Agreed. @rheddmobile you and your husband are hardcore. I tip my sweaty hat to y'all!!
81F / 70% humidity / Feels like temp was actually 5 degrees warmer this morning compared to Saturday, but ran over :30 / mi faster and felt better. Probably because sun wasn't beating down on me. Fought through several spider webs across the sidewalks today. Felt like I was brushing them off the entire run.

Nice run @Scott6255 ! I hate running through spider webs!3

We had several thunderstorms last night so I wasn’t sure if it would still be storming this morning. Running in a summer rain shower isn’t bad, but thunder and lightening are a different story. As it turned out all was calm this morning. Humid, but calm. There were three of us running and one friend is a bit slower so we circle back to make sure she is ok and we don't get out too far ahead of her. A guy on a bicycle passed us on one street. He was just ambling along. Remember this is 5:00 am and still dark so we stop to make sure our friend is coming. He rides past her but then turns around and heads back in our direction. He then moves from the street to the sidewalk and just sits there on his bike watching us. Thankfully, he turns and goes the opposite way. Since there were three of us and one of him, I wasn't really scared but it was a good reminder to be aware. I need to carry my pepper spray more regularly. I've been keeping it in my backpack for hiking and have forgotten to get it out for early morning runs.

Glad you had a good run @Teresa502 ! I'm also glad that you were making sure your slower friend was safe and that the guy on the bike left you all alone. Pepper spray sounds like a great thing to have handy, esp. when you are running alone.
An entire year of HM distances @AlphaHowls ! That is awesome sauce! I can't even imagine. Dew Claws up!

A little neighborhood run this morning to catch up with a friend who's been out of town.
I'm sitting outside right now after work and the breeze is so wonderful. The humidity has really gone down today!9 -

As much as I love to see the US win, I often find myself rooting for underdogs from countries who don’t podium as much. Except for Simone Biles, I want to see her dominate! The pride of Houston!
Did you see the men's triathlon today? I missed the swim part but caught part of the biking and the running legs. I thought the guy from Norway who won it would fizzle out before the end. His running form was not the typical fast runner form you expect. They were running 4:40 - 4:50 pace per mile! (An American competitor came in sixth place!)
We're all very excited over here as a Kiwi, Hayden Wilde, took the bronze. His pace on the run - less than 2.7 minutes per kilometre. Mind blowing. And he's only 12. Actually, more like 22, but he looks 12. Can't imagine how well he'll do when he's a little older. If he keeps his current form, he'll be unstoppable.6 -
@AlphaHowls I honestly have no idea how 1. You are able to dedicate the time to run a HM every single day and 2. How you don't get injured. You truly are amazing!4
-
@sweetdaisy13 Great run and pace! You're closing in on that 100 miles for the month.
@katharmonic Glad you got to catch up with your friend today. Also glad your temp and humidity is better today.

Went to town this morning to get bloodwork done for my doctor's appointment next week, shop, and take mom to the dentist. I didn't get home until after 2pm and I was really, really tired. I almost talked myself out of running, since it was storming and who knows what the treadmill will do if the power goes out? At least, that was going to be my excuse. But, I changed and went on down and did it. Of course, once I did, I was glad I did. Like the saying goes, "The only run you regret is the one you didn't do."
I was supposed to do 5 min Zone 1, 5 min Zone 2, 15 min Zone 3, 5 min Zone 2, 5 min Zone 1. I did decide to walk some of it today. Mentally, I needed to do that. My legs were tight to begin with, but loosened up pretty good before I was done. I did a run/walk of 4/1 minutes, with the walk at 3.8 mph and the runs at 4.2/4.5, 3x5.0, 4.5, 4.2 mph. I did run the last 7:03 minutes with no walk break. It felt pretty easy. My HR didn't get into the Zone 3 enough - only 5:38 min. I guess that means I could have run those segments a bit faster.
I bought some Extreme Sport Beans and a sleeve of Honey Stingers today, just to try out - maybe on some of my shorter runs first, just in case they don't sit well. They didn't have Gu at this particular store. Anyway, I was very surprised when I was "carded" at the cash register. Apparently, you have to be over 18 to buy one of those - I think it was the Extreme Sport Bean. Is that a thing everywhere?

1. I get up before sunrise. Running is very therapeutic to me. I take everything in my head and leave it on the road. As a licensed professional counselor, I hear A L O T of things. I take it all to Jesus on the road.
2. I do get injured ever so often. I have a few health issues as well. To me, injuries happen more with tempo/speed. I do not do speed. I am not trying to beat a PR or have a PB. I just want to run long distance.
*dew claws up*
@quilteryoyo
I order my GU chocolate outrage and orange chews from Amazon.

@martaindale - I also love watching all of the Olympics. I have them all set up to record and then I watch when I can but can also fast forward through some parts. Coming from a swimming family and my daughter swimming too I love to watch all the swimming. Did you happen to see the last place seed win the gold in the mens 400 freestyle. It was a kid from Tunisia and I think he was as shocked as everyone else. I have also enjoyed listening to Michael Phelps - he loves the sport so much and is just so enthusiastic. The men's triathlon was crazy. I can't even imagine running a marathon in that heat and humidity and the guy from Norway looked shocked as he ran it in. He kept looking around to see where everyone else was!
@ContraryMaryMary - congratulations on your 10k race! Even though it wasn't a PR you did great in those brutal wind conditions!
@quilteryoyo - congratulations on your long run in the heat and with bug bites/stings! Great job! I had to chuckle at your lessons learned from your long run! I forgot all of my normal long run basics this weekend too. On my Sunday long run I did not take any water or fuel and I know better. I should have filled my hydration vest, I thought about it and then didn't take it, fortunately the fountains are working along the trail even if it is mostly warmish water. But not having anything for fuel was a terrible idea and it didn't even occur to me to take anything with me.
@Teresa502 - I am glad your dad is doing better and that you were able to be there for him. That is really scary about the guy on the bike. So glad you were all together!
@kgirlhart - love the adventures of Sunny. Does he have any human friends that live there with him? Hopefully someone at least comes around to care for him and his friends the chickens.
@rheddmobile - yikes that weather sounds unbearable even just for walking! I wonder if Gummy Bear Juice is just Gummy Bears melted in water? Sounds incredibly, grossly, sweet!
@AlphaHowls - you are just amazing!
I have been running and walking and got a long run in on Sunday. I did a 60/30 run/walk interval and it worked well. Unfortunately I am having an IBS flare and ended up mostly running between the bathrooms. I went out again this morning with Hobbes the Vizsla because it was cloudy, rainy (drizzly) and looked cooler. It was still in the low 70s but without the sun beating down and the breeze it felt lovely and almost cold. Legs were a little tired so I kept it pretty slow and easy. I think the swim I took after my run yesterday helped my legs along with running the intervals. Agility class tonight!
