Sooooo, I'm going to share a photo of something that gives me pleasure.
My irises.
I bring them out at the end of May every year and put them back into storage in July. Yes, they are fake!
Another thing that once gave me pleasure is this theatre, The Capitol Theatre. It's where my mum appeared in nearly every musical ever written, so that I know all the musicals before 1970! She was an amateur, and not a star, but she loved it. Now our singing group sings all the same songs!
This picture was taken well before the 60s when I was there, but I found it online today and it gave me quite a pang.
Our cleaning session went well, but we are both exhausted after an hour! We didn't manage the top floor, but everything else is done well enough for now. I will have to give the top floor a good clean before my brother comes to stay with his wife, so I reckoned it wasn't so important to do it today.
The other thing I did was get a digital version of the National Railcard for Senior Citizens. My friend has invited me to lunch in Portsmouth on Monday and my railcard ran out last June. Because of the pandemic I haven't renewed it as I haven't been on a train ! It's too late now to get a real one by post by Monday (you get a third off the price of a ticket), but I found they do an app with a digital version. It was quite a performance, but I managed it in the end. So I have it on my phone.
The good thing is, because of the reduced train service at the moment, the train is actually stopping at my very local tiny station about 7 mins walk away, and no changes. That makes a big difference because I haven't got to get to Hove Station, or change lines.

Hi Gals,
Heather – I had to look up Hoopoe, what an amazing looking bird, they don’t live on this side of the “pond”
Machka - Swimming is the one I love most almost never get to participate, but love it.
The last few days have been more busy than my usual busy, as a few months ago my handy housemate and I decided that he would do a “remodel “ of my guest bathroom - new vanity, toilet, flooring, baseboards and paint. I found a deal to buy from our local big box hardware store – on line, on a new credit card account, go and pick up (no delivery) and you get 22% off - I went for it! The tile came in broken, so the whole order when back and then redelivered – it took weeks! I picked a large format tile 18” square (I hate grout but wanted tile) a cream background with swirls of a warm tan and a cool grey, I figured that would go with anything. A white toilet and a white vanity and sink, the bathroom is 6’ wide by 7 feet long, not a lot of space. There is a tub/shower combo at one end that we did not change. Both my housemate and his girlfriend are good with color so I told them no wallpaper, no black, and no pink – but surprise me. They teased me without end! It was a crack up. So it is finished except baseboards. While they were doing all the work I made all the meals, and did the clean up.
I’ll go take some pictures and post them in a bit.

Her look reminded me of female named hurricanes! Hurricane Athena sounds like a pretty fierce storm! Looking up the reasons about male and female names, I understand they alternate. One year is starts with a female name, the next year a male name. If it doesn't amount to anything, it gets reused. If its a fairly major storm the name gets retired.

Yay! Lee (husband) wants to attend a Shakespeare festival in Beaverton, Oregon, (by Portland), next month the weekend of the 17th! So we'll stay at the hotel, a stones throw from middle son's, daughter in law and of course get some major Athena time! Maybe before or after that weekend, go to the coast. How exciting! Then in August when my family's reunion is, I will just take a bus down, but stay with son. I don't mind dog hair, and doggie kisses.💖. Husband is not a fan, so we stay at a hotel when we both go down.

I risked the rain and rode my bike. Made it! Only a few drops. So far, I ride two laps around the development where I live. Very little traffic and not much of a hill. Perfect for beginners like me. I feel it in my quads.

Happy Friday Ladies,
Checking in for accountability. Doing well with my food choices. Not doing strict IF, but trying to get all my calories in by 6pm in the evening as I know I am a nighttime snacker. That little change is a big one for me. Still need to find time to work in some regular exercise. I probably get around 6000 steps in everyday just in my day to day but would like to try for more. We got a heatwave coming to NY, ugh, supposed to have 3 days in the 90's starting tomorrow. Working all weekend anyway.
Have a wonderful Day Everyone!!

