I much prefer lowkey xmases overall, with 2 or 4 people I really want to be with, really present. In regular times I can usually meet up with a friend or two but it's just not an option this year. Glad to have met up with my friend on Wednesday for a drink though.
I'm probably physically tired from the 1h relatively fast cycling on stationary bike yesterday evening.
Stayed up way way too late watching series online last night. I totally lost a sense of time and it was already ridiculously late, so I knew I'd be out of rhythm today. Thought I'd at least go for a walk in morning or midday.
The pouring rain and wind is not helping in motivation. (The storm is named "Bella"). We are getting gusts in Paris up to 95kph. That's quite high for here, where cyclones are very very very rare. All parks are closed today.
Made a soup with the left over chicken bones and skin as stock, with a big onion and some carrots. I always love such soups.

I really don’t like this not exercising, but the other day Colby was up at 4am. Evidently, there was a problem at work that he needed to give attention to. So it's not even like I can get up early and exercise. Plus…my foot so it’s really a blessing in disguise. How I wish I could exercise in the water!!!
Debbie CA – I’m so sorry this happens to you with MIL.
Barbara – I’ve learned never to use True Lemon or True Lime with stevia. Wish more stores carried it, tho (without the stevia). I’m grateful that I can get it at Publix. I could swear I saw it at Food Lion. Well, the next time I work I’ll ask the gal who I know would know.
SuziQ – how wonderful that you concentrated on the good things that happened to you in 2020 and not the bad! What did Charlie do about the hairline fractures that weren’t detected on the x-ray?
Vince ordered Turbo Tax yesterday. Boo! Started taking boxes out to the garage for them to sit a bit and then Vince will probably break some down for recycling. That’s what always happens
I do wish I could get Vince to make a mini-goal for taking down/putting up the Christmas decorations. Like “get two of the trees up” then “get lights on one tree”
Lanette – I’ll go to the docs office to get the foot x-rayed on Jan 6 (remember, they were closed when I went Dec. 22?). If the x-ray doesn’t show anything, I am thinking that maybe I should ask for an MRI. Well, first I’m going to try not wearing the boot for a bit, then resting for a bit, then walking, etc. If my toes still hurt, I’m going to ask for an MRI
Been cold here for this area. Was about 18 yesterday morning. As you can guess, I didn’t do my job outside, I made sure to clean the carts in the store. Oh, speaking of cleaning…do you know that the kids working at night left two bottles of sanitizer outside? Of course, it was frozen solid. I took it to the back and defrosted it and put new stuff in it. Many times freezing something will change the way it works. And it’s not like Food Lion is going to go broke. They might go broke if it’s used, it doesn’t work, and someone contracts c-19 there. Of course, how can you prove they caught it there? Well, I’m just going to be on the cautious side anyway. I swear, I must be the only person who fills those bottles. So many times when I come in the bottles are totally empty. It used to be that I only worked 2 maybe 3 days. I just looked back and for the past month or so it’s been 4 days/week. Well, it’s never more than 4-1/2 hours
Bananas – when I first started on my weight loss journey, I did the 5/2 and it really helped me. Eventually, I went to 6/1 then 7/0. But 5/2 is a good start.
Now gotta think of what to have for dinner on NYE. Ken and Lynette usually come over. Need to have something pork -- never foul.
I bet Jess and Colby don't leave today. Here it is, 9:30, and they're still asleep. Oh well........

Sue in WA: Nessa the labradoodle is a cutie! I love seeing the snow. We haven’t had snow on the ground here for a long time. DH says it was 2017.
Barbara: We rented Auntie Mame through Amazon Prime. It cost a whopping $3. We watched with our son’s family in Virginia and our daughter’s family in Illinois. We are in Oregon. It feels like magic to watch this favorite old movie together as a family.
Terri: Your skype gift opening is a great idea.
Heather: I’m happy you were able to chat with your brother & his wife. :flowerforyou:
Allie: Congratulations on waking up in your own bed! “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home—” Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ
I have no plans for today, so far. Tomorrow I plan to go to the Les Schwab Tire store and get my tires looked at. I’m hopeful that there is nothing to worry about. The other item I need is a new windshield wiper for the back window of my car. DH has ordered it and it should arrive via Fed X or UPS.

