@martaindale - Glad to hear the whole family had fun at the 10k and that your daughter is now interested in cross country!
Welcome @penguinmama872 -
What the heck - I'll aim for slightly higher than March --- 210 KM. In training for my first full marathon, so I need to commit to maintaining high mileage. Any and all support appreciated. And good luck to you all. Kick some butt this month12

penguinmama87 wrote: »Hi all! I am new to the thread, and still a newbie-ish runner. Did C25k a few years ago and ran some short races, then got sidetracked (probably by a baby?) and am only getting back into it now. I'm doing C25k again because I liked the program very much the first time around and I need to build my endurance back up. I'm setting a low goal for myself this month because I'm still not going very far yet - 15 miles total. My youngest (9mos) has been rather grumpy about me leaving the house without her, so really, the goal is about actually getting out of the door on a regular basis.
I've enjoyed reading through the thread so far and look forward to getting to know all of you!
Welcome to the group!!1 -
@martaindale, that's an excellent result for your family. You must be so pleased.
And welcome @penguinmama87 - escaping children has possibly become my number 1 reason to run!!!

@Scott6255 Glad the last 3 miles of your run felt good.
@Tramboman Glad you are feeling better. hahaha about the food. There are very few I don't like, but there are some.
@martaindale That sand sounds like it made for a tough course, but really glad that the family stuck with it and that your daughter seemed to enjoy it and wants to race again. That's awesome. How old is she?
Welcome @penguinmama87 ! C25K is a great program!
Welcome @rb3551 ! You'll get plenty of support here. Do you have a plan you are using to get ready for the marathon?2 -
Date.......Run............ Walk
4/1...... 0.00............ 2.25 - Treadmill
4/2.......2.25.............1.00 - Treadmill - easy
4/3.......0.00.............2.00 - Field and driveway
4/4......3.00..............1.00 - Driveway laps
4/5......0.00...............1.00 - driveway laps with Tippy and mowed the lawn for 1:46:49 (2.43 miles of walking)
12.50/80 miles
I worked at daycare today from 8 - 2:15. I was in the transition room for the babies that are barely one. There are only 5 in that class and this group is really good. It's the first time I have worked in the classroom while the kids are awake since my surgery. It went really well. Still not ready to tackle the older ones, but this class was okay.
After I got home, I mowed the lawn. Then, I put Tippy on leash and we went for a 3.6 mph mile intentional walk doing laps on the driveway to keep my streak going. I'm not sure what Tippy thinks about the lap situation, but she did really great. If I tell her we aren't stopping, she doesn't. I mean, I have to remind her, but only once did I have to pull her along to get her started again.9 -
4/1 - 1.87 mile 30 min easy effort
4/2 - 1.84 mile 30 min easy effort
4/4 - 3.68 mile 60 min easy effort
4/5 - 2.22 mile 35 min easy effort
4/6 - 2.22 mile 35 min easy effort
April total/goal: 11.83/50
Was surprised to see the exact same distance at the same time today. That's a lot of deuces. And I didn't even win anything.7 -
Welcome @rb3551
@quilteryoyo - If you keep training Tippy on laps you may find she is the one pulling you to keep going one day!4 -
Distance Log:
4/6 1.80 miles
April Total/Goal: 1.80/15
It was a really pleasant morning! About 50 degrees (F). Lots of birds and bunnies, not many people. So just about perfect! And the baby stayed asleep for about half of it, which is progress!10 -
4-1 7k slow
4-2 7k slooooooow
4-3 4k easy
4-4 7k slow
4-5 7k easy
4-6 rest
April Total: 32k
April Goal: 150k
Golf today instead of running, although I was tempted to do a short run before golf to loosen up my back. First rest day of 2021.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)8 -
@WhatMeRunning I think you won something - the feeling of accomplishment, good health and happiness. I wish I had started running with Tippy when she was little. She's almost 8 now, but still acts like a puppy. She is really good on leash and knows when we are walking for exercise and when she can stop to sniff everything. Every once in a while, she gets the two confused. Usually, she gets to run around, free, since I live in the county and away from the road. But, she has been getting into rabbit's nests the last week or so and bringing home ticks she picks up from them. I'm trying to keep her up for a week or so, hoping the baby rabbits will be gone and it won't be such a temptation for her. That means a lot more on-leash walking. But, that's okay. It's good for her every once in a while.
Great running @penguinmama87 ! I take it you are running with a baby stroller?
Have fun golfing @Tramboman !

I am not - I am looking for a cheap or free one if I have to use it, but I loathe running with a stroller. My husband is at home with the kids when I run, and at that hour they really should all be sleeping. That works great for me because I'm a morning person. But the baby has developed a sixth sense about me leaving the house, so she's waking up very early. This is actually the first day I went out that she didn't wake up before I left the house - I try to have everything set up and ready to go so I make as little noise as possible leaving and returning. I'm hopeful she will adjust over the next few weeks, and I can leave and come back and everybody else is none the wiser!6 -

Don't know if you all have seen this as I am behind on posts once again (Mondays are my busy, busy day) but I thought it was pretty exciting. I promise I will go back and catch up on everything!
A woman triathlete from Scotland broke the Women's 5k world record at a local 5k race! She ran it in a mind blowing 14:41! It may not count because they don't have all the certified timers and the like but wow! Still amazing! I guess it is something for us all to work towards 😂12 -
Hal called for 2 miles today and I actually listened. My legs however acted like they did not understand this whole running thing.
12 ish miles for the month.
Have I mentioned I hate base building? 2 miles barely seems worthwhile. Hal has me taking 2-3 days off per week (I prefer only 1 day off). I may end up dropping him again. I love the idea of these apps but I wish they took more input from the runner.7 -
@Penguinmoma87 Oh, I see. I was wondering how you knew the baby woke up. That's a great plan since you are a morning person. You're doing great!
@shanaber Wow! That is speedy! Sometimes it takes me that long to run one mile!
@RunsOnEspresso Hahaha It would be nicer if the apps took your input. Can you start the training at week 4 or something, to be more in line with where you are already, or is that defeating the purpose?4 -
Taking rest instead of running really helped my golf game. I was actually happy with how I played. Back isn't any worse than it usually is.8

You can run anyway, he doesn't seem to mind 😝4
