer, electrician and registering your cabin for rent with the Traveling Nurses Association.
Okie what do you do for your jobs 1 and 2?
Ginny in OH, impressive purge and flights of stairs! Really impressive tile backsplash job!
Kim your thoughts on time are sparking some reflection. Since I’ve been retired, freed from the external structure of work, I’ve been less mindful of how I use my time. If it weren’t for setting up external structures (church, firehall, line dance, dog group and BB&B) I’d laze away the rest of my days. Hmm. Food for thought. Thanks for your succinct IRS info to NYKaren. Is even paid church work subject to income tax?
Beth hope starting (and documenting) back at square 1 finds the sweet spot for you.
Cheri thank you for your catfisher warnings and wise words.
Lisa “sneaking up on myself.”
Mary fm AZ/MN the V-day pic.
Viv thank you for the “make those happy memories” reminder. Will take that to heart today, especially with Joe.
Welcome Jane from England!
Allie “son sleeping on the couch” is he going to look after your condo while you’re in Peru? Safe travels, hope the trip is all you want and more.
KJ I want your dream room too!
Michele How horrific to have the car land upside down in flames right in front of you. So relieved his serious injuries are not life threatening.
Tracey Loved your running away story, envy you your grandparents (mine all died before I could know them), laughed out loud at your “thought I should mention that part” confession. I resembled that remark!
Husbands and health rant:Joe reminded me of his eye Dr appt tomorrow, wanted to be sure I’d be home with the dogs. We haven’t left Shadow alone since we got her, and he’s concerned she’d be destructive. Yet he would oppose leaving her in her crate. I suggested he postpone the eye test as he’d be prepping for his colonoscopy and shouldn’t be that far from a toilet. There followed four or five loving conversations. He doesn’t want me driving him there and back, but wants to drive himself in the van. He can “rest” in the van’s bed afterward until he’s recovered. He rejected me driving him, with, or without the dogs. I pointed out the instructions that say you must have a driver. He read the instructions carefully, finding an “out” in the stop taking aspirins 7 days before. The warning about possible tears in colon requiring hospitalization and surgery set his resistance in concrete. I maintained soft answers for the first four, but got defensive/aggressive in the last, reminding him that his father had a “bag”. He said he, not me, should have the right to determine his health care. Instead of agreeing, I snottily asked him who he thought would be changing his bags. :ohno: me and my mean, nasty temper. Where we stand now: Joe doesn’t want the colonoscopy under any circumstances. He wants the poo test I kiboshed earlier this year, knowing he was past due for the colonoscopy. I have agreed to: 1-ask the surgery nurse if a postponement due his taking aspirin within the past 7 days and currently having the sniffles is appropriate. 2-ask the Dr. to re-order the poo test and 3-ask the Dr. to speak with Joe about the colonoscopy, whether or not it is necessary. Whether or not Joe will agree to listen to the Dr. is out of my hands, hard as that is to accept. 4- When the scheduler called back, I cancelled his appointment.
Barbie “When I concentrate on the problem, the problem increases...when I concentrate on the solution, the solution increases.” Will try to shift my focus from the “problem” of Joe’s resistance, to the “solution” of maintaining his health. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Off to prep some veggies and brown rice. :}

Hey, I can’t b awesome at work everything1 -
Barbara - I am a semi-retired accountant. Job 1 is a small company that I was working 3 days a week for, then 2, now 1. We'll see. Things don't look good, but the owner is determined to keep it going as long as she can. Job 2 is a builder who does major remodels ($500K and up) and new homes. He only has 2-3 projects going at a time normally so not very busy for me. I laughed and told him I wouldn't be able to afford him to redo my bathroom and kitchen. My size job he wouldn't even quote on . I worked for his Uncles for 20+ years when I lived in Houston.
Okie in the TX Hill Country5 -
Well hubby turned down the new meal trays. His reason he wants only chicken or egg dishes. He won (It was too silly of an argument on whether chicken y dumplings counted as a chicken soup or not? He was very sure he was right that it’s not) .
So making him a few 245cal plain chicken ,green beans, dashes of pepper ,Idaho garlic flavored bag potatoes . Cause well chicken y dumplings 🥟 doesn’t have chicken???? Lol 😂 I now see where JRs picky eating comes from. Points finger at hubby.
Hard making these without knowing the other person’s food moods, but will keep making them. So far the others were successful he ate them all up me too.

