Not sure what state you are in, but I think in most states we will be pushing lock down into Mid May, but we will see!
Hopefully, they re-open for you AND they are not doing it too soon!
I think texas and oklahoma are easing up a bit and allowing some business openings first of May. I'm sure the transition will be gradual. Be interesting for the late spring races that are hoping to still meet.1 -
No vacuum cross training or mop olympics for me but I did get a good longish run in. My runs lately have not been great, my legs just feel like there is nothing there. They are just dead. I have been pretty discouraged honestly and yesterday almost came home with less than 2 miles but I stuck with it and finished without going the 5 I intended but between feeling like I had no energy the trail was really crowded. Also my HR has been really strange. Dropping low (in the 40's) while I am running and only getting into the low 100's.
So I wanted, really wanted and needed good run today. I decided to do the interval run on the peloton app that I liked before and headed off. I actually felt better even during my warmup. I didn't even attempt the trail (too many cars in the parking lot) and headed out on the dirt service road. With it damp and cool and sprinkling off and on there was no one out there so we had it all to ourselves. The time really flies away with this app and it is fun and motivating. I also found myself often running longer than the intervals called for. I was also able to get in some good speed (for me) with some short intervals down to 8:30-9:00 min pace and the longer intervals at 10-11 min pace.

@kgirlhart - Love the 5.2 in 52 mins for your 52nd birthday! Hope you have a fantastic dinner and lots of the yummy chocolate cake!
@Camaramandy648 - hope your day improved!
@avidkeo - I know you will be able to handle a marathon! Don't let those brain weasels get to you! Slowing down will help you just need to find that pace where you can just run and run and run.
The restrictions here will be lifted by the different state governors and in some areas the mayors may also be involved. Some like Texas want to lift the restrictions as soon as possible but the mayors in some of the larger cities are being more cautious. California, and especially the LA area, won't be lifted any time soon. I suspect maybe not until the end of May because while our cases have not flooded the system like NY they are still going up. I had to laugh at one protester here who was dressed in full PPE head to toe, holding a sign that said COVID-19 is a lie.
@Scott6255 - Great run! So glad to see you building that mileage back up!
@katharmonic - I can't imagine doing all that running, walking, running, etc. today and then a long run tomorrow! I totally get the handsome trainer guilt though!
@quilteryoyo - great job getting that PB on the treadmill!!
@tramboman - I had that same question but now I know 😁
Shoes - I decided today that I really love the Topo ST-3s. as much as I loved the ST-2s and since Topo had the ST-3s on sale (just one color) so I am going to go ahead and get them if they have them in my size. I don't need another pair of shoes but I will put them away until I do. Hmmm... I think I may have a (shoe) problem 😂5 -
First cake pic, I'm going to post daily cause reasons lol.
Baking done!
It's a white chocolate mud cake. Tomorrow I'll fill with Swiss meringue butter cream - probably the lightest blue I can make it, then Tuesday I'll glaze it. Ready for Wednesday!
Really glad I baked it today. It wasn't hard but it's 2 batches so twice as long.11 -

Vacuuming as a cross train did suck!
Adding a “Death by 10s “ challenge on the Peloton after vacuuming was even suckier. 10 ten minute classes back to back. But getting off the bike to a clean floor?
Priceless.
That would be a fun running challenge. Need to mentally file that.5 -
Happy birthday @kgirlhart !
We drove over to the little park near us where no one ever seems to go. 10k half on trails and half on roads. We mistimed our run and got totally benighted in the woods, couldn’t find the trail with a flashlight! It’s one of those rough, scrubby woods where it’s difficult to tell what’s trail and what’s not at the best of times, and we blundered off the path and into a little clearing and then couldn’t find the way out. We could see the road paralleling us so we knew we were headed the right direction, but kept walking into solid walls of blackberry brambles. Egads. And our run had died and had to be restarted previously so we didn’t have a record of where we had been. We did eventually escape but it was a 27 minute mile!
We had a few animal encounters while blundering about in the dark, too. First three deer went right by us (we found out later that the deer were on the correct path!) then we heard a barn owl, then we heard a group of coyotes! Always my favorite animal to hear while lost at night! They weren’t very close to us, but it did make us laugh at how stupid our situation was. Then when we found the path again we saw a great big bunny. We also had a funny “animal” encounter. I don’t know the history of this little bit of woods, but it’s full of fallen chimneys, little bits of wall, patches of foundation, and plants which aren’t native here, so apparently it was houses once not too long ago. We were inching our way along a thicket and there right in front of us was a lifesize, realistic stone statue of a pig!
After our adventure we still had to get some miles in, so we ran around the neighborhood, which is much better kept up than ours and has bike lanes. We saw exactly one guy, a runner, who waved and swapped sides of the road before we could, and passed a family cooking marshmallows over a fire pit in the front yard. And that was all the people we saw, nice to be out there alone for a change.
I’m pretty sure my legs from the knee to the ankle are going to be covered in poison ivy. In the past I haven’t been super sensitive to it and I hope that continues to be the case. Right now both my husband and I look like extras from Tiger King, we have so many claw marks from blackberry brambles. Note to self: get out of the house earlier. This was just one of those days where every little thing takes about fifteen minutes longer than usual and it just nibbled up the daylight.8 -
Fantastic birthday run @kgirlhart - I’m also ridiculously pleased by numbers working out like that. I hit exactly an hour this morning right outside my front door and it was very satisfying!
@quilteryoyo - congrats on the 5k PB!
@scott6255 - fantastic run! That must have felt brilliant.
@Teresa502 - well done for managing 10 miles when you weren’t feeling it. Great job.
@katharmonic - laughing away reading your comment about handsome gym instructors and not wanting to disappoint them. I am a bit of a people pleaser at the best of times but especially when being barked at by certain instructors at the gym. I’m not proud... 😳
@shanaber - sorry you’re not feeling it at the moment and well done for getting out there anyway. Hope you feel better soon.
@rheddmobile - really hope that you don’t end up covered in poison ivy. That sounds horrible. Fingers crossed you’re ok.
Just over 5 slow and quiet miles this morning. My family is Greek Cypriot originally and today is orthodox Easter Sunday. Will be missing my parents (and their amazing BBQ food) but we are going to try and do some traditions via video chat. Have a good Sunday everyone x

