I am continuing with my usual goals, 16-20 AF days per month.
Diary style
Friday October 15 - AF - A full day off from all jobs, did some harvest cooking and puttered around. It was lovely.
Saturday October 16 - AF - Monday and Thursday off this coming week, so possibly drinks on Sunday and Wednesday. Split shifts all around those.
Sunday October 17 - 2.5 drinks. Even though it was a planned drinks day, I did take 6 minutes (only once) to see if I really wanted drinks or not. Yeah, I did. Day off tomorrow, planning on getting some more of the garden to bed for the winter. Leaves were raked and final grass cutting was done during my 2 hour break today. there is always a lot to do in Spring and Fall. Spring was a bit of a bust when I was working 5 jobs, but I am feeling on track right now. I do plan to hit my 16-20 AF days this month
Monday October 18 - AF - It was my day off, got a couple of storm windows up, and a myriad of other things. It was lovely. Planned AF tomorrow.
Rolling total - 10AF days out of 18 days.6 -
šLooking around. Quiet in here!
Doing my
*Sun-Fri definite AF goals.
With
*Saturday as an "optional" drink day (if I want to use it)
Really HAPPY with my October thus far.
October accountability:
15 AF
3 A ( 4 standard drinks)
Have a wonderful day LESS
ALCOHOL GROUP.

Monday- had 1 beer. Didn't feel like drinking, actually a bit nauseous and headachy from the covid booster. Up during the night with a fever. No planned drinking today.
Practicing being kind to myself and my body.8 -
AF yesterday... although it really could have gone drastically the other way, having a plan saved me. During my long, 1 hour, commute home from work, I had a conversation with my adult son... he is dealing with some issues, and the conversation was heated and emotional.
I stuck with my plan, and as soon as I got home, I made a nice cup of soothing chamomile tea, and sipped on it for the night. We talked later that night, smoothed things over... I was especially happy that I was not impaired at the time.7 -

@globalhiker I hope your doing better today. I heard the booster can be pretty brutal to some people. Hugs
@looneycatblue good choice with the tea after your l-o-n-g ride home.š
@dawnbgethealthy I may hire you to come do the Winter prep for my place here. You are an amazing woman!
Feeling more like Fall yesterday. Brisk and leaves are covering the ground. Definitely have to put it in high gear to put these gardens to bed for the Winter.
AF yesterday š6 -
AF again last night, and my weight continues to plummet. Honestly, thatās been my motivation to not drink during the week- my pants finally fit comfortably. Double bonus points for being AF and bread-free at my sonās restaurant! The bill was pretty cheap without a $14 glass of wine!
@looneycatblue we never stop being parents, do we? Theyāll always be our babies that we want to guide and protect, even when they are grownups and taller than us. It never ends. Good for you for not reaching for a drink to soothe your nerves.
@dawnbgethealthy I will hire you too. We need to tackle the outside as well, and there just isnāt time.

Yesterday, thankfully, much less stress... It was nice to finally relax last night, after work, long drive home, and a virtual HOA meeting... had one of those single serving wines over ice with a large bowl of pasta... not waist friendly, but satisfying. The one wine serving was just enough, and because there was no open bottle go back to, (you know, don't want to be wasteful ), I only had the one. I think I will buy a few more of these, nice portion control!
@MissMay and @Womona , thank you for your kind words.5 -
I have been a bit MIA lately, but all is fine on the home front LOL. I am still struggling and my new medication is really playing havoc with my body.
It tends to make me very dizzy for the first 3-4 hours after taking it in the am, but oddly I don't notice it in the evening. Maybe because in the evening I am taking it about an hour before bed and not very active that time of the evening. Yesterday I waited a few hours then headed to the grocery store. I parked and then got so dizzy I had to lay my seat back and wait. When I felt better I walked towards the store only to trip on the curb somehow and landed hard. I am now sporting a scraped cheek and a scuffed up hand and knee. Not sure if I really tripped or something else. I hope these side effect subside like they say after about 3-4 weeks. I just completed week one.
@looneycatblue I am so glad you had much less stress and great on the portion control I like the way you think!
@dawnbgethealthy @MissMay I have to give you both kudos for the outside work this fall. I can't seem to get motivated to finish up what I did in the summer. I actually only have some piles that need to be hauled away and a leaf blower will finish things up
@globalhiker I agree with you about being kinder to ourselves ...why don't we do that more?5 -

Trip ended at Telluride, Co. which is tucked inside this mountain photo. We had gorgeous crisp fall weather and the fall foliage was outstanding.
Iām from Telluride! Hope you enjoyed your visit!

Iām new to this page. Iāve been looking at the posts on and off for a while though!
My name is Melissa and Iām 51. Iām trying to lose some weight and alcohol is a huge obstacle in this goal. I also worry about what a habit may doing for my overall health. I drink wine with dinner (and āhappy hourā before) regularly. For years, it was about 2.5 glasses a night, but it increased over the pandemic. Otherwise, I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly and mostly eating healthy.
Iāve been alcohol free for 4 days. Hoping to stay that way for the next 107 -

Yes, alcohol plays havok with our weight for sure!! Glad that you are joining us, this is such a wonderful group of people here : - )4 -
@lmlmrn
Perhaps I missed something. What is this new medication that you are on, and is it for the same thing that has been plaguing you for most of this year?3 -
Day off tomorrow, and planning to dig up all of my beets, peel them, and cook them to freeze until I am ready to make borscht, Harvard, and whatever else. Lol, I don't have any extra time to help any of you with putting your yards/gardens to bed for the winter, I can barely get mine done : - )
So...many of you know that I am addicted to HGTV, usually all of the shows like: Caribbean Life, Mexico Life, Mediterranean Life, Hawaii Life, Bahamas Life, Island life, House Hunters International etc. etc.
Well, I have just discovered a new one that I had PVRd and am going to watch tonight (available on streaming as well I think) called "Houses with History". They find these old places from the 1600s and up in America and talk about the history of the area and then restore them. I have only watched one so far, near Plymouth, and it was so great! Going to watch a bunch tonight : - )6 -

HGTV! I'd love to watch that but I have 2 men in the house, so I am out-voted by husband and son....
Hi and welcome to Melissa..lucky you.... I got married in Telluride long ago at the Courthouse. We said our vows at the top of the mountain.....hit the designer chocolate shops and had a blast. Photographer was the mayor of Ophir at the time. Way better than Vegas .
@lmlmrn, really hope you feel better soon....!
I honestly don't have a clear plan for this weekend. Part of me says it's better to not have a "plan" to drink. I need to work on the daily moderation thing instead of swaying between AF and over-drinking. I'm so stuck on this diet mentality that I need to behave for so many days so I can earn "points" to use up over Fri-Sat-Sun and go over-board on the drinking.

Hello and welcome! Yo our post could have been written by me when I first joined this group. Cutting way back in the alcohol will make such a difference with your weight loss goals. Itās so easy to drink every day out of habit. If you havenāt already, check out the resources at the very beginning of the thread - lots of good info.4 -
I was dying for a drink and bread last night, donāt know why! So I had two sips of my husbandās drink. Actually itās probably because we are out of the veggies and salad I normally eat. I need to get to the market, pronto!
@lmlmrn Iām so sorry youāre having a bad reaction to the medication. I hope you feel better soon!
@dawnbgethealthy, I have HGTV on in the background when Iām home. I love the reveals. I definitely want to check out Houses with History. You may also like Cheap Old Houses. I used to follow them on IG before I dropped it. Glad to see they have their own show now.3 -
Book Club last night at a pizza place. Over indulged in the pizza but skipped the wine primarily due to the long freeway drive home in he dark. Wondering if I had had 1 glass of wine if I would not have polished off my pizza. We'll never know. But happy with my decision to be AF. Not happy with the scale this morning.
Curious question: Why is it that I can ignore peer pressure from my friends and not drink with them BUT when around DH I seem to just follow his lead and have a drink or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5?
Meanwhile DH finished a bottle of nice wine and 2 bourbon & sprite drinks during the time I was at book club. Me being out, him thinking of retiring & his wish to be anywhere but here put him into a deep dark area of drinking alone. I can't babysit but sometimes I just wonder how I can help. Will moving to another state really fix his issue? Will I be happy somewhere else far away from family & friends?5 -
Has anyone done Annie Grace's 30 Day Alcohol Experiment? Or read This Naked Mind?
I've part of a similar thread in another forum for a few years, and that's the go to resource that everyone uses there. It's what I did when I was trying to cut back, and it was hugely helpful in helping me figure out what relationship I wanted with alcohol.
I'm a neuropsychologist with training in addiction, and even then, I learned A LOT about how alcohol affects the body and brain.
Some people did it and decided to quit, like me, and some people decided to moderate, like my DH who drank even more than I did, and is an extremely moderate drinker now.3
