NON WW & WW NEWBIES, OUR NEW LIFE, THE START OF SOMETHING WONDERFUL

Afternoon all, I am hopefully not going to shut down again anytime soon. Life has thrown me some curve balls and I just decided not to try and bat, or I would be out..LOL. I have not put on weight,I still weigh the same as in Jan, but my clothes don't fit. So I think this is where the fat weighs less than muscle.
I was reading some of the post of the newbies. I have had a long history of weight issues, (mostly in my head my husband says). but my whole life I have done one fad or another. After breaking my knee, my weight was the highest it had been in years that was in the 90's...and I decided WW. I went , almost got to goal, quit, then went back got to goal and pretty much stayed there for years. However, I may be almost at my WW goal right now, but I am not healthy and I am not wearing my clothes well. So I have to figure this out and quit eating my emotions with ice cream. ( I can't give up the PB) LOL ...even the tears I have cried the last two weeks didn't help, I kept eating..LOL. Thank you for your support and how we can come here and build each other up and throw out ideas that are working for us and may help someone else. I try again today and I try again tomorrow,
@bsthorn1, @DonnasWay0805
btw glad to have 2 newbies aboard. It's good to see your post. I won't try to catch up on post, but know you guys have been on my mind, just didn't want to be a downer, cause I was and didn't get on to even read or post.

@teresaw1020 I bet you burned so many calories doing all that cleaning. I feel the same way about sheets. They are just thrown in my drawer into somewhat piles. I remember having to iron pillowcases as a child. I hated that. I'm proud to say sleeping on mildly wrinkled pillowcases doesn't bother me. Just work hard and you will get that lb off. It's probably just some sodium bloat.
@trooworld I got 50% Can you post the recipe for the feta cheese pasta? I love feta cheese. I've been doing much better this week. I think this every other day thing I'm doing is working for me right now. I've tracked every day since Thursday. I've been OP every day but Thursday.
@bsthorn1 Welcome to the group. I don't know about the macros as I usually don't look at them but once in awhile but my fat seems to be a bit higher and my protein is always too low. I just started an alternating plan of one day carb cycling tracking it on MFP and the next day I'm following WW Blue plan but I'm tracking it on the ibites app.
I don't do well on low carb diets consistently so I am using an alternating moderate-high carb plan. It worked well for me in 2019 and I lost 23 lbs from Aug to Jan. But I found this past year with covid worries I was having problems sticking to it and when I stayed on target I didn't necessarily eat the healthiest of foods. So I tried redoing the WW plan and found that I couldn't stick to it consistently without eating some of "my" food and going over target. So now I combined the two and started that this Thursday. So far so good.1 -
MFP is freaking out right now!

@RetiredAndLovingIt I'm glad you checked in with us and all is going well. Yeah, it definitely sounds that you better get to a dentist to find out what is going on with your mouth and the pain you are having. Good job on getting in your 10,000 steps! You must have had your daughter when you were a teenager.
@cbabie glad you are feeling up to checking in with us. I’ve been thinking about you.I do agree that there is much more to the number on the scale to determine our health. Stress is certainly not a healthy factor and it seems like you are constantly battling it. I hope that can change for you!
@trooworld I’ve been making some fashion mistakes too!I really don’t want to get to my goal weight, be 55 years old and look frumpy and out of touch. We gotta keep it fresh, girl!!
Good job on getting rid of things that you will never wear. If it doesn’t spark joy it needs to go!
@theslightedgeforever I am sure that all that cleaning did burn a lot of calories. I also think that my weight went up from water retention from using muscles that don’t normally get used. But yup it’s coming back off! How do you like your alternating eating plan so far?
Good morning! So, I was happy that the scale moved back down this morning. Not at my all-time lowest but heading there.Yesterday I thought about how to tweak my plan and did a bunch of reading on the protein sparing modified fast diet because I do think that lately, I've been eating too much fat. And since I have fat to lose, I need to get my body to focus on eating that instead of what I consume through food. However, after doing all that reading and trying to figure out my weekly menu and days where I would eat more and days where I would eat less, I concluded to chill out! Being rigid has never worked for me. I did however dust off my Carb Manager app and will track my macros for a while so I can keep my protein higher than my fats and carbs. I just want these last 30 lbs off and I want it this year!

Afternoon all, I woke up this morning, trying to figure out how to make the day different that the past few weeks. I wanted to get on the treadmill, as it has ALWAYS been my "safe" zone. I pray there, sing there, and just have always felt better after being on it. The last time I tried baby girl wouldn't let me get on it with out her...but today was different. I walked for 30 min.
. I know what works for me and it's time I put it into place. It may be a little at a time, but that's better than zero time. It's so nice out today!!
@theslightedgeforever Glad you are getting your groove back. LOL I remember ironing and MAKING those pillow cases..
@trooworld I love that walk you posted. How beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for the hugs...:)
@TeresaW1020 I agree with you being rigid never worked for me either...it does for a bit because I am a rule follower...but not for a long time. So I am to trying to keep it simple and make my life livable. LOL
@RetiredAndLovingIt You so inspire me with the steps..I used to ALWAYS get 10K, but I was also working LOL.

@retiredandlovingit Happy Bday to your dd. I bet they love the 60 degree weather in OK. My son is enjoying his 70 degree weather in houston now. You are doing great with your 10000 steps in Feb. How is your jaw/teeth?
@cbabie That's good that you are working on yourself. Glad you were able to get on the treadmill. You would think that now that you are home you would get more steps than just sitting at your desk.
@trooworld 50% Your walking trail looks like fun. I love walking in nature. Yeah on the scale continuing to go down. Sorry about the homeless lady but another perspective is that you helped someone in need and will get blessings for it. I always remember my mom saying But for the grace of God, there go I.
@teresaw1020 So what's happening with your MFP? I keep getting friend requests with racy pictures in them. At least if they are racy, let them be males.I'm loving my alternate eating plan so far. Of course it's only been since Thursday. lol If I happen to be on a point day and crave something I know if I just wait a day I could try and work it in on my carb day as that's a bit more forgiving. So I immediately going into my food diary and put it in there and start planning my day around it. Just keep tweaking and see which combination of plans work for you long term. Because we don't just have to lose this weight, we have to keep it off so we had better find a plan that we like. Yaaay on your scale going down too.
I lost 3.8 this week so that's good. May it continue
1 -
@theslightedgeforever Good grief!! I just changed my password so hopefully, the friend request will stop. This might explain why I’ve had several men request a friendship with me.
Yes, I totally agree that it’s not about getting the weight off as much as it is in keeping it off. I’ve never declared myself at goal weight in my life and I am NOT going to finally get there only to gain it back. But complacency will never be my friend. Congrats on your great loss this week!!
@trooworld Yikes! I don’t blame you for being upset that some woman was rifling through your car. That is awful! What’s up with nuking a frozen banana?
You will get back in control of your eating. I would hate to work where there were vending machines at my disposal. Although last week I was vacuuming the youth room and found their stash of chips. Those Cheetos tried to call my name but I told them to shut up!
@cbabie That is great that you were able to get in a good treadmill walk. I know I always feel better after my workout.
Hello! Mom and I went to Walmart today and they are remodeling the whole store. I’m sure it will look great once it’s done but it was sure a mess. From what I overheard from another customer they are planning on opening a lot more self-checkout. A good way to save them some money, I guess. I came home and cooked my dog her chicken that I put in her food every day and decided to have a little and made an egg white and mozzarella chaffle chicken sandwich. It was super yummy! Now, I need to go make a cup of coffee and finish this week’s Bible study chapter before our meeting tonight. Have a good day!

