Happy Anniversary @HonuNui and @shanaber! Awesome snorkeling pictures!

I have to agree on summer running being better than winter running. I will complain about the heat, but if I had to choose I would rather run when it is too warm as opposed to too cold. Of course if I got to choose it would always be around 55°F when I was running.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! 😃 It has been raining on and off all morning and it a nice 86. Had a late start but got another 3.13 for the books 👍🏼.

Before Covid, my husband, son and I were participating in 5k at least (3) weekends a month for 5-6 months. My guys would run and I started walking. We would travel to different towns in our state, miss it a lot!!!

In the meantime, I got a new Proform Recumbant Bike and I’m hoping to add a 30 minute bike ride each day (working upto an hour) to go along with my 3.1 mil. I have an account with Ifit for my Recumbant, Treadmill & Strider but not exactly sure how to use it, any suggestions????

@skippygirlsmom I think that was me. I got mine in the mail, but haven't opened it yet. I was going to wait until I got closer to race time. Do you know when you are going to run your race? Which one did you sign up for?

@jntollaware I had Ifit for my treadmill, but never used it because my internet is so slow and spotty. So, I'm no help. Sorry.

OH COME ON GARMIN! I just ran 14 miles with a heat index of 114F and Garmin says I am DE-TRAINING.

That is what mine does too. A higher HR at lower pace is classed as detraining even if it is due to heat instead of poor physical condition.

I guess that makes sense. They already pull the weather report for each run. They should use that to adjust their formulas.

Missed a couple of days so I’m very far behind. Have read to catch up but too much info to retain in one go! Sending out love, hearty welcome, sympathy and congratulations as needed to all you awesome people.

I’ve lost a bit of consistency in my training due to some work stuff so need to pick that up. The good news is with fewer runs I’ve been able to stretch myself more on distance. So I think I’m still on track for my monthly goal...

    July total: 29.5m
    July goal: 75m

    2/6: 6.2m
    3/6: Strength training
    4/6: rest
    5/6: 9m
    6/6: Strength training
    7/6: rest
    8/7: 6.3m
    9/7: Strength training
    10/7: rest
    11/7 8m

    0711-9.5k, total-30.2k goal-80k

Wanted 10km but it was really humid. Since I don't count walking breaks, I ran out of road at 9.5km and didn't have the mental energy to go out for a 500 meter loop. Meh.
@PastorVincent I love bald eagles! I hope you have another spotting.

I agree -- if I HAD to choose one over the other, I would choose summer running over winter running. I did a February marathon in New Orleans a couple of years ago, but I was training in Minnesota and I don't know if I would do that again. I run through the winter, but doing the long runs marathon training calls for was very difficult.

Winter training all the way for me. I guess it's because we don't get really extreme winter weather over here, no deep snow or plunging temps. Summer is just one long long sufferfest though...

    July Total: 70k
    July Goal: 170k

    January Total: 161k
    February Total: 167k
    March Total: 181k
    April Total: 191k
    May Total: 200k
    June Total: 156k

    2020 Total through June: 1056k

Mid 60s F, breezy, and rainy today. Back felt as good as it has in a month, but was careful not to push too hard. Actually, was really tired so not pushing hard was easy.

When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
    Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020

Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders

    2020 races:

9-19 Race for the Parks 5k, Hudson, OH
10-11 Haunted Hustle 5k, Aurora, OH

Yeah, I mean if I did not live where temps fall below 0F (-18C) I might think about winter running differently.

Exactly what I was thinking earlier.... I WAY prefer winter, but then the Costa del Sol doesn't exactly have hard winters...
