Regarding Crosswords ...
A few months ago, I found a book of crossword puzzles and started working my way through them. I've not really done crosswords before and I'm not particularly good at them ... plus this book was written in the USA and half the time I don't know what they're talking about ... but doing new things is supposed to be good for the brain.
I go at it as far as I can go, then I look one or two things up, and then try to keep going.
They've got a lot of US presidents and military stuff as clues, and I wouldn't have the foggiest.
Maybe I'll see if I can find an Australian one next.

Sue - I hope your horse feels better.
Machka thanks for the reminder. I will try to keep my hopes reasonable and just plug away at the exercise. Did my dumbbells tonight, and it's yoga in the morning! 🙂

Worked, then Green Room, then I will prebowl for when we’re away. Then came home and made banana bread to put in the freezer for Vince to have when we come home
Carni – one thing I’ve found that works FOR ME is that I try not to eat at night. And if I do, I just have saltine crackers or applesauce. Speaking of saltines – what’s up? I can’t find UNSALTED crackers anywhere. I can usually get the original, not that I want them. But I have looked and looked, can’t find the unsalted ones anywhere
You know we moved our generator from PA to NC and NOT ONCE in the 13 years we’ve been here have we needed to use it.
Beth – thanks for the explanation of the titration test
Lisa – I was just going to ask you how Egg was taking all of this weather! I always freeze my bananas for banana bread and then thaw them out. And speaking of bananas …. they better go on sale soon, my stash is running low. Last time I got them at 19 cents/lb
After work tomorrow have the soup kitchen. Then I’ll stop at the Salvation Army and by then I should be able to use the aerobic room at the gym. Then I want to come home and Vince & I will prebowl some.
Vince went to the bank today (needed to get quarters for the laundry in FL) and then to WalMart for a prescription
add me to the list of people who are grateful for such wonderful friends. Even tho we are spread across this great Earth, I think of everyone frequently. So much reminds me of someone – if I see a dog I think of pip, everytime I use shirataki noodles I think of Heather, every time I use the flosser, I think of katla and so much more. As we go thru GA on the way to FL, I think of all the gals in GA, and so on and so on

Sue I hope your horse knows how much you love her 💞 having a horse is the same as owning a dog or cat but the best part is that you can ride it 🐎 She's fortunate to have you 💞 29 years is amazing!

I awakened to a foggy morning and am enjoying my first cup of coffee. It is 7:30 am and a hummingbird is drinking sugar water at one of the bird feeders.
We have an appointment to see parent poodles on February 6 at 11am. I hope we have a good visit & eventually find a healthy puppy. This breed is new to us. Our previous Keeshonds were very sweet, but had health problems. Time will tell. Keeping my fingers crossed for finding the right dog for us.
Katla
Katia,
Sounds like you are doing your due diligence in checking out the parent poodles -- examining their papers, being sure they aren't part of a puppy mill operation, seeing their health, spirits, and intelligence by meeting them in person. You might consider reading up on poodles as a breed -- e.g., what happened when they were overbred to be smaller and smaller. You don't say what size you are looking into. I grew up with miniatures and I'm biased -- I think they're great! Super smart, affectionate, and fun. Hypoallergenic coats, too. Good luck and hope you find the right puppy match, soon. (Though you know what it takes to raise a puppy. Our COVID baby pup is turning 2 years next month and --- wow. He's still giving us a run for our money. But what a doll :=)

Just wanted to pop in before breakfast and tell Lisa that I dreamt of her last night.
She had a pet chameleon and it was taking part in a colour changing competition. It won, and she received a lovely modern apartment as a prize.
I often dream of the women on this thread. I have been on here 9 and a half years!!
Intro
Originally I lost 57 lbs. Kept it off for a long time. Then put around 4 pounds on and stopped there for a while, then a few more, stopped there, and, in the last couple of years, a few more, which I am trying to remove for my cruise in March. Weigh day is Sundays.
My method is CICO with an emphasis on healthy eating. Lots of fruit and veg. I do much better when I'm AF and lowish carb.
Yesterday DH cooked his wonderful chicken stew and we have left overs for lunch. Tonight is calves liver. Leek and cabbage. Maybe cannelini beans, if I'm ahead on calories.
DH is underweight and always has been. I try to feed him up with cake and potatoes and he eats candies. He exercises every day of his life, which has helped me change my lazy habits. I am now a demon exerciser!
I am 72. I live in the wonderful seaside city of Brighton and Hove on the South Coast of England.

Yolo—The poodle mom is a standard. We haven’t seen mom or pups so far. The breeder was recommended by our veterinarian’s staff. We’ve had contact with the breeder and will meet the mom before the puppies are ready to be adopted.2

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Accountability:Chose well: Joe, readings, BP, dogs to powerline, steps >7400, CI<CO, CI<250<CO, active 5:41!
Bonus: 56 vacuuming, dusting and moving furniture, one load laundry, Crissey Field with Joe and the dogs, hymns.

