My trying to be positive is falling away. DGS has CoVid, my DD had friends over and they all had CoVid. My DS seems like he has had a psychotic break, super paranoid about everything, DH is angry and depressed because I’m going to my DOD’s wedding this Wednesday, and to top it off, the weather is predicting rain/sleet/snow at 100% the day I fly into TN with an hour drive to my DOD’s house. My anxiety levels are skyrocketing!
On good side, got a nice dress and accessories for the rehearsal dinner and can be returned after if I want to. I need to as no place to store it in RV.
Mucusy sinuses, are here too. Tried the allergy shots 4 different times, been to ENT several times, I have deviated septum but not bad enough for surgery so just live with tissues always at hand. Hand sinus issues since I was a child. Had sinus polyps removed at about 40 years old and breathed good for a little while then all back again. I am a true “mouth breather”!

The wonderful snow picture that I had imagined only came to the N GA mountains. We have had flurries, but, it is not sticking. Hope what is left doesn't turn to ice.
Good wishes and prayers for all in need!

2017 meeting son at Whidbey before we decided to live up here.
2021 this Christmas
There's only a bit over 10 lbs difference, but I feel better these days.
Son had his last day at his SAR command. They gave him this plaque and everyone signed it on the back.
He is living outta his sea bag and back pack these days. I gathered up all the blankets we have and made a layered bed on his floor. He seems ok with it. We need to purchase a futon to use if family stays over. Middle son from Vancouver WA has yet to visit up this way. We have traveled down to meet them about 5/6 times, but we're just far enough away to make it not workable for them I guess.
Today is banana bread, oatmeal cookies making day, putting my new vacuum together day, and letter writing day. I seem to be just nursing this cup of coffee.🙃😁
Sitting and being thankful.

Hi everyone
Heather dropped me an email again - bless her heart - and encouraged me to post here.
I've had a rough few months. In late December I lost my mother. Shortly after that, Covid finally started infecting people close to me. I've put it all in spoilers so nobody has to read it unless they want to.
MomBack in August, my mother fell out of bed and my father had to call for help to get her back up again. That led to her being moved from independent living to assisted living, and left my father alone in the apartment with the cat. The family was informed at the time that Mom was probably in her last weeks, so my sisters and I gathered from the ends of the earth to be by her side. In the midst of all the trauma of impending loss, it was good to be together for the first time in over two years.Covid
But my mother was made of stern stuff. I stayed with her for over three weeks, postponing my homeward flight as long as I could. In September, the family decided we would do our darndest to gather at Christmas. I figured if she survived that long, great, and if she didn't, it would be especially good to be with family for the holidays.
So in late December my husband and I were back in the US. Just after my brother-in-law had picked us up at a regional airport, my sister called to say that our dad had been informed that the end was imminent. We'd intended to spend the first night at my sister's house, but instead we only stopped and picked her up, then drove to where my parents live. When we arrived a couple hours later, Mom was breathing peacefully. She was unresponsive (as she had been for a few weeks) but we sang for her and I held her hand. We patched in our West Coast sister on Zoom, so in a way we were all together again. I stayed until around 1 am, fighting jet lag, then went to a hotel. My youngest sister stayed with Mom until she breathed her last a few hours later.
I feel privileged to have been allowed to see her and hold her hand one more time. So many families have suffered losses under far more traumatic circumstances.
Strange thing, though: After Mom died, the head nurse told us how amazed she had been that Mom lasted so long. The nurse had found her breathing irregularly and with effort (as one does when actively dying) and called my father. But the moment he entered the room, Mom's breathing calmed, and it remained peaceful through the next half day while we were there with her. Clearly she knew somehow that she wasn't alone. Then there's Covid. My nephew caught it just after my mother died. (My poor sister!) Then my husband got a sore throat (fortunately after we'd returned to Norway) and tested positive for Covid shortly after (on both the rapid test and the PCR). Then my father "caught a cold" as he told us on Zoom. We encouraged him to get tested, just in case. And yesterday my grandson tested positive. *sigh*Sorry, but I haven't even tried to read back in the posts before this page. I'd like to, but simply don't have it in me right now. Later...
But on the bright side, my nephew has recovered fully, my father no longer has any symptoms, my husband is almost 100% again. And Lisa will be intrigued to hear that I have tested negative throughout, despite never having left my husband's side and never wearing a mask at home. So yeah, it seems entirely random who gets it.
I sound awfully depressed if you only read what isn't in the spoilers, but I'm doing fine! :flowerforyou:

Rebecca- love the pictures, especially the one with your son. Just got done talking to my old high school friend(maiden name is Gossett)-haven't talked to her in years- got a little card when my dad passed away but that was it until today- had a great time catching up with her. We will get together soon.
May have her help me on a quilt I was just given on the free site on FB for our town. It is partially done- All by hand, the five blocks that are done and the rest are all cut out- not all the same pattern so this may be a bit of a challange for me- will have Linda help me if I need it.
first is the block that is done and the second is the picture that was in the box with all the pieces- all in different envelopes with hand written notes on them. It was started, I am guessing in'91 for a son or grandson(name in the box says for Jared
Dh is gone for the day again(another Comic-con thing) so I am going to go walk with my friend for an hour or so, make some veggie beef soup for tonight and clean a spot on my couch- home the shampooer gets the spot out.