Morning all, I tracked all my food yesterday I got back on the treadmill today. I love walking on my treadmill. My baby girl just waved at me, so glad she is not trying to get on it with me now. LOL I am sitting outside on my patio, it's almost 70 right now.
@trooworld So sorry about the homeless person in your car. You know it's one day out of many in regards to the vending machine. I was on the phone today with a nutritionist in regards to baby girl..the main thing is we can't be restricted, we just need balance. You've got this.
@TeresaW1020 I laughed when I read you cooked the chicken and you had some...my dad always cooked for his dog. But he also fed his dog 1 slice of Hershey candy bar too..LOL I can see you in the youth room going... "CHEETOS SHUT UP". LOL. The Bible says Life and Death are in the tongue. LOL
@theslightedgeforever I forgot mom used to say that, but it's true...sounds like your plan is working and that's great!! You have always been the creative one. ;0

Hi all! My MFP app was acting weird. Wouldn’t let me log into community so I tried deleting the app and reinstall well app icon is gone but I can’t redownload but I can search for the app and it pops up? Idk technology sometimes evades me. Just a quick check in and hope everyone is well!

Another good day of staying OP. I was going to take a rest day today but ended up getting in 17 min of exercise anyway. Downside was water. Isn't it always. lol One day that will change. Be back tomorrow for some personals. I'm so glad tomorrow is a green day for me. I've had 4 days of red in a row.0
-
Morning all, I got 25 min walk in, but yesterdays food was not good. I tracked it and moved on. We rearranged the patio and back yard yesterday. It's too nice not to be able to enjoy outside. We moved all of baby girls outside toys to give her and us more room to enjoy.
@gemwolf110 glad you stopped in, sorry MFP is having issues..I think Teresaw1020 was yesterday.
@theslightedgeforever great job on staying OP and exercising even if it was unplanned.
@trooworld I ignore all my request...some have been there for years. I guss I should delete. LOL I swear my mind is always out of kilter
Cbabie1 -
@cbabie That is great that you got in your walk. It’s starting to be nice here to so we can sit outside, but we can’t. Because of the evil yellow pollen that is about to descend upon us. This weekend, DH and I are actually going to cover our furniture in plastic in the hopes of not having to scrub it once the pollen subsides. AND you know it was hard for me to tell those Cheetos to shut up!
@theslightedgeforever Good job on staying on plan! Enjoy your green day!
@gemwolf110 technology annoys me!! My app wasn’t working either and now my Apple watch is acting up. Ugghhh!!
@trooworld I also get men's requests on Pinterest, which I always delete. Have you gotten those? Yeah, chaffles are my jam! Today, I had a bacon sandwich with them. Sooo tasty! And Maggie Mae loves them too.You will get that scale to go down.
Hi everyone! Today is a beautiful day. I actually had the door open for a while to let in some fresh air. I deep cleaned my bathroom and bedroom and did laundry. My weight was down to another all time low this morning and that made me super happy. I have been tracking my macros on Carb Manager and thinking that it’s not a bad idea for me to continue. At least until I reach my goal and learn how to stay in maintenance. I’m not really trying to hit a certain calorie or macro number as much as using it for data. I am working on keeping protein higher than fat grams and of course keeping the carbs as low as possible. Except for Keto-approved veggie carbs. Those I will eat a ton of and not really worry about it. This morning I got an email that I could get the premium membership for $29 a year, so I went ahead and did that. There are tons of features and over 50,000 Keto-friendly recipes. I’m excited to find new things to make!

@cbabie Good job on your walk. I'm a bit concerned about all of it being in the peak minutes on your fitbit. Don't want you to have a heart attack or anything. I'd have no siblings left. At least you tracked your food. That's a good thing.
@teresaw1020 Looks like you found another piece to your puzzle. We had pollen when I lived in TX. Thank God I didn't have allergies though. My hubby was a different story.
@trooworld I got 50%. Not really focusing on it cause I'm really focusing on food right now til that becomes a habit again. New clothes are so much fun to buy. I'm going to wait until I get off the 17 lbs left from covid.