Annie: I would not choose to ride a horse on a day with possible lightening and thunder. If you are nervous about the weather, the horses are likely to be even more so. Good luck. Regarding Microsoft—my computer is OLD. When we bought it, we loaded it with Microsoft word. It is still working okay. I do not use any part of Microsoft other than word. Early on I used powerpoint for class instruction. I’ve been retired for a long while and haven’t used powerpoint since then. :flowerforyou:
Kelly: Welcome!
Terri: I love your poem.
Machka: Your winter travel option seems to be riding the bus. Is bus the schedule one that works for you?
Heather: I am delighted to hear that you love your life. That is a wonderful accomplishment and on-going. Congratulations!.
Beth near Buffalo: Five minutes on the bike is a good beginning. I imagine that as your knee improves you will be able to gradually add a few minutes. :flowerforyou:
Lisa: I am amazed that the VA pathologist was such a huge cheater. I’m glad he was caught and hope he gets to be a prisoner in federal prison for many years to come. :grumble:
Janetr: I suspect that the stationary bike is a huge improvement over a treadmill. Those treadmills deliver quite a pounding on the knees. I tried them for a bit and went right back to the stationary bike. No pounding!
Pip: the quilt is delightful and an excellent complement to the couch. :flowerforyou:
Heather: The iris are beautiful!!! :flowerforyou:
Kim: Congrats on your bathroom remodel!!
Yoga today. I’m looking forward to it. I plan to ride the exercise bike for a bit to get my legs warmed up and ready for yoga.

Zoomed my girlfriends. My difficult friend was .....difficult. Lots of stress over her French house. Basically, she can't go there because of covid, and she is putting up on the market. Brexit has killed it. Her husband is a tax exile and lives in Gibraltar, so it's all a mess.
We listened politely, but the problems are all of their own making.
My friend in Scotland wants us to visit up there, perhaps to Edinburgh. I am not keen yet. I would rather wait until restrictions etc are cleared. Luckily, my difficult friend had lots of complicated plans, so it's been put on the back burner.
I am more than happy to stay here in lovely Hove. No desire to go anywhere. I do have a day trip to Portsmouth on Monday - my furthest trip in 15 months. That does mean that I won't be turning up to the German club in the pub in the evening. Maybe the next time. I can only do one thing a day, and even that amount stresses me out. I love a quiet life.
Lots of love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx2 -
Barbie I love Iris too. I am staring at a light yellow bouquet. I got these from a friend years ago. They are looking happy in our yard too because the big tree behind us finally is gone. I pick the ones which flop over because the stems are not very strong. They get much more sun now. I am still waiting on those at son's house I got free two years ago. They did not bloom last year. This year I have buds. They are black, dark purple, or midnight blue. Excited to see what they will be. I may have planted them too deep when I planted them and it took a year for them to work there way up to where they are happy.
When I get a picture of the one in son's yard I will post both.6 -
Look what came through the door this afternoon.
Wonderful.

Heather: Max’s letter to you is a delight! Congratulations! 👏0

Barbara ... my 5 minutes on a stationary bike was a lot like watching someone in slow-motion ... ...but that knee made the revolutions!
I really didn't want to replace our last dog ... but Cecil does make me smile. He's 6-1/2 months now.

Hi everyone!
Just found this thread. I started back at MFP in late September 2020 (after losing a lot of weight in 2013 and letting it all come back and then some). Stepped on the scale today and have hit the 40 pounds gone mark.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Did my walking. I am trying to learn to keep my head up and my toes pointed forwards.

Got the chair, it was a bi455&#$&*h trying to connect with her, but finally found her. My trainer was not working right so we couldn’t ride together for the last two days… Kirby found a spin bike just like his selling for$600 (ours cost 1k or more). Kirby didn’t want to deal with the bike trainer not working for me. I offered $500, we got it. He couldn’t find the plug for it, he was remodeling so he will find it or order a new one and send it to me. The chair is more dirty that the couch was so I will work on that. Found the trainer worked after all, the break assembly was loose. I tested and recalibrated it and it worked fine. Soooo, I listed the trainer on OfferUp for $260 (cost retail $500). Also listed the loveseat, chair and pillows.3

Welcome to all those who are new. Keep coming back.
Carol - I saw my ophthalmologist yesterday. I am scheduled for cataract pre-op on July 6 and surgery on July 19. Have you been able to get scheduled yet?

Well done on the second walk. As you build up, you'll find you can walk just about every day even on dumbbell workout days.
I'm sore today from planting the almost 200 bulbs. I knelt the whole time and there was a lot of leaning forward.
My glutes (butt) and upper hamstrings are really feeling it today! And my abs a little bit.
