Waiting for hunger β

Rode a bike for the first time in years. I've been nervous to do it, but I'm making it a point to face fears and I didn't crash. Woo hoo!13

Had a craving for peanut butter! π₯ Decided to wait it out for 20 minutes to see if it would pass. Ended up setting the timer β± on my watch for 20 minutes and watched Monday night football π with my husband to pass the time.
The result? The craving disappeared! πWent on a walk with my dog π instead. Glad I listened to reason instead of giving in! πππ14 -

Cutting myself some slack on food prep. I'm (still) recovering from shingles and decided I wanted some minestrone soup. I used some leftover chopped onion and chopped some celery, then just used frozen veggies for the rest.10

Getting help with heavy lifting of furniture; just because I'm stronger doesn't mean I can do it all myself yet! Even if I WANT to.6

Found some keto cookies at the store without nasty-tastin' stevia or another weird-tasting* sugar substitute in them. It was the first "baked goods" I've had in two months!
*If you can enjoy sugar substitutes, I envy you. There's so many options out there. Unfortunately, I've tried all of 'em and they all taste jaw-droppingly gross to me. They're allll yours.

A motivational sign I saw posted online that said:
If you quit now, you'll end up right back where you first began.
And when you first began, you were desperate to be where you are RIGHT now.
KEEP GOING!
It really resonated with me because even though I'm making slow progress, it's progress that I felt was impossible this time last year. I'm doing it. I just need to keep on doing it.28 -
so true. I've been frustrated hovering around 30 pounds down for months, but when I started, 30 pounds seemed so far away!11

Remembering that weight fluctuations are normal when the scale moves in the wrong direction even though I'm doing everything right.13

I'm still playing mind games with myself. At first I needed to loose 80 lbs. That big number seemed impossible. So I told my self that I want to loose only 10 lbs. I thought, "that I can do". I lost 60lbs, then COVID hit, gym closed and I lost my mojo. Put 25 lbs. back on, ugh! Last month I started up again. As of today I've lost 10 lbs. Time to treat myself. FYI , I 'd usually buy myself a new outfit, usually a size smaller as a prize to myself. That helped with my incentive to loose the weight.11

I'm 1.6 lbs away from a 50lb loss π
What's working for me today is looking at photos from last year and comparing them to now.15 -

I ALWAYS am hungry just a few hours after breakfast unless I eat a high calorie breakfast - even though I do nothing physical. I've re-discovered an old trick of adding1 teaspoon of Coconut Oil to my Oatmeal and fruit that the hunger doesn't come back as fast.10

Chia seeds in my oatmeal do that for me, I think. I've noticed that when I make my overnight oatmeal, I mostly don't get hungry before lunch, when if I have a smoothie for breakfast, I do.
Also, when there's pizza leftover from the kids' lunch, told myself i could have one slice. I ate it slowly, savored each bite, and was satisfied. Before i would have scarfed down a couple slices!9 -
Remembering how hard it used to be to trim my toenails. I bend so much easier now!9

Researching the menu before going out to a celebratory dinner and having a plan. Stuck to the plan, which included red wine and chocolate cake!11

Savory oatmeal has become my go-to in the morning because it's so easy to add a little butter or an egg to it!4 -
My breakfast is usually oatmeal and a side fried egg
And to make my morning easy I freeze single servings of oatmeal with raisins
Also I have the nutritional values on freeze bag4 -
Working at a snail's pace at decluttering my bedroom. Found some favorite clothes I haven't worn in a long time because they were too small. But yay, some of them fit me again now! Free "new" clothes. Kept me from eating a second helping of my yummy dinner so I can forge ahead....

Sbetak thanks for sharing, great news ππ
Congratulations !!! π on refitting some of your favorite clothes

I cook 4 servings of my steel cut oats at a time & reheat a serving in microwave for breakfast. I add chia seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, blueberries, & a little sugar. It is my breakfast most days.6

What is going to work for me today is to attend my appointment with my nutritionist. I will also drink at least 8 cups of water today. This is my goal, I will update tomorrow with how today went!9

Choosing to go over in calories because I was sincerely and actually hungry and the option was going to come down to 'break and eat a candy bar' or 'eat something healthy while I still have a brain in my head to make a decent choice'.20
