Thank you all for the condolences. Such a shock sure puts things in perspective.
Amber JR is surely growing up fast, and that smile! Hope Mama has a BIG baseball bat. Great pics of daughter too! Congrats on the baggy shorts
Barbie “get a human they said…” that cat’s expression made me laugh out loud!
Machka thanks for checking in. ((hugs)) for the hard to take news about your husband’s injury. Sorry to hear these assessments aren’t yet enough to get the clueless RTW people to get off your backs. The options are expensive and time-consuming? Does that mean lawyers? “Fencing”
Heather I really wish Amazon.US would offer the AF red wine you like. None of the ones I’ve tried were palatable in the least. the gratitude journals and the cards. “…all the better for being a chosen love.” Truer words never spoken. :
Katla Wednesday I ordered take out from “Fat Irish Pub and Kitchen”. Called it in. Parked and called to say “I’m here.” They allow one person in at a time. When it was my turn, I was standing in the pub waiting for our food, and looked around at how inviting the pub was, comfy seats by a fireplace, gleaming tap handles. All I wanted to do was to sit down and have a pint and a chat with a friend.
Karen in VA that view of Mt. Shasta from the 22ft airstream (complete with goat) reminded me that when Joe and I were courting the view from his back door was different every weekend, sometimes the Pacific at Pigeon Point, sometimes the pines and mesquite in the Western Sierras, yup. He lived in a camper on his Ford pickup The odd random fact about your Dad and your ex cracked me up! A sign?
Lisa “…harder to argue with someone’s identification than someone’s actions.” Brilliant! Also what you said about a vaccine. Levi and Kelsey!
Welcome @BeUncommon and ((hugs)) for your loss, Tonya. Don’t worry about reading every post, just drop in and read/respond to what sparks you. Randie’s eyes are stunning!
SuziQ that looks like a brunch I’d enjoy, and I don’t usually like omelets or eggs in any fashion. “… tip of the iceberg” “Namaske”
Rita pretty sure that yellow flowering shrub in front of the A&W is Scotch Broom https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytisus_scoparius . Amazing pic of the yellow spotted lizard. Had I seen his tale, I’d have thought “Sssnake!!!” and levitated right out of there. Gorgeous sunset pic.
Flea hope this “passes” quickly and you’re feeling better soon.
Kim I am impressed that you are able to dig out Scotch Broom. Do you use a jackhammer? The roots here are so tightly entrenched I’ve given up and just clip the stems as close to the ground as I can.
Rebecca, O Athena Rose! The innocence peeking through the spaghetti.
Julie congratulations on your qualification! Sending good vibes for Wednesday’s CT scan. Hoping for good answer, easily remedied.
Pip OWW! Dang that uneven sidewalk. Fooey!
Barbie thanks for the coconut peanut sauce chicken recipe, sounds yummy!
Ginny so thankful Lucy showed up. Hoping this experience strongly discourages her from further outings.
Michele Happy Birthday PJ!!!
Margaret how scary the scammer was able to mimic your friend’s gransdon’s voice.
Welcome @sndral Sandra from the central coast of CA. Your area is/was one of my faves when we lived in the Bay Area.
Carol sorry to hear your BnL is unable to understand the COVID-19 restrictions. One of my dear friends just moved her demented mother up here to a care facility to be closer and more involved in her care. Now she can’t help feed her or take her out and the mother is declining rapidly. Very sad.
Beth would coq au vin tenderize the tough chicken breasts?
Tracey loved hearing about your Dad taking you to Pizza Delight instead of taking you out back and “getting rid of” you. What a precious memory.
Guess I’m letting this time get to me more than I’d like to admit. Listening to Pluto and about 2 minutes in she starts to sing the Beatles' “All My Loving’” and I started to cry.