Penny, condolences on the passing of your mom, nice that it was peaceful and that you got to be with her. Interesting how Covid affects some and not others, hope you manage to avoid it and that your family members continue to recover.
Lisa, I’m so happy that Corey has been vaxxed , I thought he wanted nothing to do with it. Also hoping he just has a sore throat!
Hubby got his invite for his booster shot last week and booked an appointment for today. I got my invite this morning and was able to book at the same place and very close, time of day wise, to hubby’s time. When we got there I decided to go in with him even though I was 45 min early. We were at a small neighborhood pharmacy and I was able to get my shot right after his, we were in and out in about 5 min! We did go and sit in the car for a few minutes to make sure we didn’t have any adverse reactions. We are now relaxing at home. I’m very happy that we were both able to get our boosters today.
Was craving cabbage rolls for awhile so made a batch of them on Wed, then decided to make a pot of borscht today, now the house smells like that and the fresh bread that just beeped at me. Yum!
Unlike Lisa, I cheat and use a bread maker! lol
Hugs to for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Evie - actually, you remember correctly. About a month after I mentioned that he chose not to get the vaccine, I got a call from him when he was on his way to the clinic near work to get his first vax. I asked him what changed his mind, and he said he wanted to make sure I was OK.
I am luckier than I probably deserve, and ever grateful...

Heather-so sorry to hear about Edie and Bea-hope they continue with mild cases and no one else is positive.
Lisa-positive thoughts for Corey. Hope you can find a test. Our hospitals are overwhelmed at the moment.
Penny-sorry for your loss but so glad you got to see your mom one last time. Covid issues are everywhere-thankfully minor for your family. These does seem to be no rhyme or reason as to who catches it. I think some people may have a higher natural immunity to it.
Made good progress with trim in basement. Not a perfect job but I am pleased with it. Could have used some help measuring at times, but I got it figured out. Have 7 more boards to cut and nail in tomorrow. May try to finish ceiling panels in bathroom downstairs tomorrow but I will see how I am feeling.
Meet with trainer tomorrow for last time (at least unless they find another gym option within the hospital complex. Going to set up some home stuff for me with what I have here. She has really helped me with proper form, balance, and confidence in my abilities.
Take care all,

Vivid Dreams....My dreams confound me! It's like there are stories/movies playing in my mind. Sometimes they include people I have known and other times complete strangers.
Carol in GA
Mine are always stories with plots and everything.
The other night I was trying to save a train full of people by luring the villain into the final car of the train and then, as it went over a bridge over a raging river, I would push the villain out.
As I mentioned, my dreams usually have water in them. That particular river features prominently in many dreams. Sometimes it is raging or in flood, other times it's quite calm and sedate.