We had storm Bella last night. Thought the roof was going to blow off! This morning dawned bright and clear and we went out for a gorgeous walk on the seafront in the bright sunshine. Lots of people out and about and loads of dogs.
The sea was coming in with long rollers. One loan paddleboarder was cresting the waves! Wow!
On Sundays we go a different way, through a small park and round the Lagoon. Still 5k though.
Tandoori chicken tonight, pak choi, raita.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx9 -
Just received this from DDIL . These are the pyjamas I got for the girls. They keep guinea pigs, so really wanted them.

Machka - congratulations it was nice seeing you walk across the stage.
Annie - I think your Mom having an assessment is a great idea. Sorry to read your Dad may have fallen victim to a scammer.
It’s hard to confront your parents but it may be getting to the point where you need to take charge more and that will inevitably lead to confrontation. I don’t envy you at all.
Barbie - I didn’t enjoy Great Christmas Light Fight this year either and didn’t watch through to the end. I didn’t think of setting the volume to mute.
Katla - Heather - Barbara- I’m here! It had gotten incredibly stressful at work and I just couldn’t bring myself to keep caught up and comment for the last couple or 3 weeks. I had to go back to page 35 to start to catch up.
We had a fairly substantially sized Outbreak at work. 60+ cases all told between staff and residents. We lost some residents but no staff. Residents are tested every 5 days and staff every 7, so far I have tested negative for 6 weeks now and today I had the first injection of the Phizer vaccine. We only got added to the list of recipients on Tuesday and some were getting them on Thursday. So far I feel fine from it and am feeling very blessed.
We were restricted from having any gatherings so Christmas wasn’t what it usually is, but I enjoyed the day just the same. We are hoping to have a large family gathering as soon as we are able.
Debbie - I hope your girls are both doing ok. Hugs to you, I can’t imagine as how torn you feel as a Mother.
Pip - I haven’t lost a husband, but I found the anniversary of my Dad’s passing very hard this year. My husband doesn’t understand how I can get down about it after 8 years. Hugs to you.
Allie - I’m happy to hear that you are doing better. I couldn’t rest in heal in all the noise either.
Heather - love the pics of your grandchildren.
Karen - I wonder if two days a week would be enough. I am doing a lot of the tracking at work and people can be negative and just a couple days later be positive. I’ve seen it over and over.
Suzi - I understand your feelings. I am often the one to reach out to most family and friends, after a while you wonder if anyone would ever check up on you. I’ve learned they don’t.
I too have gotten rid of all of my larger clothes and now need to reign it in because things are tight and I can’t buy new bigger clothes again.
Katla - your tree is very pretty
Machka - I force myself to relax every day. Sometimes it’s just shutting everything off and sitting in the silence for a few minutes. Most nights it’s a bath. I am not a part of any clubs and I have relaxed my expectations of housework during the week. I clean on Saturday or Sunday and during the week only worry about dishes and supper.
Flea - I’m glad you mentioned the venison in mincemeat pies. I thought that’s what they were, I have never made mincemeat and I don’t eat it, but my MIL sends for my husband whenever she can so I have made pies.
Here it is young 20-30 year olds causing the most spread by not following restrictions. I hope your Mom remains healthy.
Heather - I have taken to shopping more on Amazon and online since this mess has started. I agree it’s probably not the best, but to be able to not have to go out out looking for a particular item is a blessing right now.
I do shop for my groceries here locally and I shopped a couple small local stores for Christmas gifts.
Flea - those lights were beautiful at your resort. I love your husband’s sense of humour.
Machka - I don’t think they know how to make good movies anymore. They just keep trying to recycle old ones.
Rebecca - your card swag looks beautiful.
Beth - that’s a carrot you won’t soon forget.
Okie - my daughter was talking about taking her Christmas decorations down yesterday too.
Debbie - I’m sorry your holiday was ruined again by your MIL. Can you just refuse to be a part of it?
I don’t think your husband should feel obligated. He should stop the visits for a while and see if her behaviour changes.
Here in AB if you are positive you can return to normal activities on the 11th day after your swab date as long as you are symptom free for 10 days. If you have been in contact with a positive person you must isolate for 14 days regardless of test results.
I have learned how well the PPE works.
We had a FB video chat for our Christmas with the girls and their families in the 20th. Our Son in Law worked Christmas Day this year so we had been planning on the 20th anyway. Michaela thought her jewelry box was drawers for her dolls clothes. Rodger is not happy with how it turned out so is working on another one for her.
I finished the stockings for Rodger and I, his wasn’t complete until 730 pm Christmas Eve but there was still time to get it stuffed so that’s all that matters.
We had a steak barbecue for our Christmas dinner that Rodger cooked. I didn’t even bake the pie I promised. I bought one from the bakery instead.
Today I am making a treat that is a NB tradition and hopefully getting it delivered to my girls and some friends.
It’s nice to be back and hopefully I’ll keep caught up again. Here are some pictures of a card from my Mom that means so much to me, the jewelry box and the stockings.

