Evelyn – I have yet to conquer spoilers. When you figure it out, I’d like a set of directions. :flowerforyou:
Machka—What is a MUP? I just noticed that you explained it to Barbara.
Pip Your MS Jerseys may cause local people to think and wonder. We already know you are amazing.
Barbie— DH & I are both double vaccinated and I am wondering about a third “booster.” Have you heard anything about that?
Allie – “I have been guilted by my daughter into taking Tal up to the cottage for the weekend—” If you enjoy this, I am all for it, but I often think your relatives take advantage of your kindness and generosity. :grumble: I hope this isn't one of those times.
This has been a stay at home day so far. DH ordered a new device from APPLE and we’re waiting for its delivery. He has a new ipad and has ordered a case for it with a keyboard. It is supposed to be delivered this afternoon.
I have been knitting a baby blanket for our unborn grandson. I’m hoping to have it all done before he is born. I have started over more than once due to mistakes. The baby is due in the fall and we plan to be there early to babysit big brother and help our son and DDIL.

Did Kathe Kaehler Basics DVD then because it’s raining I watched 2 episodes of “the Beverly Hillbillies” while I rode the recumbent bike. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Firm Maximum Cardio Burn DVD
debbie – here the gym I go to doesn’t require a mask to walk in/out of the building or when you are exercising. Interestingly...they do still require you to get your temperature taken.
Allie – I’m sorry you’re being treated this way.
I do hope we don’t go into lockdown again. I’m getting used to this not wearing a mask and being able to do things with restrictions (like stores opening later)
Flea – I agree with Barbara, please consider a sign. It’s not a guarantee that people will do it. But more might if you put something on it like “due to an employee having….” Can you do that?
Went with Vince for his allergy shot then stopped at the Salvation Army where I got 3 jigsaw puzzles and a couple of other things. Then to the discount bread store to get a loaf of bread to send to Jess and another one for Colby. I’m going to be sending her a “care” package. Vince wants to take Clyde to the vet later today because he has a discharge from his eye. Personally, I don’t think it’s that bad.
Karen VA – how wonderful of Andrew!!! You sure are lucky to have him. I know he’ll get things worked out.
I’m loving the air fryer lid for my IP! I made tater tots for Vince for later (wonder if I can make them ahead of time and they’ll still be crispy or do I need to make them right before he eats them?). Right now I’m dehydrating the last 2 peaches that I had. Update: they were quite crispy. I need to learn how long to put something in to dehydrate. I think the peaches should have been dehydrated longer
Rori (((HUGS))) Agree with Allie – you do deserve everything good in life
Worked on one of the puzzles. Now for my evening walk.

I would be totally fine with temp check along with wearing the mask the rest of the time but not thrilled with while exercising. Zumba is hard enough on me without the mask on(especially this time of the year because it is already hot and no breeze in the gym as it is.0 -

My dear brother, Greg, entered a residential hospice center on Sunday. He is comfortable and pain free now. His cirrhosis has reached a level where it affects brain function. Doesn't eat, move or talk much. End is close.
The facility and people are wonderful, just as they were nine short weeks ago when my DH was in their care. I now know more about the signs of end of life than I ever thought I would.
I am at peace and sleep remarkably well. But the grief pangs hit me very hard when i am bumbling about my home seeing the guys' things and pictures. Greg has lived with us almost two years and has definitely left his energy, influence and spirit in out home.
Now it's just me and one very spoiled cat facing our losses and keeping each other walking outside in the sun and taking therapeutic naps.
I can already feel the tide of compassion and virtual hugs this group is so noted for. Thank you in advance my friends. Got you in my pocket and in my heart.
Stay well.

Allie - since you used to work for a dentist I have a question for you. The last time I was at the dentist the hygienist recommended CloSys. The only thing I can see that it might do for me is reduce placque. I don't have any mouth sores. Is there a reason why you couldn't use another brand of mouth rinse? Vince uses one that kills placque, too.

Rori - Sending a thousand tiny prayers your way.
I went to the YM today to do water exercise. When I got there there was a sign that the class was cancelled because the teacher was ill. That was fine I can do my own thing as I taught water exercise for over 40 years. I invited another lady in the class to join me and we would exercise together. When we got into the pool area there were more people from the class in the water. I told them Kathy and I were going to exercise together and if they wished to join us they were welcome so I ended up teaching the class with no preparation but it went well. After class one of the ladies told me she was very critical and judgemental when it came to exercise classes as she was a retired PT. She then told me I did a very good job. Wow.

