Thank you @lorrainquiche59 and @RubyRed427. ❤
Ruby congratulations on the 100 days! What a weekend! You did it girl! Youll have a nice Xmas breakfast with the kids no matter what!!5 -
@RubyRed427 That mantra about "In one year I will be happy that I_______"is very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
@donimfp I am extremely jealous of your ability to tackle every drawer. I have more junk drawers than not. Last night I found a credit card while looking for a book in my bed side table that I had no clue where it had gone. I think I will combine these two things, Ruby and Doni's, and hopefully have an organized house in a year!
Today's gratitude: sitting on the sofa with my dogs, enjoying my pretty tree and a cup of coffee with no hangover. I will never not be grateful for a hangover free morning.9 -
I am finding now I am cutting down it's the smell of alcohol that puts me off!6

I was on an instagram sober girl's site and she posted a video; she was quite emotional because not only is she focused on sobriety but also works with those who are alcoholics. Anyway, she was saying how the new Tropicana campaign/hashtag is about "mommy needing her juice". And it glorifies how you can sneak your alcohol in your OJ- you deserve "mommy time".
I have to agree with the instagrammer; it is quite disgusting that they would encourage and suggest moms need alcohol to make it through the day.
Second comment: I saw a glass for sale in a gift shop that said "F&*k my liver, let's drink".
I guess when you're on this end of addiction (like me), these things are more sad than funny.

Tropicana Helps Parents Find a Moment of Brightness with a Mimosa
#TakeAMimoment in the closet, in the basement, and even in the bathroom
Eighty-seven percent of moms and dads agree that parenting has become so hectic this year that sometimes they just need a moment for themselves. In fact, nearly half (49%) admit that they hide out in the bathroom to get it*.
Tropicana helps parents find a moment of brightness - wherever and whenever they can - by creating incognito mini fridges filled with the makings for mimosas, to provide parents with the ultimate "Mimoment" for themselves.
The brand has partnered with busy parents Gabrielle Union, Molly Sims, and Jerry O'Connell to share the importance of taking a moment for yourself while still taking care of your family.

THAT is disturbing!!
@RubyRed427 I must have missed your milestone...Congrats 100 days...you GO girl!!5 -
I got the first of a few bottles of wine from a client today that are gifted to me through the holidays. My friends husband died a few days ago...he had been sick & battling prostate cancer for a few years & now his battle is over. SO, I re-gifted the wine to my friend and dropped it off this evening. She is a moderate drinker, no issue with the drink. When I re-gift wine it is only to those who do not have a problem...that is my rule!
I am so sick to death of death...it's been a long couple of years and so much sadness.
This too shall pass but right now it sucks!!!8 -
@RubyRed427 That is totally disturbing. I too, am disgusted by signs/napkins,etc. that glorify drinking. Someone gave me one once and it immediately went in the trash. That whole OJ mimosa thing too is also gross.2

The mimosa things is encouraging us to drink in secret, hide our booze, lie, etc.
It is also saying our reward is alcohol for working hard.
That was my reward for a decade and I dont want that to be my reward any longer.

Feeling good about myself.10 -
I am thinking my weight gain can be attributed to my additive personality. I crave that dopamine kick!
I have had zero alcohol for 101 days now. It's non-negotiable for me.
Why can't I do that with sweets or salty snacks? I am going to have to view sweets like alcohol- abstain from it.
Use the tools I learned from working through cravings involving alcohol and apply them to working through cravings involving sugar.7 -

Your not alone. I am blowing it lately. I came home from work and ate chocolate cake and a half bag of gold fish🐠. I skip meals for junkfood. And on top if that I complain Im tired all the time. Im sure my diet is most of the issue.
Dont beat yourself up. Youve accomplished alot. Some days I remind myself...in the old days Id have to add a good 1000 maybe more in beer calories to that total. Then I dont feel so bad. There's a bright side to everything!

Recently I have been nauseous and I am sure it's the junk food.
Let's get back on track tomorrow.

I just had a big bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup. This is not great for my weight loss goals but it is better than wine.

I am at my lowest in 20 years so something is working and the silly thing is I am eating more, crazy!

As a mom to 2 Irish twins I've been sucked into that way of thinking which spiraled out of control. I was listening to a podcast which I've been loving (it's called Love Sober) these 2 moms created it and they focused one episode on the "epidemic" of the "mommy juice" stuff and how they had to stop hanging out with certain mom's during play dates for the sake of their sobriety, etc.
Anyways, checking in, had a slip up/bad one Sunday. I realized though how *kitten* it made me feel and how it was not worth it (big step for me!) Meal prepped this week, made my homemade sipping bone broth, decorated with my kiddos and fur-baby. Annnnd....on another note: AFTER 3 YEARS MY DIVORCE IS FINAL!!!!! WOOHOOOO9 -
I just watched a 10 min YouTube video entitled, "The Best Explanation of Addiction I've Ever Heard" ~ Gabor Mate ~ I have no idea how to link it here so if anyone is interested it is a good watch. This is an amazing man and has so much compassion for addicts. Although he highlights drug use mostly, it applies to any substance cause as we know it isn't the substance itself, but the reason why people use a substance whether it is drugs, alcohol or anything else....food even. If anyone decides to watch it I hope you will comment here.4

You go Foo Foo!!!9

I’m 65!! Plus 165 days sober. I feel 10 years younger than I did last year on this day. #Thankful.8

@FeelinFooFoo your wracking up alot of days great job.3

I just saw that Tropicana issued an apology for their mimosa campaign. Apparently they got quite a lot of backlash.4

My favorite is this conversation:
“You’re not drinking?”
“No, I quit.”
“Hmm, probably not a bad idea.” Chugs booze rest of night.
Or:
“I don’t drink anymore.”
“I don’t drink any more either. Or any less! Bwahaha!”
Teehee, it is to laugh...4 -
@FeelinFooFoo Good for you! I am sure they are both feeling wretched today while you feel fresh and clear headed.4

No thanks. I am done living that way.
I was worried when I heard your brother was drinking too. I have a soft spot for him being so young. Was he the one sick?
Hooray! No hangover and you still had fun.5 -

Little by little making progress.
All that time I gained by not sitting on a bar stool after work or on Saturday. One Saturday I went to a bar after Target at 2:00 p.m. and stayed there til 8:00. I have zero limits - One drink is too many and 10 drinks not enough.
Now, I wish I saved that cash in a piggy bank or something.
