I just took some me time but now I'm back.
@teresaw1020 Glad you are feeling better so you could do a good workout. As slow I as I drink liquids, if I started with two glasses of water it would be lunch time before I could get my tea in. My hubby was going to get Lasix but then they told him he would have to wear readers and he was the same way as you. Why would he want to do that. He's on his phone and computer on the time so he is always wearing his readers with his contacts. I need my glasses for distance so I really only use them to watch TV before I sleep. The rest f the time my readers are on off on off.
@retiredandlovingit So why are you doing the elimination diet? I forgot. I bet you enjoyed your restaurant in OK. Yes the weather is weird.
@trooworld I got 75% So how is the bloating. Good news it's only temporary.
@cbabie Yes you can measure the PB. You have a cute little orange container that is 2 T. So fill up half and that is 1 T. Fill it up 3/4 and that's 1.5 T. Easy peasy. Then just spread that onto your bread. Would you rather have a little container to wash up or fat thighs and diabetes? Don't you wish I would have stayed gone?

@RetiredAndLovingIt One of my good friends did an elimination diet and it does take a real commitment to change so much of the way you eat. I hope that it works for you and that you find out what is causing you problems. Glad your SIL is better? Did she get the shot? My mom said she heard a report that people who had Covid and get the shot that their lingering symptoms often improve. That is good news for lots of people!

@trooworld My fingers are crossed that you got the puffiness under control. You gotta drink that water, girl! Yay to hopefully fixing your computer. Mine still keeps freezing up every once in a while when I’m typing. It’s soooo annoying!
@cbabie I hope I can find the right contacts for me too! I love wearing them but not if I can’t see. Good job staying with your goals!
@theslightedgeforever Glad your back! Yeah, I don’t know what I’m going to do with my eyes. I’m not giving up yet, but I am feeling frustrated. I bought a pair of readers but I’m really not a fan of having to take them off and on. I did it last night at Bible study and found it so annoying! Such is life!
Good morning! The counters are in and I’m in love!!
Pics below! It makes the kitchen look so much bigger. We are waiting now for the plumber to come to hook our water back up and install the new faucet, then that project will be done. Today, DH and I are going to clean our screened porch of all its yellow pollen. Next week we will go buy new flowers and then it will be pretty again, and we can enjoy sitting out there. I lost 1.3 lbs this week which made me happy.

@trooworld yaaay on your 100%. I got 50. I was expecting more of a gain from you. You got this. You’ve come too far to get lackadaisical.

@TeresaW1020 doing the happy dance for your loss. Love your kitchen. Is that a big silver ball on top of the cabinets0
-
@trooworld I know you are mad at yourself for the gain and that is good! You need to use that anger to fuel your resolve to get back on your plan. Make a pledge to yourself to become hyper-focused on doing all the things that work for you. We all do it from time to time. Dieting is hard and it can be so easy to get complacent and allow one slip to lead to another slip. But we NEVER give up and you WILL have an awesome week! You got this and you know it!

@theslightedgeforever Yes, that is a big silver ball on top of my cabinets. It's actually a crackle mirror ball.
All those things were bought for my other house and worked but I'm not loving the look in this house. It's my goal to add some color up there. I just need to find the right thing that speaks to me.
Good morning! We cleaned the porch yesterday and today it's going to rain all day so we put the faux wicker furniture outside and all the ceramic flower pots so that Mother Nature can do some of the work of cleaning them for us. Tomorrow it will be dried and put back and on Monday I'm going to buy the flowers to make it all so pretty!
Today, I plan to do a double workout, stay strict Keto, and maybe start a new puzzle. Have a good day!