Afternoon all, I have had a busy day and almost forgot to come on here and post. My allergies are horrible, I slept an hour yesterday...couldn't open my eyes no matter how hard I tried. I tracked yesterday and wasn't the best, but I tracked and have a very small victory. I was upset by one of my kids and really wanted to get into the "soft" chocolate chip cookies.. I DID NOT...I walked away and said I am in control of me. I got on my treadmill again today..then I haven't stopped until now. LOL
@TeresaW1020 I don't know what's in the air here, but I have never been so miserable. Sounds like your ap is working for you!! YEA
@trooworld LOL. I think that's why I ignore all the requests. LOL. Isn't it nice to work outside? Before I retired, I loved when I could work from home and sit outside, (that was before baby girl) LOL
@theslightedgeforever Well I don't feel like I going anytime soon... LOL. I just really like the treadmill out of all the machines I have done in my lifetime. LOL

@cbabie Good self control from walking away from the cookies. I like those fitbit numbers much better.
@trooworld Weight loss is not linear. I mean it would be nice but that's not usually reality. that's great that you are preparing for next week. It's all in the planning I think and then sticking to those plans. I got 33%

@trooworld You will get that gain off next week! Prepping snacks is a good idea since that is something you struggle with. Taking pictures of you in an outfit is a great idea. I’ve also taken a video of myself in an outfit so that you can see it from all angles and in movement. Give it a try!
@cbabie Sorry that allergies are attacking you so badly. Good for you for saying no to those cookies! That is amazing self-discipline and I know that you are proud of yourself. I did something similar this morning.
Hello all! Today, is the end of my month for weighing in and I managed to lose 1 pound. I wish it would have been more but with the trip to Florida and getting back on track I'm happy it wasn't a gain. I didn’t do very well yesterday and got into foods that are NOT part of my plan. This morning, I left early for work and had this thought that I would go through the Starbucks drive-thru and get a latte and maybe some breakfast. Afterall today was weigh-in so I would have the rest of the week to get the weight off. I was just about to pull in when I said NO, and drove past and got on the road that leads to the church. I worked five hours with just electrolyte water and had something to eat when I came home. I really like the feeling of being in control better than when I lose it. Now just to bottle that feeling and uncork it when I need it.

Afternoon all, well I wish I could say today was a good day for weight control..but NOT. I got into the wheat thins and mindlessly ate, didn't get on my treadmill, but I did take baby girl for a walk. So I have to be more mindful the rest of the day. I have a lot of emotions right now and I am happy that I am still making good choices more than not.
@trooworld I should go through my closet and get rid of MORE things...I just keep hoping I will get back down and oh you can't have too many black dress shirts. LOL.
@theslightedgeforever glad I could make you a little happier >>LOL Great job staying OP
@TeresaW1020 I am so proud of your inner strength...when you figure out how to bottle that, let me know.. I need to pull on my resources... great job on the loss...a loss is a loss.

Good day all. Been ages since I have been on. Been doing alright. Weight has dropped down to 158 final and my eating has been a lot better. Just got myself a new Fitbit Versa 3 so that my new motivation. Just finished 45 min on the treadmill burning 456 cals.0
-
Afternoon all, I did not so well still last night eating. My stomach was so bloated and I just felt icky. Here we are another day and I did get my walk on the Treadmill, (only got in a few min)picked up a book from the library and been doing laundry. I have been trying to look back and see how my life of eating habits have changed. One thing I see is I used to buy low fat, fat free, etc..then I read that was not healthy, so I buy butter, 2 % milk, etc. I think after looking at this ugly 63 year old body, I need to watch my fat content. I am just not sure how much fat is good and healthy.
@trooworld Yea on the loss, I laughed as I could see you with a car tire around your waist.. (I look like I have a tire under my shirts..LOL). I am happy to hear you taking care of you, I am trying to do that more myself.
@renaegry Good to see you stop by. Yea on weight loss..I am babying my Fitbit Blaze...I have to charge it if it gets to the wrong screen, the button is broke on the left side to change screens. LOL. I want the Versa 3, do you like it so far? I am trying to make it something I buy myself after I am a little more consistent in my tracking and exercise. LOL

