A little warmer than yesterday but at 60F on a June morning in east Tennessee, a girl can’t complain!
@skippygirlsmom - I'm enjoying watching the tracker and FB posts for HOTS. I believe my two local runners should be finishing anytime (if not already done).

Looks like I won't be running today. Some severe weather rolled in this morning when I would normally run, and due to some commitments today I don't think I'll be able to fit it in at another time slot. Hoping that changes. It's just one day though, right? GAH I'M GOING CRAZY!!!7

@reddmobile glad hubby was able to do the whole walk, 6 miles is a lot, I’m sure he’s scared to get right back out there. Good for him!
@kgirlhart good job in the heat, we have one morning you can’t breathe it so humid and the next day it’s beautiful.
@quilteryoyo that sounds great, I love little kids. Glad the AC wasn’t more. When I turned mine on last month, no cold air, my unit is only 7 years old luckily so everything was covered. They were here like 5 hours.
@Teresa502 I’m living by that tracker ha ha. Linda must have had a bad night, she only went 5 miles. She’s been with a group of 4 or 5 for a while so that’s good she’s got company. She’s at 259. The Gray’s were at 302 this morning (that is who you are watching right), so they should finish late tonight the way they have been moving.
It’s just one day @WhatMeRunning do some cross training
Going to watch the women’s hammer throw today at the trials, a girl from Skip’s school has qualified.
Has anyone been following Hobbs Kessler, he’s turning pro, I believe he’s from Ann Arbor and qualified for the trial with a 3:34.36, he's 18 years old. Imagine graduating high school one day and running as a pro the next. Wow. I gotta say as a parent, that would scare me.

Storms let up, saw a chance, took it. Upper 70's and literally steamy. Supposed to get more nasty weather later.9 -
@skippygirlsmom Glad your AC was covered. Sounds like it needed extensive repairs.
@WhatMeRunning Glad you were able to squeeze your run in before the nasty weather hits.4 -

Yes, it's the Grays that I'm following. I just wish they could update the tracker more often!1 -
@skippygirlsmom My BIL works for ESPN. He presses the buttons LOL (his words, not mine). It sounds like a great company to work for.2

Mom had a doctor's appointment this morning, so we did our shopping while we were out. It was just a follow up on her blood pressure, which is staying up with the medication.
Brought her home, let Tippy run around a bit, put stuff I had bought up, and ate lunch - Wendy's burger and fries. Then I went back to town to work from 1 - 5:30 in the 4-5 year old classroom. Those kids, for the most part, are easy. They just want to talk and tell you everything.
Went out for my scheduled hill repeats on my driveway after I got home. It was 84°F, but at least most of it was shady and the humidity was low. My run was 10 minutes easy, 8 x (30 sec fast uphill/90 sec recovery), 5 min easy. Went a little bit more at the end to get to a good stopping mileage. So, walked 1.0 mile total for warm up and cool down and ran 2.5 miles.
I have had a plumbing problem for the last couple of days - stopped up toilet. The plunger I had didn't work and wasn't working well, so bought a new one today. I couldn't unclog it with that one either. So, I tried the drain snake I have. Messy and did nothing. I googled to see what I could do besides call a plumber. There are a few things they suggest. I decided to try pouring dish detergent in the bowl, wait 15 - 20 minutes, then pour hot, not boiling, water into the bowl. And, voila, it worked! So simple and easy.4 -

My weather app said it was 80°F when I got up this morning. I managed to run a slow 2.4 miles before I called it quits and just walked the last .4 miles home. I am feeling better, but still not 100% and I just couldn't deal with the heat today. I had originally planned to run tomorrow since I missed my run on Tuesday, but I am thinking I will probably go ahead and take a rest day.

Well since the HM has been postponed till October, I've decided to take a page out of the book of one of the YouTube channels I follow. I'm going to train everyday based on what my Garmin suggests.
Today was 48 mins at base pace - 6:24 min/km.
It was kinda fun!
It's Saturday tomorrow. I'll let you know what the suggested run is then!5 -
6.6 miles this morning. In the miserable range as far as heat/humidity goes. But ran in my brand new Ghost13s. They didn't really feel any different than the 12s, and frankly didn't pay much attention to how my feet felt. Which maybe is the point.
Dang it, should have gone another 0.4 miles
ETA: Oh, I almost forgot...I saw a skunk and a racoon on my run. That was a first.8 -

Yay I made it! I might even reach for 40 now - I have two more runs scheduled so if I go over 4 miles for each of them (which I plan to), then I'll make it!
It's kind of amazing how quickly it goes from "wow this is so crazy hard" to "no big deal."

Race prep today. 1k easy; 1k moderate; 1k race; and 1k moderate. Just wish I felt stronger -- too bad the race wasn't a month ago when I felt like I could leap tall buildings in a single bound. Looks like rain - the inclement weather plan is "we get wet."
Can you tell I'm getting anxious?????
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

I think I'm ready to start back up my prior running routine again on Sunday. I haven't noticed any sensations from that quad since Tuesday, and with the first workout that really pushes the pace (Z4) being next Wednesday I feel like I should be good to go.
I have noticed my pace slowing down though (OMG!) but I am blaming the weather.
I also really want to just run a HM at easy pace for the heck of it this Sunday. That's probably just the down week talking though. I will avoid such silliness and be good (I think).10 -