I’m going for the positive side here. Tired of living in the negative. Had a nice video chat with DS and DGS1! DGS gave us a wonderful concert on his keyboard. He plays much better than I expected! Kid is talented!
My DMD got engaged (found out through FB)
Had an enjoyable call from my DD1. And a call from my uncle. Also had good long chat with mom.
Christmas quiet here but pleasant. No gift exchange with DH, but received gifts from park people. I feel more relaxed now that it is over.
Bladder pain has eased since removing caffeine. Still waiting to hear from urologist.

Hello dear ladies. We had a very quiet Christmas, just Jack and I. That's the first time in the 14 years we've had together that we have been by ourselves. I'm so ready for all this to be over. Other than that we are doing well, as is our extended family, for which I am truly thankful.
We had 6" of snow the week before Christmas, very rare here, so I went out and built a snowman, Jack thinks I must be going through my second childhoid.
Love to all.

Janetr nice to see you post! I love your snowman!
Rita I'm trying to figure out who DMD is that got engaged. Great picture of your grandsons.

I was supposed to get a haircut tomorrow at 9 but broken tooth is worrying me. (I'll spare the details).
my dentist retired and it's school vacation for another week, so it'll be hard to get most dentists.
I found one on line who seems to have good reviews but only had 9 or 9:30 free tomorrow. I wrote to cancel my hair appointment. I know they likely won't get the message and will come in at 9 for no appointment. I feel bad about that but it is an emergency situation.
The hairdressers is on the way so I can always pop tell them live.
Maybe that contributes to my feeling extra tired today.

Barbara: Auntie Mame was shared between ourselves & our adult children in Illinois and Virginia—internet magic allowed us to all watch at the same time. Our son and daughter engineered this treat and I am grateful. Our son used his computer skills to make this all happen.
(((Flea))) Terri Richards is correct. Your mom is in the right place for now. I hope all goes well for your mom and your family. :flowerforyou:
SuziQ: Congratulations on all of your progress in 2020! May 2021 be even better for you and for all of us.
(((Debbie in VA)))
Allie: Congrats on waking up in your own bed and getting your PT done. YAYYY!
Rori: I am happy to see you when you are able to stop in here. Mars is an amazing cat. He’s the only kitty I know about that walks on a leash. :flowerforyou:
Tracey: I am delighted to see your post and very happy that you’ve had the first injection of the Phizer vaccine. We expect to get that vaccine, too, but not until sometime in January at the earliest. :flowerforyou:
Janetr OKC: I am so happy that you have stopped by. You look lovely.
We have a bright, sunshiney day today. It lifts my mood.

Thanks, Mary, good to see you too. I think of you often. I'm still swinging my kettlebell but not every day. I had fun building the snowman. I wanted Jack to go out with me but he wouldn't. He was raised in Florida and not used to snow, me being from Denver, I love our occasional snow. He told me I'd fall and hurt myself so OF COURSE I had to show him I could do it.
