    HOW DTO YOU DEAL WITH STRESS
    In positive ways:
    I sometimes get exercise (go for a walk)
    I sometimes meditate
    I sometimes talk to a friend
    I sometimes write on these boards (for example)
    I have some green tea
    I make an appointment with osteopath (just from time to time, less than 1x a month, at least 3 x a year)

    In neutral-ish ways
    I go get an esspresso outside and leaf through the paper quickly
    I take a hot bath
    I speak with a friend
    I work
    I make lists and try to organise time

    In possibly less positive ways (it depends)
    I watch and read things online (funny clips, series, news, information..,) this can be neutral or positive or negative. I don't watch or read anything bad but it can be a way to procrastinate. It's about measure
    Eat starchy food
    Eat sugar
    Eat fruit
    Avoid people/work/tasks and sort of hide out...

    Cool, spring-like day in AR, will be cloudy all day, but not supposed to rain. I'm going to let it warm up a bit and then get out there and get a bunch of canna lilies moved into pots. If I have any energy left, will also get some vinca minors dug up and into pots. While the kids are here, I'm hoping to pull up an entire fence line that we want to get rid of, and the vinca minor grows up the bottom couple of feet. Here's a picture close up, then a picture of them at the fence line in the front. I've got them trained along all the chainlink fences... mostly because I hate chainlink, but don't have enough spare cash to swap it out for privacy fence. Hopefully, they'll survive planting into a pot as well and will make a bit at the farmer's market in a couple of weeks.

    Feeling better this morning--but then, it's always evenings when things get bad. Hopefully, I've caught this round in time to avoid paying too badly for my stupidity.

    Got the insurance announcement on what they'll pay, now we have some decisions to make. It wasn't nearly enough to pay for the entire roof, but then again, only one portion was damaged. Then you get into some seriously arcane crap-olini like recoverable vs. nonrecoverable depreciation, and it doesn't get any easier after that.

    Thinking of so many of you who mourn the ones you love, and those of you who care for others that you love, and those of you who are struggling with your own health.

    had a mega rough 10 days or 2 weeks. was at rope's end yesterday, with 4 medical appointments from 10 am (specialist in hospital with blood tests), dentist, GP, therapsist to 7:30 pm plus conversations with lawyer in-between.

    1) hospital blood tests. So big specialist in SMD and he says he thinks I don't have it, which is good news. He has me tested (blood count) every 3 months and appointment in 1 year.

    2) dentist : went back to very good dentist from 7 years go, a person in past larger social circle.
    My other dentist who was good and in my building retired. I looked for remplacement dentist and then remembered the old on.
    a) 1st dentist - recommended by past dentist - did X-rays, but didn't even look in mouth and said I needed 3 crowns and 2 implants, but tried to schedule appointment without giving me written estimate. the estimate he gave me was for none of this but for an onlay at a crazy high price. (b) 2nd dentist recommended by excellant past dental hygienist, recommended no implants but 4 crowns, nothing else (c) 3rd dentist highly recommended said I only need 1 crown, some onlays and no implants. This one, who I totally trust, did a full exam says I need 2 implants 3 crowns, 2 onlays plus a bit of other follow up. The 3 others ONLY mentioned the expensive work, they didn't even bother to mention the inexpensive work. She also said I need to see a specialist for roots, and some other details. Dentist 2 (4 crowns) was the only cheap option. the others are all expensive... not thrilled about that but it's better to deal with and feel confidant I'm in good hands.

    3) GP. my great past GP also retired 2 or 3 years ago. I went to another woman nearby and easy to deal with, but I was really not happy with how she reacted to possible SMD option. She laughed that they hadn't given me the full results till 4 months after the test. (due to disorganisation at the hospital) and concluded "you are very anxious". I have little experience with her and that had not ever been the conclusion of past GPs, so I was not thrilled at all with her dismissiveness.

    4)free psychologist. so so. lasts only 30 minutes. she just listened while I talked. I'm not sure how it's useful more than talking to a friend except that maybe it helps me to "empty my sack" so I don't need so much to talk to a friend. I question the usefulness of it. 30 min is so short and doesn't give much time to get into depth of exchange. 2end time with this lady.

    plus Lawyer. complicated to explain but I was not thrilled with something but he did some great work on Tuesday which made me feel better.

    I sent out apps for 6 very similar jobs as it's annual time of year for that (4 week window 1x a year). I heard no from 3, interview planned for 1, and awaiting news from 2 others. it's very competitive, so I will have to prepare for the interview for next 2 weeks.

    Thank you ... it's probably not all positive but I've had a lot of experience.

    As for watching or reading things online, that can be a positive stress relief. I look at cat memes and cartoons from time to time because they make me smile.


    I found this interesting ... it came up on my FB feed today. Fortunately I haven't felt like I had to explain things like this very often, but it's good to see it explained here ... that we can take time for ourselves to do whatever we want. Even if it is something "silly" like looking at cat memes. :)

    :) I met my morning dog walking friend about five years ago when she was caring for her husband with Alzheimer's. She was able to get away for an hour early in the morning when he was asleep. I learned a lot from her about love and caring and patience. For the last six months of his life, she often couldn't get away even in the morning. When she was able to get respite caregivers, he often thought they were strangers breaking into his house and kicked them out. He often wasn't sure who she was and called her "the queen" and worried about when his wife would get home. It was not an easy time and she found amazing strength to walk through it.

    :) I got second hand info that the venue where we line dance will be starting Bingo again soon, but I have no news about the status of line dance.

    :) Dog grooming today.

    Wednesday --

    Home all day which was nice. It was a pretty relaxing day for both of us. Much needed.

    Later in the afternoon, however, it was time for exercise. I got my husband on the treadmill for about 12 minutes ... walking and keeping his heart rate below 120.

    I rowed for 13 minutes and then walked/ran for 52 minutes.

    While I was on the treadmill, my heart rate was definitely not below 120. I averaged 138 bpm but hit numbers in the 160s whenever I ran. My high was 166. I wish it weren't quite so high when I run because I would like to run with a bit more ease. However that may come with repetition. Keep running.

    In the 52 minutes I covered 5.6 km. That is very slow for me, but I have only restarted running in the last month.

    We have a bright, bright sunshiney day. The next-door neighbor is having work done and the pounding started at about 7 am. Not okay in my opinion. It is currently 7:44 am and blessedly quiet. YAY!

    Made a big step today in opening up my world. I caught the bus into town for the first time since the pandemic. Visited a couple of clothes stores but saw absolutely nothing of interest. I have enough clothes. :p
    I did go into M&S to buy things that are favourites and we haven't had for more than a year. Plus I was passing the Iberico ham shop so I treated us to a packet. It keeps until Feb 2022. :p
    The bus wasn't crowded, the windows were all open and everyone was masked. I sanitised my hands on and off it.
    This morning I went running at 8 am and then did some rowing, so I'm quite tired from my expedition.

    Met a lady and we were talking for a bit, she met yogi and saw our trailer. After telling her we had down sized from 25’ to 10’, she came back and gave us a wrapped gift she was going to give her sister but wanted us to have it Instead. Two baby flamingos! Ow we have a family!