Karen: I too had a good relationship with my dad, we shared the same sense of humour, I can remember laughing with dad at Monty Pythons Flying Circus on TV, my mum didn't get it at all and couldn't understand how we found it funny. He was definitely the fun parent, and I have lots of happy memories.
Lisa: I 've never been particularly good at establishing routines either, I start with good intentions, but .... I have started yet another routine, see how long I can keep it up. Good luck with yours.
Flea: Hope you are feeling better.
Tonya: What a lovely set of pictures of your dad for your mum, I can relate to the wording.
Barbara: Sorry about the loss of your dance teacher, must have been a shock.
Michele: The cake looks yummy, save a slice for me (That's my trouble, can't resist cake!)
Looks like it will be a sunny day today, it was cold this morning when we took Leah for a walk, a light frost would you believe. I should be able to wash my sheets and get them outside to dry with a bit of luck.
The dentist called me yesterday to cancel my appointment, they had already emailed me to tell me that they are only open for emergencies so I kind of expected my appointment to be delayed until the end of lockdown.
I'm a bit behind, over 5 pages to catch up on

Ginny : Yeay Lucy came back I bet you were relieved. It's always a worry when our cats don't come in on an evening. Our male Logan didn't come home for his supper a few nights ago and we were a little concerned (knowing how much he loves his food ) We had a few anxious moments the next morning when still no sign of him, but then he came strutting through the cat flap and went straight to his bowl! You can almost imagine the cartoon 'Simons Cat' where he's pointing to his mouth - meow feed me. Glad Lucy was safe and sound after her little adventure.

Viv UK: Sorry you got your dental appointment cancelled. I follow a very loose flexible daily schedule. Having a routine doesn’t appeal, as it has very negative connotations from when I was a teacher and my day was ruled by the bell 😂 I loved my job, but boy that bell was the bane of my life!! 😂
No definitely plans today, but so many options. The sun is shining, so there will be garden time and a walk in there somewhere! 😂

I'm enjoying the dad stories. Tracy, your story about the evening you and your dad became friends is so heartwarming.
My dad worked really hard, and long hours - he left the house around 7 in the morning, and would be home for dinner at 6:30pm, sometimes heading back to the hospital for evening rounds. He had Sundays and Wednesdays off. He was an introvert, and his den was a man cave that we were all a bit timid to enter, though the door was almost always open, except for the rare occasions he was talking to a patient or a consultant on the phone. We didn't actually spend that much time together - half an hour for breakfast at the bakery a few times a year, a 5 minute talk at the breakfast table early in the morning…but the time I spent with him was important/memorable/quality time, so occupies a large space in my memory bank.
My dad was a chauvinist (without being a boor), but it did mean that he did not budget for cars & insurance for my sister & me, but did for my brothers, and although he did pay for the 2 years my sister went to college, once I was married, he did not pay for anything for me. So at the age of 18, I had to sell my horse because I couldn't afford the paddock rent, figure out with my 19-year-old husband how we were going to share our one car to get both of us to work, etc., and when, a year later, we were stationed in Norfolk, VA (Navy), I found a part-time job with The Virginian-Pilot to pay for college tuition. My mother was upset with my dad for not paying for my college, but he had made it clear that once married, he expected my husband to provide for me, so I didn't expect him to pay for anything. Years later, though, he loaned me money for a down payment on our townhouse and for a new roof, and he forgave the loan. After he died, my mom needed some money, so I paid the loan back with interest, and it made me feel so good to hear the relief in her voice when she called to thank me. I silently thanked my dad for instilling in me that my parents owed me nothing once I was married, because I always had in my mind that I owed them money, and it made it a no-brainer to repay it with interest when I saw my mom in need. The fact that it was a "loan payback", therefore an odd amount, & I included the calculations with my check to her, made it much easier for her to accept the money.
It was a fraction of the amount of life insurance she left me & my brothers when she died…

I might be the only one on this thread that washes my groceries off! - I do it because the virus can live for hours on slick or smooth surfaces, like plastic, shiny cardboard, metal, and fruit skins (bananas, blueberries, apples). Not very long on porous or rough surfaces, like avocado or cantaloupe. I take an old cottage cheese container (with a lid) full of soapy water & a washcloth in the car, and as I load the groceries into the car, I quickly wipe them down first. I also wipe my door handles; and phone, keys, credit card, & hands after I am back in the car and have removed my mask. When I get home, I leave any unwashed produce that doesn't need to be refrigerated (avocados, bananas, melon) in my garage on a little makeshift table. As I bring produce into the house, I wash/rinse the surface of the item before I peel or cut it. Maybe it's not necessary. It seems prudent to me, and is a minor inconvenience.
My friend Rebecca & her husband Dino have 5 children, a nanny, and almost always house guests, so they always look like they are hoarding when they go to the store. Sometimes people glare at her so she feels like she has to explain that there are 10 people living at their house. It's too much stuff to wipe down. She sprays a cloud of Lysol over the whole batch while it's still in the car, before bringing it in to the house.