August Plans
• Run a 6.2 km event on August 1.
• Run at least one 5 km distance. Plus shorter runs.
• Cycle a 50 km route. Plus shorter rides.
• Pilates and strength training at home.
• Climb Mount Buller virtually as part of a stair climbing challenge at work. Mt Buller is a mountain that is close to where I lived in Victoria for my first few years in Australia. It is 1805 metres = 502 floors * 20 stairs/floor.
• Audax meeting and "work" - that's the long distance cycling club of which I'm President (and hold several other positions).
• Designing two 50 km routes for Audax. One of need to be in southern Tasmania which is challenging. The other can be up north which is easier.
• My husband's and my medical appointments. We've both got appointments on Monday and Tuesday this week!
• Plus, of course, my 2021 To Do List: getting organise, simplifying, etc.
That's all in addition to almost full-time work (data) and caring for my husband who has a severe traumatic brain injury and heart issues (heart attack in May).

Rori - I am such a fan of hospice. To be able to transition pain free and with love and care around you is such a blessing. It reminds me to donate again to our local one. I will do so in your honour. I used to give coffee mornings for one in London.
My friend Ros was there at the last. Before that she used to go in for respite and activities and loved it. All her friends knew she was in good hands.
May you too find rest and love at this time. We are all sending our love through the ether to your loving and gracious heart.
Love you, Heather UK xxxxxxxx :flowerforyou:
Update - Hospice donation made. Thank you Rori for reminding me of the great work they do. I told them it was from the USA to them.

Rori, my heart goes out to you. I am glad that your brother is comfortable and not in pain, I hope he will have a peaceful, gentle transition.
Allie, does your daughter know how badly Sean is treating you? Maybe she wouldn't want Tal exposed to that kind of abuse, or seeing/hearing that kind of abuse... Just my humble thoughts. I hope all goes well for you.
Katla, spoilers are supposed to be easy, highlight what you want in the spoiler, hit the spoiler button and presto!, well in this past case, no spoiler..... it was weird because it showed all the right stuff until I hit "post". Ah well, technology probably won't ever be my friend....going to try the spoiler again here...Ha! Just figured out my problem with the spoiler! lol, I hit the strikethrough button, not the paragraph and scroll down to spoiler.... That's what I get for doing this stuff when it's past my bedtime! lol
Went for a walk yesterday with a neighbour, she walks faster than is normal for me, but it was good, I think we are going to do that on Tuesdays from now on. Or for awhile anyway! Today went for a hard bike ride. It wasn't quite 28 km, but I actually had to walk up the last 10' or so to the top of two hills on the way out, only had to walk up one on the way back. Actually stopped before I wanted to because the sign said "steep downgrade" and I knew I would end up walking up that one too coming back! Going to do a gentler ride tomorrow, probably not much shorter, but less steep hills. Gotta work up to those steep ones, my knees do protest! Entire body was happy to get home and do my stretching.
That's it for me today, congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those who need them and welcome to the newbies!

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: BP, dogs to powerline, tried to walk Shadow down the lane, she wasn’t having it so made up steps marching in place watching hiking videos.

4: Ask someone how they feel and really listen to their reply:
Tried walking Shadow down the drive to the lane, she wasn’t having it, resisted every step. I’m ok with that, she seems to know her safe boundary is the curve in the drive before it gets to the lane. Means, though, that to walk and exercise her more we’ll have to get into the car and drive to the beach, gee, what a shame! Her new, larger, ComfyCone arrived and seems to be doing the trick. Fingers X’d.
Machka that Rhody. 300+ bulbs, WOW!
Pip it pays to advertise
Allie wish you could take Tal somewhere more pleasant, and safer. Wish I could go with you to hear the Fleetwood Mac tribute band
Karen brava for documenting, maintaining calm, and persisting to finding someone whose voice the county officials will hear. Well done.
Debbie I remember Gunne Sax! Never made it to the outlet store, alas.
Rori “tears flowing,” here too, for you and yours. Thankful for Mars, the leash-loving cat. (((hugs held an extra 6 seconds long )))
Sue in WA Well done!
Evelyn really impressed with your uphill biking.
Substituted walking in place while watching YouTube hiking videos from “Keep Moving” for line dancing. This will have to do ‘til this outbreak settles down.