Hi all..quiet day here. Crazy weather..snow last week and supposed to be around 80 on Monday!
@trooworld Glad the scale is down & the bloat is gone. I had to laugh at your rolling down the hill reference. I need to try cauliflower rice. Have fun with the books.
@cbabie Good job with the tracking & exercise. I have a kitchen scale, so if I have PB I just put the jar on it, take out 16gms & spread it on the toast. I hate to measure it & then have to wash the measuring cup. I think I am eating more of it lately because it's one of the few things I can eat right now, lol.
@theslightedgeforever The allergist did tests to see food sensitivities or allergies, so I am doing the elimination diet to see if any of them are contributing to my cough. It is hard & I think I have slipped up a few times, but starting Monday, I can begin testing things.
@TeresaW1020 Your countertops are beautiful!! Glad the pollen is going away. I saw something where they cut down a pine tree & you would not believe all the pollen that came off it!!
No, SIL did not get his shot (dd said he has it scheduled but as far as I know he hasn't had it yet. I thought you had to wait 90 days, but she said they have changed that?). I guess he still gets tired pretty easy, but he looked good the other day when we saw them, so i hope he doesn't have any long lasting effects from the Covid.
Not much going on here. Trying to figure out where to move the garden, it is too shaded where we have it. And dh is working up the pumpkin patch again. I thought he had given up on it after last year, lol.
We did visit cousins the other day. We had not seen them since about Nov 2019 when they left for Alabama. (snowbirds) We are all vaxxed, so it was nice to get together again.

@teresaw1020 Good words of wisdom to trooworld. You are doing so well, keep it up. I have a similar silver ball at my house but it sits on my coffee table.
Also the two white things to the right of that ball I have in black. Isn't that weird.
@trooworld I got 50%.I think this was the recipe I posted before. https://simplejoy.com/butter-chicken-recipe/
@retiredandlovingit I love that PB weighing tip. Genius. Have you been staying within your food boundaries? Cough: Are you taking any medications? My mil had a cough for a year and we did all the tests and couldn't figure it out only to find out it was from one of her medications. I have reactive airway disease. I cough when the weather gets cold. Also if I run on the treadmill. Those are bad coughs. A slight cough is from GERD like symptoms and then a stuffy room. My doctor also thinks post nasal drip drainage is causing some of it. So for now I just live with my cough. I'm glad you got to visit with your cousins.

Hello! Sorry I’ve been missing. It’s been so busy the last couple of days. Today, DH and I went and bought flowers and got them all planted. I’m hoping that tomorrow that I can carve out some time to enjoy the screened-in porch and do some reading. I also started an online 5-day challenge to crush cravings and help with sugar/food addictions. It’s being run by three recovering sugar addicts and so far, looks very interesting and promising. There are Zoom meetings every day this week and hopefully, I can make most of them live, but they will be posted if I can’t. I also went and picked up new contact lenses and it does help me see better. Right now, I can type this to you all and I can see but the letters are still a little fuzzy. I will give it a few days to see if my brain can adjust. I’m just crossing my fingers that I won’t have to return to glasses.

@trooworld I am sorry that you slept so badly last night. I had the opposite experience and finally had a great night's sleep since I had that stupid cold attack me. I hope your sleep will be better tonight.

Howdy! Not much going on here today. I worked out, went to Walmart, watched a two hour Zoom call with my no sugar challenge group while working on my newest puzzle. I made the tastiest broccoli chicken curry casserole for dinner. We all declared it was a keeper.

Morning all, sorry I have been MIA....lots going on in my life. It's been windy and cold here. I have taken Baby Girl to the park 3 days in a row..I HATE the park because of COVID, but she wants to go run and slide, etc. So we go and pray. I did lose 2.4 lbs this past week at WI, so I am happy for that...soon I will go into different digit on the scale. (I HOPE) LOL
@RetiredAndLovingIt I love that measuring PB trick. I will for sure use that.
@theslightedgeforever I am sorry you have a cough...don't you love our medical family history. LOL Glad you are getting to read...I am trying.
@TeresaW1020 love with nature can help us clean..LOL. How many puzzles do you think you have worked since you have started this?d
@trooworld Thank you for sending the hounds..LOL. It's been a rough few days...but I am here! I hope you keep busy at work too..sometimes that really is the key....our brains don't have the time to sabotage us. LOL