Allie ~ Safe and Happy Travels to you and Trudy!
Amber ~ It sounds like your hubby is choosing a healthy dinner if it is chicken, broccoli, etc.
Taxes ~ My DH sends them to the accountant. He has a BA degree and I can't understand why he doesn't tackle them himself since he is no longer in the antique business. Of course, if I had to do them it would be a disaster. Anything concerning numbers is over my head.
I have not exercised in 3 days...back aching and knees. The best way for me to exercise is to go to a big box store and walk every aisle. Got my car back from repairs today so may get to go walk tomorrow if all goes well. (We had to get a new starter in this 13 yr old car that has really never had any problem before.)
Carol in GA4 -
Carol I have college education and could probably learn to do the taxes on my own but I like having them done for me in the same way that my husband is capable of washing the car but chooses to go to the car wash.5

So eldest Navy son got a text from his youngest Navy brother. Younger brother was texting weird and asking for money. So we think youngest sons Facebook page has been hacked. Aack. My eldest listened to his instincts and didn't send any. I sent an email to youngest sons Master Chief, so hopefully it will be resolved!

Barbara - paid work (even if it is illegal ie; selling drugs or turning tricks) for any one or any organization is in the IRS's opinion subject to income tax review and they want a return, so they can review it - you may not owe anything, but they still want the return. My parents had me start doing returns at 13 years old and I had to declare my babysitting/pet sitting money.
Kim
This made me chuckle and yes, all paid work is subject to tax.1 -

Rebecca-Definitely hacked! If they run out of money even stupidly they get a free meal theirs a closet to donate extra cleaners to others who need it.Daughter donates regularly to it because her pay is higher than the E1’s especially. If she moves based she fills those up for others.Theirs always someone with extra clothes to even a tv if they ask. Free healthcare to even free haircut if your really down on your lunch the commander or other soldier will litterely pay for it say pay me back later or as a free kindness. Daughter got one a girl had an extra computer screen couldn’t take it with her so she used it then brought it home for later when any of us need it. Facebook is known for soldier identity theft asking for money...real soldiers do not ask . Navy is a family they don’t let anyone beg for scraps. So trust me good thing you alerted a higher up so they can alert the FBI to investigate it.Its a federal crime to impersonate a USA 🇺🇸 Naval personel they will charge foreigners abroad even.
Carol- Yes healthy chicken ,green beans ,with artificial mash potatoes added almond milk to help add vitamins. Thing is the meal I had low sodium chicken y dumplings 🥟 with baked oven potatoe 🥔 wedges was also healthy but he claims it doesn’t have chicken. The name CHICKEN y Dumplings 🥟 shows their is chicken in the soup but he says it doesn’t have chicken. It literally has 1oz of chicken per helping! But he says that it’s soup not chicken casserole to chicken itself. I brought up chicken noodle soup he says it’s chicken, but chicken y dumplings is not a chicken based product. It was a very tiring argument so I gave up felt like explaining to a congressman that both parties have ideas matter to the people. Both are healthy meals but had to empty all snack prep meals to make these. Then toss the snacks in regular Tupperware. So will see trying to prep meals when a man thinks a chicken based item isn’t chicken but another variation of it is...quite aggravating . Both meals have chicken both have potatoe items. Only difference is I put green beans in one y dumpling 🥟 noodles with 4 pickles is in the other. Next time instead of dumpling 🥟 noodles I’ll just toss in spaghetti type noodles he’ll accept it then. I see now understand my MIL complaints about the men being picky in the family more every year lol.

