Happy Anniversary @HonuNui and @shanaber! Awesome snorkeling pictures!
I have to agree on summer running being better than winter running. I will complain about the heat, but if I had to choose I would rather run when it is too warm as opposed to too cold. Of course if I got to choose it would always be around 55°F when I was running.2 -

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! 😃 It has been raining on and off all morning and it a nice 86. Had a late start but got another 3.13 for the books 👍🏼.
Before Covid, my husband, son and I were participating in 5k at least (3) weekends a month for 5-6 months. My guys would run and I started walking. We would travel to different towns in our state, miss it a lot!!!
In the meantime, I got a new Proform Recumbant Bike and I’m hoping to add a 30 minute bike ride each day (working upto an hour) to go along with my 3.1 mil. I have an account with Ifit for my Recumbant, Treadmill & Strider but not exactly sure how to use it, any suggestions????

@skippygirlsmom I think that was me. I got mine in the mail, but haven't opened it yet. I was going to wait until I got closer to race time. Do you know when you are going to run your race? Which one did you sign up for?
@jntollaware I had Ifit for my treadmill, but never used it because my internet is so slow and spotty. So, I'm no help. Sorry.0 -

OH COME ON GARMIN! I just ran 14 miles with a heat index of 114F and Garmin says I am DE-TRAINING.6

My coach tells me to ignore this function. He says Garmin should stick to what they know as they’re excellent at it. Interpreting performance data, however, is not something they know. I often get retraining or maintaining from Garmin but my results on Training Peaks, the app my coach uses, shows my fitness steadily progressing.5 -

That is what mine does too. A higher HR at lower pace is classed as detraining even if it is due to heat instead of poor physical condition.0 -

I guess that makes sense. They already pull the weather report for each run. They should use that to adjust their formulas.1 -
Missed a couple of days so I’m very far behind. Have read to catch up but too much info to retain in one go! Sending out love, hearty welcome, sympathy and congratulations as needed to all you awesome people.
I’ve lost a bit of consistency in my training due to some work stuff so need to pick that up. The good news is with fewer runs I’ve been able to stretch myself more on distance. So I think I’m still on track for my monthly goal...

0711-9.5k, total-30.2k goal-80k
Wanted 10km but it was really humid. Since I don't count walking breaks, I ran out of road at 9.5km and didn't have the mental energy to go out for a 500 meter loop. Meh.janejellyroll wrote: »@PastorVincent I love bald eagles! I hope you have another spotting.
I agree -- if I HAD to choose one over the other, I would choose summer running over winter running. I did a February marathon in New Orleans a couple of years ago, but I was training in Minnesota and I don't know if I would do that again. I run through the winter, but doing the long runs marathon training calls for was very difficult.
Winter training all the way for me. I guess it's because we don't get really extreme winter weather over here, no deep snow or plunging temps. Summer is just one long long sufferfest though...4 -
So. Freaking. Hot. 80F / 80% humidity / 76F dew point / just a whisper of hot south wind.
Did 18 x 1:30/2:00 walk/run intervals. It ended up coming in at just over 5 miles. Foot felt pretty good, but still let me know it was still there.

Mid 60s F, breezy, and rainy today. Back felt as good as it has in a month, but was careful not to push too hard. Actually, was really tired so not pushing hard was easy.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020

Happy Hot Saturday!
No running to report - doing a 2 hour Hill Climb challenge tomorrow so I have to rest my legs.
Happy anniversary, both marital and MFP and love the pictures etc.
I don't mind summer running when I can get out early. We have this marvelous natural springs in Austin (Barton Springs Pool) that stays at about 70 degrees year round. We would go do our longer runs (Lol for me that is maybe 5-6 miles) and then meet back at the springs and jump in. Such an incredible recovery. There are people who have not missed a day of dipping/swimming in years, including winters. I am convinced the waters are magical and I come out younger. Wishful thinking? That is how I can handle hot summer runs. Unfortunately, Covid has gotten in the way and its currently closed as is our trail. Here is a a pics of my favorite place, with one of my fav people - my kid! Happy Saturday!7 -

Yeah, I mean if I did not live where temps fall below 0F (-18C) I might think about winter running differently.0 -

Exactly what I was thinking earlier.... I WAY prefer winter, but then the Costa del Sol doesn't exactly have hard winters...2 -
It's a horse apiece for me. Cold; snowy; hot; rainy; humid; dry -- I can usually find something to be unhappy about, but I try to find the positivity in still being able to run.5

I think I prefer running in the summer, as long as it isn’t in the middle of the day. I don’t really like all of the layers you have to wear in winter.
4 miles today as I start somewhat training for my half in September. Not super concerned because I know I can run the distance. I would like a decent time though, but I’m sure I won’t PR since it is the middle of summer. I can try my best to get there though!5