Looking good @avidkeo. Look forward to the next update! X1 -
@Avidkeo Looks delicious so far!
@rheddmobile I hope you don’t end up with poison ivy!
Went hiking today for 4.4 miles. Beautiful weather and some animal friends (from a distance).0 -

I really was NOT in the mood to run today. It was decent outside - well, sunny, windy, around 50°F. I opted to run on the treadmill where I could control my pace and the incline. I was running my Humor Un-Cancelled 5K today as part of my longish run this week. I debated on whether to take it easy or go for it. I chose the latter, to get it over with sooner, and got a PB for a 5K - 33:04 minutes...10:39/mile pace. Shhh. Don't tell Garmin. He doesn't know. (I don't have a foot pod so Garmin always thinks I'm a lot slower and don't go as far as the treadmill says I do. I believe the treadmill.) I continued on at a slow pace to finish up 4 miles. With the warm up and cool down walks, I traversed 5.0 miles today.
Congratulations!

I could do without the animal friends in that first picture!!

@rheddmobile I once fell out of a tree into a large (like way bigger then I was) poison ivy bush. Being covered in the stuff it not on the list of experiences I wish to repeat.
But other than that, sounds like a fun little adventure you had!
@marisap2010 Good spotting on that snake. Most people would never have noticed it there.2 -

WOW! looks like you found a den. The two look like rattle snakes. But the light brown one isn't obviously a pit viper, but is similar in marking. You know what kind they are? I'm incline to guess it's a copperhead in the mix.0 -

@shanaber Glad your latest run was a good one. Those are the ones that keep us going.
@rheddmobile I'm glad you were able to escape the woods relatively unscathed. The coyotes would have scared me, even if they were far away. We have those around here. Once I was out taking Tippy for a late night pee break when we heard some fairly close. Tippy looked up at me and headed for the door. I was right behind her. LOL
Looks like a lovely hike @marisap2010 .

I decided to change things up a bit, and start the HM training now. Changed my goal on the Hal App, and wow, sure jumped up the running! The HM is in August so I'm hopeful, but even if it isn't, I keep in mind the words of you here who have said that training made you better runners.
Yesterday, I headed out for the 3rd run in 3 days, and was NOT feeling it! Was supposed to be a 3 mile, but after a night of little & unrestful sleep, a few adult beverages the night before celebrating the end of semester, my knee started hurting, my ankle (which has been bothersome now a few months, but usually ok when I run) started really hurting, plus the toes on my left foot ached...and the gut issues! This run was becoming a "Argh, Have To Do It" rather than a "Want To Do It" run. Called it after 2 miles.
Now, to work on my nutrition for this.....

@quilteryoyo congrats on the 5K time!
@kgirlhart awesome birthday run. I want to try to do that for my 52nd in June. Not sure if I can get the 52 min, but will be my goal!
@rheddmobile cool adventures! Not fun on the poison ivy though. A friend of mine just had it, and she was miserable. Hope you are ok
@avidkeo yum! More!
I’m feeling bummed out. I’ve gained 4lbs and for many it might seem not much, but in my small short frame, I can tell. I don’t get it as I’ve been ruining, more miles in fact. I have been eating more, but not more than mfp + exercise calories.
And now my foot. I didn’t do anything yesterday, well except vacuuming cross training lol. I want to run today but know I should not to allow my foot to feel better. I should get on the bike. I’m just not feeling it.
I know there is a lot more import stuff to be worrying about, and I should just be grateful I’m healthy and my family too....sorry to whine