Barbara – so glad you feel better. You have no idea how scary it was to see that car in flames and everyone hovering around the crash. I’m just so glad that he’s alive.
Michele2 -
Hi Ladies!
Barbara AHMOD - best thing to do is to check with the church accountant or bookkeeper and see if they issued a W2 or a 1099-MISC. At one time (I'm talking 10+years ago) there was a threshold before 1099's would be issued - $100? $500? I can't remember and that might have changed. I think receipt of a 1099 by the IRS will set their hounds on the trail, lol. Like it did with your IRA that got taxed!
We don't issue a W2 or 1099 to my self-employed cleaner nor do we issue one to someone who does yard work for $100. But then, we're not set up as a business - a church probably is and likely has to file a return even if they are non-profit. Of course, the IRS welcomes ALL income reported whether there's a W2 or 1099 or not.
Michele - I immediately thought of you and Vince when I saw that crash. Thankful the young man doesn't have life threatening injuries but probably will take a fair amount of rehab.
Kylia - cute photo's! You get younger all the time!
Barbie - I love your insight. I had a great teacher decades ago who said "what you think about expands" - hence little worries can grow quickly. When something is niggling at me, I remind myself to think of something that I WANT to expand and not waste time on fretting about things that generally never come to pass.
I saw the doc today about my colon issue, she took blood to see if there's infection and also did the "poo" test. If something shows up, then it's CT scan time. If not, I'm going to check into food sensitivities. I might be in the early stages of developing gluten or dairy or some other food problems.
I mentioned IF to her - she knew what it was and is supportive.
Gotta start on supper. Have a great evening all!

Thank you for this. One of the benefits of meditation is expanding my ability to shift my thinking from ruminating on the wrong things.4 -
Stressed but got through it today managed to jump rope, exercise band (added a bigger weight to it), y walked .
Tried to get JR to accept a regular cup since the nuby sites down but JR cried for his nuby cup. Hoping they fix it soon.Wish JR wasn’t picky. I’m so peri menopausal yo y downs I can’t get on an even track! Think I’m beating the start of a bladder infection tho.
I upped my water 💦 intake to made sure to watch what I eat to get rid of it. Hubby said if it reverses starts coming back doctors immediately. He worries about sepsis to kidney failure (he googles everything like me). My breasts are sore from jumping rope. Not sure how that’s possible.
Luckily my Dads recent tests were all okay to same so great news that is a stressed gone.

Roofers here again today. Poor Nessa the labradoodle was in the sitting room with me and they were pounding on the roof. The light shade fell off the ceiling and hit her on the back. She has been sticking very close to me ever since. Pickup is at the dealer's for oil change and to fix door latch (could not open driver's door). They called to tell me I need new brakes in the front so that will be done too. Yikes, lots of expenses just now.
Mary - Love the pic.
Allie - Traveling mercies. Enjoy!
Jane in England - Welcome. Come back often.
Kylia - You are looking good.

Oh my eldest had so much fun with this impersonator! At the end he got nasty and showed his true colors, definitely not the youngest son's demeanor! All correspondence was screen shot saved for verification.👍. Master Chief informed youngest and he got back to my husband. He will change security features on his Facebook page.👍

Newbie here, I'm 51. In the Southeast Missouri area across the Miss River from Memphis TN and minutes from NE Arkansas. I have been on MFP for several years. 2020 is the year of "NO" for me. NO sugar after years of saying I was sugar-free but still having "some" here and there. After years of putting my health 2nd, 6th or 12th, it's FIRST now. I've lost 10 pounds as of today this year. I really like the "Trim Healthy Mama" lifestyle of healthy carbs healthy fats forever way of eating, which my bad habits have been sabotaging since 2015. Just wanted to say HI! And sorry to jump in mid-month, I literally JUST found you on a night my fibro is got me wide awake in pain and fully awake when I should be asleep Sherr a.k.a. AvaMaria2012