Dear Rori,
I am so sorry you will soon be losing your brother. Hospice is a Godsend, a peaceful dignified place for end-of-life transitions, and I am glad you and your brother have that option. I am sad for you to lose your guys, and so close together. Mars may just take on the role of therapy animal for as you recover. We have one dog who is very attuned and is attentive when there is pain or sadness in her hoomans. Wishing you much peace and many naps and all kinds of healing energy.
Love, Karen

Evelyn, that is one tiny ...lizard?"
Whine. In light of the resurgence (up from average cases/day to an average of 11 cases/day the past 5 days) and arrival of the delta variant in our tiny county, Joe has asked me to consider carefully my activities. Yah. Thinking must forego indoor activities with known unvaccinated, like line dancing. Folks at T’ai Chi all claim to be vaccinated, as do most (?) at church. Hard choices. Again. :
COVID responseI feel for you here. Death rate is way down relative to infection, here in France. I have cheek kissed 2 rather close friends in past weeks (one in mask as we were on subway), but accidentally I cheek kissed a not close but fully vaccinated person after a meal together but I felt uneasy. I'd say there is next to zero risk but I just felt uneasy. I will continue to go out though. But I'm not touching people that much. Well Saturday a young girl climbed on me towards the end of a party and I didn't give it a thought, and we were several to spend the evening together - and I didn't even think about being worried. (though no cheek kisses)
Julie “ankle height motivation” sounds like a French translation of “my spirits are/energy is in my socks”. Your clothing purchases look very stylish. Is the pool in your apartment complex? ((hugs)) of course this is the place to share the shadows as well as the brights. Sending healing thoughts for Thursday’s surgery.
Hmm, looks like scale’s showed below 2019’s ticker weight the past week. If sustained to the 15th will update. Yay!

Barbara,
About covidI'm sorry about those choices to make. I think the vaccinated are much more protected (not totally from contamination serious cases), so that can go into the balance. I am have been among the less worried after the first few months of hard lockdown and total uncertainty of what this things was. Though I was very quick to get a vaccine - as soon as it was possible - and I wash hands, disinfect and avoid contact - it's mostly for others. Now I feel a bit differently since any adult who wants to be vaccinated has been vaccinated here. Though contamination rates are up, death rates are only just barely, and have been on a downward trend here since November. In France we give cheek kisses. I have only kiss cheeked 2 rather close friends in the past year or so, only in the last few weeks. By accident I cheek kissed a person I know less - I wasn't thinking - and though he's fully vaccinated and not sick I felt uneasy. We had just spoken about the very rare cases of the vaccinated getting serious cases.
there was a big increase in cases here in April but not so in terms in of death rate.
Barbara
Congratulations on the SV! (scale victory)
Actually in France we do say something like "my morale is in my socks." I was being creative with the "ankle -height motivation." Thanks for the compassion and the well-wishes.
Karen, I'm sorry about the pump, mud, works, responsibility issues.
I find that infuriating when xx listen better or only to men than women. It certainly happens here. I mention it often enough (not all the time at all but more than "nonce" and you can imagine that people are infuriated to hear that - though all, more or less, can't but agree that it's statistically a societal problem.
When I was a homeowner (owner of where I lived with a yard and all) there were neighbour issues to deal with and construction works issues to deal with. Thought the yard was lovely, the issues like that I don't miss. Of course you are right not to sell with hidden issues. Here it's more or less illegal to. ("hidden flaws") though I'm not sure what is and isn't included.

good things done yesterdayabout 4h at library taking notes (plus 1h break!)Grateful
pleasant meal out in company
cooked some of my pantry stock
(kasha that I use for breakfast cereal and kidney beans)
got gas for scooter (it was out of gas! so I had to walk to get it!)
basic home maintenance
skipped alcohol when friend had a beer and glass of cider (as is normal in this context)
I had 2 decaffeinated espressos!
almost no sugar
called friend who had accident and told him I'd call again in 2 days (he's getting operated today but his sons (about 15 and 17) are taking care of him.
ordered book on amazon for days I can't make it to librarypleasant, lowkey evening out w/ friend
mild weather
café
decent session at library in afternoon from about 12 to 5
library
phone and computer are working reasonably well!
new cardigans do the trick
we stumbled upon this really central crepe place that has a full evening menu for 10 euros 20. (really cheap!)
-A "complete" crepe (ham, egg, and cheese- but a vegetarian could skip the ham),
-a big half plate of lettuce salad (w vinaigrette of course)
-a sugar and butter crepe for desert
-and a coffee OR a glass of hard cider
The savory crepe is buckwheat - so GF- and the sweet one can be upon request.
this place about 10 years ago had wheat mixed in with their buckwheat crepes - so I'm glad they came to their senses.
Feel reasonably peaceful today
to improve ?
more writing, note taking, planning of writing
go home a bit earlier - and aim to sleep earlier so as to be fresher in morning to work