Morning ladies sunny day here. I have read all your stories and loving pics, jokes and memories. Brain not active today so no replies.
Told you my son promised me ‘supplies’ well yesterday a big box arrived, when I opened it it contained 24 bottles of tonic water. Said to DH ‘well got my eye wiped tonic but no gin’ messaged son to say tonic arrived and thanks he sent back to say gin on the way. Smiles again and effusive thanks and hearts LOL
Have put my lamb kleftiko in slow cooker, not sure how it will turn out DH says he will eat it and love it. Not sure if that’s a compliment or not. I am more critical of my cooking (or lack of) skills. Will let you know how it goes,
DH Does the shopping and we don’t wipe stuff down, each to his own. We are all different which makes this group so wonderful.
Stay safe and have a good day

Wiping down? I do wipe the large plastic containers of milk from our local newsagents, especially the handles. For deliveries, I leave them sitting about for a couple of days. Tins, packets, are put away and not touched for ages. Fresh fruit is washed,. Veg are cooked and hands washed after prep and I make sure I wash my hands if I pick anything up from the outside, including letters and bills, which I have left lying anyway.
Kate UK - Amazon is strictly rationing us for our Pernod. I am now very well stocked with tea bags and coffee from them. I think we will get well into the autumn.
Sea bass tonight, with lovely garlicky haricot beans. Broccoli.
No new cases overnight locally.
Rebecca - forgot to say how much I loved the spaghetti pics. Wonderful!

Routine- I am absolutely a creature of routine. I do the same things every day, at the same time. My life has hardly changed at all since the lockdown and I love my life as it is.Most people who know me make allowances for my OCD. They know i am a stickler for punctuality and are very respectful. They know I have to eat at the same times etc. They know i hate background music.
I have a very tolerant husband and friends.

Michele > Thank you very much x I totally agree with the social distancing. If you dont want to have to hang around and chat then its a bonus to have to social distance. The only problem is, if you want to hug someone so bad and cant lol My daughter is 15 years old now will post a pic below x The cake looks amazing (okay im going to stop looking.. getting hungry lol)
Carol > Thank you very much hun, my mom really liked it
Barbie > Thank you for the recipe, will have to try it out x Thanks @ the image. My mom really liked it
Grandma > Thats good to hear, some places are opening up but i feel might be too soon. There in hoards, just asking for the pandemic to continue.. ugh
Heather > Love the card, it is brilliant
Pip > sorry to hear of your fall. I worry about that all the time as if it happened I would not be able to get back up and would probably very much hurt myself. I hope you are feeling much better soon x
suzi > LOL @ the lettuce... i literally laughed out loud x Thank you for the compliment on my creation My neice always called my dad cute Papa ... lol
sndral > Welcome, I am very new here myself So glad you joined. I am very worried for those in the U.S as well as I feel they have opened up far too many things already and the second wave I feel will hit hard. Seeing all the protesters out refusing to quarantine it personally makes me so angry as they are putting other peoples lives at risk.. Trump is... well wont make this a political post as they normally dont end well but please stay safe x
Beth > Thank you for the welcome
Viv > Thank you so much, my mum chose the wording that she wanted on it x
Off to the doctors today to get my B12 jab (get it every 3 months) I think they will probably just come out to the car in the parking lot to do it. Hopefully, feel so nervous going in anywhere these days.. if i was to get this virus I would not survive it. Having to go hospital a month ago was very scary but at least it was not one of the big hospitals but a small local hospital. Had to have my foot looked at as there was a lump on it and it is considered an emergency with me being a diabetic. Turns out it was a veruca and she said it was nothing to worry about and told me what to get for it and while I was there I only seen one other person in the waiting room and he was sitting far away. The hospital was like a ghost town.
Well have to go and start cleaning and cutting up so fruit that hubby just brought back from the grocery store.
Stay safe everyone
Tonya xx

