Heather - I feel your friend Gwendolyn’s apprehension. I am not looking forward to retirement. I find it hard to fill my days.
Enjoy your sitting with the Grandchildren, they will remember it forever and you can sleep for a week after if need be. Sorry you all got soaked, but that will also be a fun memory someday.
Evelyn - a company that I used to work for spent money every Christmas for a local charity of our choice. We always chose the single mom’s as my boss was raised by one. One year we set up a package with everything to start a home except furniture. I was tasked to do the shopping for it, it made my heart happy.
Terri - you could be talking about Alberta instead of Ireland in both Covid and Hot weather. We broke a record today for more days above 30C since 1961. We have had 15 now, our average is 4.
Barbara - I hope Joe keeps his appointment, it seems he needs it.
Numbers are climbing here too, the government is still making a lot of decisions that would make one seem it’s all over. I fear for my grandchildren going to school next month.
Kylia - that’s an expensive repair bill. I hope your DH doesn’t try to drive again any time soon.
I feel so sorry for you and the position you are in at work. Will your husband listen to you away from his sister?
Machka - I hope you get to work from home soon, I know how much you enjoyed it.
Our numbers are climbing but apparently we are about to open our borders. 😟
Lisa - I hope you find some relief for your ailments soon. It sure does suck the life and energy out of you when you’re not well.
Rebecca - I had several cousins as well but only 3 or 4 - 1st cousins in my age group. My eldest 1st cousin is 78 and my youngest is 49. I am 52. This particular cousin never lived near me but we visited every summer and bonded over the treatment our Grandmother doled out when dementia struck. I have several 1st cousins once removed that are my age. I am the youngest granddaughter and was quite spoiled even by the older cousins whose children are my age. I see them when I go home, but it’s sure not what it used to be.
Allie - I’m not sure I would ever want a photographic memory, I sure wish it was better than it is though. I hope you have a great weekend and are treated well.
Debbie - that’s a message that needs to be shared everywhere.
Well the doctor’s appointment didn’t go as well as I hoped, but not all of as in vain. I have a locked/frozen SI joint. This is what I had when I started physio as well. She thinks I need more than just the exercises to get me in the road to wellness. She told me to keep up with my exercises, not to go walking as it’s making things worse, but she has also given me a name of a specialized physiotherapist that will manually manipulate me to try to get everything unlocked and working. I will be making that appointment tomorrow. The SI joint according to her is what holds everything in the spine together so the reason my pain is moving all over the place is because I am unconsciously overcompensating one area to another trying to be pain free. She had me hold my pinky and thumb together and I was not to let her pull them apart. I couldn’t do it at all on my right hand, which is my injured hip side, and was able to put up a struggle on the left side for her, but not stop it completely.
I am discouraged as it’s been more than 2 years now, but I’m also anxious to see if this new thing works. I was told it’s quite painful but will bring great relief. We’ll see I guess.
I am exhausted again tonight, Rodger said the pain is probably causing a lot of it as it saps your energy when you’re in pain. That could be it.
A fairly decent day at work. I have a lot to catch up on tomorrow though again.

Otherwise nothing accomplished today. Left leg misbehaving. Treated with hot tub, aspirin, red wine, ibuprofen and nap. Feels a little better but still unreliable. Like Lisa, I “need to respect my current limitations without babying them.”
Debbie “. . .we’re all wonderfully and perfectly made. Remember you don’t always have to love your body, but we must learn to respect it.” Well said this, thanks for sharing.
Tracey (((hugs))) hope the specialized physio appointment is soon, and effective. Rodger’s right about how exhausting and debilitating pain is.
Just skimmed, hugs to all, time for more sleep therapy.