@cbabie As a Keto girl, I would have to say that I think eating fat is very healthy. Of course, you want the right kinds of fat. Seed oils, like canola and corn, are horrible and should be avoided at all costs. I would look at your processed foods and of course sugar as the main culprits for an unhealthy diet. I have a very good friend who is a vegan and eats super low fat. We have fun debating each other but we always agree that processed foods are the worst.
@trooworld My mom used to put mayo in her hair.I think taking “me” time is great! How did you like the coconut oil treatment? I haven’t used a mud mask in years. I might need to look for one the next time I’m at the store.
@renaegry Good to see you checking in and doing so well.
@theslightedgeforever Not the best day, huh? You will turn it around.
Good morning and a happy new month! February wasn’t the best and I have to do better! Having said that tomorrow is my B-day. I’m turning 55!We are going to go out for brunch to a place called Mama’s Boy. I already know that I’m getting the salmon cakes Benedict with capers & chive hollandaise. It’s served with a huge biscuit and spring greens. So, no Keto tomorrow! Plus, DH said there might be some wine and chocolate happening too.
But it’s one day out of 31 days and I’m not planning on letting that stop me from sticking to my plan the rest of the month. It’s going to be hot here before I know it and I want to go clothes shopping! Eye on the prize is my motto for March.

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I went off the grid for a bit. I was having a rough mental health time with exhaustion and overwhelm (work stuff, life stuff, school stuff, the whole 9 yards).
I didn't eat the best, but I didn't do the worst either. At the very least I stuck with exercise which was good. I'm hopping back on track today and I've got healthy meals and activities planned out for the week. I hope you all are well, sorry I can't catch up on all the messages I missed!0 -
Hi All! Going to work on my March goals. Made it to Zumba 3x last week. Hoping to do the same this week.
Hope all is well with you all!0 -
@teresaw1020 Happy Birthday. I don't have a problem with fat except for what's on my body.
But my macros usually run heavier on the fat versus carbs and protein. But my cholesterol is really good so i'm not really worried about it right now. Here's to a good March.
@trowoorld Woohoo on your weight loss. Your hike sounds so fun. Nice to get out in nature and move your body. I should try the coconut oil treatment. I have tried just using straight coconut oil but I hate the smell. It didn't smell like good suntan oil smell. lol That smell I love. Double woohoo on your jeans. Even if you aren't losing at the rate you want, you are still being consistent and showing progress.
@mswatson0777 Glad to see you back. I hope you are refreshed and ready to go. You look like everything is planned out. just take a day at a time.
@renaegry So what do you like most about the Versa 3. I'll be needing a new one soon. My Versa is not staying charged.
@cbabie I'm glad to see you are being consistent in your exercise.
@gemwolf110 Can't believe it's March already. I'm hoping the next 365 days is better than the last 365 days. Zumba is fun I think. Good for you.

Afternoon all, Well I got on the scales Sunday and almost cried right there, went through the thought process...."I just won't eat food for 3 weeks... I then thought how stupid..LOL it works. but not quite healthy. Then I thought really what is it i need to do...I know my body, I have had it for a LONG time.
. So I am working on finding the groove that you all have found for each of you. One thing I know is sugar is my addiction and I need freed from that. There was a point in my life that I could of just had 1 slice of cake for an important event..but not today. I went on my walk around the neighborhood today...didn't feel like the treadmill. Too many things I had to get done.
Numbers are different, but movement is movement in my world.
@gemwolf110 I am there with you..February was not all that good emotionally. So hoping it's not the same in March.
@mswatson0777 So sorry that's where you were, but I had a few of those myself...are you sure we didn't come from the same gene pool? LOL I hope things get better each day for for you.
@trooworld Thank you for your stepping up and pointing out I need to change my image in my mind about my body and me. I know some of that comes from things I heard my whole life and some of it is the things that have been said to me this past couple of weeks. I so appreciate you!!! Congratulations on the LOSS that is good. You are being consistent and that creates habits that remain. I always feel the scale show some, but you know its the clothes and the way they fit that REALLY tells us that we are seeing results!!! Congrats on 16!
@TeresaW1020 Yes I agree that the way I look at fat is not always healthy. I don't know that I could be a KETO girl...I like my carbs..LOL. Again, looking for what will work for me and I agree processed foods have to be the worst HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!! ( well you will read this tomorrow...LOL I used to put mayo on my hair..I have had good hair most of my life, but there was a time about 2 years ago...not so..it was STRESS. Sometimes we don't know really how much other things influence out health.