Hi all...wow, we had 80 the last few days! Today is closer to 60, but still nice. We mowed the grass yesterday for the first time. Now, probably a weekly job.
We also celebrated our 47th Anniversary yesterday. We went out to lunch on Monday with dh's sister & sister in law. Felt pretty comfortable in our old small town restaurant. Pretty much everyone had masks on, except for eating & we were spaced away from other people. Tomorrow we are having lunch with the cousins. So we ate at home yesterday, lol. We are exciting people, lol.
@theslightedgeforever Good job staying OP and the elliptical plan for May sounds good. Yeah, my cough might be any of those things, too, so it might be something to just live with also. My old allergist used to say I had reactive airways, this one says asthma, so not sure what to think. Really cold drinks get me coughing. Trying my best to stick to the elimination diet, but it is trying. Testing garlic first since it is in everything! (sauces, etc) Next may be beef (we have 1/4 of a beef in freezer, to eat up, lol) Glad the pb tip was helpful..it is something I have read here on the forums.
@TeresaW1020 Hope you can get the contacts to work. I would've liked them better than glasses. My oldest dd just got glasses today..bifocals..I said yup, you are the age when I got glasses, too. She keeps getting headaches, which could also be a little from working from home & being on the computer so much more than normal. I bet your flowers are pretty & enjoyable. I can't wait until I can get some..I want the cheeriness! Broccoli chicken casserole sounds delicious!!
@cbabie Wow, great loss!! Good job! Glad you are able to take baby girl to the park. I was really worried about taking the gkids there, too, because of Covid, but I think they are saying now that you are not as likely to get it from touching things as they originally worried. I'm hoping that is true. Glad the pb tip was helpful, lol.
@trooworld Sorry you are having such poor sleep. According to my Fitbit, I am, too. Dh thinks I should get a sleep study done. He had one & is waiting to get the cpap machine. He did a home one & they said he has bad sleep apnea, but they don't seem to be in a hurry to get him fitted for it. I don't care too much for the stationary bike, but I should clean off my outside one. I tried riding it a few years ago with the gkids for the first time in about 30 years & enjoyed it. Hope work goes well for you.
Well, not much more for news. Haven't been sticking to my calories very well, but scale is slowly inching down. I have been trying to walk on treadmill for 30 minutes in the morning, and then usually we go for an outside walk after lunch, so am doing pretty well with steps.

Morning all, It rained here long enough to make the outdoor furniture and toys dirty and had to be wiped down. I didn't exercise, but I did track all my food. I did get over 10k steps in...so I guess that means I wasn't sitting on my fanny. LOL
@trooworld So glad you had a good day at work, but sorry your back took the hit. Hopefully today goes by quickly and you have FUN.
@RetiredAndLovingIt Happy 47th Anniversary...we will be celebrating our 46th this June...how time flies. LOL. I don't kwon when I will be able to relax about COVID...I am trying so that baby girl doesn't live sheltered and ends up having no IMMUNE system.

@cbabie Looks like you are doing good!
@trooworld I hope your back starts to feel better soon. Definitely wear comfy shoes! The special acquisition sounds exciting. Can you tell us what it is?
@RetiredAndLovingIt Happy Anniversary!! Are you still wearing your mask even after being vaccinated? Some of the people I know aren’t wearing them anymore and some still are. I get my second shot on Monday and I’m looking forward to not wearing the mask unless I’m told specifically that I need to. ;grin:
Hello! Not much going on here today. I went to work and did my usual staff meeting and cleaning. We are having Connect Luncheon on Sunday after church for new members and those interested in our church. There will be a total of 45 (including staff/spouses) attending, which is exciting to have so many. We are having a Barberitos cater a fajita bar, so that should be yummy. The pastor told me today that I can open up all your pews and we can stop the social distancing, which to be honest has been a bit of a joke for months now. We will keep the balcony roped off for those the ones that having been sitting up there. We are also making plans for VBS this summer and Sunday School to return in the fall. Things are starting to get back to normal!

@teresaw1020 Your 5 day challenge sounds interesting. How were the zoom meetings? Can you post the recipe for the brocolli curry casserole?
@trooworld I got 75%. So what kind of exercise do you enjoy?

@TeresaW1020 So glad you are getting back to normal. I could hear the "joy" in your typing. LOL
@trooworld Wow that is interesting about the acquisition!! I love stuff like that. Yea on the weight loss. Great job! Your days sounds like you REALLY enjoyed it.!! Always better when we enjoy what we do.
@theslightedgeforever Glad you stayed OP.. Hope your day today is good
Cbabie0 -
@theslightedgeforever The Zoom meeting has been good. What I’m learning the most is that it’s truly geared toward the person that is a true sugar/refined carb addict. And I believe those people exist and I believe that I have many of the traits to be one too. But I also believe that I can learn to moderate by having the right tools in place. For me, that is fasting and Keto. And knowing what my true trigger foods are. I mean I don’t know if Jiff peanut butter will ever be in my house again and I sure know Oreos will never be in the cabinets.
Here is the recipe. Chicken Broccoli Curry It was really good but I also doctored mine up by adding a bag of frozen cauliflower. I also used chicken thighs that I cooked in my IP and then shredded. Oh, and I didn’t layer it. I just put it all into a big bowl, mixed it up, dumped it in my 9x13, and then topped it with more cheese. I don’t think I ever not tweak a recipe.
@trooworld That book acquisition that your company got sounds absolutely amazing!! You must feel very proud to be able to be the one to show them off to people and have the skills needed to explain such a rarity. Way to go!! And yay for losing 2.2 lbs. this week. We are starting a new month tomorrow so let’s get our plan in order and shed some weight!!
@cbabie Cleaning out a garage is exercise! I am feeling very joyful at the thought of things getting back to normal.
Hello everyone! Today, was a good day. I worked cleaning the church and getting stuff ready for the luncheon this Sunday. I fasted until almost 2 pm and then came home to finish off the chicken salad that I had made last night. Tomorrow, I’m meeting a friend up at the church and together we are going to clean out a bunch of stuff while we still have this super huge dumpster sitting on our grounds. Then we are going to lunch. Afterward, I’m coming home so DH and I can run to Sams for things I need for the church and the luncheon. Monday, I’m hoping to finally get my hair done, and then we are all going to get the 2nd shot. I’m really hoping it doesn’t affect any of us too badly, but I’m preparing to in case it does.

@trooworld WW blue is my favorite amongst the plans. Green would allow me to eat too many processed foods I’m afraid. I already am partly guilty of that. 75%
I went to a party last night but still managed to stay OP

@trooworld that sounds like a good idea to switch plans so that you and your DH will be doing it together and can help keep each other accountable. For me when I did WW, I did much better when I attended the meetings. Do you think you will like your WW leader? That is important too! Sounds like you had a great weekend!

@theslightedgeforever You know better than to click a link!
Hey all! Today, was my church’s new member luncheon and it turned out really well. We had a chicken/steak Barberitos fajita bar, cookies, and iced tea. I had planned to have one cookie and I unplanned two more cookies. Plus, I ate two flour tortillas. So, not the best way to start out my month but I do have the rest of the week planned out and I intend to get my act together and hit it hard tomorrow by doing a longer fast and sticking to my macros. I also have a new Beachbody coach and she and this other coach run a really fun FB group that is very well done and will keep me focused on my goals. I haven’t yet mentioned on there that I’m Keto since most of them are doing their little colored containers. Maybe once they get to know and love me!

@trooworld. Wow you were very active. Congratulations on the charms and the weight loss. See? Some good to covid. Lol. No not my first party. I still wear my mask though and drive some people nuts. Color coordinated to my outfit like my earrings 😜 But as I tell them you do you, I’ll do me. I take it off when I sit down to eat. We are getting back to normal though where I won’t feel I need to do this. I’m just not there anxiety wise
@TeresaW1020 yes I know better. I usually click open in a new tab. Brain fart. I love my colored containers. They help a lot with portion control. I made fajitas today.

Good morning! So, we got the second shot yesterday. This morning I have a very sore arm, a slight headache, and I'm feeling a little fatigued. Mom and DH are about the same. We plan to lay low today and rest. I also got my hair done yesterday and instead of staying red we switched it up and my hair is now brown!
I love it and happy that I did it.

Afternoon all, Sorry I have been MIA...Just some health issues that came up and I was did not have access to my computer. I lost 1.7 lbs this week on WI day. I plan to be more cognitive what is going on with my body. I bought a sense Fitbit. Today is the first day of wearing it. I will see if it was worth the money. My Blaze was on its last leg, but I wanted to wait until it was dead.LOL
@trooworld love the pictures, thanks for sharing. So glad you can walk to the market. How fun.
@TeresaW1020 I bet you look different as a brunette, but still stunning! I am so glad your event turned out well!!
@theslightedgeforever you guys are all making me want fajitas...Maybe I will make that tomorrow!
Cbabie0 -
@cbabie I had been missing you! I hope you will feel better soon!
Hopefully the new Fitbit will be worth the money and you get a lot of good use out of it.
@Trooworld I hope you start to feel better soon! That is awesome that the scale shows low number for you. I know how motivating that is!
Hi everyone! Today I did my first PSMF (protein sparing modified fast). I’m going to do 2 or 3 days a week where I will do my best to hit the calories and macros that I got from this calculator on a Keto website. It has my calories 802 with 40 grams of fat, 10 grams of carbs, and 100 grams of protein. It’s supposed to help me drop weight and still preserve my muscle. I figure it doesn’t hurt to give it a try for the rest of this month. The rest of the days I will stay strict Keto except for tomorrow where we are taking mom out for an early Mother’s Day steak dinner and I’m totally getting a sweet potato.
Oh and DH's b-day is on the 19th and we might go out for that.

@trooworld Woohoo on your low number. The farmers market looks good. What is shortcut moussakka. I love regular kind. I like my hair when it's eggplant color but the gray comes in too quick. Corona made it look too bad. Yaaay on your 100%. I got 75%. Sounds like you had a really good day.
@teresaw1020 Never heard of that PSMF. I'd have a hard time getting 100 gms of protein. But I guess that's why there are different plans out there as we are all different. Show us a new pic of the brown hair. I'm trying to go lighter so the gray won't show as bad. I'm glad second shot didn't make you too sick.

Afternoon all, I tracked my food yesterday. Still didn't do any exercise. I am trying to watch what I eat and how my body reacts..LOL.
@trooworld Yea on the loss. Change is good, now you and DH are doing the same thing. It has to be easier. LOL
@TeresaW1020 That's a LOT of protein. I guess if I had 4 protein shakes.LOL. I am still learning the fitbit...I may not use all the features..we will see.
@theslightedgeforever You have the versa 2, I think you will like the Versa 3...
Thanks for all the well wishes...
Cbabie0 -
@theslightedgeforever Yeah, it takes some effort to eat that much protein and stay low calorie. I bought some Premier Protein drinks that have low in carbs and fat and 30 grams of protein so that helped. I’ll have to get a pic of my new hair color or honestly only one person has noticed so far. I think it’s because I had so much red and highlights underneath and the cut is the same. But I like it!

@trooworld Yum that Moussaka looks good! I could use mashed cauliflower and save on the carbs. Super excited for you and your awesome loss this week!! I think that is such a good idea to schedule the WW meeting around walking or riding your bike. That way you will get two great motivators at the same time.
@cbabie I only had one protein shake, a Greek yogurt, 75% light cheese, and a lot of chicken breast, so it wasn’t that hard. Harder was to keep my fat and carbs really low.
Howdy! Today was a good day. I lost a pound this week, which was nice. If I stay focused, I will get into the 170s by next Friday and I haven’t seen a number that low since my late teens. Today, was a splurge because we took my mom out for a steak dinner for an early Mother’s Day treat. I did pretty well and instead of getting the sweet potato, I had a lite beer and the sauteed mushrooms. I had an 11 oz steak that had 85 grams of protein! I told DH that if I ate one of them every day, I would never have to worry about my protein.
Tomorrow, I will do another PSMF day. DH and I are going over to the library. I want to see what Keto cookbooks they have.

Happy Friday y’all ! So I survived so far since my second shot two weeks ago. But man I’m out of shape. Mowed the front lawn and got palpitations. I definitely need to work out more and eat better. I just don’t get it I could do Zumba before shots now I mow the yard and palpitations. I have a doctors appointment next month going to bring it up. Part of me is regretting getting those shots but who knows maybe it’s just a coincidence. I did get palpitations before but rarely. Seems like I have them once a week now. I think it’s over due to get back on track. I was going to cancel my gym membership because I’m running in a million directions but think I need it to get back into shape. I’m definitely not in my 20’s anymore mid 30s now.
~ Missy0 -
@TeresaW1020 yaaay on your pound. Sounds like you have a good plan for your protein
@gemwolf110 I have palpitations regularly but take meds for it. About 13 years now which means I started at 44. I’m more out of shape now than in early 2020 when I got sick. Some days I can climb my stairs and be ok and some days I’m breathing really hard at the top1