Talking of cousins, I recently met up with 2 of my older cousins which was lovely. One of the most interesting things was their memories of my Mum. They remember her, when they were young being the fun loving aunt, providing amusement and activities at Christmas time. I loved my Mum to bits and my memories of childhood are very sketchy, but we lived with grandad, her father, and she cared for him when he was bedridden. So my memories of my Mum are tinged with sadness and anger that she didn’t take better care of herself and put herself first sometimes.
I had a happy, carefree childhood but I might have had my Mum for longer if she’d been more ‘selfish’ She died at age 63. I love my husband, kids and grandkids but I make sure I keep fit and healthy and look after me as well.
Keep safe

So it will be just you and Tal at the beach? That sounds perfect! No hassles ... just relax and enjoy! Are there things to do in the area? Like a town with mini-golf or a relaxed hike or a place that puts on art classes or something?

It's been a long week! Lots of medical stuff for my husband and me. CT scan with contrast for me today = headache. I haven't had the energy to exercise in the evenings this week.

Kylia ouch for the truck repair costs!
Machka I can't really wish an increase in virus in your neck of the woods, but it's great that for some, like you, there is a major silver lining.1 -
MEMORIES HANGING WITH COUSINS:We had 5 or 6 on one side and 4 on the other (and there were 5 of us). One set lived about a 24h drive away, and the other a good hour or hour and half drive. For the distant ones, I only actually went to visit them once and only one or two of them came to visit us as they were young adults. The others though we would see a few times a year: Thanksgiving, and for a couple of weeks or few-days stints in the summer at least. In summer they would ALL come and stay for some days, maybe a week max. This was surely time to give a break to their parents. I remember playing big games of "capture the flag" in the dark, in the yard. It was fun and slightly scary. I was one of the "little kids" so it felt like quite the adventure. And we'd also go for a few days in the summer to their place: near a like, with blueberries to pick in the yard. We'd play anagrams and walk to the corner store and catch minuscule toads, and treat them somewhat like dolls. (that is not very good for them). I remember we made a toad supermarket, with toad dried goods to buy, like cereal and toad shopping carts. Hopefully most of them hopped away quickly, cause it was surely not a hospitable place for them. They were not thrilled with the supermarket.
Then just meeting for funerals and weddings, and very very rare get togethers; a bit more since social media has made it easier.2 -
TRACEY for sure pain is tiring and saps your energy. I have had good luck with getting joint stuff treated by osteopaths over the years. I used to have pain around my left shoulder blade from quite young (about 27?) and would get it treated about 3 times a year, and it seemed to get things "back into shape", make the pain go away for about 4 months. now I don't have that much any more, but there are other bits and pieces that are wearing down...
MACHKA good luck with the scan.1 -
Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Tracey: I feel as if I've allowed the chronic pain and illness of the last couple of years to overwhelm my sense of who I am. It has become this separate presence in my life, looming over me, and darkening everything, predicting how much it's going to hurt if I do anything, participate in anything, start any action. I realized when I read what you said that I'm slowly becoming still and quiet (although occasionally whiny) when that's not actually who I am at all.
The only one who can change that is me...
Corey's lunch is ready, just need to make his go-cup of coffee and get him shooed out the door to work.
I think I'll start designing my youngest niece's quilt today. Maybe I can get hers done in less than three years!
This is the direction I'm heading for hers, but of course, I'll redesign all the shelves. She's a bookworm, much like her auntie.

It's Friday! I think....yes...
Tracey The only person that has my back at work is my son in law. I am trying to do the best I can to keep everyone happy and employed. We will see....
Debbie So inspiring! So iety puts a lot of pressure on people that isnt always positive.
Allie I hope you enjoy the time with Tal.
It was exciting to see my granddaughter's band on Good Morning America yesterday! I am so proud of them.
Not sure what the weekend holds for us, but I need to finish up cross stitch project, then start my learning that is due on the 31st. Son in law off on Monday for their anniversary. Sister in law off Tuesday/Wednesday for colonoscopy. Vacation for me in 4 weeks!
Hugs to all!
We are all STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL women!