Yay made goal.
@Teresa502 I know this every 12 hours is for the birds. Linda had an amazing day yesterday she went over 60 miles in 24 hours and just finished about 10 minutes ago. We are all for proud of her.
@RunsOnEspresso that is the job she wants to, push button camera goes here and there. Ha ha A girl that lived in my neighborhood when we were kids works there and loves it.
@quilteryoyo I can just hear the kids wanting to tell you everything. We had a little kid that lived across the street from my parents, he would come up the driveway of my parent’s house at that age and he would be all Hey Big Ed (that’s what he called my dad LOL) and tell him everything going on in his house ha ha Never heard of that fix for clogged toilet, glad it worked
@kgirlhart glad you are feeling alittle better, it takes a while to come back after a stomach bug
@Avidkeo how does your garmin suggest runs?
@Scott6255 if you’re not paying attention to your feet that sounds like a good thing. I was telling Skip that by mile 11 of the half my feet hurt, just plain hurt. She wants me to come to the store to try fitting some Hoka because they are more cushiony. Not sure I can give up my Launch, which she informs me are too lightweight for walking so much on my runs ha ha
Great job @penguinmama87
@WhatMeRunning glad the quad stopped talking to you

Sorry I haven't been posting. But I HAVE been running. It's just been so busy, and keeping current with the board is pretty difficult. A forum style msg board format doesn't appear to be the ideal medium for interactive comms... I guess that's why FB & Strava are so popular?
Today's run was interesting. Absolutely pouring rain, heavy lake chop, and VERY WINDY. I'd forgotten how horrible running into a headwind can be. Ugh! Felt like I was dragging a Wookie behind me. I luv running in the rain, which was the reason for this impromptu Lakefront out & back, but I can do w/o the wind thank you very much! Hardly anyone on the lake this AM except for the passionate crazies. This is the farthest I've gone to date so I guess the C25K program is working. I still can't run 2mi non-stop though, much less 5k. In a way I feel slightly guilty... like my mileage is cheating since it involves a fair bit of walking segments. But hey, it's progress so I'm happy. One day I'll get there!
Here's a pic from this morning. Chicago's Mag Mile socked-in.

@kgirlhart A rest day is probably a good idea to help get your strength back.
Good pace @Avidkeo . What Garmin do you have that gives you suggested runs? I don't think mine does.
Yeah for new shoes @Scott6255 . The heat and humidity do make running a lot harder.
WTG @penguinmama87 ! You're doing great!
@Trambom You'll do great! I always get anxious too and wonder what in the world I was thinking. I'll probably be that way on steroids for my HM in September. I hope the rain holds off and you have good weather.
Glad your quad is better @WhatMeRunning . I can't imagine just deciding to run a HM on the spur of the moment like that. I can hardly imagine running the one I'm training for.
@runsrunsruns Don't feel guilty about walk breaks. I know some people think you aren't running if you don't run the entire distance. I say hogwash! I always take some walk breaks and started out with the Jeff Galloway method which says to schedule them in so that you have fewer injuries and aren't wiped out after a long run. You are running and ARE a runner. Don't let anyone tell you anything different. BTW, I hate the wind too. The picture is lovely, but doesn't look like ideal running conditions. LOL

Another nice morning (63F) with a lovely moon transitioning to a beautiful sunrise.
Good luck tomorrow @tramboman!
@skippygirlsmom - The Grays have finished also. They were in 13 and 14th place yesterday but finished in 19 and 20th so they must have had a rough day. I would too after running almost 8 days over several mountains! Did you see their finishing video on FB? So sweet when they came in together holding hands and then he let Michelle finish in front of him. She is usually the one who pushes him to keep going so very fitting.4 -
@runsrunsruns looks like a great place to run. I'm in Alabama and I had a big head wind today too.
@Theresa502 I did see them coming in, they were like we are on our honeymoon. #lifegoals
3 -
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. I'm fueling and hydrating and looking forward to the first race in more than a year.9
-
@Tramboman that's an awesome pace! Good luck with the 5k, I love running in the rain especially when it's hot!
@skippygirlsmomand @quilteryoyo it's a feature on most watches now. When you select run you can press up for options, and there is a "suggested run" option. Now I've done a suggested run, it's popping up automatically when I select run.
Today was a light day, 36 min base run, so I did park run and added a little extra distance. It was fun. Kinda nice to let my watch do the thinking.
3 -
Good luck tomorrow @Tramboman !
Wasn’t going to run today because I was in a car wreck (details are in the nutrition support thread if you’re interested) and my knee got banged up, but decided to go out for a short one anyway because I ended up with a free hour. Midday and it was stinking hot, plus we were exploring a new place so we did a bunch of walking. Turns out the “Collierville Greenway” seems to be about a mile and a half behind the grade school alongside a drainage ditch. That doesn’t sound all that grand but it’s actually pretty nice back there, lots of flowering trees. Doing it and doubling back we ended up with 5k and change. My knee is better than expected, it’s the knee with the Baker’s cyst and it’s a little spongy but not painful. Husband’s elbow still swollen but moves in all directions and he doesn’t want to spend the day at the doctor so I guess it’s his call.9 -
Oh sorry about your car wreck @rheddmobile 😢
But glad your knee isn't too sore. Take it easy.0 -
I must have an old watch @Avidkeo, because mine doesn't do that. I just tried. Nice run today.
@rheddmobile Glad you were able to run today with no knee pain. Also glad your DH's elbow moves in all directions. That's a good sign that it isn't fractured, at least.

I played doubles tennis this morning, went into work at the daycare, and then took my fast mile walk in the field with Tippy after I got home at 6 pm.6
