Such wonderful photos! Wish now that I had taken few photos yesterday. We also has a small get-together yesterday, just one of my sons, his fiancé, hubby & I. My Son and his beautiful bride to be made a fantastic dinner (at our home), Cornish Game Hens on the BBQ, Mexican Rice and plenty of veggies on the side... oh and some French bread with Brie and homemade Bruschetta... they can really cook! It was all delicious and fairly healthy. We also had some good wine, I had about 3 glasses, well worth it. Sounds kinda like @Lilylady3k and I had a similar celebration!
@dawnbgethealthy I am envious of how close you live to such beauty... how wonderful that you got surprised with two of your past friends! I agree, you should use your new photo, I would also frame it an put it on your wall.
@MissMay that is an incredible cake! Did you make this for a wedding? Such talent!
About the Angry Face button, I took notice that when I am scrolling through posts on my phone, if I am not careful, I can easily hit the button without even knowing it...
My 7 day goal results, Sat - Fri... 6 AF / 7 days... a little hiccup on Thursday, but got back on track Friday.
I had my planned wine yesterday, all good and under control... I like the idea of going for 7 day goals. So for my next Sat - Fri, goal 6 AF / 7 days (I already used my drinking day yesterday, so 6 more to go!4 -
Still at 12 AF for the month....but feeling optimistic
Wow I love everyone's pictures. What a nice looking family @Lilylady3k !
Thanks for the cake @MissMay, I can imagine how yummy
@dawnbgethealthy I will visit you when Covid is over OK? We can have a mojito party when the mint season is in full swing. Plus, I still need to reschedule that canceled flight to Calgary to visit National Parks nearby, so you are not too far.3 -
Oct 1-7: 12ish drinks, 4 AF days
Oct 8-14: 4 drinks, 4 AF days
Oct 15-21: 9.5 drinks, 2 AF days
Oct 22: 5 drinks
Oct 23: AF
Oct 24: AF
Made an effort to not drink Friday and wasn't very interested yesterday. I've got to log 3 more AF days to hit my goal this month, so I'm thinking about just powering through them so Wed-Sat can be flexible. Pre-logging my week says I don't have calories for drinks anyway. I'd really like to get a very good, very strict week in since the first week of November will be off the rails: husband and I booked a cabin for a long weekend in Oklahoma (hopefully more hiking than drinking!), and then my friend is visiting for a few days. I've been planning all the things we're going to eat, and it will be so delicious, but omg the calories! Sri Lankan stir fry, a cheese board w/ wine, pumpkin bourbon cheesecake, sushi, kielbasa spaetzle, chocolate croissants...
@looneycatblue I've got pretty bad degenerative disc disease that was misdiagnosed for 3 years and has been actively treated for another 3 years without improvement. Low back/leg pain that I primarily manage by limiting my activity. It sounds like you had a lovely celebration, brie is the best cheese!
@LoveyChar Wow, you've been through a lot, glad you've come out of all of it ok. My mom had a similar breast cancer scare this year, but thankfully it was nothing. 2020 just likes to keep throwing those curveballs...
@MissMay THAT CAKE IS STUNNING. There's baking, and then there's creating works of art, and you fall into the artist category for sure!
There's 3 days a year that are definitely freebies on the food and booze: your birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (or the holidays your country/religion celebrates). Celebrating with your loved ones and enjoying the moment is more important than your food journal or the scale or whatever. Have those moments. Glad to see you lovely ladies enjoyed yourselves thoroughly.
I hate the disagree button. I got a disagree on my last post that I can only assume is an accident, how do you disagree with someone's extremely personal experiences?? It's mildly useful here for making it obvious when someone is posting junk science, but other than that it's just a way to bring negativity into a place where people are already struggling and often are carrying a bunch of emotional baggage. I wish they'd throw that thing in the trash.
Good luck to everyone in their last week of October!8 -

Yes, visit,100%!!
Vaccines will be approved and rolled out eventually. I imagine that they will be a prerequisite to crossing any borders. I am really itching to travel.
I wonder if you might be planning to hike around Banff, Jasper, Yoho and the like.
I would totally meet up with you and try to keep up with you on the trails : - )
I am about 5-ish hours from Calgary.
Lots of good trails and hiking around here too though, and fresh food from my garden : - )
Something to look forward to : - )

Might have to edit the picture first cropping it so that you have the right perspective before changing your profile pic. Or shrink it. I'm not great at editing LOL Good luck!

