The weather people were calling for rain on and off today. The sun was shinning, and it looked so nice outside about 11. I waited until 11:30 and took my dog for a walk in the neighbor's pasture field. We saw cows today, which we don't often do, and heard mocking birds and titmice.
Changed shoes and went out to do a recovery run (recovering from trimming trees) by doing laps on the driveway. About half way through the sky started getting really dark. I told Tippy we were going to get wet. Sure enough, it started raining and pretty much poured. There was no lightening, so I decided to just finish up the run. It was rather refreshing, but I was soaked to the bone when I finished. I guess that I am now officially one of those runners. I consider myself pretty bad *kitten* for continuing, since it started raining when I was at the house. I could have easily stopped and not gotten wet at all. I did cut my cool down walk short, as I was getting chilly. I ran 2.25 miles and walked 0.75.

Hi all, late check in from me today. But I have read and caught up. It’s been a hectic couple of days with work and the kids etc. All a bit overwhelming. But I’ve stayed on plan and not missed a single day - alternating workouts and runs. Should be well within my target for May. Wishing everyone well for the weekend. X

SO THOSE OF US IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE:
Do not forget Summer is coming - and you WILL slow down. You may even lose 1-2 or more minutes off your pace. You did not lose ground, it is just hot. Do not worry when cool weather returns your pace will too. Just readjust expectations and carry on.
Do not only look at the AIR TEMP, also pay attention to:
DEW POINT
HUMIDITY
HEAT INDEX
UV INDEX
Check and track all those numbers. You want all those numbers low as possible during the summer heat. Learn how each effects you personally by tracking them. Most weather apps these days will give you these numbers by the hour. If yours does not, get one that does like Dark Sky. You can use the hourly numbers to move your run around the day to when the numbers are the lowest possible given your schedule.
UV is highest when the sun is highest so you can avoid burns/skin cancer or at least reduce chances by running early or late in the day. Remember CLOUDS DO NOT BLOCK UV - you will still burn on an overcast day.
For the rest of the numbers, log and track to see how each affects you personally.
If I remember I will repost this one more time in June7 -
@TheMrWobbly my gut feeling is that I'd be willing to travel as soon as restrictions are lifted, if my travel were primarily outdoor related like hiking, etc. I think crowds and the inevitable difficulty in trying to limit crowds would make many indoor things not worth it. Oh, and the plane, I forgot about that part, I don't know. I would be able to quarantine myself over the summer, but when fall starts I wouldn't be able to do that so I wouldn't travel. I actually would like to go to Canada in July for an event, and it's not far for me (from NY state), but it may still not be possible to cross the border.
@brittanystebbins95 oh, ouch! sorry about the bad sunburn! I got a little burned the other day and it surprised me, but a good reminder that I need to vigilant with the sunscreen. Good summer reminders @PastorVincent. It was just winter last week, so who knew. Anyway, Brittany, you've done great so don't beat yourself up about a numeric goal. Just keep moving when and how you can.
@Tramboman don't anger those running gods. Myelf, lol. Sorry about your leg cramps. Charley horses are the worst.
Nice running this month @Teresa502!
@quilteryoyo you are a hardcore rain runner! And @skippygirlsmom too! And I feel like someone else mentioned running in the rain today.
@Faebert great work and fab consistency with your strength training and running!

I did my long run this morning because of various weekend plans and weather predictions. A friend was doing her long run at 7 am, and while I really didn't want to start that early I took the opportunity for company. It was what she likes to call "a very sedate pace" as she has just recovered from injury and is easing back into things. The weather was beautiful, but getting warm so I was glad to have it done early.
The rest of the day was busy. I finished planting my little container garden and some mosses and pampas grass I got for a couple of areas in my backyard. Then I realized I had an important zoom meeting in 7 MINUTES, and took the fastest shower ever, got dressed and would have been only like a minute late, but my internet froze up. So at least I then had technical problems to blame my tardiness on.
I had to work the rest of the day, but am now enjoying a very pleasant evening out on the patio with a beer, enjoying looking at my new little garden.11 -
Sounds like a nice day @katharmonic .1

@quilteryoyo ! Bad Kitten! Nooo! You did it! Rain or shine, like the post office! So you get wet. Then you dry. Then you do it again. Very gritty 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
@PastorVincent Dang.. if I slow down I might as well just strap on the shoes, grab a cold one and turn on Hulu. Can’t get much slower or I won’t be moving😜. But yes!!! Good advice about the sun and heat!
Happy Friday y’all!
Celebrating my daughter’s college graduation tomorrow....we will stream it on TV. Weird times. Gotta suck it up. I will be imbibing adult beverages and celebrating her hard work! Hook’em 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Ahhhh look what just arrived!
Looks brand new!
That was amazing, I didn't expect it back for a couple of weeks!
ETA I think they decided to just replace it, because the dispatch note is dated 7 May, the day the product return email came through, so they must have just waited for my watch to arrive before sending out a new one.12 -

YAY!
They most likely replaced it with a refurb. Basically someone else's broke, they sent theirs in and got a replacement, then their broken one was repaired and sent to you. Now yours is being repaired to be sent to someone else. Kind o like the circle of life I guess It allows for speedy "repairs" from the perspective of the customer.3 -

Lol yeah likely. And doesn't bother me.
And im immediately noticing a difference. This one was set to go within minutes. The last one always took forever to sync, it didn't bother me too much, but I suspect that was the underlying issue. I'll see how it goes could be a coincidence, but there you have it.2 -
