Morning all. Happy birthday @bearly63!
Sunny in London today, and predicted to get hot again this week. Took my new shoes out for just under 5 miles today. They felt ok, but by the time I got home I couldn’t feel my toes. Hope they break in soon. I liked them when they arrived but like them better now I’ve swapped the black laces for neon orange from an old pair. Pic below (I think, still new to this spoiler business!)

I did 3 miles Friday, 3.25 Saturday, and set out to do 3 yesterday but ended up walking after 1.5 because I had shin splints.
I don't understand. I've been averaging 12-15 miles a week the last 2-3 months with no issues. I don't know if maybe 3 days in a row is becoming too much, if I ran too hard the first two days, if it could be my shoes, or if its the extra 20 lbs with being 26 weeks along catching up to me. I was very frustrated and disappointed at myself. The dogs were frustrated as well. When we walk to cool down, they usually stop pulling (I have them trained to run in front of me, makes me push my pace) and walk nicely beside me. I think they were confused because they kept me at a pretty good speedwalk the whole way home.5 -

You are doing all this and the rest of life while growing a human in your body! You are doing amazing! It's ok to listen to your body when it protests. When I've run both Saturday and Sunday (and I biked 23 miles yesterday), I usually take Monday as a rest from running. However, we are supposed to have thunderstorms this afternoon and rain the next three days so I decided to get out this morning. I got 7 slow miles in but it was a beautiful morning. Sunny and 63F. It's mostly cloudy now so I'm glad I got out early and got my does of Vitamin D!5

Definitely! I can't run three days in a row at all, let alone do so carrying another human being!
Have been speed reading and not talking much recently, been in a bit of a fug with my cabin fever. I've been for 4 outdoor runs and 1 outdoor walk now, still taking a lot of effort to force myself out of the door but it is nice to be outside apart from dodging idiots and sliding about... I try to be out the door by 7am to avoid the crowds of walkers and runners that have suddenly appeared but our local council seems to think the way to deal with the current situation is to spray all the streets with disinfectant every morning and I don't know what it is they're using but oh boy is it slippery!
Hal is working me hard, I think this week is the 'peak' of this base training he has me doing. The total for the week is 23 miles, which is about the same as the peak week of his novice HM plans and my highest so far. Feels like I've been increasing mileage for weeks on end, and my legs are missing swimming and the evil physio. Add the fact I'd never really done much speedwork before and now I'm doing it every week, and you'll understand why I quickly felt the difference between nice soft treadmill and hard sidewalks and roads! So decided to only go outside for one run last week and this week. The next two weeks' runs are a lot shorter (thank GOD!) so I might head out more often then. Unless (as people think) they decide to make masks obligatory in public spaces. I don't think I could run with a real mask on. What I'm doing atm is wear a buff and pull it up over my mouth and nose whenever I see another human.
Then I start the next HM training cycle. The first few weeks at least should feel like a rest. I'm going to try and intermediate plan this time round, and I think (and fear) the mileage is higher than I've done before. It was that or train for a marathon for a challenge, but I'm not at all likely to be running a marathon anytime soon.

@brittanystebbins95 I agree with @Teresa502 you are doing great, give your body a rest when it needs it, could really be as simple or complex as your body changing right now.
@eleanorhawkins they are spraying the streets. Okay that is a new level of insanity. Since you are starting another cycle of HM I would definitely rest just as if you would after a race. Skip is ultra training, she took off about 10 days after her marathon and then came back slowly running mostly with dear old me and then started a couple weeks ago on the plan. Body needs to rest. I don't run with a mask, sorry I can barely run with a buff when it's 10F out without feeling like I can't breathe let alone when it's 80F. I wear one if I'm in a store though they are not mandatory here.