I like your "think'n for less drink'n" in November @Cher3212 keep popping on in if you would like our support.
Last Monday of October crew. It seems to me to have gone rather fast.
I attend an event yesterday for a few hours of creative paint time. It was held at a beautiful venue, with of course plenty of safe social distancing enforced. It gave off a festive almost wedding /party vibe with the newly decorated room. The old drinking me would have found this a prime time excuse to get my drink on.
I did not order alcohol, I had ginger ale and my painting came out so darn cute. Very pleased. I believe I have the needed willpower not to follow the pack. I did not then after the event go down stairs to the other area to continue drinking like some did.
Thanks for the cake compliments, yes to whom asked, it was for a wedding. Served 165 people. Chocolate decadent cake with raspberry smear on each cake layer and filled with dark chocolate ganache. The out side was 11 pounds of Belgium white chocolate. Just a little hobbie I liked to do in my spare time.🤪

13 days AF. No wining or whining yesterday. Inspired by @LoveyChar, I ran for 75 minutes Sunday and the natural anti-depressant effects kicked in and lasted all day long. Woo-hoo.8

Hahaha, thanks and nice run! Definitely no whining because there's too much to be grateful for, seems our complaints are minor in contrast to what they could be. I didn't run on Friday or Saturday but I did get 10 miles in yesterday. Felt high as a kite happy, amazing what a good hard run will do!6 -
2 glasses of wine while cooking, dinner & cards Now on to more water to round out my day.

I really normally go to different places each day, but I am drawn to watching the ice form where I will skate, so I have been going back to the same trails every day lately.
Haha, let me know if I am posting too many photos : - )
Still a bit of open water, but not as much as yesterday.
It was +3 Celsius here today (around 37F ?) but is -10 at nights - to make ice : - )
This part is all frozen obviously.
I was around the other side of the lake and when I got back to the parking lot I couldn't believe it. There is still open water in spots and yet...
Crazy Canuck family! They were near the shore, but still!
I will be digging my skates and stuff out of the shed on Wednesday, I won't skate until I can skate all over the entire lake...and not run into open water or fall through thin ice.

@chocolate_owl: speaking of junk science. If anyone is interested in a credible, succinct, and not hysterical podcast about SARS CoV-2 you should check out Dr. Micheal Osterholm's weekly COVID-19 update. Search for CIDRAP, (Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy) out of the Univ of Minnesota. The link is on the first page. They do it on Thursdays. He is sane, evidence-based, and has the ability to translate confusing public health data/information into real life applications, without being too depressing or stupidly optimistic.
Doxmum is on sabbatical until after the election.3 -
Woot woot look at these beautiful new profile pics from @dawnbgethealthy and @LoveyChar.
@Lilylady3k is rocking her accountability check ins.
@FeelinFooFoo no one says you can't check in here with us too. We will support you just as much. By the way have you looked into sober is sexy? I think you would enjoy that as well. I am giving you a huge hug, I know your struggle has been very difficult no matter how much effort you put into cutting back. Plugging for you 100%. ❤
LESS ALCOHOL~ MORE EXERCISE
I am not a runner....(ski accident when I was 22 claimed a ligament in my knee). Yet all of these enthusiastic posts about running gets me fired up and motivated. I can walk for miles at a good clip. I do not like to use inside track at YMCA, I would rather take a trail walk/hike on one of the donated land trust spots. Although we are now getting into deer hunting season and I would not want to get shot while exercising.
I do love to ice skate and roller skate. I owned street skates when I was 19. A gal pal and I flew to Florida and our transportation while there for a week was getting around on our skates. Lovey flat terrain made it easy. And as for ice skating, I lived on a large pond for a few Winters. Every morning that the pond was safe, I would skate the pond while my dog followed along happily keeping me company.
Ok enough chit chat. Headed to go workout.💪
Oh yeah another AF day yesteday. 21 AF so far. 🎃6 -

14 days AF. Monday was another no-wining day. And inspired by @MissMay, I hit the barbell for about 15-20 minutes.
I also quit worrying about all the things that are totally out of my control and feel so much better. I do this by spending a few minutes each morning stretching and telling myself this. It's a good stress relief, maybe a sort of meditation. From this practice, I quit the morning news check without consciously thinking about it.
@dawnbgethealthy I can connect with you offline during late winter so we can touch base. We need to hit it before "fire season". Possible we can meet you in Cranbrook and spend the day nearby, maybe Fernie. I am sure you know about the good places.

A list we can explore? 100 most popular non alcoholic beverages in the world. I've only tried about 14 of these listed ... mostly types of coffee or tea. Fun to read all the descriptions and origins. I need to search for Julmust (Christmas juice) and see if anyone around here carries it (Ikea). Description of Julmust: Swedish soft drink ... dark, sweet soda that has many similarities to both Coca-Cola and Root Beer. It is made up of sugar and water and there is hop extract and malt ... but the spices are a secret. Two of the biggest Julmust brands in Sweden are Nygårda and Apotekarnes.