Dragging today! that is not an original statement coming from me.
Today I can partially put it down to
-the stress and
- local anaesthesia and
-slight pain and
- energy required for recovery from skin removal yesterday (small squamous cell carcinoma).
(I got some bandages to protect and cover the horizontal stitching. I think it looks a bit like Frankenstein. I'll try to get a picture.)
Eating, more balanced today than yesterday
But really I didn't eat balanced in the day. At lunch time I stopped at a fancy bakery and got a tea and a fancy cream pastry--- for lunch. And then I finished the last 1/4 pint or so of some non-dairy almond ice "cream". That's a lot of sugar!
Today a bit better eating. I had veggie soup and broccoli and a sort of dessert-y mix of home cooked kidney beans, unsweetened non fat chocolate powder, 1-2 tsp maple syrup, and some frozen strawberries and just a wee bit of soymilk (usually soy yogurt is nice for texture, but I'm out of it) ; and 2 quite small slices of GF toast. Something along the lines of the ingrediants of "bean brownies" which I do enjoy.
getting away
I think I need to get away, but it's so complicated at present with COVID -plus often expensive in august!
I booked a room by the sea from next Wednesday to Friday. They said one can cancel unto 48 h before.
I hesitate a wee bit because I can't immerse myself in the sea, before I get the stitches out, supposedly on the 15th.
I may see how the weather is. It's been mostly cooler than normal this summer, in Paris. Right now it's 66° at midday and completely overcast. A quick look online says its supposed to go up to 80 at the end of next week (and 75 at the seaside place) so maybe I'll stick with that. I could not really swim but I could go in up to my waist for sure. it's not a big wave place...just the English Channel.
Basically EVERYONE in the city goes away sometimes. Most people have at least 5 weeks of annual vacation; Many HAVE to take at least 3 weeks in approximate summer season. It depends on the field.
I could use a sleeping vacation! Just sleeping, lazing, strolling, reading the paper, and so on.

I have every sympathy for the pain sufferers. Today I have a really stiff back, which is my usual reaction to stress. Plus pulling a wheely suitcase around for 30 minutes each way.
If I had to live with that full time . . . . .
We are back home. The phone line is mended. My son rang to thank us and to tell us what a great time they had. Most of it was paid for with vouchers he received two years ago when he left his previous job, so they really pushed the boat out. Afternoon tea and everything.
We miss the kids already. Edie and Bea were asking us about how we met and how long I was married to their other grandpa. This morning I had to fill their rucksacks with swimming gear, packed lunches water, etc etc. I put Bea's swimming stuff in Max's bag and vice versa!!! Luckily Max spotted it when he was rearranging his stuff! !
Now relaxing over coffee. Gutter man is scheduled for tomorrow. It's a much bigger job than we thought, therefore expensive. Boo! But it has to be done. DH did a quick Google, so he could talk intelligently to the man about requirements. Something to do with felt and batons. At the moment the water pours down the side of the house. My poor savings.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -

Morning ladies
I am trying to talk Tracy into having Kyle take Taliah to the vax clinic up in East Hartford today this morning at a farmers market.Klye had a nasty reaction to both shots and of course Tracy thinks that will happen to Taliah, but Dan and I had no ill effects, because of her age she would get the Pfizer and that doesnt really give you a reaction, plus the farmers market gives you a 20 dollar voucher for fruits and veggies.. I know they wont do it..
But I will keep on them..the Delta Varient is no joke..
Will start packing the car a little bit later..3 -

Pfizer does give a reaction ... especially to pre-menopausal women!!!
https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/women-are-claiming-boobs-get-bigger-after-having-pfizer-jab/news-story/507c2b8d36cd53cec5072f567e7dd1d7
I, like so many women, developed huge lymph nodes especially down the left side of my body. And yes, boobs. I went from large to immense. I've had to dig out my largest, stretchiest bras since the jab. It's over 2 months since my second jab and I've lost weight ... but my size is only just starting to come down.