@TeresaW1020 happy birthday
@theslightedgeforever love the screen of the versa 3. Love the alerts from changing heart rate zones. Has gps built right into the watch (havent been able to try that yet. Too cold. Hopefully this weekend forecast is for 9C). Little more interactive. After a workout tell me great job Renae.
Hope everyone is doing well well. Been eating way to much since Friday. Way to much take out. Time to get back on track today. Meals planned out for the day plus plan a treadmill walk/jog followed by ab challenge and 100 squats0 -
Morning all, I just finished my walk on my treadmill. I did much better eating yesterday. I tracked and I think the thing that helped me is I didn't eat until about 1 or 2. I think it changes my mindset for the day. So trying that again today.
carbs 10% over goal Fat 18% under goal and protein 8% over on goal. LOL. I tried to put the graph in here, but it was so BIGGGG... I deleted it.
@trooworld I am here to tell you, I know how it feels when a family member does that to you...It makes you question everything you think, say or do. I am trying to learn from it and be a better me. (Not what they think a better me is, but truly a better me) I still say you are doing great and YES you will pick yourself up and do this. They do NOT control your life, you know you better than anyone. I personally like who you are..
@renaegry I love to hear the things you like about it...makes me want one sooner, but I am going to try to stick to my plan! LOL

@trooword, Thank you very much for the birthday wishes!!
I am so sorry that you received upsetting news and that it’s affected you so deeply. I hope that you will bounce back and feel better soon.
@renaegry Thank you for the birthday wishes! You will get back on track.
@cbabie Thank you for the birthday wishes! I’m sorry that the scale made you sad. You do know your body and what will and won’t work for you. I’m like you and sugar is not my friend. I like carbs too but if I eat them consistently my weight just won’t budge. And boy did I just eat a lot of carbs!! See my post.
@theslightedgeforever, Thank you! Yeah, I wouldn’t worry about cholesterol at all from what my Keto doctors on the podcast I listen to have to say about it. But of course, if I had high cholesterol I would probably be doing more research. I do well with fat too but I am trying to not overdo it and keep the protein higher than the fat grams. Not always easy to do!
@gemwolf110 Zumba is fun! I wish Beachbody had Zumba. They do have some country and hip-hop dance workout videos. Maybe I should give them a try.
@mswatson0777 Glad to see you checking in with us. I was wondering if you were OK. I hope things are going better for you. You just have so much going on that you have to be extra diligent about self-care.
Hi everyone! I’m sitting here stuffed to the gills! DH took mom and me out for brunch and then back home for chocolate cake and coffee. The cake was soooo good but I’m almost in a sugar coma at the moment and need a nap!I got some really nice gifts including a beautiful long necklace and a cool puzzle from DH. Mom got me two cast iron skillets, a food steamer, and some make-up. I can’t wait to cook something in the cast iron! 😊 We had quite a scare this morning when we found out that yesterday afternoon my 3-year-old great-niece swallowed a decorative glass bead that got stuck in her esophagus. They had to put her under anesthesia this morning to remove it. She is doing fine now and should be going home later today. Kids!!
OK, I'm off to try to get more of this puzzle done that I'm currently doing. It's kicking my butt, but I love it.1 -
@cbabie You'll find your way. That's great you got out there and moved your body.
@renaegry That sounds cool. The best thing I like about my Versa right now is the Find Phone option.I'm always misplacing it. But I'm constantly looking at my phone when I'm exercising to make sure I'm in the right zones.
@teresaw1020 Happy Birthday To You.....Everybody sing...... Well, you know what to do now that you've had your bday meal. You are experiencing lowest weights ever, so keep heading towards those. Yikes on your niece. I hope she's okay. I love the puzzle.
@trooworld 25%. You sound like you had a nice balance to your meals. It really could have been worse. Think about the good things that you ate. There will always be things we can improve on.
My neighbor sent over some cinnamon rolls last night. I couldn't seem to stay out of them so they went bye bye today so I wouldn't eat the last 3. I guess the good news was that I ate those instead of dinner. Think how many more calories I would have eaten if I also had dinner on top of them.0