Ikr? On the news last night, they were showing some town that has set up a 'disinfecting arch' over the main road into town so all cars coming from elsewhere get sprayed before they drive in. I mean wtf? They think the cars are going to bring a virus in, rather than the people inside them? It's like you see people driving about in their cars, alone, wearing masks. But then at the other end of the scale you have the people that pay no attention at all to any of the rules. As of today we are allowed to visit relatives as long as more than 10 of us don't gather at once, we all stay 2 metres apart and wear masks. Sport is still strictly individual and we must keep at least 10m distance for running, 20m for cycling. Walking in pairs at the most and only people who live together, and at least 4m from other walkers. So 7.30am I found a group of like 15 teenaged girls out walking, no masks, arms linked, spread all the way across the street. The mind boggles, it really does. Is there no middle-ground or common sense left in this world?
ETA on the spraying thing. My mother lives in a small rural village up in the mountains. They don't have street-cleaning vehicles there. So they've recruited a bunch of local farmers to use their tractors to pull tanks of disinfectant with hoses round the streets, with a council worker walking behind operating the hoses. Dunno what they're spraying, but dogs keep burning their paws on it afterwards

It was a dreary day here and I was tired, so I put off my run until late afternoon. Finally got out and did an "easy" 2 miles. It didn't necessarily feel that easy, but I tried to be as relaxed as possible and not push the pace at all. I was definitely feeling the effect of yesterday's long run.
I did a video on mobility training earlier in the day that was kind of interesting. It was not intense at all, just doing various mobility movements from the neck down to the toes, one area at a time. I felt like it was helpful. Toe mobility is definitely something that I could work on - that was hard! Like if you stand flat on your feet and lift all your toes and fan them out, can you put down first your pinkie toes, then the next toe and the next one at a time until you get the big toe. And can you raise and lower just the big toe. Took a lot of thought!5 -
I’m crushed. After my last run I could feel a tightness/knot in my left calf. I had a walk day after and I could still feel it a bit that day. Then I went to run again and five minutes in, it was very tight and was affecting my gait and was uncomfortable. So I walked that day too. I’ve just been walking every day. I was stretching every day and rolling my calf with my hand weight. Today I couldn’t feel any knot, my calf felt great. I tried to run and had to stop 18 minutes in. It’s back. I’m not sure how long I’ll not be running but I know I won’t be making my miles this month. I’ve never dealt with this sort of problem before. Sore muscles yes. Twisted ankle, yes. But not this. :-(11

As everyone else says, you’re doing amazingly well. Congratulations. I also ran during both my pregnancies - I did two halves with my first (17 and 20 weeks) and had no problems until all of a sudden my body said no. For me it was Braxton Hicks - at about 28 weeks or thereabouts, every time I ran I’d get them almost immediately, forcing me to stop and walk.
The good news is, that once bubs arrived, I was able to start running again fairly soon (3 months for first, six weeks for second) and found my fitness and speed came back really quickly.
Keep up the good work, it’s definitely worth it. Just remember to listen to your body.

Hey all, skimmed posts again. Work is busy again, yay!
Went for a walk this morning, but didn't strength train, I skipped strength on Sunday cause I needed the rest after Saturdays long run. And I slept in this morning so didn't have time to do strength this morning. May try do some tonight but it's not likely given kids...2 -

So, I am routinely pointing out to the people saying how totally dumb the people are who do this are, and laughing at the rare person in my area being respectful and taking this precaution....so, I’m saying it here, also.... some who are driving by themselves in their car with a mask on, may be truly dumb, I have know way to know this.... but some of us are just lazy and can not be arsed to screw with it. If I have 3 errands to run, and I get the darn mask situated so that it is comfortable, stays put, and most importantly doesn’t fog my darn glasses - I am NOT taking the thing off between stops, and starting over. Especially since I have no way to truly wash my hands between stops. So, you can think we are being ridiculous if you want... some of us are just lazy.
@brittanystebbins95 color me impressed...my best friend who I thought would run thru anything stopped fairly early in both her pregnancies... not because of any major issue, but because she had to pee about every mile, and got tired of loops and stops. Haha
I did my forest service trail hike/run today. Plan was to take a turn and come up just short of 3 miles... but it’s been long enough since I ran them I took the wrong turn and had a route that was pushing towards 6+ miles, I went rogue and cut some corners, and ended up just short of 5.... not quite what I planned... little more intense than I expected today. And I was as even trying to run some bits in the beginning. I was soooo over it by the end.4 -
@brittanystebbins95 Pregnancy aside, 20 lbs makes a significant difference to running. The rule of thumb is mile pace gets about twenty seconds faster per ten pounds, so very quickly gaining 20 should be expected to slow you down quite a bit. Not to mention your balance is changing, as well as the looseness of your tendons, which can impact your form.
Just keep listening to your body and remember your real goal is to stay healthy, not to run any particular distance at any particular speed!2