Friendly February 2022
3: Do an act of kindness to make life easier for someone. $ to Ru & Mar?
4: Organize a virtual ‘tea break’ with a colleague or a friend.
Disrupted morning routine to start laundry and vacuum while Joe went into town. The pipes screech when hot and cold water are mixing to make warm, the drum groans if there’s anything heavy (bath rugs, towels). All these noises bother Joe more than they do me.
To my surprise and delight, Joe then invited me and the dogs to Crissey Field for a romp. So don’t mind at all that I didn’t get to BB&B or osteo back.
The very happiest of birthdays to you Kylia @kymarai!
Carla, nope, just missed Feb. March 1 is mine.
Julie, yep the calories do add up fast, almost as fast as the hours slip away…
Annie if all else fails to work on the scorched pan, soak it overnight in full strength ammonia.
Michele, ditto what you said about thinking often of our friends here. This morning I wondered if you ever figured out what made your feet bleed?
Welcome @goyologo Yolo! Ditto what you said about poodles, we had miniatures (the medium size) when I was growing up and I loved ‘em, but now I’m part terrier… (wheaten, miniature schnauzer mix, skye.)
DVR button is busted on our remote. Spectrum will send another should arrive Tuesday. In theory could “watch” via OnDemand/Network but I don’t see the Network option. :}
Just skimmin’ as Joe is already up and I’m tardy for shift change. Bonus! Joe just tried the DVR button and for him, it worked!
SMH but grateful.

Good morning all.
to all our new ladies. It’s good to Share our journeys with our peers.
Today it is bright, breezy, cold and showery. I have Parchment craft this afternoon, so will be getting ready for that. Planning to make a Valentines card for DH
Lisa: ‘chores I’ve actually missed doing’ That would be ‘nothing’ for me 😝
Kylia: 🥳Happy Birthday 🥳 I hope you had a good day.
Katla: Sorry to hear about your yoga friend. There’s a lot more Covid here at the minute since the schools went back after the holiday. Hope your quest for a new dog goes well.
Gotta go walk. Back later.

Busiest time of year for me so I haven't commented much. This too will pass... leaving a hefty chunk of paycheck on my account, so I'm okay with it.
My sister and I have been connecting with our dad on Zoom once a week since August. That was when my mom fell out of bed twice and was moved from independent living, leaving him all alone most of the time. This week, Dad was glowing with happiness and reported a wonderful thing: in his dreams, Mom is still alive.

Katla,
So excited for your puppy search! Poodles are a wonderful breed but remember there are all kinds of temperament within a breed. I had a dog that would go through fire for food, one that would go through fire for a ball, and one that would go through fire to see me. And one who wouldn't get up for fire! They were each very different living companions, all the same breed. I prefer a very affectionate dog, and one turned out to be very independent. The breeder thought she was fine for me, and I was too smitten to shop wisely. Beware! And take your time. Don't be rushed into a match by scarcity tactics. With my last dog, Teddy, I played with him to judge his interest in food, balls, and me. He was super affectionate from the start.
That's my advice, and it's worth what you paid for it!

Katla, Poodles are great dogs. Brandy died in 2016 but Sasha is still with us.

LISA ~ I know your Son in Law is in Poland and wonder if the news has affected his stay there?
Carol in GA
Carol - Yes, the current news has all the battalions on alert, but I don't have the need to know, as my daughter would say, so I don't ask. The update on my daughter:For those who were aware of my daughter's previous months (she's also a soldier, stationed in Fort Riley, with all three kids with her), she's going this weekend to have her tattoed-on wedding ring removed. I hated that she had it done in the first place, but never said... and this is why. She was also basically declared not guilty of the charges of neglect that arose from my son-in-law calling the MPs and them arresting her on her front lawn in front of her kids and the entire neighborhood. In Army speak, the charges were "unsupported." She said when she got the piece of paper with the verdict, she had to go outside and sit in her truck to cry. It's been a long winter, but she's going to make it. Her husband is starting to realize that he really, really screwed up their lives, and he's starting to make noises about how much he loves her and sent her flowers for their anniversary and so on. He may have waited too long to pull his head out of his *kitten*, I just don't know.Whidislander wrote: »Oh I also belong to a Soup Lovers Facebook group, and its nothing but people loving all that's soup.🍲💖👍
Rebecca
Rebecca - oddly enough, I don't actually like soup, and to my knowledge, I've never made it before. Rather than throwing the whole thing in the oven again with biscuits on top, Corey put the pre-made biscuits on the pizza stone that we keep in the oven all the time and got them crispy crunchy, and then we poured my creation all over them. Very yummy.cityjaneLondon wrote: »Just wanted to pop in before breakfast and tell Lisa that I dreamt of her last night.

Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
Heather - Well of course... because I need a lovely modern apartment! I do love chameleons, oddly enough. Possibly because it was how I spent most of my life, trying to change my colors to match others' demands of me. I don't do that anymore. My color chaos gradually settled into my current and final color: Crusty Old Bat in Rusted Ivory.
Terri - right there with you on the chores. I'm still enamored of them because I've been sitting on my nether regions for the last two years. I'm pretty sure I'll start skiving off shortly.
Michele - Enjoy Florida! I made banana bread last night too... And in fact, will probably slide in there and snag a thin piece for breakfast.
Kylia - Happy birthday!
Penny - I'm so glad your father can see your mother in his dreams, and that it makes him happy. Good to see your post.
Corey had to go in an hour early this morning again, and it's still only 19 degrees outside, but the sun's supposed to be coming out of the clouds in a few hours, and warming up from there. I'm hoping this encourages the snowdrops to emerge. We never saw them last year. Here's the view from my front porch this morning:
Later y'all,
Love,