Hi, all,
Tonya - good call on skipping the political, as we try very hard not to bring politics or religion into the thread. Far too easy for others to get hurt without intent, far too much anger in today's world as is, we try not to bring it here. For many of us, it's a haven. Also wanted to express my sorrow on the loss of your father - he sounds like an amazing man.
Just off the rower and cooling down. After I peel off my sweats and take a shower, I'll be able to put laundry in. The routines I've either established or trying to:- Elliptical - MWF - 30 minutes, bumping up tension each week until at max. (started January 27)
- Rower - TTS - At 700 strokes now in 22.5 minutes, bumping it up 100 strokes each time until I get it up to 30 minutes, then start increasing speed and tension each time until at max. (Started back on it last week.)
- Food - log every bite every day. (Started this 11 days ago, have been faithful) Moving calorie restrictions down weekly until I get in the weight loss zone, and sticking there. Sneaking up on myself again.
- Laundry one load on Tuesday, two to three loads on Saturday.
For my own sanity, I also try not to start work until work hours (8:30 to 5:30), but am violating that today, as I have to hit the state website to try to snag some grant money for businesses reopening - can be for personal protective equipment, deep cleaning services on an ongoing basis, marketing to try to get back up and running, and so on. The site will post the application at 8 a.m., and there will be a mad rush trying to get into it.
Nine minutes, and I have to be in the shower. On the upside, this is the first time I've worked long enough and hard enough on the mower to actually sweat out. In previous sessions, I've only got to the "glowing" and slightly sticky stage.
Happy Tuesday, y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
Morning Ladies
I'm still lolly gagging in bed with a cup of tea
Watching the birds and Alfie is snuggled under the covers next to me..all is well
Dad stories..my dad was the best .. he tried his hardest to keep food on the table and he owned a couple of businesses that went belly up.. but it never really effected home life..my mom being an alcoholic though she wasnt much when we were younger ,but as we were teens and my brother 4 yrs younger we were out partying too..
That's why dad got so involved in al anon .once mom got sober she went to her 12 step meetings and dad to his al anon.. there was never shouting or cursing and my house was the hang out for the neighborhood and we loved it..
My mom.died in 2000 at 65 of renal failure ..my dad after the 2 failed businesses went into buisness for himself and did odd jobs ,roofing ,building into his late 70s early 80s
He was a deacon in his church .one thing that really upset me when mom was really sick and we knew the end was near he would still go off to work and leave her alone..granted she was sleeping alot.one time a year before she passed he went on a 4 day trip with one of his friends and left mom alone with a dog who had just had puppies.. she was in no shape to take care of them or herself
He was one of those men who has different beliefs and he would as he got older and after mom.passed watch TV and watch Glenn Beck and that type of stuff on the computer.I tried spending as much time with him.as I could and he would talk and talk and talk. But I was patient and would listen.. the rest of the family not so much...so when he passed I bought a Boston Red Sox Urn and on the plaque we put get to the point dad,grandpa,Don.....he was a very special man and I miss him dearly ,as I was typing this a male cardinal sat on the air conditioning unit for a split second in the window.. the morning he passed when I got there and with all the commotion I looked out the window and saw a pair of cardinals.
Enough of my rambling5 -
Good morning ladies!
Pip - how are you looking/feeling this morning? Geeze woman!

Lisa > Thank you very much and yes you are right about political / religious posts! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and not always are they going to be inline with someone else and yes can cause argument and hurt Well done with all the exercise, keep it up!!
Grandma > Hope you feel better real soon. Thank you for sharing your story, it sounds very familiar to my moms story as her mom was an alcoholic when she was young and had to take care of her 12 brothers and sisters. My mom was a real life Cinderella..lol Your Dad was a hard worker by the sounds of it and wanted to take care of his family. I find men were allot different depending on the generation they came from etc as to how they react about certain things. My brother and I sure did our share of partying and getting into trouble in our teens which I have apologised so much for with my parents, don't know how they survived our teens to be honest with worry etc... we all learn and grow up at some stage2 -
For those sharing both loving and realistic memories of their father, and for every other woman who loved her father, I would say it's the only thing about other women I've ever truly envied. I've always wondered who I would have been had I been given the gift of a supportive and loving father. You are very fortunate.
Laundry's in, shower taken, single cup of coffee absorbed, time to go play grant games. Picture me girding my loins, or if you can't, see the spoiler:
