You inspire me for sure and you look so much healthier and younger! I'm definitely accumulating skin everywhere so I hear ya!!2 -

Wut?! Are you kidding me? Go back and look at your original before pic again! You look amazing now. Admit it. You look good. ⭐
WOW...is all I can say! What a journey! Thank you for sharing! And congrats on your weight loss!3 -
First, CONGRATULATIONS on your amazing progress!! You look like a whole different person. Second, I sure wish I had discovered your blog a long time ago. I've been reading through it (only into your second month so far), but you articulate so many details so well, and I relate so much to so many of your issues, and hope to be able to use your solutions. I'm just starting my own journey, same height as you but starting about 60 pounds heavier than you were. I will be referring to your blog often, I know. Thanks again for writing it.5

Awww.... thank you JewelLiz and Serrasanna! That means a lot. Yes, I'll definitely keep writing. For myself, and for others. It helped me so much to read about other people's problems and how they overcame them! Another really good blog to read is The Movie Chair's blog - she's no longer updating but the entries are still in the most popular list.3

Looking good!1

I'd been promising to post links to my blogs so here are the latest two:

As of now, orbiting around 154-155, and doing quite well on my time restricted eating. I feel better. Taking in a similar amount of calories but weight loss has gotten out of Stall Mode.2 -

the difference in your face is night and day! You are killing it!3 -
500 days of logging! Maybe 2-3% of that time being outside plan in terms of food. I came here every day though, and that has really helped keep up my motivation.
As of today I have dropped 91.3 pounds... 19 or so to go, I think. Maybe a little more. At this point I'm shooting more for body fat percentage than anything and my body fat is somewhere between 27 and 28%. I'd like to get to 24% and see how that goes, honestly I think 20% would be about right for me. The biggest goal now is to get rid of the belly! If that were gone I'd be pretty much done with the fat loss side of things.
My goal in maintenance is to prioritize strength training, both with body weight and with free weights. Swimming too when possible. Time restricted eating is helping a lot.
Anyway, here's the kitties! Both kits are full grown.

Love the kitties and congratulations on 500 days of logging: that's amazing! Good luck with the belly; I sympathise as the rest of me seems fine but that lower belly bulge is still very much a thing. I am trying to work out what a reasonable expectation might look like, and was looking for that thread on bellies with wombs in them for insights about this but I can't find it. I'll have another hunt.
Here is the thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10689837/does-this-uterus-make-my-stomach-look-fat/p1.

Hey thanks! That's a fantastic thread and a great resource. I haven't had any kids so at least there's that. Right now the Belly of Doom is somewhat deflated but still has plenty in it, likes to flap around a lot when I jump. I've got room, LOL.3

Hi Tiger, the difference in your face is amazing! You have such a nice face. Proud of your accomplishments, you do so amazingly well. Thanks for all your supportive comments, you inspire me, I still have 51lbs to go to goal but I know if you can do it, so can I. I sympathise with your feelings about your belly, we all have parts of our bodies that we don't like, well most women do anyway.
Good to see the cats looking so healthy and contented. To your continued success!2 -
Awww, thanks Lynne! I appreciate your support as well. And you are right. If I can do it, you definitely can. My whole life I've been the Failed Diet Queen. Well, till now that is! And yeah, the li'l monsters are contented. They like their messy, fur covered sleeping spot by the sliding glass door, for sure. In that one I called to Hiroshi and he smiled for the camera.3

I have no children either and my belly also flops when I jump, which is probably one reason why I tend not to!3 -
Periodically I plug my numbers (height, weight, age, sex) into the Smart BMI calculator and see what they have to say. There is a LOT more to health than BMI, even the folks at the calculator say that, however it's still fun to see my progress. They try to factor age in with height and weight to make a bit more accurate estimate, and it's been interesting watching my weight move from the high orange danger zone through the yellow and now further into the green.
Experientially, this has seemed about right as far as health risk goes. I really did feel like my health was in danger at 245. Now that I'm much smaller (though still with that pesky yet deflating belly) I feel active, strong, healthy, pretty much as the description says. Here are the two scores, 245 and 152, side by side. I started when I was 41, I'm 42 now, and 5' 3". Just for curiosity's sake I've also put in their assessments of each BMI. In my own case I agree.
Starting Point:
BMI = 43
Your body mass index (BMI) is calculated as exactly 43.4 kilograms per square meter.
Health aspects
Your weight is at a high level; in our view, it can lead to considerable health problems. By classification of the WHO, you are "obese". (Absolutely totally agreed now. I really was.)
Your high body fat mass is likely to have raised your levels of blood pressure and cholesterol and affected the way your body handles blood sugar. Thus you may be at risk for heart disease, stroke, or diabetes. It would be wise to consult your doctor.
SBMI = 59/70
This assessment is based on the newly developed Smart Body Mass Index. Its ideal range is between 30/70 and 39/70.
Your Smart Body Mass Index (SBMI) is calculated as 59/70 or "59 points out of 70".
Weight stability
Above all, make sure that you do not gain any more weight. Next you may want to lose weight and stabilise it at a lower level. But do this slowly but surely.
Your SBMI will decrease by about one point every three years if you manage to keep your 245 pounds stable. This is due to the fact that the optimal, i.e. the "healthiest" BMI range increases with age, thus reaching higher BMI values.
Now:
BMI = 27
Your body mass index (BMI) is calculated as exactly 26.9 kilograms per square meter.
Health aspects
Your weight is at a marginally elevated level; in our view, it should still be fine for your health. By classification of the WHO, you are "overweight".
With a good balance of body fat and muscle mass, your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar values should still remain at more or less moderate levels. You would then be quite well protected against a heart attack, stroke or diabetes. This might be less so if your body fat is higher with a lower muscle mass, if you consume tobacco, other drugs or too much alcohol, lack physical activity or sleep, eat unhealthy food, or suffer from stress and other unhealthy life factors.
SBMI = 39/70
This assessment is based on the newly developed Smart Body Mass Index. Its ideal range is between 30/70 and 39/70.
Your Smart Body Mass Index (SBMI) is calculated as 39/70 or "39 points out of 70".
Weight stability
At this weight level, you have a marginal risk of gaining weight.
Your SBMI will decrease by about one point within ten years if you manage to keep your 152 pounds stable. This is due to the fact that the optimal, i.e. the "healthiest" BMI range increases with age, thus reaching higher BMI values.

Looking great lady!
Keep it up : )
Just wondering though how you calculated that 1400 cals or 1500 is maintenance, I have you at 1756 maintenance with your stats sedentary or 1768 ish cals to cut (loss of 1 lb per week average) with moderate exercise?2 -
Hmm my SBMI is 39/70 and they have worked out my BMI as 29 but my GP has worked it out as 28. Also I don't trust them because they are telling me that losing weight more would not improve my health. Still it was interesting and I am well into the green which is encouraging!1

At the time it was probably an estimate, considering I'm no longer young and also have some thyroid issues that mess up my metabolism. I was basing my ballpark estimate off my body fat measuring scale, which gives me a little over 1500 cal right now to maintain at a sedentary level. I was hen roughly estimating how much less I'd need to maintain my body when I'm down 20 more pounds. It's all a guess but it's also based on my experience with how I gain or lose when I eat and exercise at different levels.
In practice I'll likely eat 1600-1700 calories when I've lost all my weight and am in maintenance phase, because I intend to stay active.

Oh that's cool. I've never heard of SBMI before. I like the non-judgmental way they word things and how they caution us to keep it in context.
For example, I have a BMI of 21.1, 32/70. On other sites they heartily congratulate me and pretty much tell me to keep up the good work, without knowing anything else about my health.
But I like how this site states that 21 BMI is often referred to as "ideal" but then warn that context is needed. A fit, healthy 21 IS ideal. BUT...Someone who lost weight through unsafe means and may have damaged themselves, or lost thru illness or who has low muscle/high fat mass is NOT ideal at 21. I totally agree. Just like being a little overweight could be fine for some but dangerous for others depending on their activity and other lifestyle behaviors.
I love that they specify that it's not just a number to aim for. Nice!

Thanks so much for sharing..... I am walking in the fire with you sister..... Let's get it done. A recent doctor visit is shocking me into action. At 6'4", I got off the scale in irritation at 290. I never thought I'd see that weight but here I am and I'm doing something about it. Let's get after it.4

You're welcome - and so good to have you here! I know what you mean by being irritated at the scale. You've got this!1 -
A friend of mine gave me an old picture from Halloween 2019 so I made a progress photo. The picture honestly makes me cringe - I was trying to look all serious in my vampire costume but I just looked depressed. Also, way heavier than I thought I looked, even wearing all black! My second picture is from today and isn't the greatest resolution (also my mirror needs a good cleaning) but it gives an idea of progress. As you can see my hips still stick out quite a bit and that T-shirt hides quite a bit of belly but I'm really only 20-25 pounds from goal.

You are a different person!2

LOL, I sure feel like it!4

By the way - on the pic above, that lower weight is supposed to read 152 pounds. It was too late to correct when someone told me. Here is a new version with correct weights. I started actively losing in January 2020.