Did Margaret Richards All My Best DVD. Tomorrow have senior bowling but no ceramics due to MLK day Got the paint I ordered for ceramics so I’ll take it Tuesday. See, the alligator and seal are going to take A LOT of paint so I bought some. I don’t want to use up all the ceramic places’. Update: senior bowling was cancelled
Vince thinks we probably got 3-4 inches of snow so far
M – Vince uses nasal spray and decongestants depending on the symptoms. I remember when you had that surgery! Be careful there isn’t any poison ivy in those weeds. We have this stuff “ivy block” that you put on your skin and if you come in contact with pi, the oils don’t get on your skin. You do have to wash it off after you come in the house, but that’s a small price to pay not to get pi.
Right now I’m transferring the VHS tapes of the kids when they were little (no CD’s back then) onto a CD. In a few years probably there won’t be any VCR’s to watch these tapes on. It’s amazing to see some of the things from when they were little like what they got for Christmas. We have a lot of Hess trucks and I was going to wait to give them to PJ, but Bryan was able to play with them at 1-2 so I think we can get them out of the house and give them to PJ. I just feel sorry for him in a sense. We one year gave the kids a sort of “gym” that they can use in the house. It had a slide, seasaw, balance beam (OK, it was probably 2” off the floor) and rings. He just doesn’t have the room for something like that.
I know Vince looks forward to getting a paper every day. But the chances of that happening today are slim and none. The tineyst bit of snow and the whole city shuts down. Even just the word “snow” sends people into a panic. I remember Lynette (a native Newtonian) say one time to me “they’re calling for 3-4 inches of snow. Well, I have a friend who has 4 wheel drive so he can get me to work” Really??? Four Wheel Drive for 4” of snow? Well, we used to live in the Poconos so 4” to us is no biggie. It’s starting to be for Vince, but it’s still a dusting to me.
I see the kids next door are out in the snow.
Really, I guess the only dairy Vince has is milk in the morning. Cheese on pizza too (but only on pizza) Me? I’m addicted to my cheese. Glad I don’t have a problem (very much) with mucus buildup
Supposed to have Rummikub for Newcomers Tuesday. You know, I’m getting used to this not having it. I honestly think that I’ll give it up probably at the end of the year. They’re having trouble finding people to run activities, but oh well….. With it snowing today, I and I’m sure a lot of other people wouldn’t look forward to driving at night. So we won’t have it (cry <sarcastic>) Then I’ll probably be in FL for Feb. and March. Too bad (can you hear me crying?)
I heard that omicron was supposed to be called Zee but they didn’t want to offend the Chinese premier. Who knows?
Sounds like it’s sleeting right now.
Made an orange cake yesterday. I had a can of these mandarin oranges I was going to put in it. But then I saw the expiration date! It was something like 4 years ago! The can looked like the top and bottom were blown up but it seemed to be very even. Anyway, I just threw it out.
M – so Tasmania is known as apple island, huh?
Well, we made the pierogi for Jess. Now I have them in the freezer. None of them stuck to the pan (boo) but, believe it or not, a few did stick to the mat so maybe next time I’ll put them on a slipmat instead
Heather – so sorry for Edie and Bea. Glad it’s mild.
Lisa – Good thoughts for Corey. Do you use a bread hook?
Penny – you made my day when I saw your name. Thank you, Heather. I’m so very sorry about your mom. I truly believe that my grandfather lived long enough to see me get married and to find out about his first great grandchild. My father lived long enough for me to be there. So I’m sure you are right, your mom knew!
You know, tomorrow before I leave for work, I’m going to call to be sure there’s someone there. If not, I’m not going to go. And when I do call, I’ll ask if they want me to come in since I’m assuming they probably weren’t busy today and won’t be tomorrow (everyone is shoveling out or waiting for the snow to melt), they probably have the prep from today so do they want me to come in? Deep down I’m hoping they don’t. The truth is that whoever is there can probably do prep.
Have two DVD's that I will do about 30 minutes of hoping that I won't have to go in to work
Debbie – I have a quilt my aunt made for me (it’s completed), hand quilted, for our king bed. She wanted to do it before she lost her eyesight. In the meantime, I found some quilt blocks from MIL. I would somehow like to incorporate those blocks (I guess there’s enough for a double bed) onto my quilt. You know, something of Vince’s family and something of mine. I just have no idea how to do it with a quilt that’s finished. There’s a quilt place around here so I’m going to ask them. There’s also a quilting group in Newton that I may ask. Just hope they don’t expect me to quilt it. That is about the only craft that I absolutely hate to do. You have some lovely blocks

Good evening, ladies! Thanks for all the sweet notes of welcome. I’ve been trying to read through the messages to get to know you all a little. There are so many inspiring stories here, thank you all for sharing!
I had COVID right before Christmas- in fact I finally tested negative ON Christmas morning!! Today I got home from church and laid down on the couch “just for a minute” and woke up a couple hours later. I’ve been dragging ever since. Not sure if it’s some leftover fatigue or what, but wow - not the way I planned my day for sure!!
Hoping you’ve all found some peace in your day!

M – Vince uses nasal spray and decongestants depending on the symptoms.
That might be why he's got symptoms.
I'd encourage him to go off those things for several months. But that stuff is very addictive and if he goes off them, his symptoms will become significantly worse for a while, making it very tempting to continue using the stuff. It's really hard to get off of it all! I had to reduce my use of nasal spray down to once a day and use saline any other time, then I quit entirely ... but I had to increase the quantity of decongestants I was taking for a month or so just to survive, then gradually wean off that. Thankfully, I haven't used nasal spray in 5 years.
I'd also encourage him to see an ENT specialist and ask about deviated septum or nasal polyps.Be careful there isn’t any poison ivy in those weeds. We have this stuff “ivy block” that you put on your skin and if you come in contact with pi, the oils don’t get on your skin. You do have to wash it off after you come in the house, but that’s a small price to pay not to get pi.
Poison Ivy is very rare in Australia. I've not heard of it here.M – so Tasmania is known as apple island, huh?

Yes, there used to be a huge number of apple orchards here. That number has diminished but there are still several.

My mom has had 4 quilt tops that my great grandmother made but never finished(eye sight went and then she passed in '74). Mom finally had a friend finish them and gave us girls one and she kept one. I love having it on my couch. I have great memories of Grandma Bee even though she passed away when I was young. She did it all by hand and the other lady machine quilted it.

Had a great walk with my friend. Walked for over an hour and a half at the park. Came home and made a pot of veggie beef soup, using the left overs( pot roast, little bit of chili and a can of diced tomatoes and a can of broth)- It turned out so good. I had about 3 cups full.
I was busy most of the day(dh is gone for the day again) so I didn't think about eating.
I have finished dinner at only 620 calories eaten for the day. I need to eat something else, just not sure what. Maybe some cheese and crackers.
I guess it is ok to be a bit under beings I have no idea what my calories really were yesterday- I tracked as best as I could. DH brought home some seafood salads from the deli- no calories listed on them. He will find out when he goes back to work(taking this week off).
