My goodness, you’re an inspiring lot! I’ve had a hectic January at work so far and had no idea how much there was to catch up on …
Machka - your cycle rides inspired me to dust my bike off and your running is incredible, go you
Chantal - welcome to the party and how fab is your 2022 To Do list, I hope it’s going well
Heather - I love your beach photos, I must hit the coast sometime soon and hope I can look as stylish as your beautiful, beachside friend
Lisa - you're making me hungry, I can smell that bread from here
Portion-watch has gone super well, along with daily strolls, but while I’ve dropped a few lbs, motivation was waning a little till I came on here. Thanks for sharing your stories and your energy, I’m now ready to blast through this week with renewed calorie-burning vigour

Just had a text from my friend G with pics of her sister's ghastly head wound from a fall Saturday early morning 3 am. She was on her way to the bathroom. Also broke her little finger. They kept her in one night with a small pneumonia, so that could have caused it. Didn't knock herself out.
Her sister is my age.
My friend G is feeling bad because her niece is collecting her mum from hospital and G has fallen out with her niece through a major misunderstanding. So she can't see her sister at the moment.
Be grateful for every, single, day you have.

Lisa ... hoping Cory is just suffering from a cold. If it helps, know that my son, husband and I were triple vaxxed. My son developed covid and we did not isolate from him in our home (too small). Neither my husband nor I contacted covid and our son's case was mild. My brother was double vaxxed and his wife triple vaxxed. They both got covid (not from us). My SIL breezed through it and my brother had a little bit of a rougher go, but came through ok.

But about weeds ...
What are these? Are the ones on the right chickweed?
Machka in Oz
Are the ones on the left sticky? I don't know what either are, but we have something like them, and the ones we have that look like the one on the left are sticky and just horrible. I hate them.

we have those sticky ones too out here. Never had them until just a few years ago. Have them at mom's too. They are easy to pull but stick to everything and the seed pods on them are the worst when you have pets that go outside or you walk by them-stick to everything
Machka- thanks for the link- never knew what that weed was called-
The ones in the picture do look like chick weed(or at least what dad always called it)

Thanks, Beth, it is helpful to hear about other's experience. It seems so entirely random who gets it and who doesn't! Glad all your family is OK.
I may steal that meme Heather - and so sorry about your friend's sister. Hope her healing is quick and painfree!
@fizzfizz and Allie, thanks for the bread compliment. Lots and lots of practice.
For all our East Coast folks, Allie and Beth and the rest, please keep safe while the storm blows through.0 -
My trying to be positive is falling away. DGS has CoVid, my DD had friends over and they all had CoVid. My DS seems like he has had a psychotic break, super paranoid about everything, DH is angry and depressed because I’m going to my DOD’s wedding this Wednesday, and to top it off, the weather is predicting rain/sleet/snow at 100% the day I fly into TN with an hour drive to my DOD’s house. My anxiety levels are skyrocketing!
On good side, got a nice dress and accessories for the rehearsal dinner and can be returned after if I want to. I need to as no place to store it in RV.
Mucusy sinuses, are here too. Tried the allergy shots 4 different times, been to ENT several times, I have deviated septum but not bad enough for surgery so just live with tissues always at hand. Hand sinus issues since I was a child. Had sinus polyps removed at about 40 years old and breathed good for a little while then all back again. I am a true “mouth breather”!

The wonderful snow picture that I had imagined only came to the N GA mountains. We have had flurries, but, it is not sticking. Hope what is left doesn't turn to ice.
Good wishes and prayers for all in need!

2017 meeting son at Whidbey before we decided to live up here.
2021 this Christmas
There's only a bit over 10 lbs difference, but I feel better these days.
Son had his last day at his SAR command. They gave him this plaque and everyone signed it on the back.
He is living outta his sea bag and back pack these days. I gathered up all the blankets we have and made a layered bed on his floor. He seems ok with it. We need to purchase a futon to use if family stays over. Middle son from Vancouver WA has yet to visit up this way. We have traveled down to meet them about 5/6 times, but we're just far enough away to make it not workable for them I guess.
Today is banana bread, oatmeal cookies making day, putting my new vacuum together day, and letter writing day. I seem to be just nursing this cup of coffee.🙃😁
Sitting and being thankful.

Hi everyone
Heather dropped me an email again - bless her heart - and encouraged me to post here.
I've had a rough few months. In late December I lost my mother. Shortly after that, Covid finally started infecting people close to me. I've put it all in spoilers so nobody has to read it unless they want to.
MomBack in August, my mother fell out of bed and my father had to call for help to get her back up again. That led to her being moved from independent living to assisted living, and left my father alone in the apartment with the cat. The family was informed at the time that Mom was probably in her last weeks, so my sisters and I gathered from the ends of the earth to be by her side. In the midst of all the trauma of impending loss, it was good to be together for the first time in over two years.Covid
But my mother was made of stern stuff. I stayed with her for over three weeks, postponing my homeward flight as long as I could. In September, the family decided we would do our darndest to gather at Christmas. I figured if she survived that long, great, and if she didn't, it would be especially good to be with family for the holidays.
So in late December my husband and I were back in the US. Just after my brother-in-law had picked us up at a regional airport, my sister called to say that our dad had been informed that the end was imminent. We'd intended to spend the first night at my sister's house, but instead we only stopped and picked her up, then drove to where my parents live. When we arrived a couple hours later, Mom was breathing peacefully. She was unresponsive (as she had been for a few weeks) but we sang for her and I held her hand. We patched in our West Coast sister on Zoom, so in a way we were all together again. I stayed until around 1 am, fighting jet lag, then went to a hotel. My youngest sister stayed with Mom until she breathed her last a few hours later.
I feel privileged to have been allowed to see her and hold her hand one more time. So many families have suffered losses under far more traumatic circumstances.
Strange thing, though: After Mom died, the head nurse told us how amazed she had been that Mom lasted so long. The nurse had found her breathing irregularly and with effort (as one does when actively dying) and called my father. But the moment he entered the room, Mom's breathing calmed, and it remained peaceful through the next half day while we were there with her. Clearly she knew somehow that she wasn't alone. Then there's Covid. My nephew caught it just after my mother died. (My poor sister!) Then my husband got a sore throat (fortunately after we'd returned to Norway) and tested positive for Covid shortly after (on both the rapid test and the PCR). Then my father "caught a cold" as he told us on Zoom. We encouraged him to get tested, just in case. And yesterday my grandson tested positive. *sigh*Sorry, but I haven't even tried to read back in the posts before this page. I'd like to, but simply don't have it in me right now. Later...
But on the bright side, my nephew has recovered fully, my father no longer has any symptoms, my husband is almost 100% again. And Lisa will be intrigued to hear that I have tested negative throughout, despite never having left my husband's side and never wearing a mask at home. So yeah, it seems entirely random who gets it.
I sound awfully depressed if you only read what isn't in the spoilers, but I'm doing fine! :flowerforyou:
